Be careful what u say for I am sending this text from the second legend phone rooted on the same goldcard as my first phone was rooted on.

You dont need a goldcard to root if the phone isnt branded. We dont have branded Legends in Denmark

Indeed every goldcard is unique, but you can use on every phone you want. The image you create to make your goldcard is based on the ID-number (or something like that) of your SD-card and has nothing to do with your phone

I also had this problem trying to unroot my legend. I think that the RUU kept on giving out an error because of my ROM version number being higher than what the RUU was trying to flash.
What I did is I restored the nandroid backup that I had created when I first rooted my phone after I had downgraded my ROM. This restored my phone to 1.31 I think which then meant that I could use the RUU to restore my ROM to stock and am now able to return it.
Hope this helps.

okay..
here goes..
download this file:
LEGEIMG.zip
put it in the root of your SD-card and boot the phone while holding down "volume down"-key..
Wait a bit and the phone will automatically load the zip-file and install the stock rom.. UNROOTED.. That should do the trick..
Krydser fingre for at det lykkedes...
BY THE WAY... When done.. Remember to delete the file afterwards or else the phone will install this and reset the phone completely everytíme you enter bootmenu..

This is the stock unrooted rom to put the phone back to factory default..
I used it on my own phone to get back to completely stock phone..
I checked this just to be sure that it works.. and it does.. Then I rerooted my phone..
But this zip-file (containing .img files of the data, system, user, boot, radio etc.)
is used to get phone back to default..

Thats a great option ! Never thought of it that way. But what will be the software version, bootloader ver and kernel after booting ?
Thanks

Oh.. really can't tell.. didn't check it when I used it - since I was going to root right away.. but try it out then do an OTA update to get latest version..

Since you're rooted(you did root your phone right?), you can't use official updates from HTC. You have to download a ROM from xda forums and flash.

where i can get official rom?
Ok well I'd recommend rooting your phone first. Its very simple. There's a thread in the HTC Aria forums where it guides you step by step on how to root.
Sent from my Liberty CM7
does it work with gratia? have anybody try it?
Yeah it works with every HTC android phone. I would post the link but I'm on from the xda app and don't know how to post the link. Just go to HTC Aria> Android Development> and there's a guide on how to install unrevoked. Just follow that.

If you have a gratia you can't root the phone. The hboot has not been cracked yet. If you received the phone like this you are going to need to send it back for repair. Also there is no released RUU for the stock gratia.

Isn't the gratia almost exactly like the Aria? Because Arias ROMs are from legend and gratia.
Sent from my Liberty CM7
yes it is the same phone but the hboot which is required for root is a newer version on the gratia. The USA aria and asian with 2.1 have an hboot of .57 the gratia / aria 2.2 update in asia have an hboot of 1.01 or something which cannot be hacked hence no root.

Cyanogenmod and LA Roms are not from Legend. LA FR series is from Aria (Asia) and Gratia, which is an Aria with newer firmware, such as the newer HBOOT that jznomoney mentioned, that hasn't been hacked yet.

Better yet, could you start the HBOOT in your phone (turn off, press volume down + power button and a white screen with text will come up) and check its version? It should be 0.57.000
Do you know if someone is working on Gratia looking for a way to root it?
Will be possible to do?

Downgrade from 1.84.61.2 Unsuccessful!

I'm running an Orange HTC Desire HD. I created the GoldCard successfully and succesfully uploaded the downgrade. However I get 'Incorrect CID' error after running the BootLoader. I was using the 1.3 Downgrade.
Current Android Version: 2.2.1
Software No: 1.84.61.2
Build: 1.84.61.2 CL333804 release-keys
Is this above a problem? Is there any successful way to downgrade this?

Thanks for the tool. Its awesome! Is it OK for me to provide it as a downloadable on my own site as will be creating a step-by-step rooting guide for my HTC once I successfully complete it! Awesome tool! Simply brilliant! Thanks again!
I tried using your software but I get an error halfway through creating the downgrade package. As a shortcut I asked Orange to downgrade my Firmware but they couldn't so they sent me brand new handset in the hope that the firmware hadn't been updated but low and behold the new handset is already packing the god awful 1.84 firmware update

you did use the MMC2 number?
did you try it on a few different cards?
http://www.appbrain.com/app/goldcard-helper/name.starnberger.guenther.android.goldcard
i used that after about 6 attempts lol and it worked 1st time!
make sure you selects MMC2!
Just created a Gold Disk using a 4GB SanDisk MicroSD. When I attempted recovery I was greeted with the eponimous 'Incorrect CID' error. So now am creating a Gold Disk using an 8GB Lexar MicroSD. Wish me luck!
Created a Gold Disk using an 8GB Lexar MicroSD. And I STILL get the 'Incorrect CID' error! Will this phone never root?
Are you sure you're using mmc2 number? It caused cid incorrect because you might be using mmc1 or mmc 0
frm bert2662's DHD
I'm in the same boat with an orange htc DHD. This is my second one as I had to send the last one back due to it being unable to receive signal (even though I'd changed the radio settings etc, this one now works but onyl after once again fiddling with the radio settings.
First off I had an issue with the gold card and was getting the same error as you. I used the goldcard helper app, but the first time I tried i entered the mmc0 reverse cid into website which sends the image, the second time it didnt work with mmc2, the third time it was the same code and it didn't work, then finally I realised id mistype the code by 1 digit and that fioxed that error.
then Igot the USB error (no idea why, considering it was working before) reinstalled sync and got rid of that error.
Now I'm getting a 140 bootloader version error and am unable to get past this, i have downloadedtried the RUU_Ace_HTC_WWE_1.72.405.3_R_Radio_12.28e.60.14... and the
RUU_Ace_HTC_WWE_1.32.405.6_Radio_12.28b.60.140e..>
from : /shipped/Ace/
but it's having none of it.
any help would be appreciated, the phone is running Android version 2.2.1 (I swear the phone i sent back was either 2.2 or 2.2.2).
Baseband version
12.28g.60.140fu_26.05.05.27_M3
Build number
1.84.61.2
Am I going to have to wait until a build number rom surpasses that which is already on the phone? This orange branding is awful, and needless. why would I want 2 of every useful app, the second versions being less helpful undeleteable orange branded garbage?
u need to use mmc2... the tool i gave ya.. just reverse the number thro that... follow the guide for the rest... before u make a goldcard make sure u FULL FORMAT ... not quick format but FULL FORMAT ur sdcard using FAT32..
Thanks man, I think I've been using the wrong mmc, I was using mmc 0 and 1. I will try it using mmc 2. Thanks for the heads up!

download goldcard helper from the market... open it there in the 1st like u will see mmc2.. just copy that number.. paste it on the website in given in the guide.. u will recieve an email with ur goldcard.img and then follow the rest of the guide
I wish the GoldCard Tool could be modified to include MMC 2 as a selectable as opposed to just MMC 0 and 1.

Installed original rom, i cant upgrade

Hi everyone,

Just flash a Froyo RUU (Starting with 2.x) from the Shipped ROMs site:

i already did that but i will try it again. It wont harm my phone
You are already updated then. There is no official release after Android 2.2.1
I did that with android 2.1 not with 2.2

I hope u know that (froyo = android 2.2.1) and (eclair = android 2.1)
BTW, I saw only one froyo RUU in the buzz shipped roms website till date (excluding cn one). It is named like RUU_BUZZ_FROYO_HTC_WWE . It applies to u if ur device is debranded one. No matter what ur device is it even applies to u on making a gold card.
Then if ur device is carrier specific or regional specific then u can also do ota update manually. Download OTA_BUZZ_FROYO.zip of ur region . Rename it to update.zip and put it in the root of memory card (fat32). Then power off the device. Then hold volume down + power key. U will see hboot menu. After 10sec, then select recovery (power button for selection and vol keys for navigation) . Then u will see a red triangle. Now press vol up + power. Then it shows the option something like "apply sdcard update". Go with that. Make sure u have enough battery before doing this.
And ur phone can also be sold without updating I think. As the eclair one is also stock.
Hey If I want to install the ROM that came with the phone which one of the two should I use
RUU_Buzz_hTC_Asia_India_1.25.720.1_Radio_13.45.55.24_3.35.15.31_release_142213_signed.exe which is 133 MB
OR
OTA_Buzz_Froyo_hTC_Asia_India_2.25.720.1-1.25.720.1_release_161546bwou4mclajggz2mu.zip which is only 58.3 MB
My phone is still unrooted. I would like to have a backup of the Original ROM ready just in case since my phone is still under warranty. Btw why is there a huge diff in size between the two ROMS?? Thanks a lot!!

The second is a ZIP which only contains the Froyo Update. It is not an RUU. So, your choice is limited to the first one.
My phone specs currently are :
Android version : 2.2.1
Baseband Version : 13.55.55.24H_3.35.20.10
Kernel version : 2.6.32.21
Build Version : 2.25.720.1
Software number : 2.25.720.1
So can I use the RUU first to install the Android OS and then use the OTA to update???

I am planning to use alpharevX to install the CM 7.0.3 stable mode. But since my cell is still under warranty (I bought it 3 months ago) I would like to revert back to the Original ROM so that I don't have warranty issues incase I have to submit the phone to the service centre.

Ok.
But presently there is no option to revert back to stock if u use alpharevX. Reverting back requires "hboot downgrader" which is yet to be released by alharevX. But I think it will not take much time .
Ok. Think again before going with alharevX. And if u make s-off do not make hard reset untill u make a nandroid backup.

He didn't have S-OFF. As for whether you want to root, it's totally your decision. BTW, pretty much everyone's Wildfire's here are still under warranty atleast officially, because if I am not mistaken it was launched in July 2010.

Yeah that's what I figured too. Thanks a lot for giving me the info. And yeah your right it was released in July 2010, so most of the phone have been rooted whilst they were under warranty.
One more question, If I do plan to root my phone using the alpharevX method, is there any way of recovery if something does go wrong???
I'm planning to use the CM 7.0.3 stable version. Any idea of how good it is??
I really appreciate your help!
I cannot say that with 100.00% certainty, because, its writes your HBoot, which is an extremely sensitive process, but, seeing how no one has got a bricked phone so far (If there are issues, all of them are resolvable, and, in all cases, the process fails, leaving the phone as it was before), you should be safe, if you do decide to go for it.

If u have issues with hboot 1.01.0002 then u can downgrade it to hboot 1.01.0001 by the process given by ieftm which will be in the wildfire dev section. But I haven't heard issues with Indian hboot 1.01.0002 if I'm correct.

This is the latest ruu for our phone... Just download it and change the name to PD15IMG.zip , and flash via bootloader like you did before

0.o ...how might i have done this w/o rooting? (for learning purposes)
i might root again for more EXP w/ it, but not now... i dont like losing my apps and personal settings lol
In exactly the same way as you did.
Rooting doesn't affect bootloader whatsoever, unless you flash the engineering one. And any of them will accept the stock PD15IMG.ZIP.
Update that seems to have killed the phone??
I am unfamiliar with the HTC root process and most of it's devices, but I have a friend that got her phone updated and it is now freezing, not sending or receiving messages, and rebooting randomly. She got it done at a store as her phone is no longer under contract and she is using it pre pay. Any help in getting her phone updated properly would be very much appreciated.
I'm used to Samsung, so I know that the root process may take a bit for me to get used to. Thanks in advance for any help. It is very much appreciated.

Place file named PD15IMG.ZIP on root of sd card. Make sure it is named exactly that, including all caps. Reboot into bootloader. It will detect the file and ask if you want to update. Click yes and cross your fingers. Should work fine, but there is always a risk when flashing anything. Good luck.

You have to do full wipe. What Recovery you are using?
Hi. Boot into recovery and then do a full swipe and then try to flash the ROM.
Don't re root you only have to root once.

Don't try to root it again !!! Only one!! You will brick ur phone. As I can see you have to flash the stock RUU again and then flash a custom ROM.

Yeah, I see. He did not know what he was doing. In that case he must flash it using fastboot w/ command prompt over windows. I dont know if its s-on or s-off, he might take another path which is more advanced.
