Doublelauncher? - HD2 General

Anyone tried Doublelauncher or other Button remapper (Vito Button Mapper, etc.) with the HD2?
I have Doublelauncher (paid version), and found it to come in handy on other WM devices. You can remap different functions for different buttons--for single press, double press, press and hold, and even triple press (or double press and hold).
The HD2 doesn't have many buttons. I certainly wouldn't want to mess with the Send and End keys, as those already have different functions for press and press and hold, wouldn't want to mess with trying more.
I also certainly wouldn't want to change the single press function of the home, Windows, or back key, as those are important functions to have available at a keypress wherever you are. However, it might not be bad, if possible, to be able to map different functions for those three keys, if possible, to press and hold, double press, triple press, etc. (Or--are there already press and hold functions for any of those three keys?)
Anyone tried any button remapping programs on the HD2? Did it work?
One key I sure wish the HD2 had--an OK key! (I guess if something like Doublelauncher worked, it could be programmed as a double press on one of the other keys.)

Button mapping/pda case problem

I've tried several pouches/cases, and keep having the same problem when a call comes in and I go to pull the phone out of the case, the Messaging or PIE button get pressed inadvertantly.
So the best fix I can come up with, is to remap the buttons to activate those apps on a Press & hold, rather than just press. Problem, is that the Hermes does not allow me to map Press & hold for any of the buttons except the PTT (via PTTFix - thanks Sleuth255).
My understanding is that the Button press versus press&hold functionality is implemented in the OS, so there's got to be a way to get to it?
That's incorrect AFAIK. The record button has press and hold, but it's emulated in code.
I don't think Press and Hold is implemented in the OS. I imagine Sleuth's solution is also externally emulated and parsed back into the OS.

Thanks.
I'm playing with an eval of AEButton, and it seems to do everything I was looking for (and then some).

Reassign (Hard)keys Home and Back

Hey guys,
is there a way to reassign the hardkeys home and back?
I also have an item "Buttons" in the settings but there is only one key defined: "Key 1 (Hold), Voicedial settings".
However, I can't find this button, where is it?
It's the first button i.e phone pickup, hold it and it will give you the voice dial
Key 1 is the dial key (far left).
You can reassign the back key with AE Button Plus. I'm not sure that you can remap home.
use AE Button Plus to reassign the keys, words great on my touch hd. I read somewhere that Home button is not supported due to different driver implemented by HTC
Thanks for your replies.
I'm aware of AE Button Plus but the interesting thing is the reassignment of the home key.
I wanna keep the back key as it is and assign an ok/close task to the home key because the end call button actually does the same thing as the home button namely go back to the today screen when you have a running application in foreground.
In AEB+ I have the following:
Button 1 (hold)
Windows Key
Enter/Action
Volume Up
Volume Down
Green Phone Button
Red Phone Button
Left Softkey
Right Softkey
Up Arrow
Down Arrow
Left Arrow
Right Arrow
I can access the volume up and down keys but which key is the back key?
I assume the green and red phone button is pickup and hangup key respectively?
Is there a way to access the power key at the top?

The back key is "Enter/Action".
It seems that the home key as well as the power key cannot be reassigned.
Back and home key can be reassigned on a window by window basis in the registry. Not particularly useful, but better than nothing.

What exactly needs to be done in the registry to reassign the home key?
Even if I have to enter a new registry key for any program window I might use it is worth the effort (at least for me).

I just want to update:
the back key is not the "Enter/Action" key. i have tried to edit this button and it didn't remap to the Back key.
If you go to File -> Add Button, and tap the Back key, it will recognize the key as button #405C. I have remapped it to "Close Active Application" and it worked.
i don't think u can reassign the Home key as AE Button Plus cannot access the Home key.
I was also unable to change the Home key in AEBplus.
Concerning the back key assignment with AEBplus, I was trying to assign something to the long press but unable to get it working. No problem for single press and double press.
Anyone has better luck?

So how do we go about doing that vijay555?
Power Key
Here's the modified power key from Diamond but it can be used on HD.
When Power key on long-pressed, it will display the menu for choice. Tested.
Regards,
KCJ
just tested on Aeplus 2.6.6.1, the Back key = the Ok key, it can be remapped.
I have it set to:
Single press="Ok/Close"
Double press = S2U2
Long press=close active app
EDIT: Long press doesn't work... might try another method.
don't know if this works, but it is worth a try:
if you copy a shortcut to \Windows and name it "Short_Power.lnk" you can intercept the short power key press. at least that worked for me on my diamond.
you could try s.th. like "Short_Home.lnk" but that would intercept the "other home key" (which manages the cursor's position like end, up down, left, right, etc).
the magic would be to find the correct name of the key.
longpress back key (405C)
I know this is an old thread, but I haven't found yet a solution.
I'd like to be able to add longpress back key (405C) to the key menu on the windows config.
I've found the registry key that HTC uses to provide longpress send key, but I copied with no luck.
Anyone knows how to do it? vijay555 has said it's possible but never indicated how...

Assigning volume buttons as scrolling up/down

Is there possible to assign volume control buttons as up/down scrolling?
There can be options
- better is if on home screen they works as volume control, for applications as scrolling
- always scrolling
- scrolling only in certain applications
?
Also, is there possible device tilt for scrolling?
maybe you check "AE Button Plus". a lot of discusiion around here
Is is possible?
Yes it is possible - I use it.
I have set it up do do exactly as you as you ask where a "short press" of the up/down volume buttons will scroll up and down and a "long press" will change the volume as normal.
You can download it here http://ae.inc.ru/aebplus.php
Thank you!
AE Button Plus is good application and it works, but it's not free.
Now I try HButton 2.3

Question guys,
How do I map the call button to long press (like the smallest long press ever) to get the Start menu?
Thanks

The unregistered function is almost fully functioning.
I recommend it.
I bought the app as I use it all the time and thought it fair to the developer even though I don't actually use the additional functions in the reg version.

You should be able to map long press send, long press end and long press power. It should work like the Fuze. Check out this articles but I bet it's identical:
http://www.fuzemobility.com/?p=1751
Here's one on making it the start menu: http://www.fuzemobility.com/?p=1249
The mapped long press buttons take 3 seconds or so...not sure it's great for that unless you try DredSensor but then you'd lose a physical button (short press) to something else...
Is the long press timeout option in the settings the time one has to "long press" in order to trigger what he sets? Coz you can set it from 200ms to 900ms. I am guessing this is the time required to trigger a long-press response/activation.
I would suggest you send an email to the AEB developer. I did once and he responded in the same day.
He could probably guide you much (v. much) better than I on all the options in AEB+ (including "long-key press mode")
thanks Dave.
For a temporary fix,(or perhaps a preferred alternative?) I have set up volume to scroll up and long press (which is barely a second) to start menu (shows quick menu not original start menu) and volume down to scroll down and long press of it to ok/action. This way I can pull down the start menu with a little press, scroll up/down and then select an item or enter the submenu using the down button.

Button Remapping on the HD2

I have the TMOUSA HD2 (latest stock ROM), but I assume this question would apply for all HD2s.
I have an app called Doublelauncher, that I bought years ago, that can remap hardware keys to different functions depending on single press, double press, triple press, press and hold, double press and hold.
The HD2 doesn't have many hardware buttons. The WinMo button app only shows one that can be configured--press and hold the green key. (Default of that to Voice Command. I would like to keep it with that function.)
In fact, I would like to keep all the default functions of the few keys on the device, just add more possibilities via long press, double and triple press, etc.
Doublelauncher doesn't work at all on the HD2. It installs, the app starts, but shows absolutely no keys that can be mapped.
I've read here on XDA about AE Button Plus, that it can remap anything, including the double and triple functions, long plus, etc. I downloaded the newest version, and installed it in main memory.
Extremely difficult to figure out how to use it, with no help file, no directions at all from the developer, not on his web site either. (Does anyone know of a good online guide or tutorial for this app?) However, I thought I finally figured it out (to some extent), and mapped different functions to the back key, for double press, triple press, and press and hold. I rebooted the machine after saving, tried these different presses, and none worked at all. The back key still only did back, no matter how many presses, no matter if I held it.
Other problems I find with AEB. I had installed Duttys Task Manager last night, and did the registry tweak necessary to have its icon on the right end of the task bar. Nice task manager. But AEB seems to keep changing (on reboot) that reg value back to 0, so the task bar icon does not appear.
Furthermore, AEB slows down my system terribly. (That is on the HD2, the fastest WinMo device there is!) Boot time is now incredibly slow, it is ridiculous!
Therefore, I have a couple of questions:
1. Suggestions to make AEB really work, and not cause the problems described above?
2. Has anyone had success with other button remappers on the HD2? Vito Button Mapper? Others?
Thanks in advance for your help.

Remapping scroll functionality

I have a MAPL100 and downscrolling on the trackball has stopped working. It works sometimes, but usually it takes me 4 or 5 flicks to get it to scroll once.
That said, is there a way to remap one of the keys in the bottom right (Camera button, mail button, and inner circle key) to perform as a downscroll? Like a virtual directional pad.
Or remap a volume key?
More thoughts: the inner circle key can be customized via settings to launch a program. Is there a program that does nothing except send a scroll down signal?
Likely not. How hard is it to make one? I've hardly programmed for WM but I know .NET well so if you have any pointers towards such a program I would much appreciate them.
Thanks
Bumping this. I can't scroll down OR left!
Hi, why don't you try to flash a 3VOLUTION SERIES ROM, they have a button configuration functionally which gives you the option to configurate for long press and short press several buttons, otherwise you could try by installing SmartToolKit or AEB Plus button configurator, however in my experience these apps don't work well with stock roms as they can't seem to register the key remapping; unless of course the issue was with the sd certificates, now I couldn't tell as I'm already on the latest 3VOLUTION SERIES ROM.
