Default widget above digital clock - XPERIA X10 General

Dear all members,
I accidentally remove the small status widget above the digital clock whereby if you have a new sms or answered call, there is a tile reflecting the last call or sms?
How do I enable it back? Please advise me if you know, thanks.

would that be timescape?
long press on the screen, choose widget, then scroll to timescape. (or try the other ones there)

Yes, you are right! That is the timescape I am talking about.
Thanks for your help!
What about the email signature for those pop3 email accounts? Anyone know where to set that?

[Q] G-Mail App Not Showing New Updates

The gmail icon on my homescreen never displays the little red number in the corner for unread messages. Is there a way to change this or is there a better e-mail client for gmail?
To get that icon, I believe it came with my Launcher Pro Icon set and there was an option to 'show notifications' or something like that. Do you have Launcher Pro?
The Gmail app doesn't have a widget. A good widget to get that functionality is "Gmail Unread Count" available in the market.
Yes, I am using LauncherPro but it still didn't work after I clicked the notifications.
The Gmail Unread Count did work though, thanks.
Actually if you are referring to the small red ballon in the dock icon (see attached image at bottom) that shows unread Gmails, it is Launcher Pro. You go into preferences then dock settings and click on email notifications. You can also see missed text messages a well! I'm not referring to a widget.

Just wanted to add that this is only for the DOCK icon. I don't think it's applicable to a home screen icon.

[Q] How to send new SMS or MMS to contacts?

Ok, this is really bothering me. I know if you go to the contacts list you can choose to dial or text, but if you choose to send a new sms from messaging how do you get it to go to contacts? It doesn't auto complete and it doesn't recognize if you just use the name. The same thing happens in pictures or the gallery. Like the other night I chopped off the tip of my left pointer finger and wanted to share the picture with my brother, but I didn't have the time to navigate through the contacts before I needed some paper towels. Is there an easier way?
Yes. Use handcent app. Its miles better

Been using Handcent for a couple days. I like the easy access to contacts, but I'm unsure about the screen waking up every time and the fact that it gives me 3 separate notifications in the status bar for each message. Thanks for your suggestion.
Hi maye, go into messaging app and turn off notifications... You would only get 1 notification then

Email notification

My problem is this when for example I get an sms notification icon in the top bar I tap on my messages app and read it. The icon in the notifications bar goes without me having to clear it in the notifications panel. However this is not the case with emails if I do the same the only way to clear the icon is to do it by pressing clear button in the notifications panel. Any ideas why this is and how I can get it to do the same as a sms notification?

Also I view my emails in the all accounts tab, I have my hotmail and gmail accounts linked with my hotmail account as default.

Hi, just to let you know that I don't have this issue.
When I get an email I get a notification on the top bar and my Mail shortcut on the home screen shows a number in a blue circle. I either tap the mail icon or swipe the notification bar down and tap the notification. I then tap the email to read it, exit out and the notification icon goes.
I would add that the number in blue circle sometimes takes a few extra seconds to disappear though.
For info I'm using an unrooted DHD with stock ROM - incidentally I also use Advanced Task Cleaner 2.0, but I doubt that would make any difference in notifications?
I feel for you though as it would really bug me if the notification icon didn't go! I hope you get your issue resolved.
I have now found if I open the email app with the account view I get this problem. If I open it in the hotmail or gmail view then there is no issue.

Message notification icon

I see the same generic icon when I get an email or text. I can change the sound I get but is it poosible to change the icon to be different for email than texts? I had this on my old droid charge but cant seem to find where to change it on this phone.
I swicthed to Nova launcher but I am not rooted or anything.
Thanks!
You could use an alternate mail app, or use an app which'll notify you of a new SMS and turn off the stock SMS notifications. Take a look at "SMS popup", you can use it for SMS notification without using the popup thing.

[Q ]No email preview on lockscreen?

Does everyone else get previews for unread email on their lockscreen? I get the SMS preview but just the statusbar notification for emails (I'm using the stock email app). Is there some obscure setting for turning this on/off I might have messed with?

Click to collapse
Nope... you may need to wait for a firmware update or use another.email app from google play.

Thought I'd figured it out, but no luck. Another option would be to disable the other notification previews (sms and calls) and use DashClock for the notifications instead, but I can't find a way to do this either on the S4 - apparently it's possible on the HTC One...?
