It's quite a common issue people have. A lot need to send the phone back to HTC to get it fixed.
isn't there any other option to fix this? becouse it looks like a software problem

What ROM are you using then?
i have official 2.1 update
Then it probably isn't software. Contact HTC and explain the problem - you should still have your warranty in tact as you haven't rooted.

This is my first post and I must say that this is a great group of people who know what they are talking about!
Anyways, I have had my 8525 for about two weeks and I am loving it. For whatever reason some of my buttons do not work! The dpad works but the two soft buttons, the start button, ok button, email, PIE, and the green and red buttons don't work. The power, scroller, comm manager, the left ok button and the PTT all DO work. I did a hard reset hoping that would fix it but no luck. I been installing and trying a lot of programs but I thought after the hard reset that any program that screwed this up would be gone. Please help I love this phone and really don't want to take it back.
Thanks,
Dan
I took it back and that solved all of my problems.
you took back , what?

My hermes has a similar problem, buttons under the screen sometimes won't work, but if I turn off backlight and turn on, it works... but not very well because if I press green button then red button continually, buttons don't work again after few pressions....
I have changed my ROM but it's the same, it isn't a hardware problem because if I turn the scroll it works again...
This problem is known?
Thank you very muche for your help and sorry for my bad english.
same issue with my TyTN...
Same issue here with Tytn, buttons won't work but if I use scroll button a bit then buttons work again.
Hey guys,
Exactly the same problem here and it's infuriating when I'm trying to make calls on the run and sometimes I can't even pick up calls.
I have an I-mate Jasjam ROM 1.31.305.2.
If anyone has any fixes or solutions that would be great. Or do I have to send it in for repair or something?
So has anyone managed to fix this? Anyone tried a hard reset?
I have no idea how to diagnose the issue and even whether it's a software or hardware fault.
Jasjam- Same here
Also my screen turnes white some times

I'm also having these problems with the front buttons not working. Very frustrating. The problems seem to be platform independent.
I really cannot believe this. When I used the search function I noticed so many people are having these problems with the TyTN, and no resolve.
It's my second machine I received from HTC, first one also had these problems.
HTC sucks BIGTIME.
the u/2 button stopped working and starts randomly pressing itself every time i turn it on... and it randomly presses itself during texting as well and the u/2 button doesnt work its kinda getting annoying now.... can any one help or have any suggestions on what to do.... thanks
any ideas?
u/2 ...? What is that...?
It's probably similar to what happened to my Toshiba laptop. I'd get a pattern of letters/symbols when typing on it, because the case/keyboard screws were too tight and it spontaneously would generate these signals. I'd bet something smacked your keyboard or it was pressed too hard and something broke inside.
It's probably not user repairable, at least not easily, and probably a warranty workable item. Flash back to the stock ROM and send it in, especially if this only occurs when using the slider keyboard.
Hope it helps, even if it is bad news.

the u button on the keyboard.... and i dont have warrenty on it because i bought it off ebay and i live in canada its a tmobile phone. theres no way i can fix it? like it presses itself when i turn the screen on and sometimes when im writing texts.... but the actual "u" button doesnt work when pressed
It can be fixed, but I don't think it will be easy. That is, if it is similar to what I am thinking. If you're daring, or desperate, you can try disassembling the unit to see if something is cut or pinched, causing a short.
Is anyone here familiar with the hardware side of this unit?

I think it doesnt make a good contact with the mainboard.
If you press the button, does it feel different then other buttons..?
Otherwise it could be alot of things but the best thing to do is to take it to your carrier store.
Maybe they could do something for you.
nope the button feels just like any other button when i turn off the screen and turn it on it dials 2 a few times... and when i text sometimes the u button repedetly comes on the screen.... =( its so annoying
Hi
When using the HTC Sense Music player, the volume key sometimes acts as forward/backward in songs and some times as volume key. Is this a bug or am I doing something wrong here. Cannot find any settings regarding this issue
Hmph, I never got this issue.

I don't install things like that, but have this problem. It's nothing to do with anything that's installed on top of the UI.
This is a known issue, and has been discussed on here before. There is no answer at the moment. It's most likely a feature that has bugs in it. It would be nice to just stick to either volume or track skipping, depending on what you want. I normally get volume control from the buttons, but it does occassionaly skip tracks.
HTC may be aware of it - they may not. Since it happens so rarely for me, I'm not too fussed, but if it's bothering someone then they should report it to HTC, just in case they don't know about it.
solution
i found a solution but it's a bit painfull!!!!
hardreset your htc and after that it should be fine.
i've done this and my volume key it's working as it suppose to do!

This isn't a solution, as it's an intermittent problem. If you've had it before, you'll have it again. It will just take a while to reappear.
i think it was something that i installed that cause this problem.

It's an issue with the UI. It's possible that you could cause this by installing something, but uninstalling it would not stop it happening as the problem is native.
The volume key is dual action key when useing the HTC Sence MP.
in order to operare the the volume just turn the screen to "off" by pressing the "OFF/End Call "key.Enjoy the music.

uh? Actually the whole volume function is messed up on the HD2. Sometimes it works, then you suddenly no longer see the volume indicator when using the buttons when watching a video, or it forwards/rewinds the videos/music and best of all sometimes it just crashes the whole device! Soft-reset and it's back to normal. There's a bug in Manila and HTC has to fix it.
This bug and the sms bug are the only problems i have with this phone.. both are so frustrating..
its a real pain in the ass sometimes, i experience this problem too - its definitely a bug
Hi everyone....my beloved HD2s screen has lost the ability to accept touch commands! It started two days ago...slowly at first then more and more often until only restarts got the screen working and now it's just completely unresponsive. Hard buttons work ok but nothing else.
I have had Android running though NAND. I also flashed an original WM6.5 Rom and still nothing.
Anyone else experience this before?
Thanks!
Sounds like digitizer problem.
Just press end call (power) key really hard and hold it for few seconds (digitizer is just underneath it) and the screen should work just fine.
Wow, never heard of such a thing before...honestly I thought you were trolling me until I did a google search! it's worked. Thanks!

Using buttonremapper you can also change any other hard key to the power button. For me, since i launch the phone using the icon on my home screen, i remapped the call key to be power. it works too
Hi guys I have a Tmobile HD2 and I have been facing a weird issue. When I use the touch installer aroma in recovery the touchscreen works perfect but when in android on winmo if I lock the phone by pressing the end call key and then after waking up the phone using the same key the touch doesnt respond same thing happens in android none of the hardware keys allow me to unlok the phone. However when the screen locks automatically after timeout and if i use any other hardware key apart from the end call button the screen works fine.

Unfortunately, your digitizer is dying indeed, it's a matter of time until it'll die for good.

Good solution...for now!
Is this problem really relatet to the digitizer itself?
What connection is between the buttons and the digitzer?
I have nearly the same issue, and its enough to just touch and wiggle the end button very soft to make the touchscreen stop.
=> Is it just a bad cable? or the button underneath with two circuits maby? One for light and one to activate/deactivate digitizer???
I would like to have some info to maby fix it instead of just replacing the digitzer (again).
If its the flat ribbon cable, it could be replaced alone or repaired. If there is some contact between button/cable and touchscreen it could be isolated and so on.
I repaired my hd2 a few times, but need info about this particular problem to know what im looking for.
So if anyone had this issue and could locate the problems source i woulde be thankful for some informations ;D
Maby there will be some fix guide for common problems around this problem if we put together some hints.
