What programs are safe to remove?

Hey guys,
I permarooted my phone yesterday, and got rid of amazon mp3 via titanium back up. There's so much more I want to get rid of, but I don't want to delete something essential to the ROM resulting in force closures forever.
I wouldn't mind so much if I was using some sort of recovery with the complete ROM zip in my SD card.
Back to the point, what can we safely delete?

just back up the apps before you uninstall them, then if you have any issues you can just put it back

I found out the hard way, titanium does not backup system apps.

I thought TB did in fact backup system apps. Maybe when I did it with TB it wasn't really backing them up, but it gave me the option to do it so I did. Figured I would back up the system apps to the ROM in case it was somewhat difficult to un-root if needed.

TB backs up only system data, not the apps themselves.

But it can restore the apps from the backed up data, or am I totally not getting what the batch file for the system app is for?

I deleted everything I didn't want.. No issues

For me, it backed them up and I did see the compressed files. Upon further examination, the compressed files were empty.
What someone else said is true, it does backup the data but it does not backup the app yet it will delete the apps APK files from the /system/app directory. Basically, no way to restore them.

freeze an app first... make sure you get no FC or problems...
then delete it

TB can backup only system app data, that is data from the apps built into the ROM. It does however back up both user apps themselves (elective apps you download) in addition to their data.

I think he just wants to know which apps everyone removed to avoid any issues a head a time.... like a list of what you removed if your not having any issues whats so ever...
I havent got a OTA yet so I cant remove anything either way but if your still waiting to get confirmation on whats def safe to remove Ill let you know when I do it

Could someone be kindly enough to explain what is this permarooted thing for? I did a search and there's guide on how to do permaroot only. and yes I r a nub, my first android. :X

I took out a few things yesterday and found out two important things:
1) Even after removing Facebook for Mytouch you cannot add a Facebook sync account using the market Facebook app.
2) Titanium will not restore apps like Peep or Facebook for Mytouch. It lists it as backed up, but there is no option to restore. ('restore all apps and system data' yielded the same results)
There was an alternate FB app out there for a while that fixed the sync issue, but for myself I just reverted to my nandroid backup.
However, aside from the issue above, I experienced no issues on the phone after removing:
Facebook for Mytouch
Peep
News sync
News
Asphalt, RB, etc
I think I removed a few others but don't want to guess at names and spread misinformation.
May I suggest someone compile a list and create a stickie topic for it?

^^ Yeah, well Titanium cannot backup system apps, and therefore, cannot restore them! It only backs up and restores their data.

Rooting is the process of, basically, gaining full access to make changes to your phone.
Permarooting is a term used specifically relating to the G2 and Mytouch, which were "designed" to revert changes such as rooting after the phone is rebooted. Permaroot is a process by which you bypass this manufacturer "safety feature" and obtain *perma*nent *root* access.
I suspect you may find a better explanation on Wikipedia, but that's the gist of it.

I'll look again and email the dev if I can't find anything.
There are certainly other ways to backup/restore those apps, but the capability to do so in Ti would be some kind of awesomesauce

Titainiam backup

Im using Titainiam backup (free version), is there anyway to back up all apps/SMS/contacts/other data with just 1 click? From what I can find you have to select each 1 seperatly?

About...3 clicks. Menu -> Batch and from there select the one that fits your needs the best.

Quick question re Titanium Backup.... It says it needs "ROOT", does this mean it will not work with a non-rooted system??
I'm using the standard Orange, non-messed with Android (which I'm quite happy with), can I still use Titanium Backup?

You can try Mybackup Pro

The problem with non-root backups is they can't backup everything.
If you don't want to root, then you will probably not be able to backup your apps+data.

Hello, sprite backup ( latest version compatible with Gingerbreak ) save and restore contacts,calendar ... even if you have an unrooted phone ( mine is unrooted and i've restored contacts successfully ) .

Do you what they won't backup?
TBH, Data I'm not so worried about (everything is backed up to the google account online anyway), it's the apps that I've downloaded and paid for that I don't want to lose.

GoSMS Pro will do this for you. I mnow it is a whole seperate SMS app, but it is a guaranteed way for it to work, and doesn't take long. And you might find you like it for SMS anyway

You [will] would not lose anything, they are always available for re-download on the Market or the AppBrain Android Market, unless you use their remove option to remove them from either of your lists of Apps.

What is stuck in root?
When ever a App tries to gain Root Access for the first time Superuser will appear on your screen and Ask if you what to give the App Root Permission or not, and whether to remember the permissions that are given [the default is remember].

Mind you - it's all academic anyway because I have no idea when (or even if) I'll be getting the update. Still seem to be stuck on 1.84.61.2 (as far as I can see). Orange aren't known for their speed on software upgrades.

You sure about that? I am sure google only keeps a copy (id) of what you have downloaded, but not the data within the app. So for example you bought a game, google will know you have bought the game so you can download it, but the data on the game will be lost, i.e. high scores etc...
And also, what about data from apps that you have not use a store, i.e. you used an installer to install it, the data will be lost for that app.
MyBackup Pro is good, but it can't backup the data within the apps (unroot) and that is the problem because of google security.

yes i know that but the superuser app dont appear for me i dont know why?and its just for this app.all other apps appear for me and there is no problem.when i start the app its i get trying to gain root access and the superuser app dont appear???

Yes I am sure of what I wrote, I did not say anything about data being stored.
I do not know about what MyBackUp can and can not do.
Titanium BackUp can back up all Apps and Data. [data can not be restore to a different Rom though]

Do you a CWM installed, if so you could try booting in to recovery, and use the fix permissions to see if it helps to clear the problem with SU.

[Q] How to disable the TF default applications

As above. I need to uninstall some of the app such as Reader etc to have a more leaner TF. I can see some of the app using Root Explorer but is unable to uninstall them.
Any help?

You can uninstall them with titanium backup.

Just done that using Ti

Rather than uninstall I would freeze them with titanium backup.
This way they don't show but if there is an update to theOS it is easy to unfreeze

Is this a big issue? Personally I prefer to remove any apps I'm not currently/planning on using. I am happy to take this advice but now I'm curios - What are the effects of removing one of the default applications prior to updating the OS?

Just like you would unistall, but click freeze. In Titanium, tap an app, freeze. Doneskies.
(EDIT: Don't long press, just tap on the app you want to freeze and you get a menu that will let you back up, freeze, or uninstall.)

Another reason to freeze is sometimes an app is annoyingly attached to the OS that you wouldn't think was. If you freeze it, and suddenly notice other apps acting weird due to dependencies you can just go undo it. I suppose if you freeze something and come back and realize nothing was wrong you could unistall it. I am not sure what the other guy is talking about, but that's more likely because I am dumb than it not making sense.

-Download Titanium backup,
-open up TB and hit the backup/restore tab.
-scroll down to the app in question
-tap on it to bring up a menu with options (freeze, backup, restore, delete, wipe data, ect...

To delete system apps you need root, once rooted you are not gonna be able to update via ota anyway so of you want to delete its fine.

After deleting some app, how to backup the TF? Is there a single click for a full system restore? This is my first time in backing up a tablet.

[Q] Migrating apps to a new ROM

When migrating to a different Android ROM, what is the easiest way to migrate over the apps? Would doing a data restore from the old rom work or maybe titanium? I would hate to have to do a list of all the apps and find them all over again...

titanium and / or astro will actually let you back up your apps (the apks). i use astro (tools > backup i believe - and is free. or if you used markets, etc. will work too of course.

I use Super Box (download it from market, its free)
First you have to back up all apps into SD card.
Then, everytime you change android,
Firstly reinstall Super Box, and then choose menu "Installer"
Then you can see all your apps (in the form of installer file .apk)
Just click what ever you want to install in the new android rom..

If you are on nand rom wipe data in cwm, install new rom then dovan advanced restore with data and if u used a sd-ext also restore the sd-ext.

Will the google apps market save the info of the apps I have? so that it just reloads all my apps into my next rom?

Why do you have to individually re-install each apk? When I used WM and SPB Backup and did a restore, it restored all my apps back without doing an individual re-install. Isn't there an app (Backup/Restore) that will do that in Android?

Yes but that only installs apps you have installed via market, It doesnt install apps that you side loaded and it doesnt restore the app data, only the apk file.

Yes, what you need is Titanium Backup Pro, It is THE best backup solution on Android for apps/data.
You can do anything in batch (pro version).
Trust me when I say that this is what you need!

I have been using TB V3.8.8.1 and it requires a re-install of each apk. Still looking for a way to re-install/recover without the individual re-install.

Did you even bother to read what I said properly?
You need the "pro" version, then you can use the "batch" option in backup/restore. I use this all the time, I can restore ALL apps in 1 go, Absolutely no need to restore individually!!!!!
You can even create a update.zip and flash via recovery instead if you wish

Im going to tell you this one LAST time..
TB DOES support batch and DOESNT need to do it individually. If you are having to do them individually then you do NOT have the "Pro" version, You need to purchase (or get elsewhere) the Pro ticket to update your version before you get all the extra features.
Once you have the Pro version you can restore ALL your apps in one click without having to restore them individually.

TB is the best program in its field, It has the most features and its the most advanced aslong as you have the Pro version, If you are looking for something more then you are simply out of luck so get over it and upgrade.

You just confirmed your 'knacker' attitude. You did not read my posting and understand what I said. So, move on dude. TB can't be the best if you must use the PRO version. The non-pro version implies that you can do a BATCH restore and it does not allow a Batch restore. I got over it before I posted.

Best bloatware remover for a rooted SM-G935T?

Hello mates, I am new to XDA and first and foremost I want thank to thank all contributors and developers for providing amazing tricks, tutorials, and features for all device users.
I own an S7 Edge under T-Mobile carrier (SM-G935T) and last time I tried to remove bloatware/system apps using Titanium Backup I believe I deleted necessary system apps that I shouldn't have deleted.
So my question for you guys is:
What app should I use or which app is the BEST out there that will help me disable ALL UNNECESSARY BLOATWARE without messing up the phone? I've heard of System App Remover Pro, Titanium Backup... but I don't know if Titanium itself would do the work. (I believe I could if I could get a list of Bloatware that can be removed with no problem)

Honestly, I'd stay away from something as invasive as Titanium backup these days. If you do use it use the freeze feature (Only paid version).
They way I did it, I simply went into App Manager and disable natively anything that I could. For system Apps that won't allow me to disable that I know I can safely disable without screwing things up (not very many anymore) I use Package Disabler Pro from the Play Store. You can safely enable and disable system Apps.

Best way to get rid of bloat is install the u firmware.

Don't bother uninstalling system app bloats, just freeze with titanium backup. if you screwed up and froze the wrong file you can always unfreeze. Uninstalling won't get you any extra storage since you can't install user apps in the system partition anyways.

Titanium backup is a nice way to go, but you need root.
I have seen Remove ALL Bloatware from any Android Smartphone without Root
ADB for Windows is a nice way to start.
You can google that as well.
I want to remove the bloat myself, but I am wait for 7 to drop then start cleaning house.

Well yes of course, the OP requested best remover for rooted S7E. If not rooted, the recommendation would have been for EZ Package Disabler or equivalent.
