T-Mobile Digitizer + LCD Broken, which one to get? - HD2 General

Hi.
I have a T-Mobile HD2 with:
Digitizer Broken (solderless)
LCD Broken (P/N 60H00300-00P)
Do you think there is any possibility to use a complete assembly with :
Digitizer (soldered)
LCD (P/N 60H00295-00P)
Is it compatible? Any length difference?
Best Regards.

No one knows?
US T-Mobile housing is 1.5mm longer than HTC T8585.
But maybe if you change entire lcd+digitizer assembly it will fit.
I ask this because of a shortage on US T-Mobile HD2 lcd...

I have a broken lcd on my tmous hd2 and am looking for a new lcd. The one that came out of my phone is the solderless one with the small pin connector you just clamp down. The lcd part # on it is 83h00242-05. And the touch screen part # is 60h00300-00p. Ive looked on ebay for just the lcd but they all seem to be for the one you have to solder, part # 60h00295 i think. If anyone finds the solderless lcd one could you post a link on here to it?

i came across this
http://cgi.ebay.com/T-MOBILE-HTC-HD...N-INTEGRATED-/170528488088?pt=PDA_Accessories
its for the full lcd and digitizer assembled
my glass is broken so im getting that one
http://cgi.ebay.com/OEM-HTC-HD2-T85...izer-New-USA-/220634364402?pt=PDA_Accessories
i know changing it is going to be a nightmare but im gona give it a shot, hopefully i wont make it worse lol

My LCD screeb broken yesterday. I have tmobile HTC HD2.But my touchscreen works fine.
Do I need to purchase this one
http://cgi.ebay.com/OEM-HTC-HD2-T85...220634364402?pt=PDA_Accessories#ht_2748wt_698
or
http://cgi.ebay.com/T-MOBILE-HTC-HD...70528488088?pt=PDA_Accessories#ht_1845wt_1014
Please let me know.
Thanks

If it is an HTC (non US T-Mobile HD2) then you should get this:
http://cgi.ebay.com/HTC-Touch-HD2-H...Accessories&hash=item43a1246e01#ht_750wt_1139
It is soldered.
You should RE CHECK by disassembling and check the part numbers. You are going to need to disassemble anyways.

Just to clarify, there are only 2 digitizers available, USA version and non-USA version. If you buy the Digitizer/LCD combo (already together), it doesn't matter which you get although the USA version will say T-Mobile on top. Both 60H00300-00P and 60H00295-00P are the same other than the way the digitizer connects to the LCD (soldered- 295, connected- 300). Hope this helps.

You are right, but I heard that NON US model's digitizer is 2mm shorter that US one.
That would mean that the whole housing is different and probably won't fit.
I've only used US T-Mobile version of HD2 so can't confirm this.
It will be very nice to know if a US version would work with a NON US motherboard and vice versa.
Best Regards.

I can confirm that the 60H00300-00P part # USA TMO digitizer is identical to the non-US one, 60H00295-00P in length, width, and size. The only difference is the way the LCD and digitizer mount to each other. You cannot use a TMO digitizer with a non-US LCD and vice versa. I had an opportunity to compare a T8585 (US) and a T9193 (non-US) and the only differences are in the housing and motherboard. The MB on the T8585 (US) is a tiny bit bigger, thats why TMO had to use a slightly larger housing. Everything else is the same (except for frequencies, etc.). I am currently using a 60H00300-00P (US) in my T9193 (non-US) without any problems at all.

Nice, so as long as they are a matching pair it doesn't matter, you can put a matching LCD+Digitizer from a non-TMO HD 2 into a TMO HD 2 and vice versa?

Anyone tried if the Digitizer/LCD combo (pre-assembled) are really interchangeable???
I have a HD2 (EU-version) where the LCD+digitizer+touch glass is broken. I will buy a digitizer/LCD combo because that will be easier, and as far as I can understand there are two versions;
one combo with the 60H00300-00P (US, non-soldered), and
one combo with the 60H00295-00P (non-US, soldered).
I have a US-version combo at hand, but I need to be absolute sure if the US-version combo fits and work with my EU-phone before I buy.
So, again; anyone really tried if it works??

Any news on this matter? Thank you.

You can find the screen+LCD on ebay for about $70, but the quarlity is so so easy to break when you make the change.

as said before by ookba it should work.

Can you confirm that too?
I'm going to buy the US lcd + touchscreen for my EU HD2, to avoid soldering... hope it's gonna work

Get the combo because I have been seeing alot of videos on the soldered ones and the touchscreen stop working, so stick to the combo

T-Mo HD2 USA Guts + Euro 8525 Housing = ?

I'm wondering about this size issue of the T-Mobile USA vs EU T8525 vs AU T9193.
If i take the housing off the Tshmo USA and replace with an european 8525 housing I get off ebay, would I be dealing with issues like the digitizer being too big for housing or the wifi board not fitting in the housing? Where is the differential coming from?
I do not think LCD would be any different. I guess I look forward to a Tshmo USA DISASSEMBLY!!!
Any thoughts?

That sounds INSANELY unnecessary.
Well I do phone repair for lots of people so it isn't too crazy. Plus what if someone bought a T-Mobile USA HD2 and cracked housing outside of warranty and needed to repair for themselves. All that is on market right now is housing for european models from what I have seen. It's not to strange trust me.
i agree. but the only thing on the market is European because the phone has been out for 3 days... and people only could buy on day one.. no sales the last 2 days...
long story short... there will be housing for the new hd2 in due time, and anyone that needs housing already is an idiot in my mind (i mean the one that came out Wednesday)... and i hear the new hd2 is 1.5 mm taller... i don't think it would have been if it wasn't necessary...
Yeah but, don't you wanna find out WHY it is taller?

I got mine on friday, it wasn't advertised but a lot of the stores got shipments on both thrusday and friday.
Hahaha I wouldn't even try doing that. I have replace many housings nokia n95,n82,moto mings and their not too easy but i seen how they take the hd2 apart and it doesnt look something you can do just like that. you need a damn oven for the glue a freaking oven lol http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QGSsk2mMq84
I did not use oven:

LOL are you sure? any how is the screen really glues into the pieces or its just a normal glue?
Normal glue? No such thing.
I used a hair dryer instead of an oven to weaken the glue bond that was between LCD and plastic mid-frame.
I believe most adhesives in cellphones are silicon based.

makes sence i usually just get a really this plastic card and slowly pull the screen out of the device while using the card to cut through the glue so far it has never failed me (not that im tring to use it on the hd2 unless i break it and i think ill go with ur idea better.
So my idea of swapping parts of US HD2 with Euro HD2 is not so crazy after all. This can mean lots of money saved pending on the fix and where your phone is from. Thanks to asterix005 for posting pics of Digitizer / Housing comparisons.
Anyone with more input on the idea of cross model repair, post in here!

So the next logical question(s) to ask is:
"OTHER THAN PERFORMANCE, DO THE PARTS INTERNALLY DIFFER BETWEEN TMO US and 8525 EURO ON THE ISSUE OF SIZE / ARRANGEMENT?"
"WHY IS THE HOUSING 1.5mm LARGER ON TMOBILE US?"

It's just a guess, but an extra 512MB of RAM has to have somewhere to live
I was wondering the same thing... if I can tale my T-MoUS insides and put them in a t8585 casing. My main reason is there are lot's of nice leather cases for the euro model like the vaja case that won't fit my us hd2.
It doesn't have 512mb of extra ram

Yes, right, ROM....but it's still memory that would likely require a 2nd module.
Vaja Case

Are you certain the Vaja case wouldn't fit the american model? Just asking cause i placed an order without even thinking about the difference in size.

Pretty sure. The way it closes over the top of it won't work cause it won't reach over the top. Plus the vaja case is pretty exact fitting without any wiggle room. I contacted Vaja to see if they could make a version that fit the US model, but unfortunately they said they have no plans to. I have the noreve case which is made for the euro version, also, but luckily it does have some wiggle room and doesn't have such an exact fitting closing mechanism... so it fits decently. But you can tell that the volume button and camera are a couple mm higher up and the top goes a little higher. I had to cut a little extra off the camera hole.
Good luck... hopefully you can return or cancel the vaja case. Otherwise, if you get it and figure out a way to mod it to get it to fit, please let me know because I would love to have a vaja case. But I'm pretty sure it's not gonna fit without you modifying it someway. I don't know how you could mod it, though.

t8585 and us tmobile hd2

hi, this is actually mi first post here, but i am a little confuse. i have a t-mobile US hd2 and i'm looking for some accessories on ebay but some of them say that are for the t8585 but not compatible for the t-mobile us hd2. is there a real difference between them? i might think some software can be difference but are they different is size?
is this for real?
There is a size difference between the U.S. and the International versions. The U.S. version is larger and the phone jack is a bit different. The send key is green and the end key is red on the U.S. version. The keys on the International version are all white. The internal flash memory is 1024mb and the ram is 576mb on the U.S. version, while on the International version they are 512mb and 512 mb. The roms and radios are NOT interchangable between the two, but apps and themes generally are.
thanks freeincolorado
the size difference is fairly small (1.5mm), but it's enough to keep cases from fitting or aligning properly (like the camera lens and bottom ports, etc). From what I've seen, even the battery cover on the back is slightly different between the two, just fyi (US version has a small foam insert, T8585 version doesn't for some reason)
I got a digitizer off eBay t8585 they said it was for tmobile but when i got it it was the soder on one.
wall taking my hd2 apart I damaged the lcd ribincable.
IF i get a international lcd with the solder on connection for the international digitizer will it work with the tmobile hd2.
I put my two digitizers together to see if there is a size difference. I cant see one so maybe if I use both international lcd and digitizer together it will work in the tmobile version?

[Q] Case differences for T-Mobile version

Hi everyone,
as you see from my profile I'm an italian guy. I recently came to USA to visit my girlfriend and I found on the Marketplace an T-Mobile HD2 for very cheap which definitively is in very bad conditions planning to fix it completely and making it a new phone.
So I found a new housing here which I guess would be for a T8585.
I heard T-Mobile model has a 2mm difference somewhere... so would that be a problem?
Cnn.cn has two different housings for the T8585 and the T-Mobile version... so.. I wouldn't want to pay three times the price! Do you know any better place to find it for cheaper?
Also... do you know if the digitizer is melted with the screen or if it is splitted from that?
I also heard there are two different digitizer connectors from the T8585 and the T-Mobile version... is the T-Mobile version the one which requires soldering :S?

Does a T-mobile branded digitizer work on international HD2?

Hi There,
I've been waiting for weeks for my HD2 digitizer I ordered from ebay. I just got in and it is T-mo branded. I didn't see this when I bought it, as I was careful to get the plug in type instead of the soldering one. It is the plug in type, but the original did not have a T-mo branding. Is it possible to still use this version to replace my digitizer?
Thanks in advance.
yes, you can still use it as long as the plug is correct. As far as I am aware, the digitizers are all the same size for all variants of HD2.

[Q] Broken screen question

Hi all, i have a question
So my hd2 fell and the screen broke, the lcd is still working and so was the digitizer but it stopped a couple of weeks ago.
Now i have the money and i'll buy a new digitizer.
My question is will the glass for the t-mobile version fit my european (or is it international) hd2?
I don't want to buy it just to find out it doesn't fit or something
Thanks in advance.
I read somewhere that Internation hd2 use lcd and digitizer combo that has to be soldered together but mine is click-on.
Is that the same one t-mobile version is using?
On the back of the lcd is says P/N: 60H00300-00P
EDIT: It looks just like this one.

There s a little bit size difference between the EU HD2 and TmoUS HD2....
It may fit, but u might face compatibility problems
Recommended that you buy the digitizer meant for EU HD2 from ebay Global easybuy
So as to be sure
Post #4 - Not all good advise ...
No size difference between lcd & digitizer on any model of HD2.
Main difference if replacing just the digitizer is fact one type is a solder connector & one a plug connector.
T-Mobile USA version was plug only connector.
EU version can be both depending on early or late manufacture or if been in for repair already it may of been changed to later version .
If have original SPL you can view the type via bootloader. If unsure wise to look first before ordering ...
Loads of info on this of you search forum:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1341927
http://forum.xda-developers.com/search.php?searchid=154235078
you will need a heat gun to separate the two, then you will have to scrap all the double tape off and re-install new to keep the two and the housing together very easy to repair and very easy to break, Hint of advise, I would take the phone to a qualify repair shop for fix.
