Quick question, every time I send a picture message to someone no matter what service provider all of them say that there its never a picture attached or
It says unsupported file type..and rarely actually sends them an actual picture I've tried it with the stock messaging app, handcent, go sms, and that seems to make no difference at all.
Thanks in advance.

Possibly related I cannot send an MMS unless I am attached wi-fi. Need to call TMOB and complain. It 100% of the time says "unknown network problem"
Yeah, or when I get pictures finally they are smaller than a thumbnail.

You guys need to be a bit more specific: Are you stock or rooted, which rom.. etc etc etc
If you're stock - you need to make sure you're using T-mobile's APN, not simple mobile or telkila or whatever else is there. This can be found under menu ->settings->wireless networks ->mobile networks
If you're rooted on CM - you need to try changing you user string. In MMs app its under menu->settings->custom user-agent.
Good luck.
Stock, no ROM and yes rhee son is on tmo.

Call T-mobile, although they most likely will give you the standard response about doing factory reset, etc, etc
I am just not sure why would it do with correct settings on stock rom and I don't use sms/mms to run into it myself. May be someone else can shed a light?
What should the custom agent be though?
you need to fix your APN settings.
I'm running royalginger and boned up my settings the other day, here is how i fixed it..
Settings> Wireless & Networks > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names> (Menu->Reset to Default)

Whenever someone sends me a pic by mms it fails to download it.. it says "generic network fail" or something like that .. if I install a new Rom would this fix the problem or install a new kernel?

is your 3g on?
and are you already rooted and running a rom and if so which one?
if this just started then you need to call tech support as its not anything you or the phone is doing, it sounds more like sprint having issues.
I get this problem when Wifi is on.
I just disable Wifi really quick and the picture downloads.
Switch from the stock messaging app to Handcent or ChompSMS...
Thanks let me see if those work.. I'm using virus Rom

I've notcied that I need to turn off wifi sometimes for the mms to download, anyone know why that is?

IDK but it seems to work for me too....
So I got a Samsung Vibrant and unlocked it to work with AT&T. Data works great (as great as you can get on EDGE) but MMS is another story. I can't seem to send MMS. Any ideas on what I can do?
I use google voice as well, but that doesn't support MMS. I was hoping to send a few messages through the standard texting client on the phone, even though it would charge me per text.
You have to change the SMS/MMS settings to work with AT&T servers. Google it for the right settings.
Just had this problem, the message central phone number for att 321-314-9810 need to be set via settings in messages or you will receive fail to send. Look for reset to default and add numbet.

Weird I got the settings automatically after maybe a few hours of use

Switching from tmo to att I lost this setting and couldn't send any text mesages. Mms setting were fine with the exception of that phone #.

Are you sure that number is correct? The one in my phone is very similar; it's:
+1 312 314 9810
I've googled APN settings and I haven't found anywhere that gets MMS to work properly.
Any other ideas?
Go ino messaging, then settings, then left most soft key and then set phone number. Your phone number is correct.

So i looked around for a bit on here for MMS problems, and i couldn't find anything. When i was running WinMO 6.5 i could send MMS just fine. My friend rooted my phone with Android, and now when i send MMS it just says sending...
and never sends the message. I sent something last night, and when i woke up it still said sending...
Is there a fix for this? i do have MMS service enabled though T-mobile, and i can receive picture messages just fine. I was using stock app for the messaging, but then i though, hmm, i saw one on the market. so i used Handcent and the same problem occurred. Help would be greatly appreciated
edit; now i asked a friend to send me an MMS, and it says downloading and never downloads either!
I also have the same problem. But if you wonna receive the pictures just turn your mobile data on and then go to mms and click download. It should work but this doesn't seem to work with sending the MMS.
Same here, just need to know that modules work together with the mms.apk
Check and see if the data is enabled. That may be a solution.
The thing is I don't have data so I have it off at aall times
Edit: just turned on data for the Lulz to see If it would work, nothin :/

you have to use the ones provided by your phone carrier, he is probably on a different network so the settings wont work

Hey XDA!,
I am currently running the typhoon 2.3.7 rom. I have tried almost EVERY rom there is but this problem still persists.
The texts i send out dont get delivered sometimes. Sometimes they get delivered after 4 or 5 hours. I recieve texts late too sometimes. Is this a radio problem? I have radio 2.15.50 installed.
Or maybe is there a problem with my network provider?
Thanks,
Adil
Do you have the right apn settings?

Go to settings > Mobile networks > Access Point Names. Most of the time these are auto-detected correctly but occasionally they're wrong. All you have to do is contact your carrier and request the apn settings (there's also a 'sim toolkit' app in CM7 and CM9 but it hasn't worked for me, I just get a message from o2 saying that they were unable to send me the settings).

Ok I have done that. The operator of Mobilink told me that APN settings are required for MMS and mobile internet only. He sent me the mesage center number. What do i do with it?
Your messaging app could be closing due to low memory try locking app in memory via cyanogenmod settings>performance>lock msging app. See if that works.

Yes you need to create a new apn. Mine and my gf was same but I made new apn and it working flawlessly. Make new apn similar to stock except put nothing in apn type field. Stock one has default, mms,* the one you make should be blank. I also changed name to T-Mobile US LTE. I just realized I could have take screen shot and avoided this sigh.

I was having the same problem with Chomp. Used your APN fix and seems only to work as long as I keep chomp from allowing message sizes to be no more than 300K. Usually it cuts down the resolution to something like 120k and the resolution just isn't so great still. Any time a message was sent larger than 300k it would send out, but upon recieving it I would get an error.
Other folks experiencing the same ?
This is what I had to do for GoSMS. I don't see issues with image resolution as big MMS is sent via their own service and MMS under 300Mb is sent via the network.
The solution is actually to change the APN Protocols to IPv4/IPv6. Everything else can be the same.
