Has anybody took the dive with the MR2 update yet?
No. I don't really see the point & don't even know what the update does. I'll be sticking with the Energy ROM.
It is only a minor radio change from 2.55 to 2.55.02. I ran it all week to find my signal not improve yet have my battery drain 2 or 3 times faster. I went back to MR1.
hi, i have this epic sin november. at this moment i am in version 2.1 with phoenix kernel. This combination in working very good without any promblem, inclusive the battery live is amazing.
i tried to install the new version and was very good with the exception of the battery life, drain faster thant the 2.1 version. My wife have froyo 2.2 and have the same problem. any suggestion?

you're not alone, i too am having the major battery drain problem.
a454nova is right, its already been talked about. haha
Please post questions in General section.
I just called samsung asking about gingerbread issues. The guy which i spoken to was suprisely very technical and from he's knowledge the current JV* (JVA/JVB/JVH) arent final yet and they know about this issues. Stable and probably final version of gingerbread for Galaxy S will be released in mid June in EU.
What are you talking 'bout willis?
Charged mine three days ago and at 33% now on JVH.
Am I the only one who got a good battery deal out of this update?
I've been on JPY for the past couple of weeks and lucky if battery lasted 3 or 4 hours. Now on JVH and still got 68% after 12 hours

Dozens of people got issues with Android OS battery drain (including myself), thats why i called samsung for info about this issue. What reply i got you can read in first post.

Which is suspect given he says JVH is not final yet, but is currently being delivered to some countries via Kies, the official distribution method of final firmware.
No issues here on JVH.
Batterylife here is simply amazing with JVH if I remove syncml.apk in /system/app (never had any AndroidOS batterydraining problem in JVK/JVB/JVH after removing this file).
I just don't know wether I should charge my SGS if it still has 62% battery left before sleeping, lol. A big problem - I know
But I really hope this (and some other bugs) will be fixed finally in the new firmware release
Please notice that you CANT remove or rename files when you dont want to root your phone. Then the issue exist.
I was also good with JVB for a couple of days, then suddenly it started to drain battery.
The same on JVH (latest), one day good, but at the end of second one boom, battery drain pops up on Android OS process.

That's true and the only way to remove AndroidOS battery drain and it is not that user friendly...
So I'm still hoping for a fixed firmware release (batterylife should be amazing for everyone then )

Any software being generally distributed by kies or any other official route is a "final" production version ie. It has gone through internal alpha and beta testing and been deemed stable enough for general release to the public. It does not mean it is perfect or final in the sense that it may be followed by a further, improved version as long as it continues to be under ongoing development. In that sense nothing is ever final, however any official public version is....until the next one

Dunno if its battery drain really, but if i leave the phone connected to the charger overnight i gies to 100% and then seems to discharge. First night it went down to 87%, this morning i had 91%. The battery is lasting good anyway, but i find it annoying not having 100% in the mornings.. On JVH btw.
You do need to let the battery calibrate - especially after flashing new roms. Occasionally fully charging while turned off is all that is required

In the latest ROMs, the battery stops charging once it has reached 100% and it does not start charging again until you disconnect and reconnect the cable.
Yesterday my battery went down to 30% while plugged-in. I was using the phone and downloading apps through 3G (something that eats battery pretty fast) and the phone had the "battery fully charged" icon on the top left, but it was running on battery, not taking power from the USB cable.
Take this into account if you want to go out with the phone battery fully charged.
The weird thing that makes me thing this is not a final release is that its released only to 2 regions (NEE/XEE), no other regions recieved this update including UK.
I just posted on what information i got from samsung. If you got no problems with this rom, lucky you, if yes then wait for next one.
This is not a flame thread. Remember bout that.

i m on jvb and rooted. no drain on battery if phone idle. gingerbread is a better rom than froyo.
final or not its a better rom so why not trying rooting it?

Sorry, syncmldm.apk is the right one (software update).
Delete this file (you don't need this if you update with odin, kies or cwm).

It's being rolled out incrementally. Normally these things start off quite slowly and If no major hitches get wider release.

Yes I know...are you suggesting they are not testing the water with this release too before accelerating it?

Hi everyone. I just restart my phone and before I did my battery was at 82% per circle battery widget but when it started again the battery is listed at 100%. That's both on circle battery widget and the battery indicator.
Is this a know problem? I just don't know what my actual battery left is now.

Yes it's a known issue. What ROM are you on?
Posted from my unlocked, rooted, & de-bloated Motorola Atrix (Olympus) running 2.3.4 Gingerbread dosed up on Dorian's RedPill v2 using the XDA App.
known issue. supposedly works with this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1174349

That fixed the jumping issue for me. The current version will cause the Battery & Data Manager to FC though. Still waiting on the deodexed files to be released to clear that up...
Thanks for this info. I installed the zip and will see if there's a difference.

It would be nice to track a real fix here in this thread.
I only saw this issue once. I use an aftermarket battery from Seidio, and I've NEVER gotten it to calibrate correctly... Not in 2.2, and now not in 2.3...
I've tried all the "Charge it to 100, then CWM, clear battery..." suggestions, but the second I pull it off the charger it drops to 95%.
Need serious help my phone for some reason always drops from around 63-50 and then when it gets to 33 it goes to 20? how can i fix this problem? im using eppy 16/4/12 nightly ROM.
same issue
I am using cm9 latest nightly ending23 on SGS2. Battery life is getting worst with each updated nightly build nothing you can do apart from carrying a spare battery. Tried other roms but this is the best by far. I am sure it will be sorted soonish ??
