PSX4Droid/Louder Volume Hack - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

I have 2 issues and would like some feedback/help on
- I just got psx4droid for both my girlfriend, and my phone. Shes using the Samsung Vibrant, and I of course have my HD2 with android running the Desire v5 build. It runs a hell of a lot smoother on her vibrant, and i understand it will be limited on my phone but was wondering if i went from a class 2 to a class 6 sd card; would that help make the game run a lot smoother?
-I also got the Louder Volume hack and the rooted rootfs file that corresponds to the desire v5 build. When i select the different volume settings with LVH i don't notice any difference. Is there somthing else i'm supposed to do in some other settings?

louder volume hack? where did you get it? thanks

I second that! Where did you find such a thing?
Reading these forums since everything started and I keep seeing things like these, volume hack, rooted filesystems and can't help but wonder where do you all find this stuff?

A class 6 card will make a BIG difference over a class 2 card. I went from the stock 16gb class 2 card to a 4gb class 6 card and the difference was night/day. As for the volume, idk.

i believe the audiohack will not work with nexus1/desire because n1/desire does not use AudioPara4.csv file. You can try modifying that file and nothing changes (i tried it lol). also, some of the builds don;t even have it. i think the mic gain/volume can be changed through kernel, pls correct me if i'm wrong.
if you are able to get audiopara4.csv to modify your audio please let us know.

ohhh......alright, thanx for your help

Would A class 6 microSD card speed up HTC sense ROM's on a Magic 32b?

I love the HTC sense UI but sadly have a HTC magic 32b, i have tried most of the sense ROMS for my phone be it a hero port or a magic port, but not one seems to work to well, most of the time it lags and there are alot of force closes etc.
I was using a 125mb swap on my phone and tried everything to get it to run better but they still didnt run great.
However i found on one ROMs post that you need a class 6 SD card, so i looked at mine and mines a class 4 .
So my question is would by getting a class 6 SD card would it speed up the sense ROMs to the point where i could use them on a day to day bases or will they just always be lagy on my phone?

It does but not where you will notice it from a class 4 to a class 6!! I use the stock ****ty class 2, lol... I don't have force closes, don't have that much lag, i don't know what you didn't do right but you don't get force closes from having a weak sdcard/Linux swap. did you flash a SPL?

Ok just checked and i have hard spl 1.33.0004 and radio 2.22.19.26I should i change?
no that one is alright I see some using it I prefer the 1.33.2005 but I dont know which is better... but the class 6 card doesnt make things incredibely faster... it might be the rom you are using I would suggest possibly a hero_over or the ccyrowski build
really new to this

Leo cant playback a 2 mintue clip -_-

I did some recording, of nothing in particular, just around the house and after I finished I went to play it, and after about 5 minutes I assume it must of frozen or something as it was still on that loading screen...
Another faiure by htc -_- , has anyone had the same problems and/or found solutions?
Thanks
My HD2 has no problems as you're describing, so your post title is completely misleading.
However, have you tweaked the recording settings? Are you storing the footage on your Micro SD? What speed is it?
We need more info to try to help you

Yeah I am saving it to memory card, but Im not sure what speed it is, theres a 2 with a circle round it, does that help?
thanks for the response
That's means it's a class 2 card, which is slow, trying changing where it stores to say like the internal memory and see if the problem persists. If it doesn't, then buy yourself a class 4 or 6 micro SD card.

I just made a video of 4:45 and it played back instantly. Took about a second on the loading screen.
Do us a favour - stop finding faults and then posting them and instantly claiming a fail on the part of HTC. You need to investigate issues a little more before start complaining. How about starting with the attitude that there may be something wrong, rather than the attitude that there is something wrong.
I am using a 16GB Class 2 SanDisk card, and saving vid directly to the card, so unless your card is faulty, I can't see it being that.
As johncmolyneux stated it's probably just your sd card is screwed, you could try just reformatting and see if that helps. If you decide to buy a new SD card, they will clearly state their speed, whether it be class 2, 4 or 6. Obviously the faster you go the more you'll pay.

Yeah maybe I'll try formatting, if not I guess I'll have to return it
I have tried formatting it, yet t still cant seem to play even 13 seconds worth of video. I switched the save locations to the device, still nothing.
I do however have a hunch, there is 1 video that I recorded that I can play on there, and its one I took the night I got the phone, before switching my settings and installing extra modes from damien123_666, so maybe the settings are too high quality and the phone is strugging with them? Maybe when I update the rom it will be more able to cope with higher quality videos
thoughts?

If you can bear it without too much hassle, do a hard reset and see if the problem persists. It sounds like you could be on the right track, but I'm sure there's a lot of people who have done the camera tweaks. Maybe ask in the thread in question to see if anyone has noticed this problem.

Wake Delay when using Android

Has anyone found an actual solution to completely get rid of the wake delay issue? What I mean by wake delay is when you try to wake your phone from sleep and the key pad lights come on but the screen stays black for a few seconds sometimes longer.
Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA App
What type and class card are you using? Seems to be related to card. I have 3 cards. 16gb class 2 Sandisk = no wake delay on any build. 8gb Lexar class 6 and other 4gb class 6 = 3-5 second wake delay on all builds except darkstone's Super_Ram build.
I'm using the stock 16gb class 2 SD card that came with phone. I've alreAdy formatted the card and I'm using ozdroid Windows Rom but I still get the wake delays...So with your 16gb class 2 card you get
Zero delays ? Maybe I should buy a different card.
Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA App
Try reformatting with 32kb clusters.
This is a known software issue and is present in every single Android build on here. The devs all know about it and it's something that needs to be fixed.
Actually, I take that back. I'm using Ginger HD2 at the minute and it's a LOT better.
Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA App
Well its random. It will work fine for a while then I start having long delays. It's good to know that its a known issue and the devs are working on it because its the only real issue that's keeping android from being stable. It sucks when you want to show someone something on your phone and it won't even wake up.
Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA App
Seriously, if you can be bothered to set up a new build, try Ginger HD2. I can go into standby with the power button and then wake it again seconds later, and it works 99% of the time.

Probably is because GB is so much more resource efficient, so the sleep/wake process is faster. I cant wait til theres more complete/stable GB builds released after awhile. But for now, UltimateDroid does the trick for me as a daily driver.
One thing to prevent black screen on wake is to hold the power button instead of just pressing it. For some reason, this cuts way down on the black wakeups. Between that and using the newest kernel by MDJ, I almost never have black wakeups anymore.
Oh, and it seems to me that the lower class sd cards actually help run Android better. Don't ask me why, but class 2's seem to yield better battery life and even perform better, or at least as good as a 4 or 6

Ginger HD2 isn't a Gingerbread build. It's a 2.2.1 build with a Gingerbread look and feel to it (and the lovely new keyboard too!)
Did you try what I suggested? Also, do a chkdsk for errors on your card. I'm using stock 16gb Sandisk card and have no wake delay with any build and latest hastarin kernel. My phone wakes immediately even multiple back to back locking/unlocking.

I will try this in the next few days. I'm wondering if the wake delays are directly related to the inconsistent ear censors that control the wake and sleep of the phone when in a phone call. Sometimes I will take my ears off the phone to look at the screen and the screen won't light up for a good while. Happens when I end calls too sometimes, screen won't light up. I feel these 2 issues are closely related.

I'm using hastarins 8.6 and the delay is still there. It is a tad better but not gone. I've tried various builds and they all have this very minor delay. It is not that long but can be at times. Sometimes I think people have different interpretations of instant. The best comparison is to try a Desire or Desire HD. Press the power button on those phones and it comes on INSTANT.

I'm using v8.5.3. I've noticed it mostly delays when I quickly sleep wake , sleep wake or like I mentioned before while on a phone call, trying to look at the screen. I feel that the solution to this issue can be found by adjusting the sensors, but Im no expert. Does any one use set CPU? I heard that can help.

FPSE/G2/CM7 Problems

Does anyone else have this running on their G2? I'm sure there are people out there...
I thought that after putting on CM7 and overclocking to 1.2 or 1.4ghz I wouldnt have this sound stutter anymore. Lets just take one game for example, tony hawk pro skater. The music sounds like crap no matter what I do. All the FXs are fine, its just the music that sounds really really bad and the music is one of my favorite parts of the game since the n64 version the music is a garbage 20 second continuous loop.

Yup... couldn't agree more.
To the OP, make sure it's a class 4 or higher. Also, and this will help ALOT, might wanna add v6 supercharger script or ram manager. Ram Manager is easier to deal with so give it a try first. Good luck!
I got a kingston micro sd hc 32 gb class 4.
I heard sometimes the 32gb sds dont work fully properly... guessing this is one... should I downgrade to a class 10 16 gb?

I've got a sandisk 32gb class 4 and it works well. I'd have to say you're okay with sd card. You might wanna check out ram manager then or do some research and try out v6 supercharger script. Either of those help me with high games like Shadow Gun. Again, ram manager is the easiest to deal with but it costs money.

Simple steps to a super stable and fast SGS2 Android Phone

Okay, I may not have 1xxx number of posts, but I read, search, and try. If you're going to judge me from my number of posts, please grow up.
Aside from that, I've tried a **** load of configurations on my SGS2 since I got it in January(2012).
Including but not limited to:
Siyah Kernel, all kinds of mods, and configuration sets from various great tweakers out there, such as MagicPrefs and others.
N.E.A.K kernel, Dream Kernel by team Sky Fire, Dorminax, and many, many others.
I've tried many roms, Stock, CheckROM, Hydrogen, AOKP, CM7-10, etc.
After all of that mixing, matching, testing and using, I've finally come to a conclusion on the perfect build, that makes your phone super fast, stable as a rock, and best part is, it takes minimal tweaks. I've noticed the more "tweaks" I've loaded my phone with, the more, uh..funny it gets in terms of compatibility and issues down the road. And remember, tweaks don't necessarily mean improvement. At some point, I couldn't keep a phone log for more than a few days from the amount of flashing and changing I did..
So here it goes.
At the time of this writing,
ROM
cm-9-20120819-NIGHTLY-galaxys2
Start clean of course, wipe everything and install.
Kernel
Stock (the one that comes with the ROM above)
If you want to tweak the kernel or something, use the built-in Performance menu. I usually use ondemand/conservative on 200-1200. When I need super battery saving mode which is rarely, I go down to 200-800.
Tweaks
V6 SuperCharger
This is where all the magic happens
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=16635544#post16635544
For the installation, it may seem overwhelming with the weird structure of information that tries to appeal to the advanced and novice, but its really simple(and friendly ). I suggest skipping the step one, the one that says about installing fixed su binary, and the whole "Super Charger Starter Kit" I tried it and it messed up my Super User instead, go straight to installing the script, works wonderful.
Other small tweaks which don't change the performance per say, but if you like a fast reactive phone, I recommend you try this:
In developers menu, set all the Animation scales to 0.5x from the default 1.0x. It simply speeds the animations. And if your launcher supports animation speed adjustments as well, such as Nova Launcher which is what I use, use Fast animation settings as well.
DPI
Many of us like to change the DPI, I recommend 213.
Why? Its the same as the Nexus 7, meaning you wont have to go through funny hoops to get Google Play Store working, and its decent, not too big nor too small.
Tip
If you hold the phone with the left hand, you're blocking the wifi chip antenna which is located in the bottom left of the phone. Try using a right hand grip on the phone when you're low on signal strength.
Use the app GetRIL app, it will suggest a matching Modem with your network for your phone.
Thats all. If I'm to sum the past 8 months of experience into one super knowledge of ultimate wisdom, this is it. No funny weird bugs. No 50 million kernel tweaks that don't seem to be doing much other than making the phone more unstable, etc. Only thing I miss is having a volume boost. I keep Voodoo Louder for that, but of course Siyah's built in free volume boost is great.
From here on, its preferable you know what you want in terms of apps. install what you need only. Nothing more, nothing less. If an app seems problematic, freeze/uninstall it.
And really, enjoy your phone. Forget flashing a new build every 6, 12 hours, or day or two depending on how severe your case of flashing is, and use it as its meant to be used.

Yeah I got slightly confused and overwhelmed at first too. All you gotta do really after installing CM9 is:
Download SManager
Download the V6 supercharger script from his thread, and rename it to end with ".sh" and place it in your internal storage root
and thats all the files you need. Use SManager to run the script with the su button on.

I've been using it since my sgs days. IMHO, it gives you boost. Some devs actually use the sqlite script which is also present in supercharger. Any rom can use the script. You have to run the script. However, if you have super su installed it may break its binary which could give you issue. But I think it can detect whether you have super su and it will abort the su binary installation. Believe me your phone will fly.

Supercharger plays around with minfree values and hence it's effective on phones with less RAM. GSII comes with 1GB which is more than enough for ICS or JB.

Supercharger plays around with minfree values and hence it's effective on phones with less RAM. GSII comes with 1GB which is more than enough for ICS or JB.

It does more than just that, but regarding the RAM, you can't really have enough RAM. 2 GB would obviously be better than 1.
The other day I was playing Dungeon Defender Second Wave, and I got a call while I was playing, so I hung up and guess what? The game exited. My brothers S3 (2GB ram) can handle that no problem.
So I tried this with Thunderbolt script with LMK set to 60MB I think, and I was able to multitask the game and a phone call, while still on the same hardware.
Jeezuz! How can anyone understand what to do?
The OP of V6 Supercharger thread is just a fragmented mess off different things, why is it not just simple?
Usual XDA members, think everyone knows everything about phones or you're a lazy sod who can't be arsed to read.
Well I have tried to get it working and read the complicated mess and after I tried to install starter kit which aborted, so then tried running main script like OP said he did, through script manager, said busy box needed updating and took me to site, installed it, ran again, still problems with busy box???
Running NeatROM with latest dual boot siyah 4.xx

Download the supercharger starter kit then download script manager from play store. Open the script manager with su permission. Browse the folder supercharger kit from sdcard. The kit should be copied into the internal not to the external card. From the kit folder run the startmeup.sh with su permission. Then follow screen instruction. If your rom has super su icon, you don't have to install the su binary. However, if you mis this portion during installation the process abort its installation coz the script is auto detecting of the su binary. Cheers mate after this restart phone and it will fly.
Thanks, but after all that, its put me off even more!
Why can it not just be a simple apk or zip that automatically does all this messing about?
