Froyo OTA - EVO 4G General

I just installed the Froyo 2.2 OTA update and my camera won't open for some reason. I have tried force stopping the camera app, clearing cache and even a hard reset, but the issue still continues.
Anyone else having this problem? Or am I just the luck of the draw?

No problem here, never rooted evo.

Messaging app no longer working cm6

ok so I've been using cyanogen 6 stacker final build for a while now, and ever since I started the messaging app gives me problems.
Every time I open it up it does a force close. It used to only force close when I only tried to text one person in particular, but now its every time I try to open it.
I've moved on to handscent for all my messaging needs since as that makes it work no problem but I don't get picture messages and when I get a message, it'll still pop up with the force close message sometimes fir the stock messaging app.
I thought there was a problem with the install so today I just went and did a full data wipe and wiped all cache, then loaded a fresh copy of cm6 stable build. Got the phone back to normal with my settings and apps and the messaging app still force closes. Anyone have any ideas what is going on here. Its getting to be a huge pain and while handscent works and is better, the constant force closes is getting beyond annoying.

did you redownload the rom or use the same one as before
Since this obviously isn't a wide problem my guess would be something on your end.
Completely wipe everything and start fresh..Don't add anything once you get the ROM loaded. Start text messaging and see if it works. If it does then it has to be either a program you're adding or some data you're restoring.
Then start adding your stuff one by one and check the messaging app..Thats what I would do.
Yes I redownloaded the app and a wiped everything. Fresh install also. How do I prevent the market from redownloading all my apps once I open it for the first time?
I'll def try the adding one app at a time thing

Ok so I tried to do this and there are two options. One is backup data and that is now unchecked. The other is restore data. That one is greyed out. So if I try a new restore it just puts all the apps and settings back. How do I get it so I can unchecked restore data?
Also when I do a data wipe in among_RA how long should that take? Seems to be going very quick, like 5 seconds tops. Is this normal? For some reason I feel as if my problem is that something is not wiping when I do the wipe in recovery.
Any thoughts?
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
Ok go the data restore backup crap disabled. Updated to the lastest amon_RA version 1.8
Went into recovery and wiped everything and reinstalled the stable cm6 rom.
So far so good, but I go to the messaging app and same ****. I get force closes with one specific contact, once that happens it just starts its random force closes no matter what contact.
So what could this be? Is something not wiping correctly? Please anyone have any suggestions or help?

So again to note, I'm still having the force closes on a fresh install of cm6 no other apps installed from market. Nothing.
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
I'm the mean time, I went back to fresh rom 3.2 just to stop all the force closes in the messaging app. I really hate sense and its bloated self. There must be a solution.....
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
Well I fixed it on my own. Was using fresh rom and stated to get some what similar problems with the one contact as before. So I un linked the contact from facebook, and completely deleted the contact all together. Then I made a new google contact and put in the mobile number and saved it. This time I did not link it to the facebook profile. Low and behold I have cm6 another shot this morning with a fresh wipe and install and all is well and working (so far) with no force closes.

Unsuccessful download from Market?

I cannot download any app (paid, free) from market. It stopped working last night. No apps can be downloaded and I am getting the " unsuccessful download, try again" error. I have powered off, checked my Gmail account setting but so far nothing is fixing it. This is AT&T stock 1.6 US version.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks,
same here .....
Probably a market glitch, try again later.

no i'm trying from few days still unsuccessful.
Are you guys using wifi? I am unable to download apps sometimes when using wifi. If that isn't the case, I have had this problem before with the Samsung Captivated and the only way I fixed it was to do a factory reset. Sucks, I know.

Please check your google talk as it has a lot to do with market downloads. If you find it broken or even deleted (as I did), please reinstall with .apk from samsung galaxy s forum.

I cleared the data/cache for Market and Google talk and now it is working. Reboot is needed when it is cleared.
All my installs are failing
All my updates are failing
This is really annoying!
Wifi...
Deleting the Market cache and rebooting doesn't help, playing around with GTalk neither...
try clearing the davilk cache
This happened to me two times, the first time I rebooted and it worked, second time I turned on airplane mode then turned it off and was back in business.

Theres another thread about this same issue in the general Q&A, check this post out from that thread which suggests you remove your sd card and see if that works.
Nope, unmounting doesn't help.
I love the Streak's hardware but the OS is really cracking me up!! I miss my good ol' PalmOS...

"No external storage" error.

Every time I go into Settings/Storage/Cached data and hit it to clear it I start getting this "No external storage" error when I go to Camera or gallery. Takes a reboot to get rid if it. Android 4.2.1 stock.
Anyone else can reproduce this too?

No. Not plugged into anything. You cannot reproduce this?

Just tried it had about 250mb cache -> 1mb. Didn't get any pop up.

I just had this one a while ago. I had the phone charging from the power outlet. I unplugged it and after a while decided to try and take a picture. Launched the camera and got that message.
I then launched root explorer to see if it doesn't really see the external storage which wasn't the case as I was able to browse my files. A quick reboot cleared the error. I havent been able to replicate the issue so far.

I get this popup and upon clearing I consistently can get this error.

I believe its a bug of some sort for JB camera itself. I tried to clear cache again through settings. It the displays the same error. I launched task manager list and swiped the camera app out of the list. I relaunched camera and it ran fine. Better than rebooting the entire phone.
I use a third party app to clear my cache anyway and that doesn't seem to affect the camera.

If that was for me, then No. I have not changed anything to cache any different than what stock does. No changes. This is a bug it seems in JB. I flashed the Google images again to make sure it wasn't anything I had done.

Did you go to Storage, and clicked on 'Cached Data' to clear it? If that's what you did, then you will get this error next time you go to Gallery/Camera. If you want to clear cached data (and not see this error), remove the camera/Gallery apps from the 'Recent Apps' list BEFORE clearing cache.

It worked for me

Recent apps refers to the app switcher or the (by default) right-most button in the navigation bar (with the icon of two boxes).

Now that its awkward because if its onlt the FB app it should work by just clearing the apps cache but if you also did a full wipe and it still persists then I dont know mate sorry.

I solved it. I went to settings through the facebook app and I chose security and removed all active sessions and also removed all trusted devices and everything is back to normal once more.
N.B: All the profile pics are back but they don't sync with the address book contacts

Here come the force closes. Time to factory reset :(

Looks like even the almighty note 3 cannot escape the classic force close problems in the built in apps.
I have been experiencing force close in "action memo to web" and "link 2 contacts as 1" functions.
And by the way this is on pure stock, unrooted device.
Already tried clearing cache and data, to no avail.
I'm guessing the famous factory reset will have to be used to restore peace in the world.

have been using android for some years and ive been very lucky not having any problems with force closes either on stock or custom roms so far.
got my note 3 now and i have zero problems with anything crashing..
guess it might be some app for you making the system unstable? try uninstalling apps 1 by 1 and figure out if thats whats causing it!
If you cant find a solution you should probably do a factory reset and start from scratch!
Hope you get a crash free note 3 and happy x-max!

Thank you sir. Currently I cannot uninstall and re-install system apps such as Action Memo without rooting. Will try such tactics in the future when my warranty expires and the haxxing begins. Until then I shall just factory reset and restore like a peasant on a corn field.
Thanks for your input
Just do a Clear Cache of the FC apps should solve most of the problem.
There is no need to reset your phone in most cases.

Should be another app thats in conflict with your action memo.
