[Q] Odin vs ClockworkMod ROM Manager? - Galaxy S I9000 General

As my phone is one that doesn't boot into recovery mode by holding Volume Up + Home + Power, I've been wondering the usefulness of this mode as opposed to adb reboot recovery and using ClockworkMod ROM Manager which still works.
What do I gain or loose by not being able to use Volume Up + Home + Power and, by extension, Odin?
Is Odin going to become the less preferred method of installing ROMs/firmwares now that ClockworkMod works for the Galaxy S?

Quick Question

I tried booting into CWM recovery from phone being turned off by holding the home button + power but that doesn't work. IS this possible or can you only access CWM recovery from inside the rom?
Edit: nvm, just saw that it's under fastboot by holding volume down + power

cant go into bootloader mode - i think its dead

hi guys
i know youll never disappoint me
i have zte blade
as it seems i was in gen1. i rooted the device installed all things and then i tried to flash the Cyanoggen 7.1.0 stable mode.. via CMW recovery by holding vol down (-) and power buttons. i enterd CWM rec.
the rom installed successfuly and then i wipe all data cache and dalvik.
i tried to loading up but nothing from this point there is no option to enter recovery again by vol down + power as before. no option to enter bootloader by holding vol up (+) power buttons. ( i tried even with home button too - doesnt work)
i cant find the combination for fastboot mode (bootloader) and the machine doesnt recognize the device anymore (drivers were installed)
so i cant use command line commands because no adb or fastboot is recognized by computer.
How can I stop the re-loop of the green screen with android pic when device is up... all modes like : vol up + power
and vol down + power
and vol up + home + power
and vol down + home + power... nothing works...
i have no any OS right now because i click format when i were into the CWM recovery the device is dead.. it is looping and looping... etc...
who can help me please??? how can I fix my phone and install the CM7 stable rom??? pleaseeeeeee
You're in the wrong forum here, it should be in 'blade general'
Take the battery out to stop it boot looping. When you put the battery back in you should be able to get back into clockworkmod by holding vol- & power on. Then you can restore your working backup or install a gen1 compatible rom (like ginger stir fry).
Then you can follow the Gen1 to Gen2 TPT upgrade guide here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1258855 & install CyanogenMod 7.
You could also copy the gen1 to gen2 tpt upgrade files using mount usb storage in clockworkmod, or by taking the sdcard out of your phone & using a microsd card reader.

[Q] stuck in cyanogenmod simple recovery, windows does not recognise device

Hi all,
I have a GT i9505 with cyanogenmod 11 installed.
I rebooted into recovery mode using the power menu option instead of the volume up + power + home option, which brought me into a cyanogenmod simple recovery mode. Soon I found my phone is stuck in this mode, pressing reboot phone only sends me back to this simple recovery mode.
I plugged my phone into my computer (that has kies installed), but windows 7 would only provide me with a "dee dee" noise and not able to detect my device.
I am quite frustrated now and don't know what to do. Do you guys have any suggestions?
Thanks in advance.
Nelson
Have you tried entering Odin Mode (Power + Volume Down) and reflashing a custom recovery again?
If not, download Odin 3.07 (you will find it on Google), put your phone into Odin Mode (as I told you earlier), and download a recovery in .tar or .tar.md5 format. Put the file into PDA (or AP if you use a newer version of Odin on your PC) and press Start. Check ONLY Auto-Reboot and Reset Time and not Repartition or anything!. Then, it will flash again the custom recovery and you should be able to enter it using Power + Volume Up.
It may be a bootloader problem. Since it won't boot in anything else but recovery. I had a similar problem with an Galaxy S Advance and flashing a bootloader did the trick.
OMG Thanks Villa_Man!!! You guys rock!
one more thing if you guys don't mind.
When I pressed power + home + volume up, it will still take me to cyanogenmod simple recovery instead of cwm which I have installed.
I am currently booting into cwm via the cwm app. Is there a way that I can change my default recovery to cwm so I can boot into it via the hardware button method?
Cheers guys

Trying to fix a fake S5 = Hell

So, long story short, i have a Galaxy S5 Fake in hands (not mine). But i'm trying to fix it.
I realized soon enough it would be harder than i expected.
This beast comes with trojans all over the rom. So my first thought was , let's wipe it.
After the wipe, everything is installed back, all the junk and trojans.
So i decided to flash using download mode.
Here's how the button combos are set :
Recovery Combo (Power + Home + Volume UP) would send me to a english recovery.
Donwload mode combo (Power + home + volume down) would put me in a chinese recovery instead of download mode.
So... yeah.. no download mode! After a while trying to flash a custom recovery using flashify app i noticed that cwm was successfully installed! But once again... Trying the recovery combo now , would just boot normally and the download mode combo is still in the chinese recovery.
Also trying flashing via fastboot without sucess.
I'm running out of ideas! Any help?

Is there any way i can check if cwm was really installed and is it possible to change the boot script to load it instead of the chinese recovery?
Recover the whole stock status with Odin, then you can flash custom things.

how can i flash with odin without download mode?
No point asking about it here, just because they stuck the name S5 on it, doesn't make it an S5, the hardware will be different, ROMs won't work, likely ODIN won't either as ODIN is for Samsung, and it's not a Samsung phone
Find out what hardware is in it, and go from there

Sorry, didn't sleep much.
My fault.
Not even recognized it's not a Samsung.

TWRP without Home Button? G935FD

I want to flash TWRP on my S7 Edge with a broken home button. I can't boot immediately to recovery from download because my key combos are as follows
Download Mode - Vol Down + Home Button + Power Button
Recovery Mode - Vol Up + Home Button + Power Button
If anyone wants to know, I can go into download from system via ADB. Is there anyway for my PC to detect my phone to boot to recovery via ADB while in download?
