Facebook 1.3.1 is in the Market - Desire Themes and Apps

Hopefully this fixes the wake lock issue that 1.3.0 had.
I have installed it to try anyway. Will report back my findings.

They fixed wakelock in this. Notifications are still a bit funky.

I'm unable to install newest facebook update from market, I'm using defrost rom, and it keeps telling me I have a failed install, any ideas?

happy that we're (android) r getting more attention. App updates is pronto!

1.3.1 still use 100% partial wake on my desire wit official froyo
Sent from my HTC Desire

so still battery drainer?

Maybe not. After a re-installation and a restart now the app seem to works well. Still testing
i can confirm: after a program reinstallation (clearing Facebook app data) and a reboot, now the 1.3.1 does not waste partial wake time

Yeah wake lock still doesn't seem to work properly until you reboot your device, after that, it seems to work fine!

Can someone share the actual APK file please?

Thank you very much.
Time to edit it

I read the comments about the battery problem being sorted so updated again today and restarted the phone.
After only 3 hours, my phone battery was down to 50% so I had to uninstall again.
Anybody else having the same problems?

Yep. Here.
Installed 1.3.1 today in the morning, deleted Appdata, rebooted device, signed in, set autoupdate and notifications to off / never. no contact sync.
battery drains heavily, and as it was with 1.3.0, once started, the app won't close any more and remain active in the background; as if you would "quit" via home-button, and not using the "back" hardware-button, which usually quits applications instead of just bringing them to background...
i'll uninstall it again, and not update from the (stock) facebook 1.2 (desire, froyo ota), as this version fits my needs - for everything else i use facebook for htc sense, which runs just fine and integrates nicely into contacts, calendar and frieds-stream...

update it from 1.2 to 1.3.1, clear data, reboot phone and so far it looks ok

Same to me, but only reinstalling 1.3.1 twice and after a reboot. On first 1.3.1 installation the partial wake usage it's about 100% even after the reboot. i had to remove, reboot, reinstall and reboot again. Now work well...
Maybe somo settings or files are not replaced correctly during the first installation

Uninstalled 1.3.0, rebooted. Installed 1.3.1 and rebooted again. All working fine now, no battery drain

Cannot update Google Music

The Android Market in my Nexus S is showing there is an update for Google Music (manual update).
But, every time I tried to update, it said "not found".
Rebooted ... same result.
Clear Market cache and data ... same result.
Anyone is having this as well?
I am running 2.3.4, stock, un-rooted and bought the device in UK on release day.
Thanks for any help.
Same here...in the UK, rooted and with Stock 2.3.4 and cannot update the music app although it shows as an update in the Market.
Exact same issue.
I lie, as soon as i wrote this post i tried it again and this time it did the update.
Try now it may work for you too.
Locate the Music manual update in Android Market, long press- and select update.
Thanks, this solved the problem

Sweet, worked for me too!
Just noticed how jerky the scrolling and transitions are compared to before. On my Nexus S i9023 unrooted 2.3.4
But the cool fuzzy backgrounds are nice tho
it worked!
but some how it broke music
now if i click on music it says "application not installed"
yet it's there, and the widget still works, but says "current playlist is empty"
reboot your phone, should fix it

I've noticed the same thing. Album arts don't come up instantly but need a few moments to show every time you scroll the page up and down. Also the lateral scrolling is not perfect, like it was not optimised for this device (Nexus S).
The new app starts two processes and two services that continue to run in the background. The RAM usage has gone from over 10MB to more than 50.

Experienced same with Google Books. Not available in Ireland, can't load the App page, yet keep your finger pressed on the App & you can trigger the update anyway!
This update is for USA market, after I fake the carrier, it allowed me to update I am from Singapore by the way, based on the feedback here, I better keep the original and don't update it since there seem to have some performance issues here

may have found a easy fix for laggy/crashing 4.3

Might get crapped on for another 4.3 thread but I think this needs attention/testing
Go to running apps cached processes.
Find download manager
Force stop clear cache delete data
Reboot

I have no more wake lock, lag, crashing, ghost notifications

The only thing that helped me so far was changing the kernel to Yank555-lu v4.0 kernel.
battery life quadrupled and almost no lags.
better than the performance i got from 4.1.2

Thanks for your actual input
Since doin this I've not crashed lagged or wake lagged once
I was also getting 20+ ghost image/document downloads in the notification bar...now thats gone too
Seemed the stock android download manager was causing a major problem for me anyways:good:
That do nothing...tell me here what you want in this forum.

I don't know how but it actually is working, because now instead of up to 8 seconds wakeup lag it's down to no more than 2 seconds lag, but I'll keep the phone running and see if the lag comes back.

[Q] Name this wakelock

Hi.
I'm getting some weird battery drain on my N4. I'm running a pretty raw collection of incomplete things right now, so I know mmmv, but I'm trying to track down which program or service is throwing this partial wakelock. It comes up as "Google Services" in the battery settings and as "*sync*/com.android.browser/com.google/[gibberish]@gmail.com" in BetterBatteryStats.
See the attached pictures. I'm on a more or less stock early kitkat rom from PA, 0-day GApps, and ART.
I bet this drain will go away when some or all of those are updated, but I'm otherwise very happy with my phone as-is so if I could solve this without reverting to JB or Stock that'd be great. If I can't, I might try Dalvik again and see if it helps.

What ya still doing on the AOSP ROM? Get yourself a factory image and then tweak/flash away! its your 'services'.
If you don't want to change when I didn't as well (also used AOSP 4.4 for a while!) I just backed up everything on PC and factory reset and wiped data. It then resolved my wake lock issues, hopefully it works out!

Go to Settings -> Location, choose Battery Saving or Device only. In addition, do you use Google+? If no, disable or uninstall it. Reboot the phone and monitor battery usage to see if still draining fast. If still, try to clear cache and dalvik cache in recovery.

Sorry for the slight necro.
I am having this wake lock frequently myself, doesn't seem to take a huge hit on the battery but does keep phone from deep sleep.
I looked all over the settings in browser app, couldn't find sync, can anybody assist in location.
Bump
Nobody else has any of these wake locks?

[Q] Gallery using lots of CPU and eating RAM

Small background on the issue here, i tried the stock android camera but the video recording was stuck in low resolution and didn't work correctly so i removed it (and the built in gallery), i went back to using the Samsung camera (which i'm not happy with anyway) but when i use the gallery, the thing is laggy as hell, zooming and browsing pictures is jumpy at best, and if i stay in the app, it pretty much freezes the phone up.
So i had a look in the task manager and any time the Gallery is running in the background it constantly uses around 16% of the CPU and the RAM usage goes up and up, at a rate of 50mb+ per minute, keeping the phone hot and draining the battery. The phone will eventually need resetting if left in this state.
Since i wasn't in the mood for troubleshooting, i guessed that the android camera/gallery had messed something up with the samsung one and i just did a full wipe/factory reset, the problem still persists. Do i need to flash the firmware again to fix this? It seems like something is corrupted but i'm not sure why the factory reset hasn't fixed it.
Here's a few screenshots i took over a 4 minute period.
The firmware is I9505XXUEMJ7 4.3

I had just done this before your reply and it did need an update, it's now on the latest:

"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
The problem still remained however i think i've managed to fix it in the last few minutes, I did the following:
Tried Camera JB+ from the Play Store
Disabled the Samsung Gallery app
Didn't like the JB+ camera so removed it
Enabled Samsung Gallery again and now it's not causing problems
I'm not sure if it was the disabling/enabling of the gallery which has fixed it or if it was the install/removal of another camera/gallery, but for now it seems to be fixed, i have been trying everything over the last few days, factory reset, clearing caches and even updating to the newer firmware. Glad it seems to be working (for now at least) but annoying that i don't know why it was happening. Also worried it will happen in the future which could drain the battery in a very short time if i don't notice it quickly.
- Only u have to go Apps - Settings - More - Aplication manager- (last tab) All
- Tap "Gallery" app
- Clean cache
Took a couple of pictures at work this morning and it's doing it again! Not sure what else i can try.
edit: i've just switched g+ picture backup on and it's told me it's updating 139 pictures (there are only about 20 pics on the phone). After checking my account online, i can see it's uploading a bunch of photos that were deleted a long time ago on the phone.

Better battery stats....... Is that a 3rd party app?
Could be that that battery app is miss reading something and giving you false information based on your other screen shots.
@shwnr11
That could be it. Better Battery Stats is a well known XDA application made by a member here named chamonix.
It is free for us XDA members but it is also a Paid application on the PlayStore.
I'll read up on his thread to see if he can point me into the right direction.
I wanted to come on here first to see if anyone else with a V20 is using this application and having the same problem.
I recently rooted my phone and at first I did not use a Custom Rom like (Overdrive, Etc.) and I ran into the same problem where the stats are showing Wi-Fi constantly running. I thought I may have deleted or frozen something using TitaniumBackup and I just could not figure it out at all and decided to go ahead and try the Overdrive Custom Rom to see if was something I did.
And of course after setting up my phone BetterBatteryStats is showing Wi-Fi is constanly running again...even on a clean install of a Custom Rom. It is not "On" because that is labeled as something else within the stats and it does not seem to be draining battery even though it shows "100%" battery usage. I am still achieving at the end of the day "1.0%" drain every hour.
But I appreciate you commenting and not just "Viewing" like the other 100 or less viewers have.
I still have no idea what would cause this type of battery usage with the Wi-Fi.
I decided to go ahead and do a fresh clean install of OverDrive's Custom Rom. I have not loaded any of my apps from Titanium Backup but Better Battery Stats.
After 2 hours now BBStats does not show this type of battery usage anymore.
So I am even more puzzled now. It may be that I deleted an app or apk or frozen something that requires Wi-Fi to behave properly.
Is there a list of aps or apks that we can safely remove or freeze?

Check in developer options and make sure allow WiFi room scans is turned off, when on it sends your location data to Google even when you turn WiFi off.
wifi
Common sense isn't all that common
@ZDeuce2
That was the first place I thought to look because I remember that being an issue with the Nexus 6 but unfortunately it was already disabled.
But I believe it may have been something I deleted or froze because I went ahead restored all of my apps one by one that I had prior just to see if it was an app of mine and I did not delete or freeze or anything this time around and Wi-Fi is not showing any usage at all with the BBStats app.
Yea I am puzzled but I am a happy camper now. BBStats is showing a solid "0.2%" battery usage every hour! Getting awesome battery life now.
Thank you though good sir for the comment.
