Herald won't turn on.

My Friends HTC Herald won't turn on. I tested the battery with multimeter and it shows that it is charging but none of LED`s are on when it is charging. I have no idea what could have happened. Please help!

No picture is coming out. It is not bricked or something like that. Last time it was flashed about 4 months ago.

Please do not double post to bump a thread. It's only been a day and not everyone had been online since then.
If it won't go into bootloader and it won't turn on, then it might be dead, unfortunately.

I want to tell that it turned on one time, but SIM card was not inside so it had to be turned off, but after that it did not turn on.

is your phone back on? this happened to me recently. mine is hard spl'd. i tried pressing different button combinations like the power button and the 2 soft keys and it finally turned on. resurrected!

No , its still off. And I dont have HardSPL. What buttons did you pressed?

Are you surely unable to enter the bootloader?
(Press & Hold the Camera-Buton, in addition press for only one second the Soft-Reset-Button, hold the Camera-Button until the bootloader [RGB-Screen with max. 4 lines of text in the red container] appears!)

I too have the same issue....
It was working but now it does not want to turn ON
I have not installed any new ROMs.
Any wonder why everyone is having this issue...

Me too same PB ...
I have complet out de moter board and i seen noffing be wrong but cant boot or chargin / no LED too / and the battery still OK....

[Q] HELP -HD2 Vibrates nonstop when battery inserted

Hi there,
i have search but can't find anything
A friend of mine just gave me HD2 and i was super excited about it.
The phone wasn't used for ages so i plugged it for 10 minutes and while plugged i tried to turn it on.
the phone started to vibrated continiously without displaying anything.
I removed the battery, unplug power, inserted battery again and it just vibrates like nuts
Once out of 5 (roughly) it flashes... the flash and then vibrates... again nonstop
once out of 10 (roughly again) it just doesn't do anything at all.
even when plugged to the power, no led or nothing.
did i get a dead beast ?
I tried, holding buttons, pressing reset button, etc but with no luck...
hope you guys could help me... many thanks in advance

Check the battery pins on the HD2 and make sure that non of them are bent slightly or anything like that. A slightly bent battery pin can cause the HD2 to do some crazy things. If non of the battery pins are bent then you might just have a bad NAND chip and the only fix for that is a new main board.

just checked them all out and they are well aligned and don't seem to have been touch

Dang man that does suck, I hate to tell you, "Yeah it probably needs a new main board.", and then someone else come up with another idea. But I do think that is going to be your fix. i say this cause if it was bricked it would more than likely vibrate one brief burst and that would be it, nothing else. but the steady vibration sounds more like a bad component on the main board. Sorry friend that is my opinion. Maybe I am wrong though.

something new happened this morning
I left the phone without battery all night and put the battery in when i got up.
the screen displayed the following message.
/!\ Software update failed. Please Try again.
I couldn't do anything from that point so i pressed the reset button... (didn't want to remove the battery)
phone went off....
as it wasn't responding to anything... i took the battery out and back in.... and brrrrrrrrrrr ... back to scare one
any ideas ? doesnt smell good ...
PS : sorry for double post, hotel connexion in cyprus does really suck.
speed is bad and unstable... they have 150Mb line for the all island (no joke)

keep the volume down button pressed then swutch on your phone ...if you go into a tri colour screen ..then you might be in some luck ....then you have to go to the official htc site and download a rom update from there ..and flash it ....

i tried but nothing
now it's just dead...
i plug in it so maybe it will charge the battery normally but it doesn't seem to to anything. normally there is a led indicator no ?

orange led will glow ...when plugged in ....maybe your friend tried to flash android on it but didnt succeed thus causing phone to not charge ...or maybe it is a serios hardware defect ...you can buy replacement motherbrad from here http://www.ebay.com/itm/Mainboard-Motherboard-HTC-hd2-leo-T8585-/260819122167?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3cba07f7f7#ht_500wt_969 take it to your local repair shop and tell then to replace it ....try this if there ar no more hopes there are cheaper boards avalible too on ebay search...be sure to buy this mbd ...only if your phone is non T-MOBILE

Yep it sounds like a bad NAND chip. My guess is it has bad blocks that is keeping it from booting and the steady vibration is being caused by the same. Again just my opinion. I say this because it said, "/!\ Software update failed. Please Try again.", this is common in cases when the NAND went bad.

[Q] [HELP] Stuck in bootlogo

Hey guys,
First of all, I searched for my problem but couldn't find a solution anywhere. This is the most unusual kind of "bootlogo stuck". My phone shows the bootlogo for several seconds, then turns off. I go to the recovery mode (CWM), it appears ("reboot system now", "...", all that), but then again the bootlogo appears and after several seconds the phone turns off. I go to the download mode, it appears, but then again, I see the bootlogo and my phone turns off. So obviously flashing the stock rom turned out to be a failure in this case. I first thought that maybe I needed to recharge my phone. But when I plugged the charger, there was no display of the battery icon. I left it like that, hoping it was charging, but the same problem occurred after a while when I checked. Oh, and one more thing, whenever, I took out the battery and put it back again, the bootlogo showed up (even when I hadn't touched the power or any button!).
It's been several months since I detached myself from Android development. The last ROM that I flashed was Hyperion 8 four months ago, I don't exactly remember the kernel that came with it.

If power button seems to b the issue, you can fix it by *slightly* striking its side against a hard surface(may b table or wall). You might not believe but this method is 99% working.
But do this only when u r left with no choice. Don't get me wrong

i also had this issue... you can't catch up with recovery console or download mode because the phone automatically turns off..
Reason: The power switch is shorted... But sometimes the rubber between the power button and the switch in the circuit is jammed... i fixed it myself... replaced the microswitch myself.....

does the battery charging animation show when you put it on charge?
If no its either
dead battery
faulty charger
faulty usb socket
faulty motherboard
if yes but you cant turn phone on
faulty power button

at night before i sleep it 50% the battery and wen the morning i check my phone ,..its not turning on sory 4 my bad english ,..

so you are now saying the phone does turn on its just the screen isnt working
If the screen doesnt work in download mode you will have to take to a repair shop

maybe bro ..because all the method i use is not working ..i dont know whats the problem because the night after the problem ,my phone is very good..my batery is 50% .but in the morning when i check my phone if i have a txt my phone not turning on or lights .i check all but it doesnt

I had same issue, and resolved by plugging usb cable and entering download mode, and clicking cancel,
which reboots phone, i think your battery might be dead, but shows 50%,
try using another battery,
plugging charger and booting,
long pressing power button,
removing sim card and rebooting,
using another battery, removing sim card, plugging charger and trying download mode,
if download mode works, there is a chance to save your data :angel:
if not, do not stay there anymore and go to repair centre, waiting too long might reduce even more your chances to repair it :good:

Tried with usb jig.?infos here in general section,google,maybe some facebook groups.

like I said if the phone boots - you can hear notification sounds but there is no screen output and also no screen output in download mode then you have a faulty screen/motherboard - take to a repair shop for diagnoses

Yup it's a kernel crash, it only happens when im on an aosp rom

this just happened to me as well.... had to pull the battery to get it to reboot.
is this something to worry about?

Were you charging your phones when this happened, or did it just happen out of the blue?
I meant to make a post about the engineering aboot and charging a while back. It will take whatever amperage that you feed to the phone and dump it unregulated. So, if you have a 10 amp charger, it will send all 10 amps to the battery. I am surprised I didn't blow up my phone. Luckily the overheat protection kicked in.

Mine was not charging it was just out of the blue
Green screen when woke up and only way to reboot phone was pull out battery
Happened in standby probably nothing to worry about well see
