Just tried to beam a document to my HP laserjet 2100 printer using infa red but to no avail
any clues ?
I dont think you can just beam a file to a printer, you need a program that will send it to the printer in a printable format.
ok cruisin thanks
worth a go

AjFoster I have used the pre installed clearview application on my XDA II with powerpoint files and it works well. I have the additional BackPack accessory so that I can do PowerPoint presentations using my XDA II connected to a LCD projector. That works great too.
Before I bought my XDA II I wasn iPAQ user and bought pocket slides for that platform. I can still use PocketSlides on the XDA II if I want full Powerpoint functions (create and edit as well as view) but in my case the clerview application is pretty much all I need at the moment.
What version PowerPoint files are you trying to open?
Is clearview compatible with all versions of powerpoint?
Ed
Thanks ed for the prompt reply. I am using powerpoint 2000 which according to the guidelines is compatible with clearvue. When i drag and drop the files from desktop to xda II they are converted fine but for somereason my clearvue just does not pick them up.
Any other suggestions?
Try to make a simple slideset with no animations, no bigger embedded pictures or some other fancy stuff
This will just test the compatibility...
You will have to go the the ActiveSync and uncheck the convert file area. For Powerpoint files you do not convert the file. I had the same problem until i readd it somewhere now it works like a charm.
Cheers
Thanks shanec i unchecked the conversion box and now clearvue works a treat. Shame that simple bit of advise wasnt available in help
I need to print PDF's to a bluetooth printer...i have tried printboy but it reformats my document and it is essentially unuseable...i tried clearview and the PDF is not visible unless I bring it into active sync first to allow it to create tags on the PDF.
Adobe Reader 2.0 for Pocket PC. I can view the document but the print button it greyed. What gives?
I would be fine with IR printing but it fails every time I fire a document.
Oh I have the Verizon 6700 version of the Wizard.
Thanks in advance to anyone who can help I have been searching on and off for a week and it is driving me insane....
did you try following program?
JETCET PRINT
http://www.westtek.com/pocketpc/jetcet/
Yes i tried that software. I also tried it along with the Clearvue Pro. When I try to view the PDF in Clearvue it is blank. If I bring the same PDF in via Active Sync then it mentions that the PDF is untagged and if I would like it to attempt to tag. Once I run it through this I can see it and print.
The problem with this is that people in the field will be using this and they wont have access to Active Sync. They have to download the PDF and print on the fly.
Did you try using the adobe ppc pdf reader instead of clearvue? I think it is free. Also I think HP has some printer software/drivers. Dont know if it will work but worth a try.
Yes, I have tried Adobe Acrobat also the print button is greyed. I am trying to figure out how to activate it and have been on ADOBE's site in the forums but no one seems to know...also I tried to get the HP drivers but cant find them anymore. They say something on the site about discontinuing the drivers after Oct of 2005 or something.
If anyone has an idea how I can ungrey that print button or get the HP drivers it would be great. I can view my PDF perfect in ADOBE I just cant print.
Thanks again i really apreciate any help and I really need to get this working!
here is a link to download the hp mobile printing 4.0
http://www.pocket4you.com/freeware/index.php?vypis=jedno&id=199
Hope it works for you.
Great! I am downloading now. Thanks a million I will let you know how it works out!
hp mobile printing won't work because you're running WM5.
You may want to try this. It's expensive, but it may work for you. It has a 15 day trial period too.

Ok well I installed it but it doesn't seem to install properly. It gives me an error that it may not work properly because it was designed for a previous version of Windows Mobile. I am of course using Windows Mobile 5.
Any ideas or suggestions?
Any idea how I can get the "Print" button in ADOBE Reader for Pocket PC 2.0 active?
Weatheryoko,
I tried the bachmansoftware solution it is what I called Printboy. It does actually print but the problem is that its sends it somewhere forst where it converts the PDF. When it comes back down and I print it it completely reformats it all out of sequence. It doesn't "Paint" the way I had the report layed out...
I sent them an email this morning to ask them if they could pint me in the right direction as to how it performs this conversion and maybe that will give me insite on how to re-write my report so that the conversion wouldn't affect the content layout so drastically.
Haven't gotten any feedback as of yet from them

On the adobe site it says it works with bluetooth hp printers. Did you try to turn the bluetooth on the wizard on and pair it to the printer? Maybe you can pair the printer and phone using jetcet? Anyways these are some suggestions to try if you already havent. Good luck.
Yeah actually the funny thing is that I am using an HP 450 bluetooth printer...I can the jetcet application comes bundled with Clearvue professional (thats the only way it will print PDF as jetcet by itself doesnt see the PDF's) problem is when I open the PDF in Clearvue it looks blank...
I think it has to do with the fact it is an untagged PDF...
If i take the same PDF and bring it into the handheld using Active Sync it is tagged I can see it and print it...
It is super irritating that Microsoft didn't build native printing functionality into Windows Mobile to begin with...
I am still struggling with this...
Help! I've recently bought an o2 xda mini s and drag/dropped some powerpoint files onto it. This all worked ok for a while and then the device stopped recognizing the files as PowerPoint and they do not appear in the PowerPoint mobile file directory. They do appear as PowerPoint presentations in file explorer either and the icon attahted to the files has changed from the red 'powerpoint square' to just a standard icon (white note with windows sign). When trying to load a presentation a pop up states that it either does not have a trusted certificate or one of its components is missing. I've tried deleting and reloading but the same keeps happening! Any ideas???
HI,
With my device, see below, I wish to print to a printer. A4
I wish to do this via blue tooth connection.
Please advise..
- Do I need software to do this on the device for Wm5 ? If so who provides this ?
- Can you recommend a nice compact ( small ) printer brand or model that will do this for me. One I can take with me on travel and plug into a wall.
Also it would be good if the printer has USB from device to printer as well as a back up.
Please advise thanks
Well after much frustration this is my story. I wish to print from device directly to printer formated MS Office documents rec'd by email attachments.
Firstly...
Printers choice >> ip90 Canon or the HP Deskjet 460wbt
I found this link say HP 460 performs better and longer.
http://www.hp.com/sbso/expert/competitive_460_vs_canon_ip90.pdf
Canon has a high demand on ink, and a lower dpi for text printing. What is more important you need software for device that supports the print and works.
Both www.amazon.com and www.cnet.com say ip90 is a better printer, but this is for notebooks and not PPC.
I purchased the HP Deskjet 460 with BT device. Set up on Com8 port for bluetooth, they dont tell you this.
Secondly, software selections
PrintBoy >> www.bachmannsoftware.com
ClearVue Suite ( Full version ) >> www.westtek.com
Testing printing on rec'd email word doc attachments with plenty of neat formats and graphics.
Thirdly my testing
PrintBoy
Did not print the word doc at all < I found out the reason why, as PrintBoy does not support print tables on a word doc, so PrintBoy is not 100% capable of printing word docs > , but it did print stuff that was very plain like text files. It has documentation to say the HP printer has been tested and confirmed to work. ip90 print not so confident. see here printer matrix for printboy here >> http://www.bachmannsoftware.com/PrinterMatrixWEB.pdf
ClearVue Suite prints native MS office files ( xls, doc, ppt) not WM5 pocket word or doc files. And it prints them very well. Prints them from email and device ok. But this software will not print plain text files. So you need both if you want full print functionality.
I did not consider ActivePrint as I wanted to print directly from device to printer without the need for a desktop pc. I am still looking at PIEprint and others ( ie http://www.fieldsoftware.com/default.htm ).
Hope this helps !
I have a WM5 device (Mitac Mio a701). I just pair it w/ bt printer (an hp 450 deskjet w/ the compact flash BT card) and i can just print, no need for extra software. It's been a while, but you either select print, or send the file.
Regards,
Jason
