Connection Dropped When Plugged Into USB - Vibrant General

Anyone else having the following issue:
When I connect via USB to something other than a wall outlet (e.g. PC, USB port in Car, etc.), sometimes it seems my wifi or 3g connections stop working. They display like they are working, but none of my apps are able to get anything from the net.
Any ideas what could cause this?
The only way I can recover from the situation is to reboot.

I have only noticed this when connecting the USB to my PC. I had assumed it was due to my tethering that the data was restricted to just the PC. If I notice the same issue when not tethering, I'll update the thread.

having the same issue..
Samsung Vibrant
Rooted
Frankin-Twiz (Eugene373) ROM
lose connection every couple of min when the phone is plugged into the computer via USB. If its plugged into the wall, no problems.
Anyone have any ideas?

Syncing via cable unreliable

Hi
I'm pretty new to my S110 and I found that syncing via usb cable is pretty unreliable and slow. Sometimes it would not start at all, sometimes it would no sync all data and sometimes (like that moment) it just does not seem to comunicate well displaying "connecting to device" at the avantgo section for minutes now.
Syning via BT does not have such problems. Any ideas how to cure that?
i've experienced the same problem with my S100 if the usb cable was plugged to a usb hub. never had the problem again since i connected the usb cable direct to a usb port on my pc.
That might be worth looking into, I connect to a built in 3.5'' USB/FireWire bub + sound. I'll see if its better when I connect directly to USB on my MB, problem is it's quite uncomfortable - I need to crouch under my desk to get to the back of my PC.
One thing I noticed, it seems random. I just synced again in a matter of secs and all went smoothly using my hub. Not so a few hours ago, problems over problems. And I havent changed a thing.

Universal Not Connecting Through USB

I have read a no. of posts regarding the subject problem but found no solution. My O2 Exec is not connecting to PC with USB. Even in Bootloader, it shows usb on top when connected to the cable but is not detectable to even MaUpgradeUt_noID.
One other thing is that when its connected to PC through USB and switched on, it stop the charging and only resumes if switched off again.
Can any body tell me how to know whether USB port is working properly and solve this problem.

[Q] Dodgy USB connection

When I connect my Nexus 4 to my MacBook Pro and try to transfer files (or even just connecting it, not doing anything) my phone just comes in and out of connection. I know when my phone is connected when the File Transfer program (downloaded from Google) pops up.
The File Transfer program just randomly opens and closes, and sometimes when I'm in the middle of transferring a big file my phone disconnects and I have to start the transfer all over again (really frustrating).
I wonder if anyone else had this problem, or if anyone know of a culprit that could be causing this connection problem.
Anyone?! D:
bump
Oh boy, no one?
Sounds like a dodgy USB cable or port. Try switching both. If it still happens, connect to a windows PC to see if it's the phone.
Not sure what the problem is but I have this happen on occasion too. I'm running Windows 7 so it's not a Mac issue.
I have problems with certain usb cables, some work and some don't. I get the best results using the usb cable that came with the phone, it has never given me a problem.

I have better results using my old Vibrant usb cable. OEM is kind of crappy for some reason. Once and a while I can unplug the charger from the wall and phone and still have some kind of electrical buzzing in the charger.
the OEM (Stock USB that came with my phone) charger doesn't give me any trouble either.
When I plug it in my laptop to charge, the charging is spotty (I assume because the electric output from the laptop is not strong enough). So I plug it into a wall outlet, no problem.
It's only when I connect to a computer when the connection gets interrupted and messes up my file transfers, annoyingly... so me and md5 are best friends now.
I just don't know if there is something causing this besides the phone, or is it the phone itself (so i can contemplate RMA)
If others have this issue then I want to know if they fixed it or found a workaround...

When I plug my phone into my desktop pc with an alternate usb cable I have it constantly disconnects and reconnects. As soon as I use the stock usb cable it stops doing it and works. I really haven't looked to see what the difference is between the cables could just be that the alternate I use is just cheap. The other cable works fine with my other phones too so its weird.

My phone won't recognize being connected to any computers after trying to usb tether

Hey guys my problem came back actually the day after i power cycled it and it seemed to kick back to life for a second, So I'm gonna post it again to see if anyone can help me.
So I was trying to activate USB tethering yesterday as i do a lot in order to play some games on my computer since I don't have access to any ethernet, and something went wrong and it didn't activate despite having hit the switch on the phone. I unplugged my phone to turn it off since my computer hadn't recognized the tethering and tried to activate it again, but this time my phone only made the charging noise and wasn't picking up my computer at all. I then restarted my phone to see if that was the issue and got the same result. I then tried to plug it into my laptop to see if my computer was the problem and it did the same thing.
Today I tried plugging my phone into my laptop with my usb-c to usb-c cable (instead of my go-to usb-c to usb-a cable that came with the phone) and got some signs of life from the laptop, it makes the sound that says its plugged in, but the phone still only charges and the laptop picks up my phone as "USB root hub (USB 3.0)" and "Intel USB 3.1 eXtensible Host controller-1.10 (Microsoft)" in device manager. I also just tried clearing the cache in recovery but nothing has changed. Does anyone know what's going on here and how I can fix it? I power cycled it the other day and it worked for the moment but it stopped working again the day after.
Unrooted (duh), AT&T model (sorry idk the model numbers like i used to), latest updates and security patches etc
Edit: forgot to mention, it still charges on every computer its plugged into

Charging port problem

I am unable transfer data from pc. I connected to pc and it only charges but no sign of usb connection. When phone goes to sleep after plugging it, again after few seconds phone wakes and again sleeps. I even changed the port. There is no sign of any new devices connected in device manager (Windows) too. Is there any solution for this? Help me!
