Installed original rom, i cant upgrade - Wildfire General

Hi everyone,
I want to sell my wildfire so i installed an original rom on it. I wanted to check everyone so i tried to update to froyo but i can't find any updates. Please help.

Just flash a Froyo RUU (Starting with 2.x) from the Shipped ROMs site:
http://shipped-roms.com/index.php?category=windows mobile&model=Buzz

i already did that but i will try it again. It wont harm my phone

You are already updated then. There is no official release after Android 2.2.1

I did that with android 2.1 not with 2.2

I hope u know that (froyo = android 2.2.1) and (eclair = android 2.1)
BTW, I saw only one froyo RUU in the buzz shipped roms website till date (excluding cn one). It is named like RUU_BUZZ_FROYO_HTC_WWE . It applies to u if ur device is debranded one. No matter what ur device is it even applies to u on making a gold card.
Then if ur device is carrier specific or regional specific then u can also do ota update manually. Download OTA_BUZZ_FROYO.zip of ur region . Rename it to update.zip and put it in the root of memory card (fat32). Then power off the device. Then hold volume down + power key. U will see hboot menu. After 10sec, then select recovery (power button for selection and vol keys for navigation) . Then u will see a red triangle. Now press vol up + power. Then it shows the option something like "apply sdcard update". Go with that. Make sure u have enough battery before doing this.
And ur phone can also be sold without updating I think. As the eclair one is also stock.

Hey If I want to install the ROM that came with the phone which one of the two should I use
RUU_Buzz_hTC_Asia_India_1.25.720.1_Radio_13.45.55.24_3.35.15.31_release_142213_signed.exe which is 133 MB
OR
OTA_Buzz_Froyo_hTC_Asia_India_2.25.720.1-1.25.720.1_release_161546bwou4mclajggz2mu.zip which is only 58.3 MB
My phone is still unrooted. I would like to have a backup of the Original ROM ready just in case since my phone is still under warranty. Btw why is there a huge diff in size between the two ROMS?? Thanks a lot!!

The second is a ZIP which only contains the Froyo Update. It is not an RUU. So, your choice is limited to the first one.

My phone specs currently are :
Android version : 2.2.1
Baseband Version : 13.55.55.24H_3.35.20.10
Kernel version : 2.6.32.21
Build Version : 2.25.720.1
Software number : 2.25.720.1

So can I use the RUU first to install the Android OS and then use the OTA to update???

Why do u want u use ruu + ota when u are on stock froyo already.
That build number is stock froyo afaik. Instead use alpharevX and then install custom roms if u need.

I am planning to use alpharevX to install the CM 7.0.3 stable mode. But since my cell is still under warranty (I bought it 3 months ago) I would like to revert back to the Original ROM so that I don't have warranty issues incase I have to submit the phone to the service centre.

Ok.
But presently there is no option to revert back to stock if u use alpharevX. Reverting back requires "hboot downgrader" which is yet to be released by alharevX. But I think it will not take much time .
Ok. Think again before going with alharevX. And if u make s-off do not make hard reset untill u make a nandroid backup.

Oh!! But how did yesjohn in this post go back to the original ROM. I guess he used another method to root. Anyway thanks for the info. Now I'm just a bit worried whether to continue rooting or no since I don't have anything to fall back to incase something happens. Many main concern is the warranty issue!!

He didn't have S-OFF. As for whether you want to root, it's totally your decision. BTW, pretty much everyone's Wildfire's here are still under warranty atleast officially, because if I am not mistaken it was launched in July 2010.

Yeah that's what I figured too. Thanks a lot for giving me the info. And yeah your right it was released in July 2010, so most of the phone have been rooted whilst they were under warranty.
One more question, If I do plan to root my phone using the alpharevX method, is there any way of recovery if something does go wrong???
I'm planning to use the CM 7.0.3 stable version. Any idea of how good it is??
I really appreciate your help!

I cannot say that with 100.00% certainty, because, its writes your HBoot, which is an extremely sensitive process, but, seeing how no one has got a bricked phone so far (If there are issues, all of them are resolvable, and, in all cases, the process fails, leaving the phone as it was before), you should be safe, if you do decide to go for it.

If u have issues with hboot 1.01.0002 then u can downgrade it to hboot 1.01.0001 by the process given by ieftm which will be in the wildfire dev section. But I haven't heard issues with Indian hboot 1.01.0002 if I'm correct.

HTC Wildfire will get Tough to Root after 2.2 Froyo Update

As per a forum member of XDA-Developers , he states that HTC Wildfire Which is soon to get its Official 2.2 Froyo Update , Is a good news for some , but will give tough times to others , other uses who wish to Root their Android Device.
In Details warriorvibhu Explains that HTC Wildfire will be provided with a OTA Update with HBoot , a Bootloader which would be harder to crack / modify in order to Root the device.
What do you think about this???

Just install danne_Jo's ROM and forget about ruu and losing root.

Downgrade???
Do you think the technical staffs of HTC com can downgrade this ROM to OS 2.1? They invent the upgrade utility software, so do you think they can do downgrade???? I am going to the warranty my device. How do you think so?
I am wondering the same, what would happen when I try to flash the 1.37 RUU back on the phone?
If you have upgraded to the offical Froyo either OTA or from RUU your stuck in a hole.
The update changed the bootloader in the Wildfire meaning it is currently impossible to root (which rules out custum ROMS) and you can't role back to a previous RUU because they are written with the old boot loader.
Thats what the original OP of this thread is about.....the fact that it could be a while before it's going to get re rooted via unrevoked or any other method.
So your just gonna have to wait until rooting is supported again by Unrevoked or some other app, or some clever sod figures out how to change the new Boot loader.
Hope someone figures it out soon :/

Since you're rooted(you did root your phone right?), you can't use official updates from HTC. You have to download a ROM from xda forums and flash.

Ok well I'd recommend rooting your phone first. Its very simple. There's a thread in the HTC Aria forums where it guides you step by step on how to root.

does it work with gratia? have anybody try it?
Yeah it works with every HTC android phone. I would post the link but I'm on from the xda app and don't know how to post the link. Just go to HTC Aria> Android Development> and there's a guide on how to install unrevoked. Just follow that.

If you have a gratia you can't root the phone. The hboot has not been cracked yet. If you received the phone like this you are going to need to send it back for repair. Also there is no released RUU for the stock gratia.

Isn't the gratia almost exactly like the Aria? Because Arias ROMs are from legend and gratia.

yes it is the same phone but the hboot which is required for root is a newer version on the gratia. The USA aria and asian with 2.1 have an hboot of .57 the gratia / aria 2.2 update in asia have an hboot of 1.01 or something which cannot be hacked hence no root.

Cyanogenmod and LA Roms are not from Legend. LA FR series is from Aria (Asia) and Gratia, which is an Aria with newer firmware, such as the newer HBOOT that jznomoney mentioned, that hasn't been hacked yet.

Will be possible to do?

[Q] XTC Clip and 2.2.1

Hi everyone.
I have a two questions about the XTC clip that I can't find an answer to using search.
When I purchased the phone it came with the unrootable hboot and Android 2.2.1.
I have sourced a HTC clip and will be unlocking my Wildfire today. Once unlocked will I need to flash an older version of hboot - to then allow me to install a custom rom? or can I just install a custom rom as soon as it's done?
My second question is has anyone actually done this and can confirm it works?
Thanks!
xtc clip -> s-off ->
downgrade phone with ruu rom -> hboot 0.8 ->
unrEVOked for root ->
costum rom.
The phone is now set to s off!
Know where I can get the Rom to downgrade?
Thanks!

you really need to stop what youre doing. If you already could read, you would already know that you cant download xtc clip. Its an item you BUY on http://www.xtcclip.com and not a piece of software.
And NO it does not help asking the same questions 10 times, and then starting making private messages to people asking the same questions.
Now, start to grow up, use the search buttom and search for help, like the most of us. If you cant do that then I'm not sure you should ever bought a phone like android where you can make so many changes.
If you ever get it rooted, what can we then experience from you ? Questions about how you repair it from the disasters you have applied it ?
So start searching...... the answers are there including those you ask all the time. They have been answered.

Thanks,
Downloading it at the moment - Thanks very much for the help. So I'm right in thinking this will downgrade my current hboot to a previous version - which will then let me install Cyanogen and other custom roms?
This is my first HTC phone so I have never actually rooted one before!
Hope this works.

No need of downgrade or Unrevoked if already S-OFF
Sorry to "disappoint" you guys but there is no need to downgrade & Unrevoked at all, if the smart is set to S-OFF.
Explanation is here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=12188132&postcount=15
NOTE: The method is successfully tested on several smarts.
If you want to suck the MAX of Wildfire try CyanogenMod 7 RC2 (need to reflash the radio to fix GPS), or better wait a while for stable release - coming soon.

It doesn't. Because the hacked HBoot is v6.x and the official is v1.x at most.
Nvm....
Thought you are talking about splash image.
try installing a ruu, It will still hboot 6x, but maybe donĀ“t realise...
What ROM are you using? ...if you don't mind me asking...
since your warranty is now void (sorry mate! ) the least you could do is have some fun and try a few ROMs out....
You saying after using AlpharevX..... Alpharevx doesn't actually root your phone per se, you did flash ClockworkMod Recovery and the superuser zip (in this order) afterwards, right?
If you are still using good old Froyo from the HTC ROM without any tweak whatsoever (to name one...SetCPU)... you should probably try and play around with your newly-rooted phone (if it is rooted, that is).
Oh one more thing, give CyanogenMod a shot, it did wonders for me

But as already said, the only one that can revert your hboot are the people of AlphaRev. Sorry to tell you, but you must have known that as it probably was one of the "wach out this is still a beta version"-warranties

My HTC Evo Shift's touch screen stopped working partially.
Above 70% of the screen won't work vertically anymore. (Horizontal is fine).
I am going to take it into the store.
Do I need to get rid of everything including root and recovery?
What will they check?

Never take a Device in for service while Rooted. Some Techs will check, others will not. But if they do find that it's Rooted they can flag your account. Not what you want . Also they may try and say that the issue is because you rooted your device. If you are going to RUU I would use the RUU HERE. That way it will be easier to re-root your device afterward. One question, did you Update your Radio's and Touchscreen Firmware yet?
Why will it be easier to root my device?
Do I need to flash stock recovery? Or will they not check for this?
It will be easier to Re-Root your device if you RUU to 2.2, as opposed to 2.3.4 . Mostly because there are less steps involved. Once you RUU it will take the device to Factory fresh out of the box. Stock everything.
You don't think they'll be suspicious that I am still running froyo?
I am thinking about just calling sprint instead and seeing if they'll agree to do a replacement ahead of time. In that case, I can just RUU to 2.3.4 and not care since I'm not getting it back.
It depends on the Tech. Some techs don't care, as long as the device is not Rooted. Some may ask, but you just tell them you've never taken an Update. Calling Sprint ahead of time will most likely not do anything. They're going to want to check the device anyway. You can RUU to 2.3.4 then re-root later. It will just take a few more steps.

Yes, majority of the techs will be suspicious about you being on froyo... Android users are anal about their ota updates and very few users skip ota updates except rooted users... I state this from experience, as I brought in a shift unrooted on froyo a few months ago and than ended up at sprint for over an hour answering their questions... I got my replacement device but I will NEVER bring in a device not running the latest firmware...

In my experience it depends where you take it to have it serviced. If you go to a Corporate store, they check out stuff a lot more. But the up side is they are quicker to resolve an issue. The privately owned stores usually do not check the device out that in depth. If they can't fix the issue immediately, they usually just give you some options about getting another.

So, where do I get the stock 2.3.3 (or 2.3.4) RUU or zip file?
I can only find the 2.2 version.
Just run the exe then do the software upgrade

Thats kind of a pain.
I used http://goo.im/stock/speedy/ruu/PG06..._1.88_0128_PRL60674_release_196686_signed.zip
However, after it updated to S-ON, it says "Main Version is older! Update fail"
Do I need to use the 2.2 RUU?
EDIT:fastboot getvar version-main
2.77.651.3
Hrm. Did I screw up here?
Can I still use the 2.2 RUU?
Do I need to use the downgrade techniques to get it to downgrade?
EDIT2: I flashed the misc.img in order to trick hboot into installing 2.3.4 stock.
I'm not sure if I was suppose to have to do that.. but whatever, it worked.

Wait . What are you trying to accomplish? I thought you wanted to take it in for service. If you still want to take it in just run the 2.3.4 .exe RUU I've attached below. It will Update your device to 2.3.4 ,and done . Then you can take it in for service.
2.3.4 SPEEDY GB .exe RUU

I already got it flashed... so the issue is solved.
But, are you sure just using the RUU will work?
I was having issues because I was trying to install 2.76 "main-version" when the installed version was 2.77 or something, and it wouldn't let me downgrade.
As far as I understand both the file I linked and the one you posted validate against the version.
Therefore, I had to flash the misc.img for the TB (like you do to downgrade to 2.2), and then i was able to do it fine.
Glad you got it sorted. Yes, any of the Speedy RUU's should work. So long as you are Fully Rooted ( S-OFF ). If not then you can only Upgrade RUU.

I see. The issue with the PG06IMG is that the first thing it does is flash the bootlooder to S-ON, and then you can only upgrade.
Thank goodness for that TB misc.img exploit!
Could have really screwed myself over there. I'll have to be more careful in the future.
Always here to help
Where's the RUU for 2.2? Prboy, the link you posted was for 2.3 if its possible, can some post a link for 2.2? I tried searching but didn't find it. I'm on mobile so that's why
