It's around 4.5 or 5 megs on the Vibrant I see. Not handy for videos or several photos attachment.
Is this true across other Android phone gmail apps? Any workaround?
I have been able to do much larger attachments through the browser on the mobile gmail site. But ah how nice it would be from the native app when clicking through from the camera or camcorder...
How do you check it?
Pretty sure the cap to send/receive is 25 MB's.
Of course, there is likely an easier way to share such a large file.
You can check by shooting a video and sharing via gmail. You'll get a "too large to attach" error when gmail opens.
Yes, it's easy to send more than 5mb. A single 20 sec 640x vid set to normal quality exceeds the limit.
I don't like how it compresses the pictures when you try to send it. When I upload to facebook it looks like crap. So I tried to upload to facebook via gmail and it still compresses the picture. Wish there was a way around it.
^ have you tried image shrink lite?

Hi all, just wondering if there is a fix for this?
I sync all my facebook contacts with my google ones, but whenever I get a call it always shows a horrible low res picture instead of the high-res one that SHOULD be there.
Is there any app (non-rooted phone here) or fix that can remedy this?
..that´s a good question, would like to know that too...
This happens to me as well
Yeah..Wat up wit dat?
Unfortunately, I think this has to do with how much google compresses the pictures. It happens on my iPhone and on the TP2 I recently sold. Really wish google would fix this.
I was told that no matter what picture you take, it wil resize it to a specifc resolution, then uploaded and synced with your google contacts online. Thats why when you do a restore, your contacts + pictures will automatically be resized per "google" standards...
Not sure if this is specific to FRF83 but when I got to my gallery, select photos, and click share, facebook is not an option. What shows up for me is picasa, messaging, bump, bluetooth, email, gmail, k-9 mail. Maybe I have too many?? Any ideas on how to remedy this? Thanks
EDIT: Ok it looks the option (in addition to twitter and goggles) appears when I'm viewing a picture. So is there no way to upload multiple pictures at a time to Facebook?
I've also tried going thru the Facebook app but it seems to only work with one picture at a time too..

Annoyingly not, although that's not a 2.2 thing, it's always been the case.
I have done some searching but was not able to find any answers. I have been using Android pretty much exclusively these days. I noticed that when I sync my contacts with my Facebook account it adds pictures to the contacts, just like windows mobile. The difference though is that on Windows mobile the pictures are nice and clear. On Android the pictures look very low res and very blurry. It seems like it is using the same picture on the little thumbnail on the as it is on the picture during a phone call.
Does anybody have any thoughts on how to fix this?
Thanks!
bump
same issue here
yep..
I am disapointed with contact pics 2
very low res..
Same here for disappointment with contact pics resolution, I'm not Facebook sync'ing but selected the contact photo's using the gallery app. I'm sure they were good quality when I first set them, but on reboot they are much lower quality.
I was thinking this was an issue with the way we're running Android, via the SD? Can't think why, but I don't believe this could be a generic Android issue (surely).
I got this exact same question this morning.
Use friend stream that's Included on htc sense.
I believe the pictures are actually better.
Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA App
Still no answer? I believe the issue still exists. My profile pics are low res. On WM6.5 and WindowsPhone the pics are high-res and very nice.
Any thoughts?
There is an app called sync my pics it is on the market download it and sync your contact pictures on wifi..
This has probatly to do with the Exchange protocol, and how Google uises it. This is for WP7, but should also work for Android... At least; the second part;
1. Log into your Google account
2. Settings --> General (1st tab)
3. Under "Contacts' pictures" select "Only show pictures that I've chosen for my contacts"
4. Save, exit
Click to collapse

With NAND Desire HD build i got same problems...
but now i use mdj cyanogenmod 2.4 and pro launcher but i dont see facebook pictures from my contacts in the "person" widget from pro launcher?? What to do?
Bump. This issue is intolerable. I would like to link my phone contacts to FB and Gmail, but still be able to use my high-resolution photos of them. They get overwritten every time by either FB or Google.
There has to be a fix somewhere, I'll keep looking.
???
if anyone finds a fix...please post !

I use the Full Screen Called ID App. works wonders, if u dont want full screen images to show when people call, just disable its appearance in the option settings. you can set it to use that contacts facebook display pic as their contact picture, although for people that ring often, I set a preffered picture of choice
If you use a Mac and came from IOS, then you might know of the new feature called PhotoStream.
Take a pic on your iPhone/iPad and if your on WiFi it will upload the Picture to all of your IOS devices and Mac computers.
Well I found this super cool way to get your GS3 or any Android phone to get this feature to work, in fact it will auto upload your Pictures and Videos to iPhoto when your GS3 is on WiFi or 3G/4G.
No credit to me, I found it online, but tested it out and its great.
You will need to have a DropBox account setup on your Mac as well as on your GS3, turn on the Auto Upload feature in the app on the GS3 and watch how fast it puts all your pictures in iPhoto without having to Sync your GS3 to anything.

Cool.
Semi related in case folks are looking for a more Googleish option. Google+ has an "Instant Upload" feature (you can limit it to wifi or upload over cellular too) that uploads your photos and videos to picasa web albums / Google+ (set to private by default). Here is some info... well I can't link because I'm new... Just google "google + instant upload" and you should find instructions easily.
I find that even if you don't use Google+ auto uploading is at least is a handy supplemental backup feature.
With Telus and some other carriers you automatically get 49gb free for 2 years when you log in to Dropbox from your S3.
Additionally, if you have Google AdWords credit laying around, you can get up to 16gb free by creating an adwords campaign, worked well for me:
http://lifehacker.com/5851116/use-google-adwords-to-quickly-max-out-your-dropbox-referrals
This will basically ensure that I have enough storage for a very long time for all my photos and videos, even after the 2 years is up.
Guys I was wondering if with the Nexus 4 it is possible to have my personal pictures on the cloud (through Picasa or something like this). I have 7 Gigs that i occasionally browse on my mobile so, to save some space, it would be nice to have them on the cloud.
Most important part is to browse them with the default gallery application. I know it would be possible to use the cloud provider's app but I prefer using default gallery.
Hope there is a way. Ty all for you support.

I have read about that option. But using that all my pictures will be watchable on my google+ profile right?
BTW it should put picture taken with my N4 in google+ account.
I'm looking on a way to have available(on the cloud) the pictures that i have on my PC without using my N4 gigs.
