[Q] Gameboid Virtual Keypad??? - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

Wanted to know if anyone has downloaded a GBA emulator with touch screen controls? I'm currently using Gameboid on my HD2 running Android Froyo 2.2 Darkstone build and I find it difficult to use the call and back buttons as my A & B buttons without accidentally pressing the end call and windows buttons. The emulator has a touch screen start and select button which I feel should be the A & B buttons. If anyone knows of a better GBA emulator please let me know.

Gameboid has an option for landscape on-screen controls, but if that's the full version or not, I cannot say. To me, personally, gameboid is the best gba emu out.

I use Gameboid and all my buttons are on screen... and yes it is the best emulator for Android out

I do have the full version of Gameboid. Under settings it will only allow me to set hardware keys for my buttons. There isn't an option that allows me to set keys for a virtual keyboard. What version of Gameboid are you running? I might have an older version because I did not download the app off the market.

That could be the reason, go on and download it off the market. The earlier releases didn't have the on-screen controls implimented.

Has anyone got MAME(arcade emulator) working on xda II?
Cheers.

Not tried any of the others.

not MAME,or xdaII But nintendo entertainment system on xda
I use PocketNester an have 100 NES Roms on sd card, works perfectly
You have to use the hardware buttons at the top of the XDA 2 with PocketNester though, right?
yea, i use the calender 4 a and the volume 4 b, it gets sum gettin use to
it be better if u can landscape it, but i tried 2 diffrent lanscaping progs, an they didnt work, or made it worse
Try PocketGB. You can play GBA NES and Gamegear games and use any hardware buttons.

I'm running an XDA-I and can't seem to get the buttons mapped appropriately. Any hints for this?
I just like using the full screen skin for pocket nester and map the B button to the volume control down button. That way, you can run and jump at the same time (in Mario for example). What I'm trying to look for are those 3D stickers made out of epoxy and putting them on an overlay over the onscreen buttons - that way it will be easier on the thumbs.
HELP
I'm using pocketnes on the XDA and it is awful. All of the games are really choppy and not worth playing. Where can I find all of these great emulators you guys are talking about. Thanks.
I had installed iMAME and MAMECE and both of them worked on the MDAII.
iMAME is faster and better sound but limited roms, MAMECE is a bit slower, more games and bad sound.
but I lost the installation during a memory card installation

Softkeys in Java games, how to get them to work?

I've installed some Java games meant for "regular" mobile phones on my Dopod 838 Pro. I am able to run them via the Midlet manager. The keys to be used to play the games all work fine except for the softkeys. There are usually commands or options to select using softkeys.
Nothing happens when I press any of the two softkeys. Does anyone know how to get the softkeys to work with these java games or at least to use some other keys/buttons to replace them?
Thanks for any tips.

Diamond Emulator games

Hey, I found a link here on xda to a youtube video showing a game(Art of Fighting), and I wanna know if it really just a ROM emulator is, or is it game you install on your phone?
The user is 520darky on youtube, and he's got a few other games aswell.
If someone can reply to my question, can they please tell me where to get the games, either emulated ROM or Cab files.
Thanks in advance.
Cheers,
scruffy_joe
Morphgear or FPSECE. Do a google/xda search!
actually, for running art of fighting the emulator you need is Final Burn, it runs neo-geo games, CPS1 and CPS2, you can find roms in here http://romhustler.net. All games I've tried run pretty smooth ( super street fighter 2 turbo, marvel Vs. Capcom, art of fighting, street fighter alpha 2, etc )
any 1 got this working
managed to get the game started, credits loaded, and started a fight
but when i try to assign the keys it just doesnt work
i can assign 3 of the dpad keys but one always goes to home
also the on screen buttons, do not work as the game automatically pauses and goes into portrait mode
is there any easy was of disabling this so i can use finalburn, as graphics are quality

Yeah it works great for me, go into options and make sure enable screen keypad is ticked and use mode 1 (fire buttons) - then when you start a game pause it and go to Options-Keys- and re=map the buttons....i've got my back button (0x5C) mapped to coin and the centre button as start (0x8E) and everything works fine.
im using finalburn and havent managed to get either of super street fighter 2 turbo, marvel Vs. Capcom, art of fighting, street fighter alpha 2 to work - managed to get cps1 roms to work but not neogeo. iv got the neogeo.zip (bios) in the roms directory but still no luck. maybe im using an incompatible rom.
can anyone email me or pm me a link to a working rom?
I have mapped the keys and made sure the screen buttons are on
still my game pauses wen i press anywhere on the screen and i can not map the home key, all other keys i can map
but i only have 6 i can map??
is this anything to do with the cooked rom i am running maybe, swift
Hi dudes i find a good instructions for emu http://www.pocketpcmag.com/cms/index.php?q=blogs/3/1928
cheers
yeah that the guide i used to set ip up
but still no joy
i think it must be the swift rom

Anyone got an emulator to work with the keyboard ?

Hello peeps , as per title really, has anyone got a gameboy advance / gamegear / SNES emulator going with the keyboard they'd reccomend ?
I use PockeGnuboy like you mention, can configure it to play in lanscape and then configure buttons to the keyboard. Have fun.
Genesis emulators (GenPP/Pico) seem to think that all the keyboard keys are the same. Any way of fixing this?
Search for KforTP it changes the settings without a soft reset back and forth. Works perfectly for me using Smartgear all the hw kb keys can be mapped.

KforTP is not needed for smartgear (or morphgear for that matter).
It's USEFUL for Morphgear. You don't have to do the ctrl+key trick if you use it.
Morphgear seems to be one of the better emulators for TP2. I've played through Metroid Fusion, Chrono Trigger, and Breath of Fire 2 in the 10 days I've had this sexy phone. The sound works for everything but the GBA, but slightly lags in the SNES.

how is it at ALL useful for MorphGear??
you do NOT need to install this on your device to get the keyboard to work with morphgear. i dont have it installed on my TP2 and MorphGear works perfectly with my keyboard.

emulator/joystick working 3.2 stock?

Hi,
I've tried a couple of emulators and IMEs but i can't get joystick input to work in my SNES or N64 emulator.
Has anyone tried a combination of IME, controller and emulator that works on the stock 3.2?
Cheers
I have no idea what IME is, but using my iControlPad with Bluez IME, the joystick works fine. Except there are few emulators that support Bluez IME. So I bought the Logitech Rumplepad which the joystick works immediately, with no additional software.
I prefer the older Rumplepad version without the colors buttons, which my guess is all four L and R buttons on top works. With the new one, two of them doesn't work since they need drivers installation I think. Also the wireless version of the Rumplepad doesn't work.
Have you checked off Use Input Method, under settings - other settings? That happened to me at first.
