Yes unfortunately my phone is only as good as it can be and again its only my fault for the reason why its acting like so.
I am having a hard time dealing with the freezing up that its doing when recieving MMS. Also I am bothered why everytime I try to send a picture through Text it asks me for a Username and Password. My settings are all messed up and a master reset didnt help.
US, TMobile, HD2 and its just as I got it from the store. The only thing was I intended to update it. I dont think it was succesful. How can I check if I got the proper update.
I enjoy the phone very much but I hate how it gets laggy when recieving messages and I want the original connection settings. As of now I cannot back up my data since I dont have my cable. I am going to the store tomorrow to purchase one. Is there somewhere or someone I can purchase it for a cheap price.
The guide in a way to see if you're on the new ROM. You might want to check the rest of the contents. Also, do not buy your cable from T-mobile. www.monoprice.com probably has them for a dollar or two.
When your phone first boots up, you'll see text in the bottom left corner. The first one is your radio version, and the third one is your ROM.
Mine, a stock phone that came with the newer radio and rom reads:
R 2.10.50.26
G 15.39.50.70u
D 2.13.9063 8g
You can also go into Manilla Settings in the Start Menu, then scroll down to About Phone, then Software Information.
As for the data cable, you state you didn't have one. How are you keeping your phone charged? They are the same cable. That aside, all you're looking for is a Micro USB cable. Certainly do not buy from tmobile. Radio Shack or somewhere online or local sell them for 5 bux or less.
Well, I have a Micro USB Cable that didnt come with the phone. Basically I plug it into my labtop or any usb outlet and my phone charges. Unfortunately I think this cable is a only a power option and not a data transfer. It never is detected with the cable. When I used to use my old cable it would detect fine and also I could use it for internet sharing. This cable is not detected by any computer.
Although I carry my laptop to work with me and hold on to it dearly. Other than that I will be ordering a new cable. As for a stock phone and being on the same rom I just checked and we are.
It seems I have started using swpe now and messaging is worse.
Swype will give you a 10 second delay before you can start in MMS for some reason. There have been a lot of MMS issues addressed, but I'm not sure if that is one of them. I just live with it. Works flawless with email.
As for the cable, maybe you've got some settings turned off in your phone. If you go to Settings, down to Other (Misc), USB to PC, what are your settings? Active Sync? Is the 'ask me first' box unchecked? If active Sync is selected, do you have active sync installed on the pc you have it plugged into? Good idea to do so if not. I find data tasks MUCH easier through active sync than the Disk Drive option.
Other than that, I would assume any micro usb cable would work, as I've used many many different ones, especially if you're getting power. I'm no expert however.

Help! My htc touch P3050 froze while booting and now the touch screen isn't responding. Buttons seem to work but somehow it became locked. Is there anyway to unlock it using hardware buttons alone? I haven't tried a hard reset because I need to get the contact data off first. It won't connect with active sync or my mobiler. It connects as a network but active sync can't connect to it. Any ideas how i can unlock or extract the contacts?

Wow Mobiler wont work either? do you connect to activesync regularly? I remember my phone wouldnt sync to activesync when i flashed over to windows mo 6.1
I had to turn off advanced networking in the connections tab. So i dunno how you would even do this without a program such as mobiler.
The only other option..though it may or may not work is if you go to sprint or verizon and you ask them to do a phone to phone transfer of contacts, but im not even sure how they would do this.
Sorry man i hope other people can respond to your issue.
Yeah I think the reason why active sync won't connect is because it is locked. When I'm in the Get Connected dialogue in Active sync it lists USB as connected but at the same time it says your device was not found. I was wondering If it might be possible to back the rom up from the bootloader to say the microsd card and extract the pim.vol file from there. But I have no idea how to do this.
This recently happened to my Vouge. Basically part of the touchscreen errored and it thought it was always being pushed in this one little area, so it wouldnt recognize any other push. Every now and then you could do something, but it would always pull to that one area.
It was a hardware failure and I had sprint fix it. I wasnt even on insurance. I just argued that it was under year warranty, and there should be no reason to pay because HTC would do it for free. At the time HTC's number wasnt working, so they didnt really have a big choice.
I just accepted that the data was gone and did a hard reset. This fixed the problem with the screen. Thanks for the help guys. Now to set up active sync immediately.
If you dont already use PIMbackup I would definatly give it a try so you dont lose your contacts and msg's next time

you mean to use the phone as a modem? I've never seen a connector for it, but it might be possible.
Apparently my post got caught in the chaos.
I would contact the company that makes the box and see if they can make it communicate with your phone/pda. You should be able to emulate a modem and retrieve the file that has the info that you need. Without reprogramming the box I don't see it possible. First off the modem in the box is going to check for a dial tone which your phone is unable to provide. This can be changed but you have to be able to get into the programming in the box and delete the AT code that checks for a dial tone.

Havn't tried them personally (there are several products like this out there), but they are supposed to connect to phone via bluetooth, and then has a standard phone jack on it. So you simply plug a normal land line phone into the jack and it allows your cell phone to function as a land line. Not sure how well it would work transfering data but probably as close to a solution that I have seen, and wouldn't require some of the other options people are talking about that would require changes to the box.
hi, Please help me i dropped my hd2 and broke the touch screen is there anyway i can backup my phone as i had security code enabled and it wont let me enter it?? insurance company have agreed to fix it just need to post it to them but would like a back up first,
Thanks in advance

I don't know if this will work, but try MyMobiler (http://www.mymobiler.com/) and see if you can get it running without unlocking your phone.
It needs to install something on your device, and I can't remember if it requires any user interaction, and I don't know if it will do it whilst the phone is locked.
It basically gives you control over your mobile from your PC, so you can use the mouse to enter the PIN.
Hope this helps!
Edit:
You'll need ActiveSync (or later windows equivalent) running on your PC.
when i insert usb i cant select active sync its on disk drive
I thought sometimes if you leave the phone once the usb cable is plugged in, it automatically goes to active sync?
(also what insturance plan are you on, just out of interest)
no on mine i think it selects disk drive

Ahh - don't know what you could do then. You'd need it on ActiveSync to control it from anything other than the screen! I guess you're gonna lose whatever's on there

Nah - it defaults to whatever you last used, which was obviously USB drive in this case.
thanks for your help guys just wanted to check before i sent it off hopefully most of its backed up on microsoft my phone
going to post at 550pm unless someone can help back up
john is right, the default is ActiveSync the FIRST time you connect, but after that it defaults to the last option used, but if last was USB Drive and you remove the SD Card it will default to ActiveSync again, this is a first step but I'm afraid you still won't be able to install Mobiler (a fantastic app I discovered 1 hour ago by the way!) as it has to install on the phone and you won't be able to click OK to install at the prompt. But you may be able to Backup files on your PC using activesync, so it worth a try!
Another bit of advice that won't help you immediately, but for future reference, I would highly recommend getting Microsoft MyPhone installed. I've got it backing up contacts, emails, text, photos etc. every night whilst I sleep. It really does help when starting from scratch, after flashing ROMs or hard resets.

Nice one mate.
Good to know there's a way round that problem. I'm sure you won't be the last
I hate that I have such a cryptic title. So the USB 3.0 port broke... the center tab on the USB 2.0 side broke. SO I took the phone to a well-reviewed repair company and they replaced the port. Phone worked for awhile then by the time I got home I noticed the sound was crackly out the speaker, and I wasn't getting data in or out from either the carrier or my wifi router. Then I noticed I wasn't able to send or receive calls.
So I drove back to the repair shop. They said the replacement port module must be defective, and ordered another one that should be in tomorrow. They reinstalled my broken one in the meantime and I rigged the OEM charge cable up so it charges.
BUT.... now it can make and receive calls, BUT:
- The call logs show no calls since this all happened this afternoon. Even though I've made calls.
- I can send texts to people but they don't show up in the conversations. But I receive texts from people that I can view, but when I go back, those aren't showing up, either.
- I still can't connect to the internet, via the carrier or my wifi router (although it says it's connected to the router).
THIS SUCKS. I am supposed to move out of state in a week's time! I started out with a broken USB 3 port but the phone itself worked perfectly. Now I have my broken port back in and a lot of critical functions don't work right or at all!
Please, anyone who can give some thoughts on this, HELP!!!

So I have in my hands the ubiquitous HSDPA USB modem, and an AT&T Sim Card. I plugged in the modem to the USB port of my Windows7 laptop, and it installed the device drivers and brought up the connection screen. When I click connect, it tries for a while, and then shows "Disconnected". Any ideas what is going on? The intent is to use it with a new Android HU that I will be installing in my car, and was testing it out.
I have the same unit (white) and exactly the same experience.. I really hope somebody has a solution.
First question, where did you get the SIM card?
Second question, do you know if it's bound to a valid ESN/IMSI/MSISDN?
You might need to take the SIM back to an AT&T store and have it reflashed.
I feared having the same problem and as such I opted to go with an AT&T Velocity WiFi hotspot instead. I have one in my Jeep and it works pretty flawlessly. Cost me a buck with a 2 year agreement which was not a big deal at all.
