Buy a G1 on Ebay or Elsewhere

This seller seems to have multiple G1's to sell, the price is insane but that's what you get for a pre-release device, if anybody's interested go for it and come back with information.

I can get a G1 for a pretty good price, more than the retail will be but it hasn't released and will sell out quick, so yeah. Would anyone be interested in a G1 for like $600 shipped, I'll send it out on Monday morning overnighted USPS with insurance? Brand new, still in box. Let me know.

As for the iPhone, I have an iPhone 3G brand new in box like 8 feet away from me... And no intentions and/or temptations of removing it from the factory packaging.
Back to the G1, I think I have someone set to buy, but I'll update here later on.

Isn't full price $399...? Only having T-Mobile specific 3G bands, the G1 wouldn't get past EDGE on other carriers like AT&T...

Exactly, it would only get EDGE on AT&T... Why do you think I'd never buy one for myself?
And yeah, full price is $399 but considering they're already sold out and then some on preorders, good luck getting one any time soon.
I could get the phone for like $450-460 shipped right now, but like I said, I have no use for it. There are people paying $1000+ for them, so I figured 600 wouldn't be too bad for both sides.

The pre-order alottment is sold out, yes. The stores in 3G areas will be getting them on Oct. 22nd though. I guess if someone in a non-3G market wanted one ASAP and didn't want to wait until 11/10 -- might be happy to find you

There won't be plenty in stores, if you preordered before October 3rd you'll get yours shipped 22nd-23rd, if you preorder after it'll take them longer to get it to you. I'm willing to bet this turns out to be a lesser iPhone surge, but like I said it's irrelevant to me because I have AT&T. I was going to buy and re-sell it, instead I just gave the guy who asked me contact info of where to get it for $460, I'm too lazy to go through that.

Yeah can't say im shocked about people like this who try and rip people off, if i had that much money to spend on a phone it sure wouldn't be spent on the g1!!

Pretty expensive right? 626,95 USD (4 670,03 SEK) incl shipping to Sweden + tax and customs, but what options do you have when ordering to Europe? Is there a better deal, preferrable "Buy it now"?

I have mine for a few hours and already have it listed on eBay. I had to just touch it and look at it and now .. UP FOR AUCTION. I have the Xperia on order. I think it comes the end of the month. All I know is Windows Mobile.
Any way .. the phone is awesome. The thing I like the best as to the way it is built is the slide mechanism of the keyboard,. I think I have owned just about every GOOD PHONE out this year, including the HTC Touch Pro .. this keyboard is the nicest and the feel and the weight is just perfect. Hoping I like my Xperia as well ...

... I couldn't do it .. My auction was over $300 and I cancelled all bids and put my sim card back in. I will probably still buy the Xperia when it comes out - unless I fall in love with the dream. And if I don't I think I will give the Dream to my son rather than 'scalp' it on eBay.
Haven't had time to figure out how to just do the simple things .. I want to learn how to voice dial .. When I close a program is it really CLOSED or is it still running in the background sucking the life out of my battery ?? Maybe tonight I will take a closer look . . couldn't skip work 2 days in a row.

Viable to purchase unlocked g1's off ebay?
Hey guys,
I've found some "unlocked" handsets on ebay for sale, but was wondering if they would still be restricted to the 2g network??
As that's where I thought they were currently with their "unlocking" process...
Also does T-Mobile do anything special in order for gmail to push mail to the device, or is that just like controlled entreily over a standard data connection?

2g/3g isn't a restriction. Its a hardware limitation.

When the phone is fully unlocked it will work on any network with both 2G and 3G.

From what I know it will not work with ATT 3G as they are different frequencies and I have heard lots of problems with peoples Unlocked G1's syncing to google/gmail under other carriers other than T-Mobile.

Unlock For Root?

Is it possible to Unlock a Rooted G1 and if so, how? I have a rooted G1 and I want to Unlock it and sell it to one of my friends so that I could buy the iPhone 3G. Also, does anybody know how much G1's go for? I don't want to rip him off but I don't want to get ripped back. I'm thinking $300-$400. The current G1 has a few scratches on it from being dropped but runs PERFECTLY and is all up-to-date... it even has CyanogenMOD 4.1.11.1 soo? Thanks...

i say sell it for double so that way when you buy the iphone, and regret selling your G1 you can have enough money to buy another G1... just my 2 pennies

There's no way you could do that. Sprint doesn't use sim cards. But hey sell it to him for $763,987.99.

to unlock, call t-mobile if you have a plan through them. here's a better question, why wouldn't you regret selling your G1

It's pointless to waste your time or money unlocking it because sprint doesn't use sims and they are CDMA where the G1 HAS TO HAVE a sim and is GSM. You prolly will prefer a iphone though it is less work.

just sell your g1 on ebay for like 300 and get a refurb 3g 16gb from att for 99, just gotta get a 2yr contract (maybe u have a family member who needs a cell plan or a good friend/gf. except if they ship it with 3.1 firmware your ****ed cuz it cant be unlocked for another carrier unless you get one of those special sim cards on ebay.

^^^^ Agreed. $400 plus shipping is the MOST I would pay for it IF it was in mint condition with not a single scratch on it i.e would pass for new with original box and accessories. Anything more than that would be highway robbery.

I'm willing to let mine go for 400! No scratches on the screen, a few nicks on the case though. Never had the dust under the screen problem. I could even be talked down lower if persuaded, I just really want 3G!

I bought my phone from Google back in January and there is dust under the screen. I am pretty sure I can get the phone exchanged under warranty. But my question is, will HTC Canada let me exchange it for the one with the 850 band?

It will just be more convenient if they just send me a replacement with the 850 band. Is there a support number in Canada that I can call? I actually bought the phone in Hong Kong during my visit there in January. I can get HTC ship it to Canada now since it's officially sold in Canada, right?

If anyone is feeling a little desperate, I will buy your T-Mobile version right now for $300 shipped. I know it's low but the upside is that you'll get the money asap and have a AT&T Nexus One in hand by the end of this week if you're quick about it.

I don't think it's being shipped from Canada. I'm pretty sure it's being shipped in from the states, otherwise they wouldn't use DHL International shipping.

Just ordered mine! Looks like the wife gets my old ancient N1 tomorrow.

Well my Tilt 2 will go on ebay to make up for the 529 + Tax that I just shelled out to get the ATT 3G version that went live today.
Can't wait to play around with it when it gets here.
PS: overnight shipping is thrown in for free from the google site.

Mytouch to Nexus??

I have a mytouch 3g (3.5mm jack) and im kinda tired of it.. its kinda slow... So whats the fastest phone i can use with tmobile? is it the nexus??? or i should wait for something else to come out?? is it worth it the upgrade???
Also i have heard that the internet on the nexus is alot slower than the internet on the mytouch (3G)

I have never used the mytouch. I've held it in my hand and whatnot, at the store, and goofed off with it. And I've noticed that the response time is noticeably slower than my Nexus, and the nexus just feels amazing in my hand, and is a breeze to use. I can't tell you about the internet speeds, but I would take a Nexus over a mytouch any day.

If you are always waiting for the latest and greatest, you'll never get anything because as soon as something comes out, something better is coming out "soon".
Personally, I have an N1 and would not give this up for any phone on the market now, or anything coming out anytime soon.

I have both, the N1 in ALL areas is better than the MT3G, even internet speeds
You can grab a N1 or, like my Wife, wait for the Samsung Galaxy or whatever it will be called on T-Mobile

Better is a subjective term for you and you alone to decide.
I'd rather buy an N1 unlocked for $500 and save $ with the EV+ plans than buying a Galaxy at $199 paying $70-80/mo if that is what you are asking...

Well i have a family plan.. so i could get it from google's at $529, i looked in craiglist and chapest one is about $450 (tampa, FL) so i rather pay the extra and get warranty from google.

hey miguel, there is a seller on craiglist who is selling his nexus one for 400 dollars. you want his number? i can pm you since we live in the same city.
i dunno about you, but i think 400 is pretty cheap compare to what i see on threre. i would have get it if i didn't got one yesterday for 450 dollars and if it didn't took him a long time to reply my texts.

Samsung galaxy eats the n1 in power and gpu and has a beautiful super amoled screen with a flawless touch screen and it records 720 p without a hack....
But it has no flash, froyo wont be soon unless custom and well its Samsung and looks like a iphone...
If it had flash 10.1 and a camera flash. Id be on it... damn no flash for camera what?

They are going for around 480 on ebay right now. I lucked out and bought one for 430. I have another one that has a few small scratches on the screen that I would sell you for 425, including shipping, through paypal. PM me for details.

I switched from a Nexus to a Evo 4g. Reason being is that T-Mobile's service isn't that great where I live. Like I'm at my sisters right now and I get 2 bars of Edge on my Nexus and Full bars of 3g on my Evo. Anyways, Nexus is one of the best phones on the market, I feel sad that I made the switch, but I couldn't take the spotty coverage anymore. I'd recommend you look up and see if
Samsung Galaxy is interesting to you, otherwise just get a Nexus.

yea, the good thing about t-mobile is that they don't have a lot of good phones lol. so you save a lot of bucks without having to catch up to technology. tbh, the nexus one is nice. and wow, some of you have more hat one nexus? you guys are ballin lol. but nexus one at 300 something dollars is a really good deal.

Keep checking everyday, I just bought mine for $490 total and its the ATT version which is more expensive.

It's on iWireless as well for $300 subsidised, $650 unlocked. I think that's the only way to get it now. Google will be adding a few third-party suppliers soon, so stay tuned.

The Nexus One is a DREAM phone, its great and you wont regret it. However, personally, if i was in your position, I would not buy the Nexus One. Not because the phone is bad, far from it. But because the phone is being outclassed by newer phones like the Galaxy S or the newer Droids. I would advise looking at those, before going to the Nexus One, you can get them cheaper, and they have newer tech. However, if you have your mind set on the nexus one then you wont regret it. Just my 2 cents.

You're on XDA, making it a fair possibility that you'd want more than just stock on an N1. In that situation I'd still put the N1 over the Galaxy or Droid, though yes, they're here too.
