Hi, I have a question about deleting multiple emails or sms. When I go to either one of them, I can not select more than one (I used to have X1 and when I clicked on one of them and keep scrolling down, I could select more than one). Is there any way? Do I need to dowload a program?
Thanks!

If you want to delete a whole sms thread, then you can just long press on it and you should get a popup where u can choose delete entire thread
No idea about email - the inbuilt mail app sucks anyway
Thanks, but the what I more need to know is how do I delete multiple emails, instead of deleting each individually and just click on one and scroll down until I select the ones I want to delete. I guess is not possible...that really sucks
I feel like a broken record, and honest I don't work for them, but Handcent SMS allows you to delete multiple threads. It does lots of other stuff too.
The email app does absolutely suck, but having looked for the answer on this before I believe it is an android problem not just an X10 prob. Not found any answers on any of the forums that I lurk on.

The 2 most popular email apps are K-9 Mail, and Droidmail. I personally prefer K-9, but both are better than the regular email app that comes with android.
Multi-Select delete, and all of those great options are there in K-9.
Ok thanks! Hope they do something soon for this matter.

Ooooh thanks for the heads up. Must have missed this one on my trolling thru. Downloading now. See, it is true you learn something new everyday!
Update... have downloaded it and finally found a way to get rid of the gmail folders, as I dont use them, that are a constant on the stock app. Loving it so far. Thanks again
For deleting multiple sms without wiping a thread, there's an app called sms cleaner. Couple of different options for deleting messages including by date received and keyword. Some reviews say it doesn't work, but it's because the numbers don't reflect instantly. Waiting a bit after closing the messaging app and checking later will show the correct number of messages remaining.

Threaded SMS is nice but if I have 5+ SMS messages in my inbox, I have to open one, read, goback to the main screen, click the next unread message, etc.
It would be nice to be able to read the next unread message by click Next or a shortcut key.
Is this possible? Anyone seen an application that does this?
There is no native way to disable threaded SMS and I don't know of an app that does as it's very much superior to standard message collecting. If there was an app I would be surprised.
Threr are several SMS apps on the market.. I'm sure one will do what you ask - it's something that annoys me too... haven't had time to try the different ones though.
None of the 3rd party ones do MMS as far as I know, so I'm currently stuck on the stock one. If that's not important to you there may be one that suits.

Yea, none of them seem to have that option. The closest thing is SMS Popup. I like it, but it only shows the latest message.
So I am using aContacts to replace the phone (taking recommendations on better Contact Manager apps as well!); however, whenever I receive a missed call and click on the notification at the top it opens up the People app. I have tried to remove the People app but it just tells me that the app is missing when I click the missed call function instead of opening aContacts. I guess I need two applications one to replace Phone and the other to replace People?
Also, I am using handcent for SMS and MMS and wanted to delete Messaging. I deleted it the other day but I noticed I couldn't receive MMS until I added it back.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated and if you all have new app recommendations please don't hold back -- always looking for great apps.
Does anyone have any ideas?
I don't think you can do that without breaking something, as People is a core application.

I stand somewhat corrected. You're trying to replace the people application, which aContacts doesn't do...but when I hit the phone button at the bottom, my phone is asking me if I want to open Phone or aContacts.
So, it doesn't replace the people app, but the phone. When I now look at missed calls and click on the notification, it prompts me to open phone or acontacts.
But the odd thing is, if I select aContacts, it goes back to phone. Weird.

I'm sure I'm not the only one having this issue and just wanted to know you thoughts...
My SMS threads with 400+ are really starting to take a while to open, one of my threads with 600+ takes over 8 seconds before it shows up after I select it (just shows the loading message) and then another 3 - 6 seconds before I can click on the message to reply... Other than deleting the thread, does anyone else know how to resolve this? I find it hard to believe that a 1GHz processor can't handle a thread of 600 messages...
By the way, I have HTX Sense turnes off, I'm running a stock HTC non animated background, only 3 widgets that don't do much, and nothing running in the background (by using Advanced Task Killer @ Fast Reboot).
Thanks You'all for your help!
Rob
Try Handcent SMS, it is almost never slow for me, I have over 2000 messages between me and my wife.

I just want to say thanks- I've used this program before, but never noticed its superiority until now... it really is much faster and better in every way- now I just gotta figure out how to remove the stock SMS notification so I'm not clearing two notifications for each SMS...
Thanks Again,
Rob

Just open the stock messaging app, hit menu, settings, disable notifications.
Don't take this wrong - but why would you need/want/desire to keep 2000 text messages. Are you in a legal battle and need to document everything?
Keeping messages can come in handy, but I prefer to clear out occasionally, so I use SMSBackup (free app) and it copies all my messages to a folder in my GMail account, so I can still search them if I need to get a hold of something in the history. Not to mention the added plus of looking through my messages from a desktop when I want to find a number or address..
Hi,
Nowhere in the manual does it state how to enable a multiple selection of emails.
any help would be appreciated.
I have 462. Hahhahaa!
Go into your mail hub and press the ... (dots) on the bottom right, the second icon that looks like a checklist and says "select" under it allows you to select multiple emails.
Thank you!

Just checked it out. I was here already but don't you still have to check each box individually?
I want to slect all 400+ emails that came in after I set the email up and delete them in one fell swoop.
How do I do this?
Thanks!
It would be easier to delete the account and set it up again.
You can also touch to the left of the email, and it will open the "multiple select" boxes.
If you cannot "select all" and delete, this will be a major disdavantage for this phone.
I receive 40 emails a day.
Please don't tell me each individual email needs to be checked.

I get over 300 emails a day and I do not find the need to delete more than a handful of emails at one time. the clicking to the left approach and selecting multiple works perfectly fine for me.
what emails are you deleting? Is it spam? Does your ISP or company have a good spam filter?

If you receive 300 emails a day or 600 desktop/laptop), wouldn't it be nice to shift/highlight or "select all"?
You are checking 300 on your phone alone.
My 2 year old HTC Fuze could delete all in 2 clicks.

Then go back to your Fuze... if you are asking a question, ask it. If you are complaining about not being able to delete X amount of emails find a workaround... like going on your computer and deleting them from there rather than your phone.
you do realize that unless you're using a pop server, if you delete emails on your comp it'll reflect on your device?
wouldn't it make sense to just delete the spam and whatnot from your computer where it is easier and just read what you need to on the device?
I admit i like keeping a clean account, but damn man 300 is a lot of emails.

I am not complaining. I am asking mr fanboy!!!
I haven't found a way to select all, but if you want to deal with just the unread, you could always shift to the Unread section of your message hub for that account.
Is this Exchange or POP based? I guess I'm really confused about why you want to delete all messages so often (as are so many others) and we just want to help you the best we can.
Well I appreciate your help but I think it is what it is. I personally like "selecting all" 40-50 emails at the end of day and deleting with 1 click.
Nobody sees the benefit of this?

Everyone has their own preferences and finds certain things annoying that others might see no harm in. I agree with the previous poster that if this phone is not to your liking, you may find it better to just go with the old saying 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it' and stay with whatever phone you had previously that performed all these tasks for you.
As I've been poking around these forums to see what other people think of the phone, as I purchased one as well, I've noticed that you seem to only have problems and even stated that "this phone is for kids". Not many people seem to take issue with not being able to sync over 500kb worth of info (which I'm pretty sure is false as I've synced 3 e-mail accounts with different contact info, photos, and hundreds of emails in each), and I don't think most people will take issue with not being able to delete 300 emails at once from their phone. That said, you could probably accomplish it easier by doing it from a computer or accessing your e-mail through the browser instead of the app.
I don't mean to come off as harsh, but as it was stated earlier, this just seems like complaining under the disguise of asking a question, but if you really do find these issues so staggering, the beauty of this situation is you have plenty of other options.
What is a good ad free text messaging app? I used to run MIUI and LOVE their texting ap. But MIUI isn't working right for me now so switched to CM11. And while I like it the lack of a good text messenger sucks.
I send lots of MMS messages because of work, and I have 3 different gmail accounts logged in on my phone, and while hangouts is boarderline ok, the fact that I get sign in issues because of the two accounts I don't use hangouts with and then the fact that I have to select what account to send the mms over, it's just a pain, and not nearly as smooth as I think it should be, or that it was.
I have tried and tried to find the APK for the MIUI texting ap so I could just install that, but I just can't find it.
Please help me find a suitable replacement. I don't mind paying the few bucks for it, but it has to be worth it without being all bloat ware, I don't care if it has 9999 different emoticons. I just want to be able to text and send good resolution MMS.
Thanks,
PS, being able to schedule text messages would be awesome too.

Also has backing up to dropbox/google drive and what not

I had MMS issues like 3 weeks ago but they have since been resolved and improved quite a bit.
My favourite SMS app so far, offers quick reply popup settings as well plus themes are amazing.
Also allows sliding between conversations and a nice pull out list of convos.
Seriously once you try it i find it hard to believe you'll end up wanting to use anything else.

If you're a Uber-texter,
Sliding Messsaging Pro:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.klinker.android.messaging_donate
Evolve is okay, But it's essentially a pared down version of Sliding Messagin Pro (even made by the same people)--except for the funky UI. It looks nice, but it's wonky to use:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.klinker.android.evolve_sms
Handcent is another beloved SMS app…It's been around for eons and is a favorite around here. It's got every feature a bacon-loving man could ever want…but it's butt ugly:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.handcent.nextsms
Go SMS Pro -- Essentially on par with handcent. But it has a downside. Even though it's one of the most customizable of the bunch….it takes hours to configure, and even then, just like GO Keyboard, it loves to place big buttons in places you don't want them, and it hides obscure details and features deep within the config and settings….which means that you'll find random numbers and other metadata in your inbox, not really understand what they mean, and then you'll spend the next 20-30 mins trying to figure out how to get rid of them. While this is probably the most-heavily-themed of the bunch, the themes are almost universally garbage. They're unpolished-- the whole lot of them. It's nearly impossible to find a theme that actually skins/themes absolutely everything. Dev's choice of colors, graphics, design is questionable at best. Lastly, the GO Dev team's relentless drive towards integration means that any day now, your app will update and you'll suddenly find out that your SMS app is now your dialer, your lock screen, your camera app, and your flashlight app. Oh…and they'll want you to pay for the "prime" version of every one of those apps-- with GETJAR Gold.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jb.gosms
Other options:
Hangouts now integrates SMS into your Hangouts inbox.
ATT Messaging App-- will integrate voicemail, SMS, MMS, and a few other things like account notifications into a single box for you…which is really, really nice…but the app is also really, really ugly.
There are also apps like SMS Popup which will give you the chance to respond to an incoming message via a notification action or popup.
Lastly, you can just find a AOSP SMS app, configure it, and then theme it with XPosed's XTheme.
Good luck.
