Ok so the benchmarks on youtube I have been seeing for evo is average around 8 MFLOPS on linpack and 400 or below for quadrant.. When I get around 1166 for quadrant and 32-34 MFLOPS on linpack.. How is this because they do this testing evo with one or more devices and im on stock froyo.. Anyone have numbers for stock or overclocked or rooted? Just would like to see some numbers to compare..

2.2 increased linpaq scores because it is not JIT enabled. Also speeds up other benchmark tools.
also do a search for neifs rom comparison chart that is posted somewhere here.

so my g2 with 1.3 oc is scoring 44 on linpack. when i click top devices... i see people scoring into the 50's 60's and beyond on the same speed overclock that i have on. how are they pulling such good scores? is there a hack out i'm not aware of?
last time I checked someone also got around 250. I'm assuming some of those scores are flukes?

People cheat all the time because they want to be seen (aka being at the top of a leaderboard)
Not everything on teh internetz is true.
The linkpack scoreboard was always full of nonsense. I think it must be easy to spoof.
So DK28 is supposedly 2.2.1 but I ran Quandrat with the stock rom and it comes up 873, almost exactly the same as Galaxy S 2.1, leading me to believe that JIT is not in the rom. Correct?

I may be wrong but quadrant:
1) Isn't the best way to base performance
2) Doesn't really show improvements that JIT provides
Download linpack if you want and your score should be around a 14 or so, compared to the 8.5-9 on 2.1
Quadrant isn't a real life benchmark, and is highly flawed. Check out Quantum's "warp speed edition" ROM for proof.

I got 1205 with stock dk28 but I have noticed others reporting lower scores. Variability in testing with a bad benchmark perhaps?
I've got 1839 lol... For some reason I doubt that's accurate
I did a quadrant test with a stock epic 2.1 and an epic on dk28 and the scores were pretty much the same every time. The major difference was that the Froyo epic ran the cpu benchmarks much faster but hung during the first I/O test. The 2.1 epic ran everything about the same speed and completed the whole test much faster than the froyo epic.
I also noticed this and posted in another thread...
to quote myself
I was getting around 8.3xx in 2.1, and now I'm getting 13.7xx in 2.2.
(I used the 1506bdf2e04b.update-SPH-D700_DI18ToDK28.zip renamed to update.zip method.)
Saw a video the other day showing a nexus 1 scoring 20+ on 1st run and 40+ on 2nd.. My friends Evo (with 2.2) scored @ 38 or so..
Quadrant still shows me well under all of the 2.2+ phones listed.

I expected a bit more of an increase..
I too am wondering if the JIT was left out of our Froyo (if that's even possible, I'm still a total nube to andriod stuff).
What exactly is JIT, does it speed the phone up?

Just In Time compiling...
From what I know about .Net (I'm a C# coder), it allows for compilation of the app for the specific CPU during the 1st run.
Someone please correct me if this differes from andriod's JIT...
the epic has fast computation hw between the cpu and gpu, it could be the case that the JIT benefit doesn't show in the benchmark margins.
the device is a fast one, all compared.
Those with some of those unstable Gingerbread releases... has anyone run any 3d benchmarks?
I want to see what FPS the Quadrant 2D/3D benchmarks get.
Also, Nenamark, an3dBenchmark, Neocore, GL Benchmark (http://www.glbenchmark.com/)..
So yeah. If anyone can hint in on this please tell me. I want to know if Gingerbread improves 3d performance.
Linpack gets 40-42.
Quadrant i can get 1600 or so
On neocore i got 32fps.

Any specifics on the Quadrant score? Specifically the 3d part? What FPS did you get generally from the First Person Shooter, Planets, and the Orange Pattern/Leaves?
I get around 12fps on the shooter, 40fps on the planets, and 17fps on the orange one. Froyo Myn's w/ Baked Kernel 6.
Thanks again.
I finally found my answer.
The answer is yes! Gingerbread does increase graphical performance.
http://translate.google.com/transla...osp-dandroid-gingerbread-2-3/&hl=en&prmd=ivns
It shows multiple 3d benchmarks with all the performance increases with the unstable Gingerbread builds.
Awesome!
Hope this helps sometone, lol.
Most people on this forum have tinkerer with their xoom, and at some point ran quadrant and linpack. I'm curious as to who has the fastest benchmark xoom.
We all know benchmarks don't mean squat in the real world but its still cool to OC it and see what it will do.
So post up your quadrant and linpack scores and at what speed
Mine @ 1.6
Quadrant 4513, it ran 4517 however was unable to get a screen shot.
68.772 linpack. Ranks 124 of all devices
I got 4157 as my highest on quad (1.6 ghz) but I got a 69.4 on linpack (screenshot lost when I had to flash stock images to recover, also at 1.6 ghz) ( its a GIF, so the app doesn't like it)

This is kinda weird for a brag I guess, but I get 3758 on quadrant and 60 on linpack with the 1.4ghz 1.4.2 kernel.
Quadrant is very inaccurate the tests are not up to spec for testing +1Ghz devices accurately.
The reason i say this is due to the fact that the benchmark varies from test to test.
I suggest AnTutu Benchmark.
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.antutu.ABenchMark
It is much more accurate, as the the scores are closely similar time and time again.
The tests are a bit longer
But that is the good thing "accuracy"
It also gives info on each testing stage.
I got 2176 on WB's 007.1 TW rom, BB.67 with custom kernel.

Good, will give it a try but it'd been better if you post this in themes & apps I guess
by the way what scores do you get with this rom in quadrant?
Chainfire released his new benchmarking tool yesterday, its called CF-Bench, search in the market
i've got 1973 on CM6 006 at 1.1Ghz
benchmarking
It does not matter what benchmarking utility you use. They all give you a general idea of the performance of your phone. I think the OP just wants to use the tool that gives him the score he wants to see.
In reality the score of any phone using any utility is always relative to the scores of other phones using the same utility.
The thing to focus on is not the actual figures you get back but how your device measures up to other phones using the same benchmark test.

But it's a good comparison between phones after having a average score for each phone. But like you say, the numbers don't mean anything. Everything is personal.

True about benchmark apps but I don't think I think the OP just wants to use the tool that gives him the score he wants to see. What the OP is saying that with this app the difference between each time's score is not much hence why calling it accurate.
To look for a good benchmark is more important if you use a new phone with dual core CPU cos the old benchmarks aren´t optimised for them. I read that CF-Bench is optimised for dual cores and stresses the CPU and not so much the GPU of the phone.
But interesting that it seems that the overclocking have such a huge influence. With the first run (Wolfbreaks CM6 TW007) i had 2800 points with 1152MHz and in the second run with 998MHz 2400 points.
But true....it´s more a interesting gadget than to take it too seriously

It comes down to what you have happening in the background.
If your phone suddenly "for example" decides to fetch data off of 3G or suddenly refreshes the media midway thru the bench then it can effect your score. this is why it's best to do tests when the rom is clean and gone silent. "no background activity" with data disabled.
Benchmarking is used to place the current performance of a device in a certain category.
It's no different from benchmarking PC's.
A whole profession has been built around PC benchmarking with people competing for a first place.
If your score is higher than everyone else you win the competition.

that thing is scale-able across cores (single/multi-cores) and fairly accurate
