You can install over the stock ROM but I would suggest a new radio: 2.12.50 works well for many.**You have to hspl3 before flashing the new radio.
Check out the stickied threads on the first page. They will guide you through most of the questions that you have.

Hi, I HARDspl my HTC HD2 device with the kumar rom, and I been having issues. I was wondering if someone could explain to me step by step how to remove hardspl so i can send back my HTC HD2 to tmobile so i can get a replacement phone. so that they will not see that i tampered with the device. can someone help me please.
taken from "Flashing your First GSM USA 1024LEO ONLY!! (For Noobs)" tut:
NOTE (PLEASE READ): If you flash a Stock Rom via microSD Card then it will overwrite your HardSPL with a stock SPL included in the nbh file. If you flash a v2.01 or later Rom (with SPL2.*) you will NOT be able to reinstall HardSPL onto your device and could end up bricking it. This does not apply to custom roms as they do not include an SPL. BE CAREFUL!!
Please read the "Flashing your First GSM USA 1024LEO ONLY!! (For Noobs)" tut. its on the main page stickied. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=653614
run hspl3, choose 2.08.0000, then flash stock rom over usb.

Should be able to get one off of T-Mobile's website somewhere.
or how about the stock roms thread in this very forum? its a sticky right here in rom development thread, (does no one read the stickies anymore??? )
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=655653
stay away for the .01 - .07 builds, they can be problematic.
Thanks Sam

I searched and found the thread just after posting my request ...Much thanks for taking the time out to point it out.
Hello. I now have an HD2 (completely stock from T Mobile) and this is my first WinMo phone. I checked out some of the Android roms, and appear to be one of the many with distorted audio problems.
After reading through threads, I am not sure how to install a HSPL, or how to flash it.
Can someone please guide me through this (I know I'm such a noob) and if anyone knows where I can find a HSPL and then where I can find the 3 kit, I'd appreciate it.
Also, if I am missing any other essential pieces to successfully install Android on my HD2, please let me know.
If it's too long to thread, please send me a private message.
Thanks!
Gabe
have you tried reading the stickies???
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=6004271&postcount=1
first off fully charge your hd2
then read this thread and download HSPL3
Install HSPL3..
Go into BootLoader Mode Verify the screen shows the HSPL you installed
ok...now its time to flash Radio (be carefull..flashing wrong radio may brick your device) Make sure to only download and flash xxxx.50.xxx radios!!!
Now flash custom ROM which you like..my preffered ELEGANCIA
now dowload android rls for hd2 then follow instructions on posts.
WWW.theunlockr.com has step by step instructions how to do it. Either that or go to YouTube and people have posted instructions
Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA App
Wow elegancia did the trick. now porting phiremod 1.5 and no more robot voice. thanks all and special thanks to Jack!!!!

If you have a Radio/HSPL already, you don't need to do it again, unless you want to update them.
Check the sticky link in my sig. In there is a link titled "Flashing Your First HD2 NAND Android Rom [For Newbs]"
Read this for all the info you could ever need.
Hope this helps.

Yes, as long as they are compatible. All the info is in the Guide thread. HSPL and Radio have to be over a certain minimum.
This is from that thread:
Code:
1. YOU NEED A RADIO WHICH SUPPORTS 576 RAM
(2.08.50 or later should be fine but the Radio NEEDS to be 2.**.50.**).
I recommed the 2.15.50.14 Radio *HERE*
2. YOU NEED HARDSPL 2.08 INSTALLED ON YOUR DEVICE
TO FLASH MAGLDR
Please read the guide through before going ahead, and refer to it, and the FAQ, if you have any problems. 99% of issues have already been solved and the fixes are in there.
Good luck, and enjoy.

Guys,
This is my first post. I see already a thread about this ROM: NexusHD2-ICS-4.0.4-CM9-HWA V2.3 (Kernel: tytung_HWA_r3), but there are 501 pages in this thread. I have gone through some pages of these and have downloaded the ROM and clk_1.4.0.1_XXX.rar files based on different partitions, HD2 TookKit 4.2.0.1, Google Android drivers. Is there anything i need to download? I have been running the Windows Mobile 6.5 on my T-Mobile HD2 and would like to upgrade it to the above mentioned ROM. I would like to know if there are any step by step instructions in a PDF format that would explain me what needs to be done first , next , so-on. Any problems/issues that i need to be aware of. My software versions are Manila-25.20181424.0, ROM:3.14.531.1(04666) WWE, Radio Version-2.15.50.14. Any help would be appreciated.
Welcome to the land of penguin!
If this is your first Android ROM, here is some lecture for you:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=893948
You may want to install HD2Toolkit, as it makes mentioned operations ~ten times quicker and simpler.
1. Please don't create multiple threads.
2. Please search before posting.
Having said that, this website by kylew1212 is brilliant if you want to use cLK, it tells you everything in detail. If you want MAGLDR on the other hand, this guide is the best I could find. The guide posted above is somewhat correct but it doesn't mention CWM and is therefore pretty much useless for all modern ROMs.
hi members
i m new here..
i want to upgrade my HTC HD2 Tmobile rom from win 6.5 to NexusHD2-JellyBean-4.1.2-CM10 V1.3a.
pls help me.. i want step by step process for flashing the rom. and also tell me which softwares are needed for this process..
thanks in advance....
Hello new here,
There are many guides about how to flash ROMs and stuff. Use the search tool to find those guides. You can also check the stickies, they will help you. I don't think anyone will lay out the process step by step as there are various methods and numerous ways to install ROMs. I suggest you also read the "What is HSPL, cLK MAGLDR" thread (google it) as it will help you understand the HD2 and Android on it.
Good luck.
...also be careful when flashing Radio with the "Tmous" as some can brick the phone

Or alternatively since you have a TMOUS just completely skip the radio stage and never worry about it.
