[Q] Need help restoring my hd2 to factory state - HD2 General

I will be returning my defective hd2 to tmobile, what is the stock radio for spl 2.10? also how can i go about uninstalling hspl3 so that i dont get a $100 software change charge.

I would use the latest mobile update you can just say you upgraded to their newest Rom. I've never has to go back to stock so I can't tell you exactly how to do it.

+1 and here's the link where you can get the latest mobile update http://support.t-mobile.com/doc/tm54430.xml?

Flash whichever of the official T-Mobile ROM's you want (the one at that link is fine), then just re-run HSPL3 and pick "2.08.0000", and that will return SPL to stock.

just for completeness,
if you reverse this process (run hspl choose 2.08.0000 and THEN flash 2.13 rom) then it will also upgrade stock spl to 2.10.0000.
its academic though, both 2.08.0000 and 2.10.0000 are stock and should be fine for warranty, though in theory if your phone has rom 2.13 and spl 2.08.0000, then that is technically proof that you have been using hspl.(it won't matter, just explaining the technicalities.).

Once having the 2.13 rom installed couldn't he just reinstall the 2.13 again and get the 2.10 SPL?

if you mean
1 - flash 2.13
2 - run hspl3 choose 2.08.0000
3 - flash 2.13 again
then yes, but it seems like an extra flash for no purpose to me, when you can
1 run hspl3 choose 2.08.0000
2 flash 2.13
I was just making the point that flashing the rom before removing hspl leaves a missmatched rom/spl (although tmo shouldnt complain about that, since it is still a stock spl), whilst simply reversing the order of the two steps also upgrades the spl to the proper spl for the 2.13 rom.

so should i flash a stock rom before removal of hspl3 or should i remove hspl3 then flash a stock rom?

lol, it doesn't matter. depends if you want it correct or just good enough to pass warranty.
(beginning to wish i hadn't bothered trying to explain now, hehe.)
see, stock rom 2.13 ships with spl 2.10.0000
if you flash the rom first you will end up with spl 2.08.0000 so yes itshould be ok for warranty, but its not "right".
if you remove hspl first you will end up with spl 2.10.0000which IS right.
((((note to self, people don't care about knowing the why's and wherefores, they want nothing more than a 1 2 3 so stop tryingto) teach!!)))

Custom ROMs for SPL 2.13?

Will there ever be any ROMs for 2.13 so we don't have to downgrade?
SPL 2.13? Do you mean SPL 2.10, on Stock ROM 2.13? You can actually just downgrade by flashing stock 2.10.1 via USB...as long as the ROM contains SPL 2.08.
Confused?....there's a pretty easy guide to follow on the front page. And to answer your question, the ROM has nothing to do with the version of SPL on your phone.
SPL is like a gateway on your phone. The stock SPL has pretty strict regulations: HSPL (what you flash over the stock SPL with) is like an open door. It allows you to flash whatever ROM you choose on your phone.
So no, there probably will never be any custom ROM's specifically built for SPL 2.10 because the ROM and SPL/HSPL version are two very different independent things.
~Jasecloud4
Got it. I tried that HSPL and flashing from SD without, also HSPL2 and couldn't get it to work. My stock ROM is fast after I made my registry tweaks. Don;t really see to much of a use to really spend allot of time on this since most custom roms are eye candy.

ROM Question

I am currently running my HD2 with the Energy ROM (May 22) and was wanting to get it back to its original state. If I install the update released by T-Mobile (T-Mobile_HD2_MR_Software_2.13.531.1.exe) will that get me there? Thank you for any help.

Yes it will.
however if you have hspl installed still, you should remove taht first.
Run hspl1024, choose 2.08.0000 (currently your spl is 2.08.hspl )
If you dont remove hspl first, it will not be removed when you flash 2.13 over usb, but setting spl to stock 2.08.0000 means it WILL be upgraded by the 2.13 rom.
Just curious why you would go back stock ....??
Try the newest energy rom June 11th, very nice ...
Just curious not trying to be nosey ..... ...

So if we already have HSPL on our HD2, would there be any benefit in loading the new one?

nah, not really. its gonna give you the same 2.08.hspl whichever you use. This is more to cut out the downgrading step.

no, cos you already have spl 2.08.0000 so hspl1024 already works.
this is just an update to the installer so that it works with all model hd2s, and all spl versions, with less options to go wrong.

yep. works on spl 2.08.0000 and spl 2.10.0000 so no need to downgrade.
You can only choose 2.08.hspl or stock 2.08.0000 though, cotulla decided its safest to just offer the one spl fits all.
Should work on pretty much every hd2 out there.
so for everyone that keeps asking is it needed to switch to HSPL3 if you already have HSPL_1024 the answer is no.
If you were on stock rom 2.13 ( which the phones ship with this now) your spl would be 2.10.000 so if you wanted to HSPL before you would have to downgrade your rom to 2.10 which would give you a SPL of 2.08.000 but with this you will not need to downgrade which gives you less of a chance to brick your phone.
wouldn't an HSPL 2.10.000 offer some performance benefit?

What DLL ?
"the" does not tell us much ...
Everything you need should be in the zip
timeout usually caused by using usb slot in pc casing or hub.
you should use one around back of the pc.

Instead to making a video; it was more useful to give us some important information.
Your Rom version?
Your HSPL/SPL version?
Radio?
Customization (in case you have; didn't see much of this)
It's hardware problem I think.
ROM is 1.48, I tried also 1.66 and a lot of custom builds.
SPL/HSPL no matter.
Radio - 2.05 and 2.15
In video is ROM 1.48 SPL 1.42 Radio 2.05
I don't exept to help me, I just show you the video.

Don't forget to remove HSPL (in case you have it) when you install Stock ROM 3.14 (it isn't compatible together)
And after installation do a Hard Reset.

Yes, I know. I don't have HSPL now.
I tried to install stock 1.66 first. The phone freezed several times during first configuration before WinMobile loads.
Next - 3.14
BEFORE INSTALLING STOCK 3.14:
I agree that it might be a hardware issue. You might want to try a Task29 to clear the memory from ANY residuals of previously installed ROMs that might interfere with each other and cause problems. But you'd have to install HSPL first to be able to run it.
Might not be the solution but is worth a shot - esp. scince sending it in would leave you out of your device for days/weeks ;-)
After that installation of 3.14 via SD card does work with HSPL scince this way of installing bulldozes over everything installed no matter what (extract RUU.exe with 7zip or the like, rename the biggest file to LEOIMG.nbh (all captal letters!) and put it on your freshly formatted SD card. Launch bootloader and it will install the ROM with proper SPL and Radio ROM). Fastest way to get to full up to date stock, I guess.
I always install ROMs via microSD card
3.14 in progress
3.14 still freeze

HTC HD2 Question

I just bought my HTC HD2 so I'm a newbie so my question is Why is there Hspl1 Hspl2 hspl3 hspl4? what is the need for 4 of them? Can anyone help me with this please.
The phone's BIOS allows you only to upgrade the ROM (operating system) with a newer version of the same of the one you already have installed. Thus you couldn't flash a custom ROM or even the standard HTC ROM if your phone came with an Telecom Operator branded ROM.
Why the different version of HSPL? They are developed up on the SPL that the phone came with or that was flashed with (as part of an official ROM update).
The main reason for different versions is the phones and stock spls that each version allows
Hspl regular and telstra with spl 1.42
Hspl2 regular with spl 1.42 to 2.08
Hspl1024 tmous only with spl 2.08
Hspl3 all models, spl up to 2.08
Hspl4 all models, all spls.
Ohh ok thanks alot for the information
So when I put my proper HSPL on my device I can install any custom rom too my phone?
You can use any Hspl for any rom, they don't have to match.
The exception is 3.14 roms which must have 3.03.0000 or 3.03.Hspl
If you are going down the nand android route, you must use 2.08.Hspl
It doesn't matter which version of Hspl.exe you use.
2.08.Hspl from Hspl2 is IDENTICAL to 2.08.Hspl from Hspl3 which is IDENTICAL to 2.08.Hspl from hspl4.

Yes and no.
Sometimes there is no need of HSPL.
Some custom roms don't need the presence of HSPL.
It depends on your desired custom rom.
And additionally, if your desired custom rom is not based on STOCK ROM 3.14 you don't need to install HSPL3.03 with HSPL4.
Personally I'm using Artemis on my HD2 without HSPL.
These are new for me, now i knew about HSPL too, thanks for everyone.

AFAIK STOCK ROM 1.66 as base and HSPL2.08 for MAGLDR.
I don't like to test WP7 on my HD2 because of the limited functionality at the moment and I'm very satisfied with Artemis.
So, to be sure have a look on HD2 Windows Phone 7 forums.

it would have been a nice idea to mention not only that you don't really need HSPL, but also exactly how you got like that without HSPL, for those who haven't heard of SSPL or Goldcards.

no custom winmo rom requires hspl, hspl (sspl, goldcard) are only required for the actual flash. Once the rom is loaded it will continue to work regardless of whether the spl is spl or hspl.

Maybe you are right and I wasn't precise enough.
I'm using Artemis ROM and there is no need to install HSPL3.03 or using a goldcard for flashing the ROM, if you can download STOCK ROM 3.14 from HTC homepage by entering your serial number or from your provider's homepage.
If there is no STOCK ROM 3.14 available for your device then you have to use HSPL or goldcard.
First you flash STOCK ROM 3.14 with its brought along installer and then the custom ROM (Artemis) with SSPL. Both from homescreen and your HD2 connected via Active Sync or Windows Mobile device center to your PC.
