Reboot Android - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

Is there anyway to reboot just android without booting into WM first?
Some time ago, when I pressed the reset button on the back, the phone rebooted into android directly (from the splash screen, not the linux kernel) I guess only the UI restarted but I am not sure.
Is there something that I can do to just restart android?
BTW I am using shubCRAFT CM6RC2 version of Android

please do not start a new thread this is the reason why u havnt been answered but to answer ur question yes, its called dual booting

I was not talking about a complete Android hard reboot but just a cold reboot. I do understand there are various loaders but they all work from within WM.

Problem G1 logo freeze on Update

I have JF 1.1 Holidey version (I think it says: Model no.: Android dev Phone 1; Firmware Version 1.1; Baseband Version: 62.33.20.08H_1.22.12.29 ; Kernel version: 2.6.25-01843-gfea26b0 [email protected] #1 ; Build number: holiday_devphone-userdebug 1.1 UNLOCKED 130444 test-keys) and when I try to update it to jf1.5 it gets stuck on the G1 logo, I tried using differnet updates to and differnt sd cards
and even tried the JF updater and it dosent work (Both the radio update and the update itself), I'm a bit frustrated, my brother rooted the phone for and installed the RC29 rom and the JF rom,
it offered me a system holiday update awaile ago and when I updated it froze on the G1 logo after I waited a long time (about 45 min) I removed the battery and started the phone again.. then I saw about 35MB free space (before I had only 10MB) and I think that from that point it added the holiday but I'm not sure if it wasn't already before that.. I realy need your halp with this.. I can't find a way to boot my phone and start a bootloader..
I search in many threads and couldn't find an answer..
p.s. I was able to get to the fast boot when I press the power + Camera but I don't know how to use it..
Please Search and post in the correct thread/forum. Thank you.
shutdown
home+power
alt-w
system should auto reboot.
if no joy, grab your favorite ROm (I suggest Cyans) and through it on your SDcard's root as update.zip. then
shutdown
home+power
alt+l
alt+w
alt+s
home+back
system will reboot. let it hang for a few minutes, it takes a little bit to restructure the file system and boot for the "first" time. much in the same way as booting up a comp with a fresh install of windows.

you have to hold home for a few it does'nt pop up right away
I held it for over 2 min.. still stuck..
I'm in the same boat. Stuck on G1 logo screen.
As the mod indicated this Topic is discussed many times already.
I'm having the same issue, i just called tmobile and getting it replaced.
ya, your recovery.img file is probably screwed up in the flash. download the dreaimg.sbh file or whatever for the RC29/RC7 and start over from scratch, it should fix your recovery menu. you are able to get into your camera+power menu, so your are not bricked. just be careful next time.
Help!

I'm not 100% certain on this, but I believe the answer would be no. You might want to reboot it and hold the power button down to get into the MAGLDR menu and see if there is a reset option. However, I don't think there will be anything there that can help. Sorry!
I stand corrected (thankfully)
I tried the ad hard reset but still got boot loop ill just reflash the rom when I get home

[Q] HTC Wildfire bricked? need help /will give reward

hello i just wanted to see if i still could get help with my useless device
Ok so yesterday ive rooted the phone and today i tried to install cyanogen mod 7 rom
i used rom utility which i ve downlaoded from android marketplace
now sometimes my phone boots and gets to the logo loop
ive heard that clearing cache and settings would work but i cant access these menus as my hboot is not reacting to my key presses , i tried to reflash the phone but nothing came with success.
I used android sdk and RUU but nothing with success .
maybe anyone would teamview me or give me step by step tutorial how to get this phone alive again would be appreciated
You will be rewarded
You rooted the Phone with a App from the Market?
You need if your HBoot is lower then 1.* the unrEVOked Tool.
If its 1.* there is no way to flash it.
Okay, maybe it worked with yout root app from the market, dunno, but i dont think so.
So you cant access while pressing volume down (keep holding) and switching on the phone the bootmanager? oO thats no good.
The Logo will stay up to "15minutes (<-?)" after flashing a new Rom. In this time its possible, that you Phone restarts automaticly. its normal. Switch it on an wait up to an half hour. If it keep staying in the boot sequence while showing the logo you got a problem .
I think there isnt a more unsave way than a "Flash by teamviewer". You have also pay attention to the phone while flashing. on TV you cant keep an eye on it.
But how can you reflash your phone without getting access to the bootmanager/ HBoot? I think you habe to access the clockwork to flash cm7 *thinking*.
If u nowhow to use adb try n get a adb logcat if possible
Sent from my HTC Wildfire using XDA App
Hi borris and daddyspud thanks for your reply ,i cant move around in hboot ,my hboot version i 0.80.0003
Ive rooted it using unrevoked with clockwork mod on it.
now even when i get it to boot it just loops in cyanogen animation, should i leave it for 15 minutes to do its thing?
also im new to this so i dont know anything about sdk and adb,all i did is saw the tutorials using it ,so i thought i would use it just to give it a go
HBoot 0.8 is rootable, so its okay.
If there is still an animation while you see the CM Logo everything is fine.
If it freeze for some minutes is there a problem. The Animation shows you "i am working / installing".
Yes, let him do his thing for some Minutes.
I think everting should be okay and after some minutes it will work like normal.
It reboots sometimes it self, but this is also okay.
I dont know... does the new CM7 also install a new HBoot? So its possible why you cant move around in it.
Do you wait about 10 seconds before you try to move around in it? Because in the first seconds it looks like it freezed an then it start a test or something. this takes about 10seconds then you can use it.
Its not bricked if its turning on.
Can you get into recovery? If you can try flashing the 4.1 kernel.
If that doesnt help, go into recovery and do a full wipe. Clear cache and dalvik, and under partitions menu format everything except SD card. Then flash CM7, then the 4.1 kernel
Remember first boot will take 10-15 minutes. Be patient. If youve done everything right you shouldnt have any problems
Hi and thanks for cooperation ,i left my phone on cyanogen animation for an hour and nothing is happening just animation loop constantly.
I've just tried hboot and it searches for the PC 49 DIAG and says not found after that it freezes and i cant use any menu navigation buttons . in hbot and fastboot.
I dont even know what to do next
Much help appreciated guys
oO
thats weird.
the PC49DIAG is a part of the rom it self. So i think you have to try to re-flash it. Did you try it with or without a goldcard?
before you flash your phone whipe ALL datas on it!!!
If i start in bootloader mode i get also all the "missing" errors but i can still use the vol up/down buttons to navigate around.
That should help.
I think you did something wrong while flashing.
the root failed?
you got an error while flashing?
goldcard?
Try to flash a RUU from shipped roms. DONT flash a Froyo rom, you will get the HBoot 1.* if you do this.
Recoverymode doesnt work in the hboot?
If you try recoverymode you will get a blackscreen with an triangle.
most say "press the power button" to enter the recovery mode. if this doesnt work press the "volum up button (hold it) then the power button" this should enter recovery mode.
**EDIT**
http://shipped-roms.com/index.php?category=android&model=Buzz use a www-rom its without a branding. and use a RUU rom.. and pls dont use a froyo rom. after flashing this your root is gone i think but your phone will be alive again.
dont try the cm7 this time. use a stock rom.
is it alive again?
i talked today to someone who hat exactly the same problem like you.
it was simple to fix the problem... he (you also?) didnt
whipe the phone before he flashed the cm7. thats why it wont stop looping
in the cm7 animation.
after whiping and reflashing everything was fine.
... did you whipe it b4 flashing?

[Q] Cannot get CyanogenMod v0.9 to install - can't get CWM to reboot into recovery

ThinkPad Tablet A400
Android v. 4.0.3
Have an app that needs to run on Android 4.1 and quickly found out this 2 year old device was pretty much left unsupported since about 3 months after I bought it in May of 2012. So, I located the links to xda-developers and dove into the install process.
Got the device to Root following install directions etc.
Cannot get the device to reboot into recovery mode from ROM Manager nor via ROM Installer.
Tried installing the CyanogenMod v0.9 anyway from inside either aforementioned utility (from the .zip file), just reboots back to the normal state.
I'd pay to download & install Android 4.1 on this device, seriously...just lost 6 hours of time attempting to do this ROM upgrade.
any suggestions?
First thing that comes to mind is that you should use the volume up button multi-press on device power-up to get to Recovery Mode.

I've tried various combinations of that Vol button....still stubbornly refuses to go to CWM.
Now, I am running Android 4.0.3..perhaps that is the issue, ie. perhaps the CWM image file was intended to be used on TPTs running Android 3.x.
It'd be nice to go to a site and buy a $50 OS load....
Well....wonders never cease. I happened across a post talking about the TECHNIQUE to reboot the TPT into CWM...so, sure enough...I got the puppy into CWM.
HERE 'tis for the rest of us nuves out there:
Entering/Booting CWM Recovery on the Thinkpad Tablet
Shut down your Thinkpad Tablet
Press the power button until the Tablet vibrates
Keep pressing and releasing the volume up button until you see Booting Recovery Kernel Image in the upper left corner. It's all about timing of when the volume up button is pressed. That's why it's a good idea to just keep on pressing and releasing the button until the message appears.
Well i continued on with the Jelly Bean load from the xda-developers...and after reboot to ver 0.92 the tpt seemed to freeze on the os boot screen.
So, i fell back to the 4.0.3 os and will read-up on what can freeze the reboot into 4.1 android.
CWM is a cool program..gotta say it.
Can't get it to install CWM
Tried numerous times but now I have lost my original recovery and it just loops,
Changed permissions but won't go and when I am in the recovery boot after pushing the volume button it just reboots as there is nothing there suggestions?
Honestly, the best thing you could do is get something newer/better supported. I hate saying that, because I bought the 64gb version right around the same time you did. The tablet had so much potential with the pen, USB, sd slot, and even pci-e, but it suffered from non-existant Lenovo support, and very little dev support. Koshu's work on it was amazing, but without trim I feel like I have to constantly wipe and start fresh to do anything with it. Clearing dalvik from time to time helps, but not as much.

HD2 Stuck in bootloop

Hey guys,
I have my sisters HD2 here, which I equipped with Android 2 years ago.
It is stuck in a bootloop and I can only access CotullaHSPL. Longpressing the power-button doesn't bring me anywhere. Any way to fix it up again? I just have a Mac here and think it's not possible to install a new recovery without installing Magldr again?
Cheers,
elmo108
If it's stuck in a bootloop, we can assume that you still have your android bootloader working. Now if you don't see Magldr's header at the top when booting up, then you have cLK, otherwise it's MAGLDR.
If you have MAGLDR, hold the end button when you see magldr's header. (Does this also take you nowhere?)
If you have cLK, boot up the device and immediately hold the back button. This should bring up cLK's interface.
From there, check that you have cwm installed. If it is installed, then just copy the same ROM and flash it again. (Or resize partitions then flash the rom if you want to install another one)
If it's not installed, just follow one of the guides available on this forum to install the recovery.
You said you've installed Android two years ago, so I'm assuming you're familiar with all of those stuff.
Good luck.
