Saw in the market that pandora has an update, anyone know if they fixed the quality issues with this update. Didnt want to update my self since it was a manual update, wasnt sure what it would do.
Updated but don't see anything different, there is a Share button, don't think that was there before, also maybe a new option in preferences for the screen remaining lit.

Neither of those options were new.
Viewing the comments it looks like a lot of people are complaining about being forced to submit their contacts? Eff that.
Also, I have 2.2 and I have no sound quality issues...Did you change the quality to "High" in the settings?

Have you tried listening in your car or home stereo? That's where I have noticed poor sound quality...can't really notice thru the evo speaker.
I did the update and now streaming via bluetooth sounds good again!
Um, I hope you know you can change the quality settings, under settings in the pandora program.....
just a thought though....
Only time I ever notice quality issues is when I am not using WiFI. Both 3g and 4g causes the quality issues.
ever since i flashed 2.2 roms, the pandora widget is non existent...did they fix that yet?

I had that problem at first, i just uninstalled and reinstalled pandora, then restart the phone.
Or just try moving Pandora from SD card back to phone. That fixed widget for me.
It seems to be a known bug not people forgetting to turn on high quality..seems to be only 3g

Hi guys and gals,
I have recently stopped using my Sony Walkman, which sounds great with my Sennheiser earphones so that I can use the HD2's in-built player with Audio Booster and SRS Wow 1.5.xx. The combination sounds just as good as my Sony walkman, and delivers good quality at all frequecies.
However, I have two grievances that needs to be resolved somehow.
1) The Audio Boosters turns off every 5 mins. The only two "fixes" that I have seen do not work; the cab provided by Touch-X or the advice from the Leo Tips and Hints thread to keep the Audio Booster running in the background. Neither of these actually work.
2) The music playback always stutters when something network related is happening in the background, whether it be an SMS coming through or changing from 3G to HDSA. It is very annoying, and didnt happen with my N95, so why with a 1GHz "beast"?
Do you think HTC are aware, and is it worth asking them about it?
Thanks.
Any body care to comment, or everybody more interested in the fake HD3 and the SMS bugs?
boss i do have similar issue ....

I dont hate HTC. My phone is working fine apart from the above. There may be other faults in features I dont use, but I am guessing that most of the bugs are inherent in the Sense interface. Looks like the first time they built Sense into WinMo wasnt the best idea.
hey i dont know if you know this by now but if you press the X button in the right upper corner instead of the done button when you adjusting the audio booster it´s saves it for all the songs. annoying bugg butt this is a soulotion that works. bad english but who cares i am from sweden and good luck
Hey guys,it's my third day with the SGS2 and I'm still very very fascinated by the device.Still trying to get used to working without Sense and trying to figure out things about overclocking the thing(What the heck is internal voltage anyway?I'm using Tegrak Overclock Ultimate btw).
Anyway,I noticed that my GS2 has a second tiny hole next to the 3.5mm jack on the right side.It looks like a mic, although any sound I've recorded with the thing is still mono.Any ideas as to what that might be?I can post pictures if requested.
Anyway, two questions for which I'm still scratching my head:
1)How do I link my Google contacts with facebook ones?On Sense it was as easy as clicking "Connect" and searching for the Facebook contact. Here it must be trickier.See,when I connect my Facebook account it synced all of my Facebook contacts, which are 900 give or take a few.I tried to connect one contact with the Facebook one,it connected, but still it shows the picture I have on my Google account, not the Facebook picture. So,do I have to do this stuff like that or is there another way?And can I set the picture to the one they use in facebook?
2)Does anyone use GoWeather widget?I like it very much as an alternative to the Sense clock(even on my DHD with Sense) and it has an awesome weather app. However,on the SGS2(maybe even on the Desire HD but I hadn't noticed it ever happening) the time sometimes stops counting. And those "sometimes" tend to be very often. It just gets stuck, like time stops(sadly it doesn't).So it might be 4:30,but when I look at GoWeather's time it shows 4:10.Very annoying.Does anyone have such an experience?I am using FancyWidget until further notice but I don't exactly like it.
Thanks guys. And please bear with me,I'm still getting used to it.I'm no (big) noob, but some things are over my head sometimes and free time nowadays is scarce here.
Yes that is a second microphone, for Noise cancellation during calls.
Supposedly you can turn it off by pressing the menu button during a phone call, though i have not tried this.
Also it gives you stereo audio during video recording used in conjunction with the mouth microphone.

Well yeah but what the hell,my videos all have monophonic sound, not stereo.Although with the Hacked camera found in the Dev section(don't remember the author's name, but kudos to him) the sound is great, but stereo would give us the wow factor.
As for the other two questions?Anything?
It appears to use both microphones during video recording, but it`s only in mono not stereo like you said

Yep,exactly. It's a shame actually 'cause the hardware is there but software's not taking advantage of it.
Anyway,I want to ask another question that has gone unanswered 2-3 times already. Why is there no current reading in current widget?Instead of electric current values the widget says "no data".Does anyone know why?

OP, regarding your second question, i had the same problem with the go weather clock and i found a fix by unchecking the default clock option that said automatically provided by network settings. Check to see if that's your case and if it fixes your problem

Using my Motorola Elite Sliver, Bluetooth sound has been just fine. Phone call clarity has been great; significantly better than my DNA.
Posted about this a while back on the Nexus 4 here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=44130362
It's -super- irritating, and I believe this is a bug in all recent android versions (after 4.1 I think) with the new bluetooth implementation. I was hoping we'd find a way to 'fix' it in a similar manner, but I have no experience developing for non-nexus devices. I'm glad someone else notices the crackle though, it's annoying to the point where I won't listen to audio over the G2's bluetooth anymore.
Just gonna wake this back up to see if anyone else has any ideas on what we can do here.... this issue blows on newer Android phones and we ought to be able to find a way to fix it ^^

I read through the thread you linked and it looks like you fixed the issue on stock Android ROMs. I have the AT&T D800 running CleanROM XE, also had the issue on stock G2 ROM.
I wanted to offer to test anything you came up with. I connect to a 2011 Hyundai daily and stream Pandora and XiiaLive.
Thanks in advance.
I ran into this as well, although I've only tried Soundcloud, Pandora and Google Music. Pandora is the only app in that list that has issues. Soundcloud and Google sound fine.

I actually found it sounds better on bluetooth than my old Rezound and my wife's DNA do. In wife's car, songs on bluetooth (any app) have an echo/hall effect. The G2 is the first phone that sounds normal with no echo. Plus, the song info is finally displaying properly on the screen. Just wish my car had bluetooth because then I wouldn't have to deal with the thumping sound I hear while plugged in via the aux/headphone jack and changing tracks. I have another thread here regarding the thumping noise.
Enable aptx. Bluetooth had been nice and clear for me even before doing so.

How do you do that? Is there a menu/switch for that?
Prop command in terminal emulator. Is around here on forum in another bt thread. Most variants aren't enabled out of the box. Hell, Verizon didn't even have the logo on the box.

Saw that thread. Figured that if the G2 was already set up for that, then you shouldn't have to go through superuser and ADB to make it work. I mean, if it is an advertised feature then it should be easier to activate. What am I missing here?
I went ahead and enabled aptx a few weeks ago to test it out... either my headunit doesn't support it or it doesn't seem to make much of a difference on my end as I still have the crackly highs as I did before. This was the same issue that I had on my Nexus 4 that I was able to fix by tweaking the sbc bitrate... I'm just not sure how to do that in the source code on this phone. (or if that's even possible here)
Could someone please link the thread to enable aptx? I am unable to find it or how to do it.
Or at least tell us here how to do it?
I am also getting the crackling over bluetooth, when plugged into an aux jack the sound is amazing, over bt not so much. Also track data is really wonky, it rarely works. When the track changes it shows the song info for a split second then says unknown. I've never had a problem with the track data in my car and this is the 4th device I have used in this car. This is a link I ran across for enabling aptx, don't know if it works I'm not rooted yet.

Just to pitch in -- I get the same crackling on music. Driving me nuts.
When I play music over my car stereo it's great. When I call using sync the person on the other side said it sounds like a whining noise for the entire call. The whining does fluctuate from moderate to extremely loud.

This sounds like a ground issue in your car maybe? Does it change pitch with engine rpm? Mine sounds like when your stereo is up too loud and the bass distorts, except it's only distorting for high's. Much more noticeable when listening to rock or something with a lot of cymbals. Rap/hip hop sounds fine (not really any high's there). Enabling aptx doesn't sound like a solution here, why would enabling a premium sound feature correct this when other devices I have used that don't have aptx sound better than my G2? Not trying to ridicule here just trying to keep the ball rolling. I really believe this is an issue with phone or bt antenna or something.
Good day everyone. I bought one of these receivers without too much research, not knowing there was a big community. This is a true no name...not a joying or Wilson but it looks like those brands.
Everything works find except for one fatal flaw that makes it unusable for me... hah!
Music through USB (flac,mp3,wav) or most apps (soundcloud,VLC) seem to have a "night mode" or "equal volume" effect on music like we would see on home theaters. Anytime two or more sounds play, the loudest sound(could be anything, like a cymbal) will play lower than it should and all the other sounds (voices, instruments) that were already playing before the loud sound will then sound much lower in volume until the loud sound goes away then the regular sounds play louder... It makes it impossible to listen to music.
The strange part is this doesn't happen through the radio nor through the CD (Different apps). I've tried a bunch of music apps and they all sound bad playing source form usb.
Somehow Netflix sounds fine though...
Music sounds bad through Bluetooth from my phone too accept if I stream them with my NAS's Qfile application... then it sounds fine somehow... I don't get it. Clearly software related.
Contacting the seller is no help.
Anyone else ever encounter this? Fix or suggestions?

Any idea what is causing certain apps to get that strange processing but not others?
Hi guys,
I am using bluetooth audio in my car and I noticed just after buying this phone, that when I set phone volume to 100% (in general, any volume above 67%), which I always do, since stock audio is not much powerful, volume changes rapidly during a song. To be more specific - I listen to electronic music and during every kick, volume goes down and up in the gaps between them, so it sounds like a wave. Higher frequencies or silent passages are loud as hell, lower bassy sounds are silent and this changes 2-3 times a second. It rips my ears off.
With my previous phones used in this car (LG G3, Zenfone Max 3), I never had this issue. I even tested some very cheap phones, every single one of them was ok, sound was not even distorted on max phone volume. On any bluetooth headphones it's the same case, so it's not car audio issue. Also when using corded headphones or aux, sound is perfectly fine as it should be.
What I already tried to fix it:
Messing with every setting in developer mode
Unpairing smart watch (just in case)
Tried loads of different audio players - with no EQ on, just flat
Reset to factory settings
Nothing helped. I lost almost a month with Asus "so called" support, I even shot a video for them with clear evidence what is happening. No help, except they tried to make an idiot of me. I get angry just thinking about that communication with them. Am I really the only one with this issue? I don't believe that warranty claim would solve anything and I really want to keep this phone.
Any help would be really appreciated. Thank you.
Try this, Goto Developer Options, activate the "Disable Absolute Volume" toggle (see screenshot). Disconnect and reconnect your Bluetooth connection. Hope it'll work out for you.

I am using JetAudio and optimization is turned off. Tried volume control you suggested, but it makes no difference. Sound is still messed up.
I use Shuttle as music player, bare in mind that every recording has a different mastering approach, thus volume levelling could be varied, especially on first pressed of classic records. Usually I am amplifying low signal wave records manually. But to keep away from such trouble, I suggest Spotify since it has normalizing feature, or turn on this feature if it is available in your music player.

I use poweramp.
It really help you. Give a try.
Do not use any third party equalizer app with Poweramp, use it's own eq .
I use CM's audiofx since it has somewhat subtle enhancement, aggressive sound tweak is nice but after 10 minutes or so, it tends to hurt my (old) ears. So most of the time I turn off EQ in order to preserve original sound, not that always works though, especially when it comes to mainstream records.

I am listening to my offline archive, not using Spotify etc. There is no way how the source file is affected - maybe one, but hundreds of tracks? Nope. If I have 67% volume or less set in my phone, sound is fine (but overall volume is low, since stock audio has no other amplifier. But when phone is set to 100%, no matter how loud I set car audio, sound gets wavy then. No other phone ever had this issue, I tried direct comparison as well.
I managed to do some test for a whole album on my way home, I could declare the volume level as well as connection was quite stable with no apparent bitrate drop. As a matter of fact it's superior than realme 2 pro which was suck big time in audio department. Although it is no comparison to my now dead lg V10, at this price point I can safely say I'm quite satisfied. The stereo is neither after market nor android auto.

I also have the same problem with my Bluetooth headphones (Sony WH CH400) which does not happen on my Redmi 3S (PE 9).
Songs can't hit the high frequencies and sound gets lowered down.
I googled and apparently its the stock Bluetooth stack that doesn't let the bitrate go above certain amount and needs some patching which Asus may not do.

Not yet, I read briefly the forum you advised, but I need to dig in a bit more. Anyway, even this the closest cause, I don't believe that this is issue is bitrate related (but I may be wrong). I still can hear high frequencies in music, but when bassy part comes in, it's like someone turns higher frequencies volume down, so you can hardly hear them. And when bass is gone, volume rises again to "match" volume of lower frequencies. I still did not apply for warranty claim, because according to the forum you posted, I don't want to give up early and try patching the stack (if I will be able to somehow). Nevertheless, I know exactly what reply I would receive after 30 days at after sales service - issue was not found.
