I participated in an AT&T and HTC contest today and all of the participants got to use htc aria phones. They were non AT&T branded and I liked the design a lot better.
The differences were black volume buttons, backlit circles around the home, menu, back and search buttons, and black screws on the back. I think the device looked a lot slicker that way without the chrome. The device also felt more stable in my hand. Has anyone else tried the non AT&T branded Aria before?

The volume rocker and screws can be fixed by finding the back cover off an unbranded aria.

An OEM back cover won't help. The screws aren't part of the back cover -- they are on the surface of the phone's assembly.

I'll be getting my Aria tomorrow. I don't mind the chrome and I think the screws are unique. I didn't know those buttons weren't backlit tho. That kinda sucks.

The buttons are backlit,,, they just don't have the circle around them like in the EVO 4 they are the same as the Incredible, and I do like the changes,,, the original design had this shiny back cover that looks kind of cheap... the new backcover looks better.

Ah, thanks for the heads up. To tell you the truth, I haven't even touched an Aria yet. Just did a lot of research before buying and it was the best option for me.
I like the flat black better too. Seems less prone to visibility of scratches. Is the shiny one also the rubberized paint? I think the rubberized paint on the released one was a great idea.

The non AT&T branded HTC I was using wasn't glossy on the back. It was flat matte but it had black body screws and a black volume rocker. It made the device look very sleek, nothing stood out and tried to catch the eye.
Does anyone actually own one of these non-branded ones? If so, please contact me.

So recently I went and bought a g1 with a cracked screen because I had sold my custom mytouch to pay a ticket (I'm 17, money gets tight) and wanted to do a different housing like I did with my mytouch so I bought a green one off of ebay from hongkong. I just recently got it finished up with everything working and wanted to know if anyone else has actually done this with one of the knockoff colored housings? I searched google and couldn't find any other pictures, and it came out pretty good for a first attempt in my opinion so I figured I'd share.

ahh I meant pictures installed lol, and thanks
I've been thinking of replacing the housing on my myTouch (the day warranty ends, mind you, not wasting that!). Might get pink for my fiancee in case she ever wants it (she likes old flip phones that do nothing but text and call ) but for me, its going to have to be black.
Glad you showed me there's colors, though. Thank you! I might get a yellow or something and paint designs on it. Now that would be awesome.
I'm not sure which mytouch you're talking about doing but I did the one without a headphone jack and the only way it would fit together was without this piece on the back that was for the antenna that I had to replace with copper wire lol, but amazingly after that I NEVER had less than three bars, crazy for tmobile around here. Oh and the little hole at the bottom for the mic was on the wrong side, I had to drill a new one. With the G1 I had no fitment issues but yeah when I did the mytouch the housing was actually for an HTC magic because there were none for the mytouch when I did it. So if you run into any issues when you decide to do it let me know because as far as I know there are no tutorials

Yes, it's the old one without the headphone jack.HTC Magic/ION/myTouch 3g are EXACTLY the same. The problems resulted from the manufacturer of the new housing being a complete moron, lol. Its probably going to be a while until I try, like I said, I want my warranty.

Thats my HD2 as of now, Now i just want the general opinion if i should put white carbon fiber on the top and bottom on the device as a contrast. Heres a picture of the different types of vinyl could buy.
I'm wondering What would look best or Not to put anymore carbon fiber vinyl on my device.
looks pretty sharp like that but I would go with the same pattern if it matches up for the top and bottom I think that would look nice
I wish there was a white version......

The Whole thing white?
me too. white is sexy
Personally, I don't like any colour or pattern. But if you`ve already begun, you should go for it and fully change it to only one colour scheme.
Once again, I wouldn`t go for this if I were to choose, but that`s just my opinion...

I vote for the white . Anyway I find it cooler if you can get the top and bottom in carbon too.

www.Carbonfibergear.com per the picture
I'd say go with the white.
I could not find just the battery cover I dont want the full cover case. ( just like the one in the pic that covers only the battery) Can u give me the exact link please I appreciate it.
He purchased the Vinyl and then placed it over the original cover. They don't actually sell the case for the phone.
Here's the link to the Vinyl

8 bucks thats not bad at all im still not sure to get black silver or white, how easy was it to apply and does it stay on nice and tight?
I like this modification. It matches my carbon fibre multi-pen and other accessories (www.netcomposites.com). Unfortunately I don't have much use for the pen now - the stylus nib is for resistive screens only.
there is a new post on xda about some1 doing the same thing for evo 4g..

Well it was relatively easy to put on the battery case, It's kind of time consuming if you want to be anal with it. So far the thing has stayed in place and looks great, People have been giving me compliments for it, they say it looks great .
All you really need to put it on is a sharp hobby knife to cut it to size. Just take the battery case off the phone and cut it to shape. I mainly got the inspiration from that thread Here.
did mine like that about a year ago , and my netbook and my laptop .....
both the netbook and laptop are just the top covers , and the HD is just the battery cover ......
http://www.techradar.com/news/phone...e-phones/hands-on-white-google-nexus-s-929694
All of those of you that wanted an upgraded Google Nexus S - your wish has been granted, if you consider a new colour an upgrade.
TechRadar got a little look at the new handset on test, and if you're in the market for something different when it comes to a new mobile, then the White Nexus S will at least set you apart.
First impressions make it feel like all Google and Samsung have done is chuck a while plastic cover on the back of the phone, but thankfully it's a little more than that.
Firstly, the whole inside of the phone is now white when you pop the cover off, as well as the extraneous buttons - and these are the things that are actually different on view when you consider the differences between the white and black version.
Sat side by side, you probably wouldn't notice the difference between the two phones from the front, with the same 4-inch Super AMOLED screen on offer. We have no idea why the front isn't also white - we can only assume this messes with the colour perception in some way, as the dual tone looks odd.
We put the black plastic cover on the back of the white Nexus S (there's not a lot else you can do when taking pictures of a new cover) so you can see the difference.
Another key difference, and in our eyes an upgrade, is the back is no longer glossy plastic but a slightly mottled exterior making it easier to hold.
Other than that, the two phones are identical. there's no official White Google Nexus S UK release date, but expect to see the phone sometime in April.
It should be landing on the same £30 a month (ish) tariff as its black brethren on Vodafone - at least now you can decide which version suits you better.

Ok samsung needs to make a non glossy black battery cover ASAP!!!
+1 to SupaDupaFly24!!!
I think the phone looks a bit odd because the front is still just black.
The black cover on the white phone looks cool though.
All they did was change the back? not the front or the bezel?
The non glossy back is a great idea though.
When will they make black battery covers like that?

anyone in here paint their EVOs? first I did the paint scrape mod, ending up with black-red-black, then i bought the back plate and battery cover in stock white so I ended up with a bunch of color combinations...now I painted my original (the one I scraped) plate and battery cover baby blue and gave it a few coats of clear.
I think it looks nice.

I've painted mine as well. I originally had the white evo, but after having it fall out of my pocket on the pavement, it had a few dings where the red plastic was showing through. So I decided to sand it down and paint it. Except that I was sorta lazy and just used what I already had, and just a few weeks prior to this, I had been repainting the bumper on my black car.
So I disassembled it, sanded it down to get rid of the dings (the plastic is disturbingly soft), and then just did the 1-2-3 punch of plastic adhesion promoter, base coat, and clearcoat. 2-3 coats of each, naturally.
I think it turned out pretty ok, though I left my battery cover as-is.
I took some photos to document the process here. Unfortunately I had to use flash on these shots, and it ends up looking sorta worse than it does in real life.

looks great. you did a better job in terms of procedure. I think this is my best job so far but it's far from perfect...I'm still learning!
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
Thanks, I do plan on repainting it something other than black at some point, but for now this is preferable to having visible dings on the body.
I like the color you chose for yours and it looks really nice. I'm impressed with the fact that you were able to keep the HTC lettering metallic while painting the rest of it; regardless of whether you masked them off or just removed them and then re-attached them, it had to have been kind of a pain.
That said, I think I prefer the stock white back on that; it color-coordinates really well with the back of the case.
Also I noticed that you painted the inside of your kickstand white. subtle, but a nice touch.
I did this a while back for my gf...
The problem with this is once you put a case over it its pointless. Better off just painting a case. Does anyone really use an Evo with no case?
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA Premium App
I don't use a case.
wow...props, that looks bad azz! but yea...i'm clumsy so i dont think i could pull that off without breaking it some how

I feel the same about phone cases as I do bras for cars. Maybe they protect your phone, but they look stupid. I'd much rather have a scratched up phone than a stupid looking case on it. BTW, I bought my Evo on launch day, never used a case or screen protector, and you have to look very hard to find any imperfections.
*sorry to get off topic - OP, I'm digging that shade of blue... very nice job.
Hi, I'm not really interested in cases or drop protection as I don't like the bulk all these choices add to the phone, but what I did have on the back of my S7 Edge was a non slip kinda rubbery clear backing. This was purely to make it easier to pick up and hold without it sliding out of my hand... so kind of a protection in a way, bit not obtrusive. I also noticed the S7 Edge sliding dangerously across tabletops when on vibrate without this stuff, but was fine once I stuck it on. However, I can't remember what make it was or anything so I was wondering if anyone knows of something like that? I'd appreciate a pointer in the right direction.

Hi
Have a look at Dbrands Skins maybe thats what you are looking for.
Jay
I got a rear screen protector which has carbon fiber-ish texture. It has come together with my front screen protector.
It does the job perfectly. I`m not a fan of cases as well, just wanted a scratch protection.
I don`t know whereabouts you are based, but I got it from eBay UK. I`m not sure if I could provide the link here?
Just search for "carbon fiber skin" or "rear(back) screen protector".
It was nothing branded, nor expensive. To be honest I didn't even know that I`ll be getting rear one with the front screen protector in one bundle
My advice when applying - use hairdryer on the edges - if you do it properly, both screen protectors won`t be lifting up at all. See dbrand instruction videos on their youtube channel.
It took me about 5 wasted ones to get to perfection LOL
Marcin
Hi. Apologies for lack of reply and thanks for the leads...
... but I found what I was looking for - it's actually Slickwraps Naked. Once you put it on properly you can barely tell it's there except for the little extra grip it provides. I got the coral blue s9+ so kinda didn't want to hide the prettiness so it's good for that too. :good:
Gadget shieldz is what I have. It wraps around the sides and stays put really good giving it awesome grip with no case...
