I don't know if my phone is configured wrong or I'm the only person who seems to be bothered by this.....
the DLNA app runs in the background and every time i go to check out my phone, it connects to wifi and i get a "Connection Detected" notification, being the OCD person i am, I'm clearing this message 20 times a day at least.... isnt there a way to stop DLNA from looking for a connection until i decide to turn it on?
note: DLNA is definitely off.
that being said, anyone have a suggestion for how to permanently remove this notification?
I kept getting that message as well. There is an app called media share that notifies you when there is an available connection. Just open the app and uncheck connection notification. Once I did that, I stopped receiving the message in the notification bar. Hopes this helps you.

Tried that, and still comes up after the phone wakes from sleep. I'ts so annoing I just want to delete the application. And to make matters worst, I have two Droid X with the same annoing DLNA pop up in the notification bar. Any solutions to disable, delete or remove this app from the phones? Got Verizon, and my phone is not rooted, due to Android 2.2.4 V4.5.621
You can root your phone.
Root your phone, TiBu , freeze dlna.
I froze it on my droid, never had a use for it so buhbye.
Its a pain with .621 but its recently been made easier. Theres a thread here in general about it.

My voicemail icon keeps coming back randomly even though I have nothing in my voicemail box. Does anyone know what causes this? It's getting reeeeeally annoying!

Is it just saying you have a voicemail or is there another message displayed when you drop down your notifications?
Sent from my HTC Glacier using XDA App
It's saying 'New Voicemail' but there isn't one. Not rooted, no ROM, totally stock.
Not sure about that issue. I know I would get the icon and it stated inbox full if I had less than 100MB (maybe 200MB) of available space on the phone. I had to go through everything and figure out what I really needed on the phone and get rid of the extra junk (thanks Amazon).
You might want to try dialing into your voicemail and see if there is actually a message that visual voicemail isn't downloading. I had that happen on my G1.

Nope, that didnt do anything. This is so annoying. I dont want to have to hard reset over this.
Anyone else have any ideas? Something occurred to me just now. I remember I created a voicemail message by accident by calling my phone with Google Talk on my laptop. I then deleted the voicemail in Google Voice on the laptop. But I'm wondering if MAYBE the message was deleted but the notification was still sent out from Google to my phone and got stuck there when I deleted the message online.?? That make sense?

This happened to me once a long time ago (back when I had a measly Nokia dumbphone). It had something to do with my service provider's network. From what I can remember, which may or may not be accurate, is that the voicemail icon is turned on/off by an unseen sms. For some reason, my phone wasn't getting the "off" sms or something. I ended up calling my service provider and then they sent something across the network that sort of reset that. No idea what they did, but it worked.

I had the same problem, and this worked. Thanks!
I had the same problem recently. I grabbed my wife's phone and left myself a message, it fixed it.
Done. Fixed. My wife called the phone, left a new message, we deleted it and the notice hasnt come back.

So I have decided to pick up a Nexus 7 to use as my primary phone. I will be using a T-Mobile hot spot when mobile, and possibly a spare Android phone to throw in my pocket when the tablet just isn't a possibility. I will of course be using Google Voice with an app for calls and SMS. 99.99% of my phone use is just text or data. I am currently using talkatone free, which seems to work ok except the fact there is no notifications for SMS. I have to open the app and "check sms" just to receive them. I want an app that will show a new message notification in the notifications bar. One that would light up the tablet would be ok as well. I have seen there are some other apps, but I don't want to start buying up apps just to find out they still don't do what I am looking for. Any suggestions?
I use Tablet Talk, its well worth the money.

How does it display new messages?
Just like your phone, a notification with your choice of ringtone, and a messaging interface
Sent from my Nexus 7 using XDA Premium HD app
Keep in mind that Tablet Talk will use your plans minutes and text messages. It simply syncs your phones texts and phone calls to your tablet. If you want to make phone calls going through GV then I would recommend talkatone. Ive used many of the apps that claim to make calls through your gmail account but all have failed, except talkatone. Yes, there is a slight delay but its not that bad. On other apps the delay would be 1min or more which is totally unacceptable. Stick with talkatone, its free and it works. I have been using it for a while now and have noticed quality and delay improvements as it has been updated.
My problem with Talkatone is that I don't get SMS notifications. I have to open the app and "check SMS" every time before it gives me the new ones. I can't seem to find any option in there that would turn on notifications or auto sync. This is annoying as I have to proactively be checking for messages all the time instead of just being notified.
A friend is running the same app on his iPad and when he gets a new SMS message it plays a ring tone and shows an number in the upper right of the app icon showing he has a new message. Mine does neither. Then again he is on premium, is this possibly only a feature of premium? I just have no desire spending $3-5 on apps just to find out they lack this basic feature which kills them.
Well it's not a premium feature as I went premium and it still suffers from the same issue. I don't THINK it's a setting on the N7 itself, as I receive notification for other apps just fine.

Hi
I can't figure out how to turn this off. Every other android phone didn't vibrate when I received an email. Would only play a notification sound if it was on loud. But the nexus keeps vibrating on every single email I receive. How to turn this off? But still receive notifications

I think its a bug with the latest gmail. It did it on my Gnex after the 4.2 update as well.

Same here. I disabled vibrate in gmail but it still does.

Having the same problem with the Email (not Gmail) app. I've set vibrate to off in the email settings, but when I have the phone on vibrate it vibrates regardless. Driving me bonkers.

From my side, it looks like it was working fine after the update, but as soon as I changed the notification settings in an app, the bug appeared for that particular app.

One person did mention reinstalling the app.

no way to fix,
killing app,
sign out and sign in again,
restart phone,
reinstall 4.2,
killing all google service and restart again,
tried all possibilities but no solution,
There is only one way, if u have "Stock 4.1.2 JZO54K" installing OTA pack
"http://android.clients.google.com/packages/ota/google_takju/e587de13bf8a.signed-takju-JOP40C-from-JZO54K.e587de13.zip"
no problem about vibration or anything else

But no one in that entire thread mentioned clearing app data. Now, if you reinstall the whole damn stock ROM with the linked zip (don't just don't, no need to be flashing radio to fix an app bug), it will of course clear app data as part of the install process, whereas just reinstalling the app over the old one won't.
So... did anyone who is having this issue, which supposedly is everyone (personally I've not noticed it because I have my phone set to vibrate when I get emails anyway), try clearing the app data?
I reported this here as well back on the 20th: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=34513360
Figured it out!
Looks like the vibrate check box is just the wrong way around,
when un checked it is on, when checked it is off!
I was wanted to have them on and had the box checked and wasn't getting them, now I have unchecked the box it is vibrating on receiving a message
Unfortunately even with the latest update, my Gmail still demands to vibrate on new messages even when I have this set to off. Am I doing something wrong?
Weird its working for me. I went to settings > sound > notification conversion > unchecked it. Now when I receive an email on my gmail phone does not vibrate. Btw, i am using PA latest ROM.

Since the first day I got my Galaxy S4 i9505 I am repeatedly getting a pop up message saying "Unfortunately, CloudAgent has stopped.", as shown in the screenshot attached to this message.
Right before the message the smartphone freezes completely for a few seconds. It happens very frequently, several times a day.
How can I fix this problem? And what is that CloudAgent for?
Cloud agent is for Dropbox syncing

I disabled the service from the application manager and I haven't got the error anymore.
After I disabled it it disappeared from the list of all apps in the application manager. I wouldn't know how to enable it back if I wanted to.
Dropbox is still working fine, syncing automatically and everything else.
Root Cause
The SQLite statement doesn't like the apostrophe in my wifi name when receiving an MMS (multimedia text message)
Fix
Samsung Engineer: needs to 'escape' the APN so that punctuation is handled in SQLite. (It's actually a beginner-level mistake by the Samsung developer that implemented the code)
Phone owner: update your wifi's name to remove punctuation, like an apostrophe.

Fear not, when you disable an app it's automatically relocated to the bottom of the list, where you can re-enable it.

maybe you have logined on several client, the hangouts will notify only one time!
I have the same issue across multiple accounts and devices. all unique accounts. all on latest stable software
Galaxy Nexus
Nexus 4
Nexus 10
Same here beyond annoying.
Notification Issues
I noticed that my lack of notifications was only happening with one contact. Everyone else who messaged me would come through just fine, but my wife's messages would come through without a peep. I finally did figure out what was wrong and wanted to share that here in case it helps any of you.
Specifically, although we'd installed and used Hangouts on her Nexus, in the Gmail desktop site, she hadn't click the "Try Hangouts Now" button (left click on your account's picture in the Gmail buddy list). Once I clicked that, all of her messages now resulted in notifications on my devices. Long story short, if you're having issues with notifications, see if the person messaging you is still using "Talk". A bit silly that Google didnt move her account over to Hangouts once she installed the mobile app, but oh well.
Hope this helps.
can I ask a stupid question - is hangouts allowing for text messaging now?

I just confirmed that "Hangouts" does allow instant messaging - it does not hit your text messages (but it does hit your data). the other person must also have "hangouts" installed too in order for you to communicate with them via this app

thanks for clearing some things up for certain users! but is anyone else experiencing this problem besides us.
I am experiencing this too, but seem to have noticed a trend. I do get notifications but only on the device that I most recently used to send the message (not both devices like it should). For example at 1 PM, I send a hangout message to another person from my Galaxy S3, they respond at 1:30 PM and it notifies my GS3 but not my Nexus 7. At 1:45 PM I then respond to their previous message from my Nexus 7, and they respond at 2 PM with only my Nexus 7 receiving the notification. Not sure if this is just coincidence but that's what I've noticed so far.
I'm on a Nexus 4 CM 10.1 (initially RC2, now most recent nightly) w/ Nova Launcher running and get no notifications that I've been messaged. In fact, if I chat with someone via Gmail and then check in the hangouts phone app, it will typically not include the chat that was done on my desktop. This is really irritating. Uninstalled updates back to talk for now.

I had same problem with Hangouts, it coming after upgrading to 4.4.4
What I've found on some forums and working for me:
1. Move all hangouts ogg giles from sdcard(emulated)/ ringtones to system/media/audio/ringtones
to do this you have to go to twrp , mount system and use file manager inside twrp
2. Got it working with :
Settings --> Sounds --> Volume --> Volumes --> Uncheck "Link ringtone and notification volumes".
Then an additional choice appears for the Notifications.
After that I started to get the sounds when notifications arrived. I rechecked the "Link ringtone and notifications" and the volume still worked.
Seems like something that needed to be initialized once.
