Is there A Movie Folder CAB? - HD2 General

Kinda like how transformers quicklink is attached to the Transformers folder on the SD card. I want to use the HTC media player as my defualt and not WinMo Media Player.

you can do that but not as a folder...what you would do is copy the movie file...and paste it is as a shortcut in the start menu in the windows folder. Is that confusing enough for you go to your movie using the file explorer..click and hold do copy then go to the windows/startmenu/programs then paste as shortcut...then you can add it as a quicklink!

that still wont make it play in the htc player though itl just open in whatever is default, probably win media.
theres a solution out there just search, i dont remember since i use coreplayer

Just make sure it's an .mp4 file and it will automatically open in the HTC player.

i cant find the menu you talk about when you do this, i can go to the windows start menu, but there is no programs list, no place to paste any file...

You don't go to the start menu itself to paste that....you open file explorer on your phone and navigate to \windows\start menu, then just long-press to bring up options, and choose "paste"

even when i do that, movies dont work, mp4 ones shoe a black screen with a loading symbole, then after about a half second it just takes me back to whever i was before i tried to oped the file. and avi movies bring up windows media player and an error message says it cant play the file... any help here?

windows media player mobile reg edit.

I installed some sh!tty player on on my precious wizard, then removed it. Now I can't open my media files with wmplayer. I mean I can open them from the inside of the player, but not when I browse them from file explorer. I looked for reg edit command to change the program media files open with, but now luck? Anybody knows how to do this?
Also I cannot seem to get my image vieweing thing to do a slideshow.
Thanks -Greg.
Just choose the file you want to play in file explorer and then click menu-->open path-->new path and direct it to WMP in the windows folder. After that, all of your files of the same type should open with WMP again, atleast that's how you fixed it in WM2003 anyway. I haven't had to try it in WM5 or WM6 to know for sure.
I don't know about the slideshow thing though, I've never used that before.

The crappy player you installed was associated with (wav) files that are for windows media player. Try re-installing that same player, look at its file associations, uncheck (wav) may have kept settings after removal, and then remove the player again if you still don't want it. soft re-set, check files in file explorer, and if all the above actuated, the files should have the wmp icon. Word of advice from experience....always remove settings from programs that were installed before you remove that program. As far as slide show, are you meaning where songs play in sequence (queued up)? By the way, what was the crappy player? I've removed a few of them myself..
hey guys thanks much for replies. Xeno I couldn't get the path thing to work. If I type in \windows\wmplayer.exe it just opens player in library mode, doesn't change the way it opens either. The player was pocket dvix player. I was looking for something that will play AVI dvix and xvid files. Now I installed something called TCPMP pocket pc player and it works very very well.
TCPMP is way better than WMP anyway. Sorry the open path didn't work, but like I said, I wasn't sure if it still worked that way or not in WM5 and 6. Atleast now you have a better media player. TCPMP is the only player I ever use.

Is There A Way To Save Playlist To Memory Card?

I downgraded firmware to gain root access and install Hero, all my playlists are gone. Over 300 songs have to put them all in playlist again. Is there a way to save playlists like we do for windows media player playlist?
I REALLY wish I knew this as well... Everytime I have to wipe my playlists are gone...
EDIT: Was thinking... does MyBackupPro save playlists? That would be worth the cost...
No. The way to do it is backwords. Create the playlist on your PC and save it to your SD card (pls file will work as well).
huh!? can you explain this in more detail? how do I create a playlist for my G1 on the PC?
mm0
never mind...got it...
So, this is what I did...
1) mount the G1 on a windows computer.
2) Open Windows Media Player
3) Import the 'Music' folder of the G1 into Windows Media
4) Go to the 'Library' tab
5) Drag files from the G1 to the 'Now Playing' window
6) Use the drop down box above the 'Now Playing' window to do a SaveAs
7) Save as a .m3u type playlist
8) Copy the playlist file to the 'Music' folder of the G1.
Done

P.S. The .m3u file seems to work as is, even though if you open it up with a text editor, it shows the path as a windows path...regarless of that, it works.

you can delete the path and keep the file name only if you save the m3u file at the same folder of the music files
What I do now is sync playlists from WMP to my G1 (some reason when syncing WMP playlists to phone it copies mp3s to the phone and not the playlist itself). Then I go to my music folder on my computer and then copy the playlist folder onto the G1.
I just do a party shuffle when I'm lifting
I used WMP for awhile but it hated my tags. So I tried out Media Monkey. After setting it up all the way (per this post), it is way better than WMP. Easy syncing and easy playlist copying. Just a FYI.

Music library problem

Hey!
Is it possible to define a folder where the music library should get all the music? I have files from G-Alarm and so on in it but can´t find a solution how to delete them outta the library..
Same problem here, every sound file type is shown there...
anyone an idea??
Annoying as hell... HTC needs to update this to allow us to point to a specific folder! I tried googling the issue but didnt come up with a solution...
Have you tried HIDDING the specific folder using an alternative explorer (like Resco explorer or Total Commander) ? In Total Commander, long press on the specific folder, choose "properties". There you can choose the attribute "system" and click on "recurse subdirs" so it applies to all files under that folder. This works to hide image files from the ALBUM, so there's a good change you'll fix this using the same method.
By the way, talking about Music library, do you experience some crashes of the music player after adding new files using mp3 cable? If so, this thread might interest you. I think there are problems with the way the player handles the ID3 tag of mp3.
Read this and relay the info, please.
I tried hiding some folders but then they get shown no where! For example: tried to hide g-alarm folder and the alarm tone also disappeared in the G-Alarm app... never expected crashes!
but the volume up & down buttons dont really work while i´m in the music app! when im on the home screen and mp3s are playing in the background, volume keys work perfectly no idea
I even went into the registry to HKLM\Software\HTC\AudioManager_Eng\Config and changed the device scan path and fooled around with other stuff... nada... everytime after a soft reset, it still had ALL the system sounds and stuff in there.
Also, in that same registry folder, there is a ring_tone_path entry which probably explains why some of the ring tones don't show up....??
Can someone who knows a little more about this stuff enlighten us?
hello,
a workaround:
create playlist with one ore two files (songs).
after than close today-htc-sense.
open \Application Data\HTC\AudioManager_Eng\playlists\name-of-your-playlist
and put all your wanted songs in it (i mean, you have to write/edit the file)
tip: use cmd (dos) for trickies like "dir c:\folder\with\my\songs\ > c:\playlist"
you will get on c:\ a file with name "playlist". this could be use for editing "manila-playlist". put this file after finished back to \Application Data\HTC\AudioManager_Eng\playlists\ and starts your today-htc-sence.
i know, its a little bit grrrr and looks like work for end-of-life, but i say its a workaround and after three or four playlists you will be a profi.
Found a solution.
This will only work if you have your music on SD card. I also have tomtom maps there but no actual tomtom so for me it is only music on sd card.
1. Start from removing your card and then going to music tab so it rescans and states no music found. (Skip to step 3 if you are starting from clean rom)
2. Go to registry editor of your choice and navigate to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\AudioManager_Eng (for german it will be AudioManager_Ger)\Information
Delete all items in that folder. You will not be able to delete Information it self.
If you are on clean rom you will not even have that folder it is created 1st time when music tab finds music.
3. Navigate to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\AudioManager_Eng\Config
In there change:
"device_scan_path_path" from what ever there is to \Windows
"device_scan_path_path_0" from what ever there is to \Windows
"ring_tone_path" from what ever there is to \Windows
What this will do is exclude all files in windows folder. If you have any files in my documents they will show up. I assume if you just put "\" instead of "\Windows" it will exclude entire my device but did not test it.
4. Soft reset, insert your SD card and enjoy.

Get media player to only find real MP3 music? Not system sounds?

Hello!
How in the world can you designate the media player to only find and list ACTUAL songs? I can't seem to point it to only my music folder... it wants to update the library with ALL audio on the phone and memory card... I keep getting system and GPS navigation sounds "turn left", "in a quarter mile" randomly playing in between songs... so annoying..
Any help is appreciated!

sad 2 say its a defect n the well thot out planz.... i use wmp n find my folder n press play... voila
We got this one licked
There's a way around this, and it's fairly simple...
First, it's happening because the "program files" folder on the SD card was never marked as "hidden" from the factory, like the one on the phone is...so any sound files that get placed there from program installs are getting indexed by the music tab.
Just use Total Commander (if you don't have it already, it's darn well time you got it), and navigate to the SD card contents, tap+press the program files folder, then select "properties" from the menu. You'll see the check box for "hidden", check that, then click ok, and soft-reset. When sense comes back up, go to your music tab, wait for it to re-index, and you should no longer see all those unwanted audio files

Mortplayer ?

I have been trying for a while to do this but no solution, I want to load all my music files into one big playlist and play randomly, random i can do but i dont seem to be able to add all my files, is there a search function in mortplayer, can you add a folder or just individual files ???????
D.
quite easy, as long as you have all your music under one big folder, let's say \Storage Card\Music, like me.
Make your favourite that folder, byt going to Open>Manage Favourites, and you're done, after that you just need to select your Music folder that will automatically appear on the Open menu, and press Select right after that. Be sure to activate Shuffle in the play dialogue.
If it helps I use the Steel skin (or a name like that) which in my opinion is the cleanest one.
cheers !
you the man !
