**Rooted Phones*** Reset back to First Time Root - Droid Eris Android Development

Ok apparently in my futile attempts to OC the Pure Hero 1.0 Rom I've totaly got something hosed up. The phone works but features that others have working flake out on me. Is there a way to wipe fully the whole thing and reset back to the rooted 2.1 Rom as we did before the Recovery image.
If it is as simple as just flashing the original developers Rom please don't flame me..I did search.
I do a factory wipe then Dalvik Wipe then Ext Partition wipe before flashing an image.
I currently can't get Wifi to work on Punk.Kaos Rom nor on the Pure Hero (I think that was an issues though)..
Thanks for all the hard work you guys do....

copy a rom you want to use to your sdcard. then go into recovery, wipe the phone, then flash zip from sdcard. done!

That is what I have been doing and some of the settings are still flaking out and the Kaos rom is V15 he fixed wifi in v2. I can't even get Jamezelle's sensable rom to even flash with out a boot loop at animation.
Thanks for the help.

No nandroid backup?? I know before flashing the first Rom on the phone I made a nandroid back up on my wifes and pretty much do everytime before flashing a new rom. These things are priceless

Follow the the original root procedure.

*Suggestion*, when phone boots.... open setcpu and adjust the CPU OC setting.... maybe...

id say go to the downgrade to 1.5 from 2.1 root thread and do that and then re upgrade and reinstall the recovery image.

I agree with doing a full downgrade to 1.5 and rooting again. I had problems similar to yours and this solved the problem. Good luck.

Thanks I just wanted to confirm that should be the process of going to 1.5 thne to 2.1 and restoring the Recovery. One last question and then a Mod can close this thread. The Rom Manager in the Market will that work for us or is that a Droid only thing?
Thanks for the great advice.
Forgot to answer the nandroid backup yes did it before every new flash of a Rom they would come back weird also. Secondly how do I get my SD card back to full Fat32 and not the ext+Fat partition for A2SD mode? I never could get the A2SD to work fully.

Openfire ROM Problem

Apologies for the double post but I'm dying to get my wildfire back working.
Rooted it yesterday with unrevoked, attempted to add the Openfire ROM this morning with everything going fine untill the reboot. I'm now stuck on the white HTC screen and have been for the last hour. Any help would be great, cheers.
did u do nandriod back up first
Sent from my Archos5 using the XDA mobile application powered by Tapatalk
I backed up the stock firmware I already had manually, before it prompted on the flash.
did you do a full wipe before flashing the rom?
No i didn't, thought it would be safer incase something went wrong?
run your restore then I couldn't get it to work either
Sent from my Archos5 using the XDA mobile application powered by Tapatalk
if you did a nandroid backup of your stock rom then you should be fine to wipe, since you did not wipe and flashed the new rom over your stock rom, apps and settings will conflict, therefore not work...
Right I see, I'm currently going through what I'm guessing is the restore....recovery - Nandroid, I'll let you know how I get on.
Thanks again.
Nope I seem to be getting nowhere here, can someone point me in the direction of the restore?
you didn't do nandroid backup did you haha, you'll have to install an RUU file to return to stock rom, or just do a full wipe and flash a new rom like openfire or wildpuzzle.
Where can I find the RUU file and how do I access my SD card? USB won't let me get to it, I'm guessing the phone is in charge mode?
go into recovery - partitons menu - mount sd card (or somthing like that) to open your memory card
Spot on, I'm on downloading an ruu file now, going to load it up with a stock rom then try flashing it again, but wiping it this time.
Infact how do I do a full wipe? I'm after the easiest way to get the phone booting up so I can flash it properly?
Anyone?
I'm still no further than I was three hours ago!
EDIT:
BREAKTHROUGH!!! =D
Restored it to before I flashed it incorrectly. Nearly threw the phone across the room in excitement.
go into clockwork recovery and click the title "wipe data/factory reset" and then flash the ROM you want to use.. to install a ROM:
- "install zip from sdcard"
- "Choose zip from sdcard"
- "click the zipfile"
- "yes"
- "reboot"
and if you want to install RUU dont ask me never done that

From the HBOOT screen go to recovery, then nandroid, restore, and to the appropriate time/date.
I've still had no luck with actually flashing the phone though. Back to Android 2.1 for me.
I'm 99% percent sure you have the OC issue some ppl incl myself on here have - try reinstalling openfire if thats what you wanna use - and then go to wildpuzzle thread - dl 0050 and flash it. If i'm correct phone will be fine and use openfire - but will NOT be overclockable. I wish Jacob had my phone or got hold of a phone w that problem...
I had problems with the Wildpuzzle 8.0.11 ROM, it would just sit there (did a ADB logcat on it, but I've lost the actual log... sorry! ) ignoring a duplicate entry (yeah, I did a full wipe . Removed WP and put on the latest OpenFire ROM... omg... what a difference to the stock ROM! Soooo much faster, even before I overclocked it.
I'd say, if you have boot issues with WP give OpenFire a go. Certainly worked a treat on my Wildfire.

Hey guys, i really need help here

I'm currently using the wildfire. I rooted it and installed rom manager.
I did backup my rom (CWRv3.2.0) and installed the wildpuzzle rom (Newest one).
But i think forgot to wipe off the data. After installing the rom, it booted fine but it says that my phone memory was low.
I waited for a very long time but it does not respond. Hence, i thought something was wrong and tried to go to cwr and did a factory reset.
But now it gives me a black screen after the htc logo.
And after 10 to20 minutes and it still does not respond. I went back and did a restore(before the wildpuzzle rom I've installed)and it came out that my phone cannot boot and stucked in a loop. (after 2 turns it went back to cwr)
I'm scared that i might bricked my phone.
Help please! Much appreciated!
When you do a Factory Reset in Clockworkmod, you need to flash a ROM again. Also, if you read the thread completely, WildPuzzle 2.3.2 does NOT work. It was released untested by danne (as he stated), and, various tests by users show it didnt boot.
EDIT: And if you are talking about Android 2.2 Sense ROM's, you will need to flash it using Clockworkmod 2.x. They are not supported on 3.x
So do i have to flash a new rom like CyanogenMod ? Sorry, I'm a complete noob at these. Edit: Its the Wildpuzzle 2.2 froyo v0.8 rom.

Yeah flash the CyanogenMod 7 ROM. But before you install this ROM please make sure to Wipe the data, Clear cache partition and also to clear dalvik cache and then proceed to install the CM7 ROM
Yes! Thanks a lot! Flashed Cm7 Nightly Builds 2.3.4. Running perfectly
EDIT: Wifi does not connect lol, stucked on locating ip address.

Questions about flashing roms

Hi everyone. I had a few questions about flashing new roms on my kindle and was hoping to get some help
1. If I flash a new rom, like cm7, will i need to use titanium back up to save my apps and data. I remember doing this when i flashed a rom for my phone.
2. will flashing to cm7 prevent me from receiving OTA updates that amazon sends out. They just recently sent one a few days ago and the update unrooted the kindle. I wanted to see if I this is something I would have to worry about if i flash to cm7
3. once i do flash to cm7 and say another rom comes out, can i flash straight to the new rom or do i need to flash back to stock then perform the flash for the new rom.. again i remember having to do this when i was changing roms with my phone.
4. does the battery need to be fully charged before flashing
5. If i flash to cm7 then want to go back to back up (amazon stock software with root and gapps) will this make me loose my root access and twrp 2.0
Thanks

1. If you are coming from another rom, then yes. But if you are updating your CM7, then you should probably backup your apps
2. I have had CM7 on my Kindle for like 2 weeks, and have not received an update. So I don't think so.
3. Like I said above in number 1. For example: If you are coming from Cm7 and want to try to flash ICS, then you would first backup your system, then wipe system, data, cache and Dalvik-cache, just to make sure. But if whistlestop releases a new version of Cm7 that fixes the MAC adress, then you would boot into recovery, A backup is optional but is recommended., then wipe cache and Dalvik-cache only, then flash the updated rom on top of it.
4. It says that it is recommended to have a full battery, but I have not yet flashed a rom with a full battery, and I have not occured problems.
5. I think if you get an OTA update after flashing back to stock, then you will probably loose root access again and TWRP. But don't worry, after you get TWRP back, you will still have all your backups.
AWESOME! Thanks for all your help.
one more for you. so i just rooted and installed twrp and did a system back up. then i want to flash cm7. now i am running cm7 and decide to try ics so i do another back up before i flash to ics, will the cm7 override the original back up that i did before flashing cm7 or will i now have 2 different back ups i can restore if i wanted too.

There will be 2 different choices when you go to restore. But the problem is that when you make 2 backups the same day, its hard to tell which is which. So when I make a backup I mount USB with the option and rename the 12-27-11... file to something like CM7-12-27 or something of the sort.

Need someone who knows this phone.. (Revert back to stock)

So.. After owning this phone for a year, I still love it to death..
But after many roms and such its been kinda slowing down on me..
what I would like to do, because I heard it helps a lot, is to revert back to the original software, then put a rom on fresh..
I'm running Synergy Rom now.. And it just locked on me.. It keeps rebooting, so I figure now is the time I do this..
Questions..
I will no have to lose my root? right?
How do I do this now? I'm using clockwork and assume I put the original rom(or zip?) on my sdcard, then go into recovery, and run it?
Correct?
I also ran a script file (v6supercharged)
I assume I will have to redo that as well?
Thanks guys!!
Have no phone right now, so would like to get started asap..
Again!! MUCH THANKS!!
As long as you fully wipe using Amon Ra, you should be able to make most updated ROMs run fast on your phone. Perhaps try reflashing Synergy. I also recommend flashing a new ROM, but reinstalling apps without data. Perhaps that is contributing to the sluggishness.

Thanks.. But I've been told over and over, its sometimes good to revert back to stock..
Wipe/clear, Install stock rom (or its an .exe. or something?) then wipe/clear again, and put the rom on..
Anyone have the stock file??
Do I let it update or no ??

That's ridiculous. A wipe is a wipe.
In fact, using the RUU (.exe) is riskier since it flashes radios and such, and if something goes wrong during, you have a bricked phone. Just do a full wipe including cache/dalvik cache and install your ROM of choice, along with a good kernel.

If you rooted with unrevoked or revolutionary, you will need this file to return to stock, and yes, you will temporarily lose root.
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/38127313/Un....15.00.0808_NV_2.15_release_220182_signed.zip
Change the name to PC36IMG and run it from the root of your SD card through the bootloader. You will lose your root, but your security flag should still be off (S-OFF) so that you can quickly regain root after running this file, after changing it to PC36IMG in place of the first one. (It is Amon-RA and not clockwork. You can reflash clockwork later if you want, which I don't recommend.
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/38127313/Root 2.3.3/PC36IMG3.08.zip
Also, you might need to flash a superuser app, in case you need root inside the stock ROM. Here is an old one, but it should still work for you.
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/38127313/Root 2.3.3/su-2.3.6.2-efgh-signed.zip
Like the previous users said, it's probably not necessary, but I'm just giving you what you asked for.
hmmm.. so now its not necessary ? I was always under that impression..
Ok..
Anyone know what the new HOT rom is ??
Gigerbread please ?
Like I said I was using Synergy..
Used Fresh before and a couple others..
whats the hot rom ??
FYI I also partitioned my SD card, or whatever its called.. For the gigerbread thing..
Put MikG 3.0 on it and call it done. Rock solid ROM, great battery life, and awesome tweaks built in. It will be like an all new phone. Enjoy

This is why I stress making a nandroid of your stock/rooted immediately after Rooting.
You may want to simply reformat your SD Card. I've been having a few issues and realized it's been months since I cleaned up and reformatted/repartitioned my SD Card, so I plan on doing that tomorrow and flashing a new ROM
Use "Best Method" for Cleanest way (Wiping)
OLDER: Froyo v2.2 (3.70.651.1) http://keetsa.com/files/RUU_SuperSo...15.00.11.19_NV_1.90_release_161482_signed.exe
Most Current version is "Gingerbread v2.3.3 (4.54.651.1).EXE" http://www.multiupload.com/LLV12N2WU8
with "xxx.EXE file", You'll need to Run it on Widows and install on Phone thru Micro USB plug.
BEST Method to install Most Current STOCK ROM:
1. Download + Rename to "PC36IMG.zip" on SDCARD + (Boot into Recovery +Install) "AmonRa Recovery v3.11-gnm" http://dl.dropbox.com/u/34586908/PC36IMG-ra-supersonic-3.11-gnm.zip
2. (Boot into Recovery), WIPE these 8 lines (All data/factory Reset, /data, /cache, /sdcard/.android_secure, /system, Dalvik-cache, battery stats, rotate settings)
3. Download + Rename to "PC36IMG.zip" on SDCARD + (Boot into Recovery +Install) "GB v4.54.651.1.ZIP" http://db.tt/Ck6AB18E
If you want non Stock Recovery + Rooted:
1. Rename your "(AmonRa Recovery v3.11-gnm) PC36IMG.zip" to "PC36IMG.zip" again. (Boot into Recovery +Install). (cus Stock Rom changed you to STOCK Recovery)
2. (Boot into Recovery + Install) "Root (Superuser-3.0.7-efghi-signed).zip" www.mediafire.com/?16a07x3800wvak6
No need to revert to stock.
Use vr superwipe
Save the contents of your sd card to a computer, then reformat the sd card
Wipe everything on the wipe menu, then flash a new ROM.
copy the titanium backup directory back to your sd card and restore apps without data first, then restore data of any games or what not.
Problems should be fixed.

You have a lot of options here. As the preceding posts may have eluded to. Depending on how consistent and deep your issues are, there are different steps that need to be taken.
You can always wipe the ROM and reflash. Do a dirty flash, by just wiping cache and dalvik, then reflashing. That tends to be my temp work around sometimes.
Worst case I've seen is reverting to stock. Unrooting. And starting back over.
With any new ROM you'll need to reflash your mods. Becareful tho of what mods you're using. Not all are compatible across the board.

Did reformatting the SD card help? I just realized and did the same thing. It had been a good 3-4 from changes and about a year since I formatted my card.
It helps a lot. I reformat mine about every 3-6 months

[Q] Defy hard resetting itself on each boot.

Hi everyone!
I am having very strange problem with stock rom "JORDN _U3_6.36.0" from T-Mobile USA on standard Defy. Each time i power phone up, it starts booting up then restarts itself in to stock recovery and perform hard/factory reset. After that it boots normally, but all settings gone.
I am not using T-mobile sim or moto blur account , so i skip registration using "ebluroff" trick. Is that can be the cause of the problem?
Some backstory: when i bought the phone it had CyanogenMod 7 installed on it. I used it for 2-3 years, even updated it several times up to 7.2.
Then some time ago i started having issues with it, so i had to flash stock rom with 2.1 Android.
I decided not to do anything with the phone, until i got some advice, so i any help would be greatly appreciated.
What were the issues faced? Anyhow one of the things you can try is to upgrade to 2.2, via rsd lite

Well, thing is i want to keep my downgrade ability. I rooted the phone with superoneclick and install 2ndInit 1.4.2, but the problem is that it doesn't see SD card because it is Eclair. How people installed nandroid backups on 2.1? There has to be the way to move to 2.2 without flashing full SBF, because as i already mentioned it had CyanogenMod 7 when i bought it, so it is possible.

Some update. After hours of digging i found out these thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=899450
So, i first flashed defy 2.2_boot_only FIXED FSB, then after reboot custom recovery started working, so restored Droid22 rom from it.
Phew, i knew it was possible. So now i have rooted chines (?) android 2.2.1 on my phone and working custom recovery. I am gona stick on it for a while until i find best 2.3.3. nandroid ROM.
Just wanted to clarify was it right order - first flashing fixed SBF then restoring nandroid backup? I couldnt get custom recovery working without updating bootmenu first.
I also wanted to add that i did custom recovery data|cash wipe before flashing fixed SBF, before AND after restoring nandroid backup.
I saw that lots of people had problem like me , hope my message will help.
Here is link to another forum which has working download links http://www.addictivetips.com/mobile...ed-rooted-android-2-2-froyo-on-motorola-defy/
