Hey guys, using darkstone froyo, I'm at work and I've been using the xda app to search for the fix on mms. I think I remember somebody posting a thread on the apn settings the other day. I can't send an mms, it just says"Sending..." My apn setting just has the epc.tmobile.com but everything else is blank.
Speaking of xda app, I know this isn't the right place but, when you search for something using the app, and you select a search result, it takes you to the most recent post of that thread, not the post that met the search query. Kind of annoying.
Sent from my HD2 with froyo, using the XDA app.
Still doesn't work hell I tried about 4 different APN's on 3 different builds and mms still will not work

Quick question, every time I send a picture message to someone no matter what service provider all of them say that there its never a picture attached or
It says unsupported file type..and rarely actually sends them an actual picture I've tried it with the stock messaging app, handcent, go sms, and that seems to make no difference at all.
Thanks in advance.

And i haven't been receiving any mms messages either.

Possibly related I cannot send an MMS unless I am attached wi-fi. Need to call TMOB and complain. It 100% of the time says "unknown network problem"
Yeah, or when I get pictures finally they are smaller than a thumbnail.

You guys need to be a bit more specific: Are you stock or rooted, which rom.. etc etc etc
If you're stock - you need to make sure you're using T-mobile's APN, not simple mobile or telkila or whatever else is there. This can be found under menu ->settings->wireless networks ->mobile networks
If you're rooted on CM - you need to try changing you user string. In MMs app its under menu->settings->custom user-agent.
Good luck.
Stock, no ROM and yes rhee son is on tmo.

Call T-mobile, although they most likely will give you the standard response about doing factory reset, etc, etc
I am just not sure why would it do with correct settings on stock rom and I don't use sms/mms to run into it myself. May be someone else can shed a light?
What should the custom agent be though?
you need to fix your APN settings.
I'm running royalginger and boned up my settings the other day, here is how i fixed it..
Settings> Wireless & Networks > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names> (Menu->Reset to Default)
So i looked around for a bit on here for MMS problems, and i couldn't find anything. When i was running WinMO 6.5 i could send MMS just fine. My friend rooted my phone with Android, and now when i send MMS it just says sending...
and never sends the message. I sent something last night, and when i woke up it still said sending...
Is there a fix for this? i do have MMS service enabled though T-mobile, and i can receive picture messages just fine. I was using stock app for the messaging, but then i though, hmm, i saw one on the market. so i used Handcent and the same problem occurred. Help would be greatly appreciated
edit; now i asked a friend to send me an MMS, and it says downloading and never downloads either!
I also have the same problem. But if you wonna receive the pictures just turn your mobile data on and then go to mms and click download. It should work but this doesn't seem to work with sending the MMS.
Same here, just need to know that modules work together with the mms.apk
Check and see if the data is enabled. That may be a solution.
The thing is I don't have data so I have it off at aall times
Edit: just turned on data for the Lulz to see If it would work, nothin :/

you have to use the ones provided by your phone carrier, he is probably on a different network so the settings wont work

How did you cleared all caches? I just see factory reset, reboot and other potions but no clear caches ? And does factory reset remove all your installed apps?

Did you fix the issue? The link you gave doesn't have any solution.
Yeah theres no solution on that thread. I did do a search before posting, but xda was so cluttered, I didn't see that one, not that it helped anyways. Factory resets, clearing cache, flashing other roms, none of that works. I'm still wondering if it has something to do with having two apn's. I've never seen a separate apn for mms, I know it causes issues with data when sending mms. Maybe market is trying to switch to it, I just don't know.
Update. Clearing caches worked for a day but now mine is having issues avaim. 351 is very buggy for me

Just so you guys know I am having the same issue running 318.I also downgraded 351 was laggy for me.
I've already started a topic about this. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1034859 search harder next time.

Check out my post in that above posted link. I don't dare post it again for fear of the rath of The Jack of Clubs
Think I might have found the cause, just need to find the solution.
I'm having the same issue, started about 2 weeks ago. Last night i did a factory reset, fresh install of 351, then installed streakdroid 1.9.0 over that and still same thing :/
Open market and everything loads up fine. Tap on any app or my apps and you can see the data connection disappears. Get a pop warning "A network error has occurred. Retry or cancel and return to the previous screen". Wait a second or two and data connection is re-established, tap retry and it works. But this keeps happening every time i tap on something in the market.
So far its looking like an at&t issue.. anyone not on At&t and experiencing the same thing?
Did you have the issue right after you did a factory reset before the market updated?

I think i found a fix.
Under APN's there are 2, one for browsing and supl, and another for mms, while going through the options for them, there is a field for MMSC and MMS proxy. So i just copied those over from the ATT MMS apn to the ATT US apn, and then deleted the ATT MMS apn and issue is now gone.
Here is a guide:
Go to Settings -> Wireless & Network Settings -> Mobile Networks -> Access Point Names
Open up ATT US, then tap on MMSC and type in http://mmsc.cingular.com, tap ok
Under that, tap on MMS proxy and type in 66.209.11.32, tap OK
Then scroll down to the last item APN type, and check mms (default, and supl should already be checked).
Tap ok, then press the back button.
tap on ATT MMS, scroll down to MMSC and MMS proxy and verify that they are the same that you just entered (just as a double check, don't know if at&t is using different proxies or servers for different regions).
If they're the same then press the menu button and tap on delete apn.
Now you have one apn ATT US that handles Data and mms together. Once you press back or home, your data might cut off for a second, but once it reconnects you should be good.
I've been browsing through market for the past 5 min with no data connection drops. Also sent myself an MMS and it went through, and data on browser and twitter working well. So far its looking good.
Ill give it a try. Other phones have been having the same issues. I checked in other forums.

yeah i've been searching this topic for about the past week and everything i found on it was old, nothing recent within the past 3 months and no one had a solution.
also after the factory reset, and before market updated, i was on wifi since it was downloading a lot of apps so wouldn't have noticed it was doing it before. But you could go into the app settings and uninstall updates if you want to test that out.
Not really cause once its updated something gets changed. Still happens after uninstalling the updates.

Does anyone else have this issue? I can send/receive MMS with the stock messaging application, but if I use any 3rd party it doesn't work. I thought it had something to do with the APN, but none of the ones I tried worked. Is there anyone who had this issue but figured out how to fix it?
bump.
can't get mms to work with Textra. works fine with stock.

figured it out, you have to manually enter the APN in the app. it auto configs as cingular instead of att
What APN worked for you? I tired all the presets with no success.

The funny thing is, is that MMS worked perfectly fine not too long ago. I assume it auto-configured APN settings the same it did then compared to now. Yet MMS will not work anymore.
I have switched to an AOSP based rom though. The thing is I can send MMS through Hangouts and Stock messaging still.
No matter what Program I use I can;t Send MMS with 3rd party texting apps. Stock App works fine, I even tried to has the APn for mms in Chomp and Go sms pro, and I had Tmobile checked in Chomp.. Stock app works fine
any work around?

Yes you need to create a new apn. Mine and my gf was same but I made new apn and it working flawlessly. Make new apn similar to stock except put nothing in apn type field. Stock one has default, mms,* the one you make should be blank. I also changed name to T-Mobile US LTE. I just realized I could have take screen shot and avoided this sigh.

I was having the same problem with Chomp. Used your APN fix and seems only to work as long as I keep chomp from allowing message sizes to be no more than 300K. Usually it cuts down the resolution to something like 120k and the resolution just isn't so great still. Any time a message was sent larger than 300k it would send out, but upon recieving it I would get an error.
Other folks experiencing the same ?
This is what I had to do for GoSMS. I don't see issues with image resolution as big MMS is sent via their own service and MMS under 300Mb is sent via the network.
The solution is actually to change the APN Protocols to IPv4/IPv6. Everything else can be the same.
