Erm for backup there's mybackup n titanium backup, pretty much similar but ud have to see what best suits your backing up needs. titanium backup is also useful for saving app data such as the settings so saves fiddling about and mybackup allows you to also save contacts, msgz n so forth!
Advance notice - backing up stock apps with titanium backup is useless cause it doesn't show a restore option for it..
Google stuff I tend to avoid cause usually some sort of link to market o suma
No Mediascape would prevent you setting wallpapers except stock ones I think.. but I'm alright cause I just use third party apps!! I think some people have mentioned something about attaching mms errors. upto you tho
No Timescape would result in errors when trying to open up contact details.. some people use other apps such as acontacts or takephone (i fink thats what its called) to make up for it!
I've removed the standard email app cuz I don't use it (not the google 1)
I did take messaging off once to replace with chompsms but suma started to go wrong, delays, missing msgz! so avoided that!
Ive uninstalled the alarm clock n used kaloer clock although used to get the odd few errors here and there.. minor!
you can get rid of the keyboards if you only want to use the one.. id suggest swype! so easy messaging.. god knows what I'd do without it!!
Im sure there's a thread with better info on what's safe to uninstall.. just need to search.
ok I think I should stop for now lolz.. already an essay!! jus saw no replies so jus saying whatever came to mind..
hope its of any use.. if you need any info, jus drop me a PM n il try help ya if I can!!

Try using wavesecure for locking your phone in case it's stolen. I think it tells you where the phone is and stuff too. And it locks the phone as soon as someone trys changing the sim. Give it a shot.. i liked it.

It'll ask you for a password. So you can enter that and you'll be in.
I'm now using the SlideIT keyboard - where you slide your finger through all the letters of the word you want to type and it works it out for you and pop's it right in there... it's so very cool to use.. makes me smile everytime I use it.! I can type quicker than I ever did now.
and Hendcent for text messages - it's much more natural to use than the standard.
I have an Xperia X10 that I rooted as soon as the root was available and it worked great unfortunately I had an app that was causing me some issues and I thought id factory reset the phone.
The only apps I have are now:
Phone book
Browser
Dialler
Alarm clock
Calc
Calendar
Camera
email
Gmail
Google talk
Maps
Market
Messaging
Settings
SIM tools
Youtube
This would not be a major problem but I also dont have the Keyboard app so im unable to enter any settings make any changes etc.
Please help, ive pretty much bricked the damn thing
Does anyone have any ideas or somewhere I can download the original FW I can flash from the Micro SD card?
Any help would be greatly appreciated
Thread moved in XPERIA X10 General.
btw, the best way to solve your problem is to take a simply reset, this will solve all your trouble.

Apparently mods are not the only ones who don't read posts around here.
To the OP, try using the flashtool to throw another firmware onto the phone, since a reset didn't work?
Or just install a keyboard through adb...
Just use the usb cable to transfer a keyboard app across and then a file manager to instal it.. happen to me once.. ul b fine ;-)
btw I see u mentioned no timescape.. when u go into phonebook can ya view contacts or do you get an error?!
Ps - just my tip.. upto you if you wana try it.. but seen as I use chompsms, dolphin browser, and kaloer clock.. I got rid of the alarm clock, browser and messaging!! lol got rid of email cause don't use it really, left gmail though cause there always seems to be something linked with google stuff and messes up when ya get rid of it

hey guys
here is mine prob(s)
i tried to update my phone today even tho SE updater said i had the latest software,
After all that no update... so im still on 16, so i had to reinstall al my settings manuelly, even tho i backed it all up it never kept wot i wanted, any way after putting wot i had back on come to copy my contacts over and the prob im having is it keeps duplicating all my contacts 2 or 3 times and i cant work out why its doing it, and also to top it off its gone so slow and laggy its unreal, had no probs with it before,
the only apps i hav is
atk
adw launcher
and all my timescape accounts set up,
please can anyone help with this annoying problem
many thanks for any help
Aaron
I'm guessin the duplicates are showing due to auto sync, maybe also another backup copy on your sd card or se sync?
go to settings, data synchronisation, click google (if its greyed out then choose select sync app n pick google), then untick auto sync, u can leave background data as that's used for market)
Perhaps delete all ya contacts after n maybe restore a copy of them from your sd card (if u hav a copy stored there)
Hope it helpz!!
P.s - maybe before trying to install everything back you should try the repair function of seus/pc companion, as many people have reported to gettin the latest firmware from it somehow!!

Well I'm not sure what you're using to back up your contacts, but some apps will restore your contacts and if you happen to restore again, the contacts will duplicate. Another case would be that you've backed up your contacts, then restored them, and you happen to have a google account set up on your phone. Google sync will upload your contacts and therefore causing you to have duplicates, or even triplicates in your case.
What I would suggest is go to your gmail account (if you don't have one, then I suggest you do because it's awesome), then click contacts and organize your contacts there. There is an option for you to merge duplicates or triplicates on that page. ***This is on your computer browser, not on your x10***
Next time you format your phone, simply enter your gmail info on your x10 and your contacts will sync automatically.
In regards to the speed, I suggest doing a clean wipe and seriously consider rooting your phone. Depending on your social needs with the phone, you may need your phone to run at a higher speed and you can tweak that on a rooted phone.
hey guys cheers for the replys,
I had a look into wot you both suggested, i was sync-ing to SE so i switched it to google and seems to hav done the trick, phone seems to picked up its pace a bit now ( think maybe cos off the whole duplicating contacts ) i hav considered rooting but little nervous off doing it,
cheers guys for the help and advise, hav u got and tips, advise on rooting, how easy/hard is it to do, yes im bit off a nebie to all this kinda thing

Honestly, the first time I did root... it took me 8 hours lol, and I didn't even do it correctly. Now I've rooted the phone about 5 times now and i think it is very simple now. There are many tutorials in the developers thread that you could follow. Don't be afraid of trying new things, sometimes you have to take risks.
I really do suggest rooting though.
i really am coming round to the idea off rooting, im fairly confidant on the computer, jus more concered but and damage on the phone as i cost me as it wasnt a contract upgrade, so not worried about warranty jus dont wanna bugger the phone up
To be honest I've done it loadsa times.. I've found it easy since more or less beginning. to be honest the first ever time I thought I messed my phone but always was a work around. you shouldnt really have a problem cause you can keep flashing til you get it right.. but its all upto you!! I much prefer my phone rooted, more things to do, better backup apps, and I don't have to see none of that Se crap lol

Hi guys,
I've read the answer to this somewhere on the MT4G thread here but can't find it anymore for some reason.
I've rooted with the S off and all that good stuff and I do remember someone saying Titanium Backup would be a good way to remove all the T-Mobile stuff but....
1-I don't remember what is safe to remove
2-How exactly can I remove the stuff with Titanium Backup?
I'd appreciate if someone can direct me to the right thread or just help me out.
P.S: On a separate question, when I try to write someone's name on Handcent SMS into the TO part, contacts are showing in doubles. One without a dash between the numbers and one with a dash between the numbers in the format of 555-444-3333(the american way) It also happens on an app I use called Fast Dialer. I checked my contacts/view and I only have one selected which is PHONE.
Thanks again.

Not sure what you want to know that's not described in these 4 threads already.
thanks mate.
I know this might sound stupid but I get this screen below on the backup/restore section of TB and I can't seem to figure out how to freeze apps through this section.

click on "problems?" and it'll download the busy box, titanium backup will restart and you'll see the apps installed.
great. thanks a million. they are all in there now.
I used Root Explorer. I just selected the apps I wanted out, cut them and made a folder in my SD card. I pasted them there just in case I need to put them back. As soon as I did that, they were gone from my app drawer.
"Freeze" them in Titanium. It will remove them from your drawer listing but keeps all files on the phone in the event they are needed for future upgrades. You'll forget they ever existed; and you can "unfreeze" them later to put them back in the app drawer if you ever want to use them again.

or... MAKE A NANDRID... then uninstall them and free up the space on your phone... you can make backups first and restore them in the future if necessary or you can skip the backup crap and use the nandroid to restore in the future...
thanks for all the responses guys.
So I have DL09 across the board (kernal, blackhole rom, radio), and im thinking about making the switch to eb01, but I dont want to go through the hastle of reinstalling everything and setting up my phone the way I like it. Is there any way to do the upgrade without losing everything?
Also, is the gps realllllllly fixed this time? I thought dl09 and the 05 were supposed to fix it but neither worked for me.
Any help would be useful. I dont need lengthy explanations if you are busy, just more of a steer in the right direction. I used to read this and the dev forum religiously but ive fallen behind I feel like I dont know where to start.
Thanks in advance everyone!

Well.. you can use titanium backup to back up most of your stuff. For icon placements and stuff it depends on your launcher although mybackups never restored after wiping and then installing eb01 so who knows
Most third party launchers have a home screen backup capability... And Titanium Backup is the way to go for backing up your apps and their data. The paid version makes it even easier, allowing for batch restores without having to manually reinstall each app. Also, link all your contacts to gmail, and they will all be restored once you get setup again.
Following these easy steps will allow you to get your phone set back up in just a few minutes after flashing a new ROM
HAAA! u guyz make mw laugh! More like an hr. kayy.
