Sd card write errors - Galaxy S I9000 General

So I have been having trouble with apps not reading my sd card properly and resulting in errors. Eg ireader.
The problem wasn't the app but I think the sd card or my computer os.
When I copy the files to the card using windows 7. Frequently they don't appear when viewing the file system from the phone. Sometimes they appear for a while then disappear later.
Strangely, when I copy the files using a linux operating system, the files both appear normally and function as they should in apps.
The card is a 16gb class 4 sandisk.
Any ideas what could be the issue?
Seems its an os issue. So is there a setting in windows 7 that makes it copy files in the manner linux does?
Thanks

Evo sd card issue

Good morning,
I recently tried to upgrade to a kingston class 4 32gb card in my evo running cm7. I have tried everything to make it work. Under storage settings, it will read the card on boot up and I can see the files in file manager. If I try to input and remount it says unsupported file system. Sometimes in the camera it says failed to access sd card. Can anyone help?

did you format the card with your phone or pc(sometimes when you do it with pc you accidentally do a quickformat, which most of the times gives problems(format fat32))
I gave reformatted in the computer and in the phone and nothing works. I can add files on the computer but after some time in the phone I can't do anything related to the sd card.i also ram as chkdsk

I dont have such problems with my external sdcard.
All I can think of, is to try and format the sdcard on your PC as fat 32 (BTW what size is your sdcard?) and copy the file to the sdcard with the pc explorer, assume you are using windows as you are running kies.
This will test if the problem is the sdcard or something else, if the card formats with windows explorer the it should be OK.
Hope you get it to work.
ATB
Format the card to FAT 32 via the PC .

Can you mount the sd card on the galaxy?
If not, connect sd card directly to the computer (with card reader) and run cmd. Then use this command to fix the sd
Code:
chkdsk /F [Letter where SD Card is]:
So if my sd card would be on G:, I would write chkdsk /F G:
Ill have a bash at computer fat32 just got a couple of filns transfering ... Fingers crossed thanks for help so far

Yes. Just transfer the files via an SD Card reader.

Welcome aboard matey, Mine came with a 16gb sd card but I have a 32GB class 10 card in my Play.
Highly recommended, the faster speed seemed to have sped up my games also as they were getting a bit jittery when I had the stock 16gb class 4 sdcard in my phone.
If you have a Mac, you can try Carbon Copy Cloner, it's free and it's awesome for cloning an entire disk (or SD card, in this case) to another one. I used it when I got a new SD card for my Play
I also use it to backup my SD card to an image file on my computer every week. Yay!

Go into your SD through windows, select all, copy to a folder. Put in the new card, select all, copy the contents over. Done.
thanks guys...

Try Solid Explorer

SD Data..

N4's gonna be my first android device and I'm very excited to try out the new games on it!
As far as I understand, you can use Android Injector to copy APKs on your phone. But what about games that have SD data since N4 doesn't even have a SD card. Is there any alternative location on the phone itself (that I can access using root explorer or sth similar) where I can copy the SD data?
You can mount a virtual SD card via MTP on the Nexus 4, and simply copy over the game data as you would with any normal SD card (at least in Windows, other OSes get more complicated)
On android phones with internal memory it shows up as
/sdcard0 or /sdcard
So everything should be fine
