DELL Streak Price drop!!!

I Just decided to take the plunge an order my streak.. quite surprised to see its coming out at £416 inc del, instead of £449.99 it was a few days ago.
The "travel package" & "multimedia package" have also been reduced down to £446 so I've basically got the AV dock for free!
Lets just hope this is followed up by a Android update!

i wonder if this is because of the problems people are having

looks like it went to £416 for a short while last night/this morning, google's cache shows it at £416 last night.

I was pleasantly surprised last night as I was looking at the red one earlier yesterday morning, but when I got home in the evening, it had dropped in price. So the phone was ordered (as I'll be returning my current one to a noob on ebay), got to work this morning and I told a friend about the price drop....next minute, he's back saying "what you on about" as the price was the same as it was yesterday morning...I had to double check my invoice to make sure I did pay £416

Bonus!

Looks like I ordered it at the right moment then, I ended up getting the dock as it still worked out 2 quid less that what I was about to spend on the steak itself!
Was this a pricing error on Dell part? Or some kind of planned cut maybe?

I have no idea, but I'm livid that I had to pay full price for the dock, even though it was on offer but only with the carbon one...even though the red one is the same price as the carbon one on their own. Though I should be getting about £33 back via quidco

It’s still advertised as 416 all over the web, but you can't buy it at that price. You really can't trust dell on anything.

You can buy it. Just customize it with a 32GB card. It'll cost you extra £80 though.

i see now that when you order one you get the chance to upgrade to 2 years of warranty for an extra £5 they did not have that when i ordered mine 2 weeks ago.
So i have just applied for a warranty upgrade so will see what they have to say when they contact me

souljaboy, I would not go anywhere near that item, there are soooo many knock-off flash drives (USBs, Cards etc) on ebay for silly money, your PC will read that it's XX GB but as soon as you start to fill it up, it will all get corrupted and when you try and format it, it will either fail to format or reviel it's true size. My first Streak was off ebay and the fella who sold it to me included a 32GB card, but when I saw the card, I had a feeling it was fake as it was non branded and that I had questioned him before on where he had brought the card from, turns out it was a fake and that he brought it off ebay for £40 and didn't actually test it before selling it. I always go for branded flash units and when the price is too good to be true, it usually is!

I just ordered one. I had the option to have it pre-activated but I chose not to do that. I'm trying to get my husband on the Android bandwagon and this was a cheap way to do it. (He's currently in our family plan with a BB but wants to jump ship to ATT and Iphone. ugh, I know right?) If he hates it, I have a backup Hero and I did not have to extend my contract.

ordering mine tomorrow, went from a htc vogue with android hacked on to it, to a blackberry curve and now to an htc hero till my upgrade kicks in, never again shall i upgrade to a blackberry....piece of crap

looks like they must have sold out of the refurb heroes... :/

sadly wasn't able to order my phone that night due to mail holiday keeping me from getting my debit card on time but called sprint and was told they would have them back in stock on thursday

i emailed their customer support and im waiting for respond, ill keep you guys updated

I looked yesterday and today and could not find any Refurb'ed Heros, there were some others. Wish I had seen this earlier, would have been nice to get one for my daughter.

yeah i checked into it again, won't have any for a while :/ i suggest you look into ebay if you want to try, alot of reliable sellers.

Mine came in a Sprint OEM "Certified Pre-owned" box, packaged as if it were new. The only thing missing was an SD card (heck, it would be just 2Gb which is worthless anyhow) and a printed full manual. The phone looks brand new, except for one minor flaw--a tiny dent on the speaker grille. Otherwise, you wouldn't know this was refurbished.
The battery is in a small plastic bag with a sticker closure. It was not charged, so the phone required the full charging time to get going.

i found some from ebay that were bought up from sprint by bestbuy.

I just looked on eBay for a private party selling a Hero. I hate buying from the jerks too lazy to post real pictures of the product. I'm not buying a new phone, so why would I ever buy anything without being able see exactly what I'm really getting?
Anyhoots I won an auction for one the guy says is 4 months old for $133. Just watched for auction ending in a few minutes that fit what I wanted, placed my bid, 10 minutes later I had won.
Not refurbished, and more than $79, but I'm sure my daughter will love it.

Nice job, sadly my paypal account is locked because i forgot about it and never put in my information, i went looking for people selling and accepting non paypal purchases, i ends tomorrow so hopefully i win, it's refurbished.

Car Dock

The clip that keeps the phone attached to the google car dock broke on my dock.
are there alternatove car docks that work with the N1?

If its inside of 1 year, they will replace it. They'll tell you they won't, but they will. Got mine replaced. Thankfully, they sent me two on accident. Which is good because my warranty expired and the 2nd one broke...

Is there somewhere I can still buy the Car Dock ? or any of the accessories for that matter... battery is the only other one I can think of right now. Preferably original equipment.
Edit: Answered my own question. In case anyone else is interested... HTC Nexus One Accessory store. Unfortunately, no battery tho .

A quick google search indicates that the HTC Desire battery is directly interchangeable with the N1 battery.
Unrelated: In case anyone has an official but broken broken car dock I am interested in the cadaver for repurposing (electronics should work).

I made one of these car docks, and HTC told me to try ebay for a battery (although the other poster is right, the Desire battery works too). I found them a couple of weeks ago for about $1 +$5 shipping on ebay, but shipping is taking forever so I can't say for sure if they're even worth the few bucks I spent yet.

Mine broke at the top, just right of the center clip where the plastic is thinnest. I called HTC who first said they did not warranty accessories, then said they would cross ship me a new one but would be charging me for shipping. In the end they shipped me out a new one in 2 days and charged me nothing.
HTC FTW!

I fixed mine with heat shrink holding up good for now but if I can get a new one that would be sweet.
Getting mine replaced, seems that they want me to ship it first tho, good thing I have two, one for each car.

My Story & First Impressions

Probably hundreds of other threads similar to this one, however I would like to share my experience with the HTC One and also how I actually got my hands on one today!!! (Sunday 24th March)
Let's start with how I actually got my phone, which is the advice I'd like to give. Me and my mother decided to take a trip to Manchester as I hadn't bought her a mothers day present. We got to Manchester, and started having a look about when I found myself in the Phones4U shop in the Arndale Centre. (ground floor as there are multiple stores, near the Apple & Vodafone Store) I just happened to see the One, and I picked it up and immediately fell in love with it! I asked the sales guy if they had any in and he just replied 'Yes'. After speaking to his manager he said I could buy it Pay as You Go for £489! I was shocked as it is £529 from ALL retailers online and also, it isn't even shipping yet! Anyway, I ended up buying the phone and my Mum paid for her own present don't worry, I'll pay her when I trade my iPhone 5 in! :laugh: SEE THE ATTACHMENT
Anyway, as far as first impressions go, my iPhone 5 now feels FAT after using the HTC One. The only issue that I have had with it, is mine is getting incredibly warm. However right now it's on charge, and now is the only time I have noticed the heat so I'm putting it down to the first charge. It's been a while since I was on Android, so I'm glad to be back in the game.
Any advice on screen protects would be greatly appreciated, heard the actual HTC ones are a little expensive for what they are, anyway thanks!

Nice! Good to hear that they aren't as hard to come by as one would think. Maybe it bodes well for online outlets and may in fact have them in stock and were told to hold them for release until 25. At least I am hoping.

Do they even do these for the HTC One? It's not listed.
Also, how can they do a front and back for iPhone? The back of iPhone 5 is textured so not sure how they will stick!

Thanks for the replies. In regards to the Rhino Shield on the iPhone that someone mentioned, it would indeed stick to the back. The only thing that put me off buying my HTC One was the fact that I'd spent £25 at Carphone Warehouse UK getting a Zagg Screen Protector and having it fitted on both sides.

My One is Sim-Free and 4G Ready in the UK. I was shocked because it's £529 online everywhere.

Ordered from tropical_mobile on eBay? Here's what you can expect inside

I placed a pre-order from tropical_mobile on eBay since I decided the H815 model was the best choice overall, for me. They offered two day shipping as well, so it was sort of a no brainer at that point. I paid a few pennies shy of $700, but they have since significantly dropped the price down to $630, so your patience will be rewarded if you decided to wait! As their listing states, it comes with some goodies, and I thought I may as well post a few pics of said goodies in case anyone was wondering.
There is no extra back piece included. Just thought I'd get that out of the way in case anyone was wondering. It only comes with the back that you ordered. In my case, that's the black leather - and I love it!
I'm a bit peeved that I could've saved $70 by waiting a few days, but I'm one impatient as hell sonofabitch, so I'll just deal with it haha.

I ordered from them as well. Mine had a tracking number issued but sat for 3 days saying label created. After emailing them it magically moved (could be coincidence) and is now on plane for delivery tomorrow. Ordered at $646 for non leather back and saw it dropped: no biggie as I signed for PayPal credit to finance over 6 months. If I don't like it, Swappa here it comes!

i did get a pretty generic gray adapter from them. Seems its the same most ebay phone sellers supply.

Why even include all that extra garbage? I will just throw all that extra trash away. They should have included an extra that is actually worth something, like an extra back cover or an extra battery.
I ordered a brown leather G4 from them last night by the way for $629. Already got a Fedex notification that it should be here tomorrow morning. Said something about Singapore. Crazy if it ships from there in a day and a half.

Strange.. ordered on monday morning and havent receive a tracking number from ebay... will create a account on fedex to see what happens.

Mine just showed up at home and I ordered it last Wednesday. I can not wait for work to be over.

You sure? I got no email from eBay or Tropical Mobile telling me that it shipped. I only know they sent it because I have a Fedex account that is set up to notify me when a packaged is sent that is addressed to me.
It is coming direct from Singapore by the way. Confirmed.

Go naked. The screen is curved a little so even if you set it face down, the screen won't be touching and won't get scratched.

I picked up one from them as well, red leather.
I paid $674 on Saturday, they sent me a tracking number on Monday, and the phone arrived this morning in good working order.
So far, I think this is an awesome phone, and although I could have saved a few bucks by not being impatient, it was worth the 674 to me at the time, so it's hard to say I got hosed.
Either way, great seller, hopefully I won't be using them for a long time!

true true. however I have always had issues with my screens getting scratched, it drives me nuts!
