Ok apparently in my futile attempts to OC the Pure Hero 1.0 Rom I've totaly got something hosed up. The phone works but features that others have working flake out on me. Is there a way to wipe fully the whole thing and reset back to the rooted 2.1 Rom as we did before the Recovery image.
If it is as simple as just flashing the original developers Rom please don't flame me..I did search.
I do a factory wipe then Dalvik Wipe then Ext Partition wipe before flashing an image.
I currently can't get Wifi to work on Punk.Kaos Rom nor on the Pure Hero (I think that was an issues though)..
Thanks for all the hard work you guys do....
copy a rom you want to use to your sdcard. then go into recovery, wipe the phone, then flash zip from sdcard. done!
That is what I have been doing and some of the settings are still flaking out and the Kaos rom is V15 he fixed wifi in v2. I can't even get Jamezelle's sensable rom to even flash with out a boot loop at animation.
Thanks for the help.
No nandroid backup?? I know before flashing the first Rom on the phone I made a nandroid back up on my wifes and pretty much do everytime before flashing a new rom. These things are priceless
Follow the the original root procedure.
*Suggestion*, when phone boots.... open setcpu and adjust the CPU OC setting.... maybe...
id say go to the downgrade to 1.5 from 2.1 root thread and do that and then re upgrade and reinstall the recovery image.
I agree with doing a full downgrade to 1.5 and rooting again. I had problems similar to yours and this solved the problem. Good luck.

Thanks I just wanted to confirm that should be the process of going to 1.5 thne to 2.1 and restoring the Recovery. One last question and then a Mod can close this thread. The Rom Manager in the Market will that work for us or is that a Droid only thing?
Thanks for the great advice.
Forgot to answer the nandroid backup yes did it before every new flash of a Rom they would come back weird also. Secondly how do I get my SD card back to full Fat32 and not the ext+Fat partition for A2SD mode? I never could get the A2SD to work fully.
So I have a fully root Evo4G running CM6. I was flashing the nightlies but am going to hold off for a little while. The first stable is soooo good.
Only problem is lack of 4G, I am temporarily in a city that actually has 4G and I have never been able to use it. I am considering flashing the stock rom that has 4G on it, but I am quite sure that will break root.
If I perform a full nandroid, flash to stock, and them restore the nandroid when I leave the 4G area will I be able to get back to full root? I'm not sure if it will completely restore everything on the phone including root and custom recovery.
I know that the current stock doesn't have a root method yet, and 4G is NOT worth running sense again.
Any help would be great, thanks

I've been playing with my Epic, and flashed the DK17 FroYo leak found in the Epic 4G Development section, and before flashing flashing it to my Epic, made a backup of it using ClockworkMod's ROM Manager, figuring it would make retuning to my original 2.1 load easy. Well, apparently it doesn't get everything. After I loaded the DK17 build, played with it a bit, I wanted to go back to my former build to retrieve some data, so I restored my original ROM's backup, but when it rebooted, the boot failed. What I ended up having to do was use Odin to restore the DI18 stock build, root it, install ROM manager and then restore my original backup. I had to do the same thing to go back to the DK17 ROM after I retrieved the data I was looking for. Apparently, ROM Manager is fine if you're staying within a Kernel, but if you're changing the Kernel, not so much.
Is there anything I can use to back up the COMPLETE ROM, from beginning to end, so I can switch beween Kernel if/when I choose, using one restore step? It doesn't matter to me whether I need to plug it into my PC and "suck" the ROM out, or if it can be done on the phone direct to SD.
Thanks

You can find All Versions of Clockwork Mod Recoveries in ROM Manager. So if you having any problems with old Roms you can use CWM 2.5.
CWM 3 doesn't support update-script, it requires update-binary and updater-script. So there are many mods and themes available which will not work with CWM 3.0. If you know how to convert them into flashable Zips then you will be able to use it. But anyway you can always revert back to CWM 2.5.
Does nandroid backups made with CWM 2.5 work with this new version?
Restoring backups of 2.2 roms doesn't work for me. Only way I can get a 2.2 rom to boot is if I flash a fresh zip

Just use CWM 2.5 to restore backup of 2.2 Roms. It should be working fine, I tried on my DHD and I don't have any issues.
Awesome! Makes things easier when I want to flash CM7.
I was so glad to see this. I had the non-final version installed and it meant if I wanted to go back to Sense I had flash the 2.5.1.3 recovery first. Now with this being on the ROM manager I flashed the 2.5.1.3 then recovered Sense, flashed v3 recovery and backed up Sense. With that done I can go between it and CM7 or any other ROMs that allow far more easily.

True.. Makes my life more easier...
It would have beign nice if I knew this stuff about v3 yesterday...when I couldn't get back any recovery, and I was beginning to believe that is something wrong.with my SD card. But I don,t understand ,why, if is a NEW (and supposedly a better version) doesn't, support the back up made with v2.5 (I read about the .bin, and .zip file in a.upper post, but It's a little to technically for me and I dont understand how this will help me if I use CM7 and ruu 2.3).
And the question is, will v3 recover the backup made with v3 of my sense Rom,because I don,t wanna try again and if it.doesn't,t work ,I will wake up my self again in the orange menu of v3 and then I have to flash again a Rom, downgrade from Rom manager to v2.5 and restore an older backup
Neat!
CM7 official release is probably not to far away then!
Thanks...!
Argh, really, is it so hard to check for the fs during backup, and then restore it using the noted fs? Why the stupid split for ext3 on 2.5 and ext4 on 3 ? Especially since 3 has no problem reading ext3.

Obviously Koush feels it is, don't forget CWM is open source, if you feel the check of file system and appropriate restore / backup is a minor issue submit a patch implementing it for review and I am sure Koush will accept it with pleasure.
re flashed today everything is nice. Except one backup from older CWM is not recognized.
Thanks for the heads-up

I was using MIUI rom on my DHD and I wanted to restore a nandroid backup to return to Revolution HD, when I started Rom Manager, it told me there's an update to 3.0.x (Not 100% if it was 3.0.5 or something else), so I updated it.
Then when I tried to do a nandroid restore to my RevolutionHD backup, it went through the process properly, but it won't boot into the rom.
Can anyone help me out, please. I'm phoneless?

flash cwm 2.5.x from fastboot and reflash revolution
A while back ago i followed this guys steps to hack my htc hd2 well now i want to upgrade to the besr firmware possible and later on cyanogen mod. But my first priority is to upgrade. I have android 2.2 and i flash it with mgldr DTF. Sorry if thats not correct im a noobie. Thanks for your help guys
So you did not install the system in CWM way.
Install Clockwork Mod on your phone so you can flash CWM Roms. Its backup and restore functions are handy and you are unlikely to lose data when updating the ROM. Check it out.http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1044830
If not using CWM right now, please install Titanium Backup to save your applications and system settings. However, going to a different ROM with old data, you may still have some issues.
