ive put my hd2 on ebay oblivious to the fact that the the way i previe emails is actually incredible on the hd2.
will the streak ,,or does the 2.1/2.2 update it hopes to get cater for previewing emails in such a way?
is there a widget out there for instance that wud update live on the homescreen allowing scrolling?
this would by far put the streak above the hd2 and im thinking of turning back to hd2 in apprehension of this.
does anyone know as ill be new to android? thanks
I have no idea to be honest - Im quite new to Android myself (I also have a HD2) so dont know of any email preview widgets lurking in the Marketplace.
Sounds like you're describing the Dell email widget, which sits on your homescreen and allows you to preview email, scroll through the list and open any emails with a tap...
The Twitter and Facebook widgets work in the same way...

Hi,
I found that there is a new version of Facebook ... version 1.2 (Market).
http://phandroid.com/2010/04/23/facebook-app-updates-adds-inbox-support/
And on my HTC Desire, the version is 112.
Anyone has updated this?
There are 2 facebook apps on my Desire:
- facebook (version 112)
- Facebook for HTC Sense (version 1)
How do you update?
Thanks
i only did the usual way to upgrade,
market -> download, and click on the application, and update.
Any feedback about the version? I see quite a few complaints about force closes on other handsets, how is it in the Desire?
Works just fine on the Desire. My biggest problem is you can't view your messages you have to manually go to the mobile site...oh wait what's this update...messaging feature finally! Now they need to add chat.
yep just updated today.. finally INBOX , otherwise not really seen anything different.
They need to get up to date with this android Facebook app. I did the update today hoping for the notifications to finally work properly, as in notifying me if someone comments on one of my posts! but alas, still no cigar, infact it never seems to notify me of anything. Is it just me?

I get updates but only if I add people with facebook to my Friends Widget..... then it adds a green circle with the number of updates by a friend.
the main app works fine, but the widget doesn't. fails to load each time.
edit: confirm that a reboot does indeed fix the problem.
A reboot of the Desire solved the issue with the widget for me
I've started using Bloo again lately. Much better notifications system, slicker and more comprehensive UI (has its own photo viewer with save option rather than just linking to the mobile site for example) AND there's an update coming this week that adds Facebook Chat.
Bloo doesn't let me log in i get stuck in a login cycle.
There is also multitouch when you view images.
Have you given the App permissions? Works fine on my Desire running generic Rom. Not bothered about multitouch; the only reason the native Facebook app has it is because it opens up the browser and that's CHEATING ;-) the gallery UI is much more slick and user friendly with Bloo, besides which there's little point viewing photos en masse with either of these apps as the standard photo gallery has Facebook album integration which is pretty damn slick
they have added the inbox but still it has few bugs. It cannot show more than 30 threaded messages in a single conversation. Even when someone sends a new message in that same conversation, you can see the preview on the inbox but when you click to go on reading it loads first 30 messages.
So im still stuck with the mobile facebook to see my messages. ..
anyone know the workaround of this?
I just want an update that lets me tag photos! I don't understand why this is taking so long
The update for Bloo has been coming for a few months. However, I can send you 1.5 (w/ chat) a bit later? PM if you want.
Also, I can't see the new update. I'm already on 1.2 :s Does the new version allow contact sync like the Nexus FroYo version?
Edit: New version sounds like the version I've had for some time now :s

Anybody else using Dell Stage? It's the unreleased launcher for the Dell streak. I loaded it up on my Evo yesterday and it works great. The only bugs are the Phone icon not working and the Social widget not logging you in. Anybody out there tried it or have an update for it?
Posted from my EVO 4G running Azrael 2.4 with Dell Stage
I installed in a little while ago. I had the same issues on a Sense rom, so I switched to the Cyanogen rom and the phone icon works now and the email does to. The email doesn't show up on the screen but it does allow you to add an address.
The contact pictures don't sync correctly from Facebook so unless you have contact photos stored locally or via Google contacts with your email, the pictures won't show on the contacts widget.
I cannot seem to find any settings for it. I don't know if there are any.
All in all it works well and it's refreshing to try a launcher that isn't stock, but also isn't sense.
Hi guys had the phone for around.d 3 weeks I think now love the phone screen is so crisp espesh when watching films it comes to its own. The only problem I have found and can not sort out is contact sync I want only the contact on my phone to be sync with facebook not everyone I have there also I have 3x each person sim phone and sync been playing g for days now it is easy on my hd2 any help plz

Yep I have the same issue. I cannot stand the way this phones handles contacts and syncing. I have yet to find a way to just add contacts the good old fashion way as static data on the memory card which is what I want.
Sadly I have removed everything facebook from the phone just to keep the contacts out despite un-ticking sync contacts
come on guys there must be someone with a way round this problem
....
Well, the only solution I found so far is to visit htcsense.com and edit all the contacs in there. So instead of having three contacts each with different information, I just have one contact with all the information.
But it took me about 6h to edit all the contacs
lol not really a 'solution' is it.....
i have done this now takes ages as it loads up all contacts every time. there must be another way to sort this out i love my DHD but this is rely doing my head in now. I get a bigger list when i go to tex and add a contact in there all my FB contacts come up not much fun when you have 300+ in there all with funny stuff instead of numbers come on guys you can cook up new Roms but no one knows this problem HELP plz
Use your Google contact list... It really can't possibly get any better than that.
I am, but that doesn't stop facebook populating everything. Why can't I have Facebook for HTC sense without it putting all the contacts in there...
Open the People app
Tap menu
Tap View
You can disable the other contact lists

Oh wait to they're still in the dialer aren't they... sucks!

Exactly!!!
OK I just disabled HTC facebook completely, and now just use the native Android app. It properly supports "existing contacts only"
It's not like HTC's app or widget are particularly good anyway

I am currently running a SenseHD Based ROM, however stripped of the Sense UI (baadnewz lite). This means that I have all of the key HTC system apps (mail, calendar, dialer, people, camera, etc), but none of that Sense UI and launcher (rosie, etc.) Instead I use launcher pro.
The down side is that I cannot use the very nice Sense provided widgets. If I did, I could use the Mail widget to show the email that is received from the Mail application, which is configured to read from an exchange account (push). But since I cannot use this widget, I have to rely on other widgets to show the email.
The problem is that no mail widget that I have found can be "fed" by the HTC Mail app. It doesn't seem to expose the email so that widgets (other than the Sense widgets) to display the email. In other words, every other widget doesn't allow me to select the email account that the Mail application is using.
Alternatives would be to use K9 Email + pure messaging widget, which works, but I loose the ability for push mail.
The funny thing is that the HTC calendar app --does-- expose the calendar events to other widgets. I am able to select my exchange account in the widget settings.
Am I hosed here? Does anyone know of a way I can use an email widget that is fed by the mail from the HTC Mail widget?
I thought that the email and calendar emails/events gets pushed to a central DB for others apps to cherry pick from? I guess this isn't true?
I don't want to automatically forward the email to another IMAP account (say gmail) of which another widget could pick that up...
ideas?
I'm subscribing to this thread... would like to know this as well...
would like go know too, im searching for a real nice Mail widget Hut coudnt find anythingn.
now i forward ms Mails go ms googlemail anderen Push it from there go gmail...
I stubled on the blog of the creater of the EmailWidget.
His widget can gain access to the mail from the HTC Mail widget by forcing the install of the widget to the /system area.
See http://blog.invalidobject.com/android-app-email-widget/comment-page-1
I asked him if this nice side effect would occur for all apps (i.e.: other widgets) to gain access to the mail provided by the HTC Mail.....
If this is possible.. then we are looking good!
On some HTC devices like HTC Desire or Samsung Galaxy with Android 2.1 you even don't need to install my app as system app.
I don't know of any other app that is capable of showing mails from htc mail app. That was the main reason i built my app. But it is certainly possible to implement other widgets that could gain access like my app does.
Regards,
Frank
Perhaps this thread can be moved over to the Desire Android Development forum - someone may know how to expose, and or disclose, the mail from the HTC Mail app, with or without root. There has been some hesitation in incorporating a potential integration in some mail widgets (ahem, Pure Messenger) because it requires root and is kinda "hacky" in nature.
The app either has a provider or not. I am not exactly sure why the widget being co-located with the HTC Mail app on /system is required.
The lack of a capable email widget is making me re-think my decision to go senseless!
Try Executive Assistant. Don't recall but I'm not running Sense to test.

Nah, you need K9 for that to read the exchange mails...
i want a tool where i dont need to install any other exchange tool ... Something like EMail Widget was perfect , but you need to have root on a desire Z stock 2.2 rom....
too bad though...

So I'm new having just moved to Android from WM, and have configured all my accounts on the phone (that's 7 email accounts under Accounts), now my problem is simple I see no way to actual see existing messages in the inbox's, when I get a mail it shows up in notifications, but other than the gmail accounts (all 5 of which are available from the gmail app if separately), getting to the yahoo, msn or aol accounts (mostly used of IM, but mail does go to them some times) is just not easy. I really expected more from Android when it comes to email accounts. I've seen programs like Enhanced Email or Pure Messenger in the market place, but before I went and sent money, I thought I'd ask if there was something I'm missing built in or free?
On the same note I'm finding the Widgets that are provided for Google voice, are ugly and others say for email are simply not present at all. All of this is making me miss my HTC Sense interface on WM. However there I'd expect solutions for all of these issue, which is what I'm looking for.
Thanks,
ERIC
You'll find all your emails in the messaging app

I know the app you are suggesting, but so far it always says no emails, yet the gmail app shows well over a hundred, so as far as I can tell its not working, also like to crash on me, so I do not think it is a solution.
Thanks,
ERIC
You can try K9-Mail for an e-mail client. Works amazing for me.

have you configured the email accounts in their respective sections in MESSAGING app as has already been suggested? the app works fine here, so if you are having problems, factory reset and try again. i dont really understand what the problem is. your question originally was how to access them, then when told how to access them you say it's not working. if its not working, start there and figure out WHY its not working......THAT would be your problem, wouldnt it?
not trying to be hostile or funny here, but if you love HTC Sense, you do know there are plenty of androids running HTC sense right?
or you can wait for a HTC Sense ROM
I have five accounts running with no problem. Try a factory reset like someone else suggested.

By default its only set to sync the past 3 days of mail. Go into account settings from the messaging app and bump it up to 30 days. 30 days is the max which is a bummer. On my past win mobile you could tell it to sync all mail.
