T-Mobile USA MMS issue with darkstone Froyo - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

Has anyone with USA tmobile been able to send an MMS. I can receive them, but they don't seem to want to send at all. Any workaround to this?

I'm running dan1j3l LeoFroyo Sense RC1, and I've got the same issue. I'm pretty sure they know about it...it's one of the bugs yet to be worked out. In the meantime, I've just been attaching pics to an email.

+1 on this. Its not a show stopper but it sure is annoying. I know I can't expect full functionality yet...

Thanks for the help, but I do have those settings. Still not working unfortunately.
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App

I tried both dan's and darkstones's froyo builds. I can only receive but not send.
Could this have something to do with tmobile? maybe a reset of some sort?

Just to let everyone know. I am using a T9193 with ATT. No matter what android build I try I have the same issue. I can receive MMS but not send MMS. So I don't think it is a T-mobile issue only.

I can sent and receive them if my internet in on.

I have the same problem. But someone on the other thread said a different rom like the miri 17.6 fixed it. I still haven't tried it myself tho.

doing a little research about the builds and this question would be answered.
outgoing mms is not working quite yet on most builds. just sit tight.

It's working just have to get your apn right, just got mine working 10mins ago from the thread here

No dice for me with these settings. I managed to send a small picture with the default settings, but anything else is no go.
My phone also keeps bouncing between H and 3G whenever it needs to send / recieve data. But my speeds are incredible slooooow. 30kB/sec down and about 4 kB/sec up.
Thoughts?

htc hero MMS problem

i have a unlocked sim free HTC hero that i am currently using on AT&T, whenever i try to send an MMS it shows the message pending symbol on the top right of the message and it stays like that for at least an hour and then it finally tells me that the message could not be sent. i have added AT&T's access point name if that makes any difference...
What APN settings are you using? Are you able to receive MMS messages?
i am using the AT&T sim from my iPhone and have read that AT&T has mms disabled. Not sure if this is true. Below are the apn settings I am currently using.
Name: AT&T
APN: wap.cingular
Proxy: leave blank

I'm not using a sim from an iPhone so it should be working and those settings are exactly what im using
Make sure your Wi-Fi is off. I also have AT&T and my MMS only works on my Hero when I turn off my Wi-Fi. I can only hope that the rumors of AT&T 3G bands being hidden by the firmware can be true, because it is a ***** having to constantly turn my Wi-Fi off to receive an MMS.
Oh , ok problem solved .
thanks uultramann switching my wi-fi off fixed the problem, but your right that is a hassle, and if the AT&T 3G bands are hidden does that mean there will be some sort of update for the hero to get those bands or am i completely off target?

I can receive mms but there is a download button in the mms... once i click on it, it downloads it but i dont know where it is stored... help
for those of you having to turn Wifi off to get their MMS to work, instead of leaving the APN Type blank, try setting it to 'mms' (without the quotes obviously, and all lower case)
that should solve the issue for you.

Does MMS work on hd2 with android froyo?

hello all
i recently changed from the windows os to the android os on my T-mobile US Htc HD2.
i need help with one minor problem i have been having; i cannot send or recieve mms while on android on the HD2.
i am running the android froyo 2.2 by dan1j3l (or however its spelled ) and i have had no problems at all, except this. Oh, and i noticed that the volume(sound:ringtones, speakerphone in calls..) is lower than when running windows mobile. but to make things clear, i do have sound on my HD2 when on android froyo.
those are the only two minor problems i have had on the phone.
please help me
im not sure what other information may be needed in order to help me solve my problem, but it would be much appreciated!
thank you,
Vic_Gar
most everyone IS having trouble with the mms... i can recieve as i've heard others can as well but few can send. it's being worked on.
As for sound, it's the same thing... i think i read a few builds have improved sound quality but i'm not sure which... just gotta keep trying em all out, that's what i did.
I am also having this problem hopefully the devs will fix this..its been a month since i could send or recieve MMS
oo and im running froyostone rom
add me to the list.
although...i did have it working for a bit, using the settings where the proxy was set up in the default apn as well as the mmsc field. but it was SLOOOOOOOW (like 10 mins) to send an MMS. I messed with it (of course) now it won't send at all.
I can't find where I saw it but as far as low volume goes you need to max the volume in Windows before booting Android. As android basically runs like an app initially the WM volume setting is applied to it. Hope that helps.
ok, mms is working again.
it's still really slow though. This is my setup. What's a bit different from what I've seen is the combo of filling out the default prox/port and the apn type. I think most of what i've seen suggests filling one or the other.

I had this issue before myself when I first installed Froyo. What I did:
Before booting into Android, I made a call and hit Speaker, then raised the Call Volume all the way. I then turned off Speaker and raised the Call Volume again. I also double-checked the "Sounds" settings and made sure everything was set to "Normal".
I no longer have issues with the sound.
Hope this helps!
I can send and reciece MMS in Android
Im running Htcclay's SuperHD2 on mine and the only thing that acts up is if i use Chomp SMS. When that preview popup comes up with the text, when i reply it doesnt send. Everything works fine if i open the text and send a sms/mms
I have better luck sending and receiving mms using RMNET rather than ppp. It is very slow to send though...
I tried xjjk settings and, they did work for me. I don't have the MMS Protocol setting. Mine is not slow either.
So far this is working for me.
I'm using Darkstone HD2Froyo V3
There is a mdeejay build revolution 1.5. It has a link to mms fix for t-mobile us.

thanks!

How'd you get it to start working?
While booted in android goto settings, wireless controls, mobile networks, access point names, press menu and select new apn, enter the above settings, press menu save. Go back into apn and select your apn you created.

I tried to use the settings, however I can not select WAP 2.0 I'm using nand cyanogen 2.1 build.. I get the little 3G symbol then all of a sudden it tells me "unsuccessful"

yes follow the directions to add the MMS settings on your phone. everything will work after you install but with Android on your Micro SD card remember to reboot after the first boot. then everything should work.
once i got the settings right everything was working fine recv and sending MMS

Those are one of the two most common TMOUS "working" settings I've seen floating around on the forums, and I highly believe that the settings depend on your plan, location, or some other vague difference. Also, some mention setting the proxy screws up their https sessions. The other version is:
APN: epc.tmobile.com
Proxy: <not set>
Port: <not set>
Username: <not set>
Password: <not set>
Server: <not set>
MMSC: http://216.155.174.84/servlets/mms
MMS Proxy: 216.155.165.50
MMS Port: 8080
MMS Protocol: WAP 2.0
MCC: 310
MNC: 260
APN Type:default,supl,mms
There's a few TMOUS MMS threads floating around that might have other settings as well. Try one of the two above & see what works for you.
Also, I found I can't send MMS to a friend of mine, and after some troubleshooting, found that it's our phones sending too big of pics for her phone (on AT&T) to receive. I installed an app on an earlier build (that I can't remember name of) that pre-shrunk pics before sending, which then worked fine. So, when testing, check to see if it's your phone not sending, or just theirs not receiving.
This fixed my issue! yay! Thanks you!

MMS issues?

I am wondering if anyone else is having MMS issues with their Android roms?
It seems to be an issue with converting images into MMS-based images.
But, I have also noticed that some images from my phone will send. More so, images that have not been taken with my phone. And then again, even some which aren't can't be sent. I came to the conclusion that it might be the size, but, when sending a 281kb image, it worked, and I later tried sending a 19kb file, and one a bit larger than 19kb, and neither of those worked.... So I am stuck trying to figure out the MMS issue.
Anyone have any ideas/suggestions?

I found the PERFECT Internet and MMS Settings for HD2 Android Web2go!!!!

I've been trying for days to get this to work, I would get MMS to send but no internet and wont be able to download an MMS. I would be able to send an MMS but my number would come up as someone different. I haven't found a working config online for the Android Builds on MMS so I hope this helps everyone. it doesnt lift the 300kb limit, but I'm just freaking excited it works.
Go to Settings >> Wireless & Networks >> Mobile Networks >> Access Point Names >> then create a new APN with these settings

wow, I owe you a lunch for these. I can't believe I didn't try using the internet2 server for the mms server before. Thanks so much!!! I removed the proxy and it still works! I received the mms in about 4 seconds. Nothing else has worked and I've tried for hours and hours and almost gave up.
okay, only half working. I can send fast now, but can't receive anymore. It worked once then dead. I'll keep trying, but at least I'm closer.

Wait at least a minute. I'm using Handcent. You should see your connection disappear when you try to send as it switches over to epc.tmobile.com from internet2. I am getting 3-8 second sends at 100kb with similar receive times.
I think the trick is to do this and wait about 2-3 minutes. At first I had problems with the browser. It told me that I needed to upgrade to get internet access. But after about 3 minutes it started working.
let's see. trying again...
picture sent in 8 seconds
received in 5 seconds. 83kb
world of frustration is over for now

There is an Energy Ti ROM under there somewhere too.
I also used *#*#4636#*#* (call this number) to set my Network settings to WCDMA preferred. I don't think that's what did it though.
thank you thehumble1 you settings helped me find another which works after my mms stopped working on AmeriCanAndroid gingerbread builds. if anyone is having issues I am using this apn

glad it worked for you. I'm still only getting success about 60% of the time, but it's the best I've had.

T-Mobile US APN Settings for MMS

I have found about 20 different posts that all list different APN settings for T-Mobile US. Does anyone know what they should be for sure? Please only post if you are able to SEND MMS. I seem to be able to receive MMS, but can never send MMS. I have gotten it to work a couple times on some builds but the same settings don't seem to work on other builds.
Posting the settings is great but if you have a backup file from "APN Backup and Restore" that would be even more convenient.
Thanks
I fought with this same problem for a while, trying every setting i found in all the threads. One way i finally found that allowed me to send and recieve was to make 2 APN's, one with the standard epc.tmobile.com and nothing else, and another named t-mobile mms with the following settings:
APN: T-Mobile MMS
Proxy: None
Port: None
Username :none
Password: none
Server: none
MMSC: http://mms.msg.eng.t-mobile.com/mms.wapenc
MMS Proxy: 216.155.165.050
MMS port: 8080
MCC: 310
MNC: 260
I got the idea for using multiple APN's when i looked at my girlfriend's my touch slide's settings. Hope that helps!
Thanks. I'll give that a try and let you know how it goes. I read once that there are different settings for PPP and RMNET. I wonder if that's why I was able to get it to work on some builds and not others.

Thanks for these settings that u shared. This was the only APN that worked for my friend to get mms on tmobile prepaid with an AT&T Xperia Play 4g. They only get 2g/Edge, but I feel they even got an increase in speed from the "telekila"APN that was on the phone even if its small increase within 2g. Thanks everyone.
What are the correct apn settings for T-Mobile prepaid? Speedtest.net is reporting my location WAY off and pings are through the roof even though data speeds are just fine.
