Can't clear new voicemail notification - myTouch 3G, Magic General

So I bought a mytouch3G off craigslist and the previous owner had a new voicemail notification that I can't seem to clear or get rid of. I tried calling the voicemail number and just listening to it but he has a password and I can't get a hold of him. Is there any way I can manually delete the notification? It won't clear like it does for new messages/emails/new app installs, etc.
I apologize if this has been answered before. Thanks.

nvm...... .....

edit: nvm...

So, did you figure it out?

New Voicemail - but i have no new voicemail

Hey guys,
This is a problem that coincedently happend on my Trinity.
I have the Voicemail symbol appearing on my phone, and my mailla home screen says that I have a 1 New Voicemail message. But when i dial 123 (im on orange), i'm told I have no message, no saved messages, nothing.
If I power off the phong and then turn it back on, the first thing i hear is my sound aleart to notify me I have a new voicemail message.
Whats wrong with this. How can I reset this or stop this from happening.
Thanks,
WizzKidd
I have similar issue, except everytime I have a new voice mail message, the notification tells me that I have 8, but I actually have 1 voice mail only. This happen every time, even I already delete all my new & save voice mail.
Have you tried looking at your email inbox. open all account '+' and check for VOICEMAIL messages.
I have a VOICEMAIL folder listed under my email account.

Voicemails inside my inbox?
I also have a new voicemail notification every time I soft reset, I can only get rid of it by doing a registry edit, and it still comes back after a soft reset, this is on a stock ROM, unbranded straight from HTC, even after a hard. I am using a Fido SIM card (Canada).
Any help would be appreciated.
Might be a problem with Orange as this only started today, yesterday was fine for me.
Regards
Cleared my issue by leaving a message on my voicemail, listening and then deleting it. Has cleared it now

Didn't work for me, I read somewhere that it may have to do with having voicemails on my account the first time I inserted the SIM card?
My partner has this on her Nokia that the phone shows a new voice mail even though there is nothing on the answer phone. We haven't looked into it yet but i bet its a problem at Orange that your sim is telling your phone there's a new voice mail available. I suggest you all ring orange and take it up with them, post back and let us know what you find out.
right people. easiest way to resovle this problem is to put your simcard in a different phone. turn the phone on. once the simcard is in the other phone leave a voicemail message. once your phone says new voicemail, listen to it and delete it. then pop ur simcard back in the HTC TOUCH HD. Problem Sorted....

Thank this solved the problem, I guess you should make sure to hear your voicemail new messages before flashing roms

[BUG] Ghost Message Waiting Indicator in AOSP 2.1 / 2.0.1

This is the only thing that has stopped me from making the switch to one of Darchstar's new ROMs. I was very hesitant to make a thread about this but I've received PMs from other people experiencing the same issue. Here's hoping we can get this figured out.
Whenever I install a 2.1 or 2.0.1 ROM I get a notification telling me that I have a voicemail waiting. I click the notification and it automatically dials *86.
"Thanks for calling Helio by Virgin Mobile. Please enter your mobile number beginning with your area code." That's definitely not right.
I call my Sprint Voicemail box and I have no messages. I call myself and leave a message and then delete it. Nothing.
I go into "Call Settings" and change my voicemail number and the notification remains.
I registered with Google Voice. The notification stayed. I left a Google Voice voicemail and deleted it... no change.
I RUU'd, re-rooted and flashed darchstar's ROM. Mockingly, the notification appeared immediately.
I installed Flip's 2.1 Sense ROM and the Indicator showed up immediately, but I was able to clear it in the Settings menu. (Settings > Call Settings > Clear Voicemail Notification) -- This option isn't available in the AOSP ROMs. I've tried to push the settings APK from Flip's ROM, but of course the settings program does nothing but forceclose on AOSP.
I'd just switch to Flip's ROM and manually remove Sense, but AFAIK there is no fix for the Market in that ROM as of yet.
I've also called Sprint regarding the issue. I hoped that a simple reset of my voicemail box would resolve the issue. No dice. I did, however, confuse the heck out of a Tech Support representative at least.
I am not nearly as experienced with Android Development as I'd like to be, but I am trying to learn. I've poked through the SDK documentation and it seems like I might be able to completely disable that notification if I knew what I was doing a little better. This would be fine being that I've fully switched my voicemail box to Google Voice.
I have managed to get the notification to go away for a period of time. If I wipe, flash, wipe, flash enough I'll boot and the notification won't be there. Each and every single time it comes back eventually. I got it to go away for approx 7 hours about a week ago. I was so pissed when it came back...
The closest thing to a solution that I've came across is going into framework-res and removing the PNG for the voicemail notification. At least, I don't have to stare at that icon all day long that way.
Does anyone have any ideas that I haven't covered above?
You know Im right there with you. I have tried just about everything you outlined and I still couldnt get it to go away more than a few hours. Fresh 2.1 did slightly help the situation by being able to clear it but as soon as I restarted, there it was again.
Just out of curiosity Illogic, have you tried a new Micro SD card?

That I have not. I would be very surprised if that fixed it, but I suppose it is worth looking at at this point.

I have been waiting on a 8gb class 6 for 2 and a half weeks. I was gonna test when it came in. I have partitioned many times but I wonder if it is possible something is just stuck on it and its causing this issue. I dont know, maybe im just on my last ideas about it.
I have a feeling that it has something to do with the fact that we are missing visual voicemail on these unofficial builds.
When we receive a Sprint Voicemail on a ROM without VVM we get a SMS message that would normally be filtered out by the VVM app. When you clear your voicemail box you get a SMS that looks like it's meant to turn the message waiting indicator off, but the phone doesn't recognize it.
Been pulling my hair out over this for too long.

The only thing is that we seem to be the ONLY two with the problem. Everyone else doesnt have VVM and they dont have that icon everytime.

I'm guessing that'd be me. Thanks for referring me to this thread.
well i'm decompiling the settings.apk from both Sense 2.1 and AOSP 2.1 to compare them hopefully I can get the "clear voicemail notification" setting working in AOSP 2.1
Nah I got the same thing. Just choose to wait it out I guess.

Cool, so does that fix your issue? if so, mind giving it to me so i can update my rom with these settings for my next update? Thanks
I've opened up the settings apk with WinRAR and none of the files inside are plain text. Just compiled gobbledegook.
The settings apks are open sourced, right? Hmmmm.....
Doesn't solve the problem, but you could switch your voicemail over to Google Voice.

He mentioned that he had in the first post. It was also stated that there is no way to remove the icon. If he is like me, the icon is annoying.
No, he mentioned he tried giving himself a voicemail in his Google Voice number. I mean switching from Sprint Voicemail over to Google Voicemail. That's what I did and I solved this problem.

I have forwarded my phone to Google Voice's voicemail service and the icon remained. Did you forward it to Google and resolve the issue? That's what I meant when I said that I "registered" with Google Voice. Sorry... that wasn't real clear.

Illogic, I did it on Freshs 2.1 and it worked because Freshes has the clear voice mail option in settings. Not to mention, for some reason Freshs also integrated GV into the voice mail settings. It was actually pretty cool.
What I did was change the Voicemail setting in AOSP 2.1 to Google Voicemail. I just left it at that (didn't change it back to Sprint) because I like GV better. But I don't get the ghost notification with my voicemail handled by GV.

Yeah, I noticed your posts in the ROM thread regarding that. Just if we could, somehow, get that ported to the AOSP ROMs we'd be golden.

TMO US: Haunting empty SMS message from number 129

Hi!
I noticed a weird thing on my HD2.
There is an empty SMS message from 129 number that shows up in the inbox. After deleting it, it keeps coming back after a relatively short period of time. I DO NOT get any notifications about new SMS messages, so it's likely that this is some sort of phantom message.
I have disabled HTC messaging app and disabled the HTC messaging service (so that new SMS notifications contain "Save as read" and "Dismiss" options) and installed "SMS patch" application (from one of the other threads here) so fix the SMS counter.
Anyone has same issue?
The mothership is coming for you....
Honestly though dont have a clue
Yeah, I get that too. I even replied to the text but, never got a response.
yup, ,mine to... can't delete it without it coming right back. Really strange
lol i thought it was only me
It has to do with visual voicemail.
I enabled it and began getting these. I then disabled them and I don't get them anymore
I noticed it a couple of times, but I've deleted it and it hasn't come back.
My visual voicemail is enabled and is working.
Looks like the mystery is solved. Thanks skylinepigeon.
I removed Visual Voicemail service from my T-Mobile account (as I don't really use it anyways), and this phantom message is not coming back anymore.
I got these everyday, when turn on the phone after it's fully charged. I been getting these before I got have Visual Voicemail service on my account.
Sorry to say it's not Visual Voicemail, i just switched over to the HD2 from a Mytouch didnt have VV on mytouch but I did get a 129 message also. I delated the google sync calander on my laptop thinking that was it and I have not gotten a 129 message yet

Have you tried calling TMobile and asking thm to remove VVM from your account? Just because your previous phone didn't have VVM doesn't mean a SMS wasn't being sent out.
Also check http://forums.t-mobile.com/t5/T-Mobile-Touch-Pro2/message-from-129/td-p/171226 for some possible solutions.
I get this even after ditching VVM. It has to do with voicemail though. It only shows up for me if someone leaves me a voicemail or if I have any saved. What I do to get rid of it is open it up, transfer it from the sim to the phone, then delete it. And delete the voicemail(s), of course. I've called T-Mo numerous times about this too, they're aware of it & they claim they're working on it. Which I believe, because I used to not be able to delete it at all & now I can.
Me too!

I signed up for Micorsoft MyPhone syncronization, I wonder if it has something to do with syncing up the phone?
I'm getting these empty SMS from 129 every time my phone (Verizon LG G2 VS980) boots up. Does anyone know how to make it stop? I noticed that when I delete voice mails, I get these empty SMS from 129 as well. So I am convinced that they have something to do with voicemail. It seems that T-Mobile think that my phone needs these SMS but my phone does not and ended up showing these SMS to me. This only happens when I am running a custom ROM.

SWAG=ON and voicemail problem

Since I installed the SOS ROM I no longer get a message when I have a new voicemail. I see a missed call notification and if I dial in to my phone number it will tell me I have voicemails. Does anyone know of a fix for this?
Thanks
You still use the stock voicemail? Lol jk. I'ma look into this, but it should be working. Give me a few days. I'll try to be quick though, I realize that not getting VMs blows

Voicemail notification won't go away

I've had my MXPE for about a week now, and ever since I've activated it, I've had a constant voicemail notification that won't go away, and re-notifies me every couple hours. I'm on Sprint, and I've already contacted their customer support, they had me reprogram the phone, then do a factory reset and the notification was still there. So they told me to contact Motorola for support saying it must be a software issue, but Motorola said it wouldn't be software it would be with Sprint. I've waited a few days, but it's still there and I've missed important messages because I didn't know I was being left voicemail. Is there any fix for this, or should I just return the phone? I haven't seen anyone else complain about it, so I'm thinking it might just be my particular phone does have buggy software.
Edit: I've tried both leaving myself a message and clearing my phone app cache, that makes it go away for about an hour and then it comes right back.
Have you tried just deleting the 1 voice mail that is giving you problems? Maybe it is hung up in the system somehow.

I have no messages in my voicemail, and Sprint reset my services so I had to completely set the system up again.
That happened to me and it was a result I believe of Google Voice. I eventually had to sign up for visual voicemail through AT&T, log on, and the message was there. I had to delete it from visual voicemail and it deleted from my phone.

Was having the same issue too, on AT&T. I saw it right when I was transitioning from my backup S5 and then ignored it because it said it was coming from my Google Voice account. Kept getting stupid VM notifications for as long as I've had this phone and just came across this post. Never thought to check my AT&T voicemail, which is where their "welcome" voicemail was stored, no other messages, and deleted that sucker. Hopefully no more VM notifications pop up!
