Nice feature in tabbed windows - HD2 General

Hi all,
I accidentally discovered this feature: if you are using an application that makes use of the tab control, you can swipe anywhere on the window to the left or right in order to change tab.

[APP] [31 Oct 08] StartBar Toggle v0.1

Hey Guys,
Finally, Im into windows mobile development & Im no big developer right now. Here's my first app to enable or disable Start Bar i.e. Top Bar. At first its of no use, But one example is to use it with S2U2, assign StartBarEnable.exe to run whenever the device is unlocked by editing S2U2 registry settings & it'll disable the Start Bar, Later you can enable it by running StartBarDisable.exe
Works good and does what you say, But its very unnessacery

i would NOT say it's unnecessary. this is perfect if youre making a theme that moves the top bar to the bottom, or just disable everything completely. great work.
This is great! Thanks! Now I can make my own top bar in ThrottleLauncher!
cool
nice idea... is there a way to hook that program to launch when I slide my keyboard out (t mobile wing), at the moment I use Vjay's toggletoday and everytime I open/close my keyboard the start menu reappears.
Thanks!
THANKs................
For a future rev...hide/unhide the start bar... Different than stopping it. Like on desktops, if you get your stylus near the top the start bar pops back up, but disappears again when there is no pressure on that part of the screen.
Great little app, but just one thing: on non-English devices it installs the shortcuts in the wrong Start Menu folder. "Windows\Start Menu", instead of the correct, locally named one.

Browser Quick Controls

Anyone else try out these slide-out browser quick controls?
I 'love' them. I turned them on a few days after getting the tab and havent looked back.
How about you?
To enable this feature for the stock browser go to settings - labs - quick controls and make sure the box it ticked. Now in the browser, slide in from the side and a wheel of sorts will pop out with all your controls.
Very slick feature.
I have been using them since day one. Love it.
Yes, they're handy once you get the hang of them.
Very nice, thanks for sharing that tip!

Where is this? Dont have an entry for "labs" under "settings"?
Settings in the browser, not general setting on the tablet. Top right corner in the browser.
I think it actually comes enabled by default on the Xoom; needless to say it was refreshing to see when I first started using the tablet. Using the menu in the upper right hand corner is not as user friendly.
The only thing I have noticed is that it is difficult to initiate controls with the acer case, because the edge comes right up to the screen. I usually have to attempt the gesture a couple of times in order for the controls to come up.

I've never had that problem. Simply slide your finger 'into' the screen, from the bezel. Works like a charm every time and I love how it appears at the exact position your finger made the sliding motion into the page, rather than a single static location.
If I had one feature request, it would be 1 more button you could use to hold it as a handle to slide the wheel up or down the side, and tap it to pin it or unpin it.
Heh - didn't even know this existed until I saw this thread. Not sure I like it though - I usually close the last tab to close the browser (since back makes you step through all pages viewed and home would leave it open.)

How do you close the browser with last tab? The tab disappears and browser turns full screen everytime specially when there's only one tab left. I find it hard to bring the tab to appear again.

funny I know... I open up a new blank one... close the last one and then hit the back button to close the whole thing out... he he... I woudn't mind if the tabs were up there all thetime or use a quick menu to pop it up and down...
You can actually just do a long press on the webpage and it will bring up the tabs at the top, then you can close them.

That's how I do it right now, but sometimes it selects the text for copy/paste instead of displaying the tab. You really have to find an empty spot on the browser page to make it work. Adding a new tab and closing, then closing the last tab requires a really fast finger to catch the last tab. Sometimes I'm slow to click on the last tab and it just hides again. How I wish the default browser has an option to exit, similar to Dolphin browser.
Why the desire to have an exit, to hide the porn your surfing?
Keeping the browser in memory is useful, because that is alot of what I use this thing for.

[Q] tabs in stock browser

Hi TF fans,
The question is what happened to the tabs in the stock browser? I have updated to 3.1 and I'm using the quick access buttons. but I can't see the tabs as they were before? At the top of the browser screen?
Where can I find help about the new layout and buttons from the quick access menu?
Any ideas,
rio
Yes you loose the tabs when choosing quick access.
IIRC it was the same way with 3.0.1

No, I've been using quick access since i got my TF on UK release day. Always had both visible tabs and QA.
Rio
Oh OK, it's been a while since I was on the older firmware so I don't remember.
Might nandroid back just to see.
You still have the ability to open new tabs with the quick access tab and now in the quick access tab you can scroll thru all the open tabs you have.
Cool option but takes a little getting used to work.

In the Browser, go to Settings, Labs, and enable Quick Controls. It lets you swipe your finger in from the bezel to access a "quick" menu.
I remember specifically the reason I didn't use the quick controls when I first got my TF (back on 3.0.1) was because it hid the tabs and URL bars. I have a US TF though, maybe that's where the difference lies!

It did hide the URL, but I'm certain the tabs were still there.

Yes I went back to the old firmware and the tabs are there but the
new 3.1 there are options to switch tabs, add tab, ect. in the Quick access.
Yeah to confirm, with quick controls on 3.0.1, if you had 2+ tabs you'd see the tab bar. However with just 1 page you'd see no tab bar until you opened a new tab. I too preferred the old way as you could see everything you had open...
I had the same "problem" (and actually posted here about it) until I got used to it. Now, I barely notice it as I am fairly proficient with the quick access side swipe.

how do you close a tab when using the quick controls? i can see & switch to which ever one I want, i believe i can even open a new one, but i don't see how to close one short of turning the quick controls off and closing the tab at the top.

[Q] Super Launcher remover ?

Hi All,
I have got this little application "Super Launcher" fixed at the bottom side without knowing where it comes from and it installed alone. It is represented as an arrow directed to th bottom too and when I click on it, a very small window opens at the center top side of the screen.
Anyway, I would say that I tried almost every thing I know to remove it but could not succeed.
I am calling you for help please.
Many thanks
It is a part of Super Manager and it is a question of settings only.
Cheers
If you're referring to: https://market.android.com/details?id=androidcap.superlauncher.lite
Why can't you uninstall it from the app drawer (unless there is no icon) - OR - from tablet settings under applications management?

[TUTORIAL] Enable hover icon in Jelly Beans update

Hey guys,
I did a quick search on the forum and no one had put this up and since many wanted to know where did the tiny s-pen hover icon go once they updated their Note 10.1 to jellybean, I decided to put this up.
To enable the hover icon,
1) Open Settings
2) Go to S-Pen
3) Enable Air-View and select the text to edit options
4) Enable the check-box for "Pointer"
Now you have to pointer visible whenever you bring the s-pen close to the screen, just like in ICS.
PS. the pointer icon is not as nice as the ICS one but I think i came across a thread to help you change it but you need to be ROOT for it.
PPS. I am running 4.1.1 for those who want to know.
Thanks buddy was driving me crazy lol

It works with all the applications. It just creates an icon whenever you bring the s-pen close to the screen. But once you press it on the screen, it will go away. They just made it as an "HOVER" icon
So yeah it will show the pointer until you press it on the screen. Miss the old hover one on ICS where it stays even after you press it on the screen
