Blown Speaker - Droid X General

So, ever since my Droid X arrived via Fed-EX, I've had issues with the ear speaker in-call volume. Turning up the in-call volume much past half way yeilds, what I describe as a vibration buzz, following any sound coming through the ear peice, similiar to a blown speaker. I plan to have it replaced, but wanted to know if anyone else has experienced this issue?? I hope it's not a design flaw for all of the phones... I would like to turn my phone up past half way!!
Other than that, the phone seems great and I can't wait for Froyo to arrive!

droid x speaker buzz
I too have this problem. My Droid X arrived via fed-ex on Monday, 7/26. It was perfect except for one thing: on any call, the voice of the other person has a "power line buzz" overlay to it whenever they speak. When they're silent, there is no buzz, but when any sound is made from the other end, there is a heavy buzz overlay from the speaker, very annoying. It is more prominent when it is a machine voice on the other end, such as voicemail and especially the activation voice (when I first noticed it).
I should point out that there is no buzz on speakerphone, or with a bluetooth headset/headphones, only when listening using the normal phone speaker, which leads me to believe it is a hardware problem.
I filed a "problem ticket" with Verizon technical support today, who told me that they probably wouldn't get back to me until after the weekend because of their hours...

Interference with own speaker

I've noticed over the past few weeks that my TyTN now seems to be interfering with itself. As in the noise that your speakers make when your phone is near them and communicating with the tower. Only it seems to be doing this to it's own internal speaker. Btw my service is Cingular. Anyone else experiencing this?
My 8525 just started doing that about a week ago.
It's a faint sound just like you would hear through radio speakers
except it's coming right from the headset. (not speaker-phone)
Yea, it's just as if that gsm interference sound is interfering with it's own speaker.
Others have reported a louder noise coming the back speaker when their Hermes was just setting on the table or night stand.
In response someone suggested that maybe the battery wasn't insulated well enough.
I have cingular and I had a similar problem with my Razr, so far I haven't had the problem with my 8525 which I just got last week. It was really annoying.
I've found that this only tends to happen when I have the display turned off. Also, turning the display on when this happens appears to immediately stop it. Odd.
it seems the speaker on the hermes is not shielded properly. i had this problem on my old samsung z100.
Same here with my v1605 - an annoyingly loud hum. After a soft reset, it does not occur until any sound file (e.g. ring tone) is played. Switching the display on stops it temporarily.
With my first one, it started after about a week and became really annoying, so I got it swapped. With the replacement I got then it occured twice so far, but it has been quiet now for maybe 10 days.

Ditto with my 8525. Very annoying.
I'm having the same issue with a brand-new 8525. It doesn't always seem to happen (I'm using direct push), but sometimes when it is receiving mail it will.
Anyone found a fix or really nailed down what the issue is?
yeah, i have a similar problem. whenever i'm connecting to a phone call or data session it makes buzzing noises in my computer speakers. i would love a fix for this.

Dead Audio on Apache ppc6700

I have just come across a little bit of a problem, with my apache! There is no sound what-so-ever coming from the device. It was working fine before, I went to make a call, and nothing, didn't hear the ring, tryed playing mp3's, nothing. Come someone help. There is no rush for this request, I'm just using the device as a beta software testing device! I haven't tested anything on it as of yet! Thanks in advance!
my speaker phone went out. I can hear when i make/recieve calls but thats is.
no system sounds, no ringer, nothing.
I did get system sounds when i plugged in a headset.
People told me that usually the headset detector pin gets stuck and the phone thinks there is a headset in and disables audio, i could see this being the case if it disabled audio in calls. my failure was external speaker only.
Someone suggested holding the volume up (so it goes ding ding ding ding) and smacking the phone against your palm (others advised against this) well its insured so i smacked away. I noticed every time i hit it against my palm the sound would come in for a split second. Eventually that stopped working. I was lucky enough to have a spare xv6700 i was about to send back as a bad unit and i was able to switch out speakers (it unplugs from the board) and whala problem solved.
dead audio on Apache ppc6700
I have this same issue with my 6700 quite often. What I do is plug the headset back in and pull it out a few times untell the sound comes back. once you do that. as long as you never use the headset jack. then you should never have an issue with it.

[Solved] Handsfree and waiting through Loud Speaker!

Ok XDA, i have one big/huge/enormous problem,
Scenario:
Talking on the phone, using the Wired Handsfree (which came with the phone), when i get another call (call waiting) the notification of the other call is going through the loud speaker! not only that, the ongoing is immediately routed the loud speaker, anyone near me can hear the conversation clearly!!!!!!
does anyone face this?
i checked it on 2 X1s, 1 black & 1 silver and it's there.
anyway to solve this
same problem for me
I have a similar problem with a Parrok CK3100. The phone can't ever seem to decide for sure what speakers it's supposed to be using.
Sometimes I'll press the Voice Command button on the bluetooth device and the phone speaks out, sometimes the car speakers speak out.
I just don't know.
Annoying that the much, much cheaper E71-2 handles all of this with great aplomb, as did my Q9h.
any one else facing this problem people?
i started searching in order to get a clue,
the main thing i'm thinking is that it's caused the same way VOIP (including skype) used to behave using speaker phone!
what do you think?
I have the same problem with a german x1. ROM R2A.
Is there any solution for this problem
thx
walk
Fixed
Bugs Fixes (Registry):
Sound is routed to the Loud Speaker when having a phone call and get a waiting call while using Handsfree
change the key HKCU\ControlPanel\SoundCategories\Ring\Speaker to 0 (default value = 1).
added to the wiki of X1
Thanks. I've changed that setting to see if it solves my problem, too.

Put your Vibrant's speaker to your ear...

Turn your phone to the back to the camera is facing you, put the speaker next to the camera against your ear, do you very faintly hear some kind of static coming from it? Mine does that but I have no cllue why...
Is it noticeable when playing a video/music without putting it directly to your ear?
and is it noticeable when using headphones?
Some speakers pick up radio waves.... And speakers also make static when any type of airwave data passes thru the speaker...
**try putting ur phone right next to a computer speaker, while sending/ receiving a text... Bet you'll here some static..

I noticed this too, the earpiece is supposed to be shielded from the RF. Never heard this on any phone I had since my nokia 5190.
No one listens to their phone like that, so why should it matter...
And no, I don't hear this. Maybe you left you phone in a bad place and something happened to the speaker?
Its big brother reprogramming the neurons in your brain!!!
I just realized I sounded like Steve Jobs in my last reply: "No one listens to their phone like that, so why should it matter..."
I need a cocktail, or few...
I've had this since day one. Not a big deal. It only happens while in a call and it's so faint I don't notice it anymore
my g1 used to do that
just radio interference
I can only barely hear it when the screen is on...
I could care less, no real issue that I can think of.

its the ocean dude!
OMG... I was doing this and thought I looked pretty stupid and then an email came through! Nearly made me go deaf! Ouch!
I tried it and couldn't hear a thing. But maybe I've just attended too many concerts...
Good find, yeah I hear it
Sent from my SGH-T959 using Tapatalk
I misread the op's post. I have interference coming through the normal earpiece you use for phone calls.
On a side note, google talk has a bug where it will play the alert you have set for it through the ear piece when you are in a phone call instead of making a descrete beep. Almost made me deaf today while on a call.
I haven't heard it since I flashed v5
Still flashing , thanks to odin & tw

No sound???

Hey all,
I just got my RMA device, which overall is a great improvement over my current nexus 4. The problem I literally just started to encounter while testing it all out is sound not working. Youtube was working fine, sound and all, then I installed a few more apps (harmless ones that I had on the other phone, and are well known and trusted). Now the sound flat out will not work on youtube, or through the google play stream. I can select ring tones fine, and the examples play, so it seems that the speakers work.... Tried playing fruit ninja, no sound. I'm pretty baffled, but also a huge noob at android, so I might be missing some stupid simple?
Any advice or help is greatly appreciated.
ETA: Apparently the speakers only work when it comes to listening to ring tones, and the noise made when raising or lowering the volume of the ringer. Other than that, I'm getting jack **** for sound. Appears the mic doesn't work either, as when I talk into the google search or the talk to text, it does absolutely nothing but tell me to talk into the mic, then tells me to tap to talk since it didn't pick anything up. Guess I've got another RMA coming, and of course all the problems that were fixed with this RMA will be back again, probably along with a ****ed up yellow screen. **** you, Google. **** you, LG. I've never had such ****ty buying experiences.
Bump because I'm utterly confused.
The sound/mic work but it seems to only last a short time. I had left the RMA phone off all night, turned it on, and lo and behold, the sound works. So did the mic, it would pick up everything I said when pushing the google search mic icon. Decided to try out youtube, put on a two minute video, which had sound. 3/4 of the way through the video, the video stuttered, buffered, and the sound was gone. Mic no longer picked up anything I said. Annoyance was had.
Turn the phone off AGAIN, leave it off for a few hours. Come back to see if I can even call people, if the mic is not working. Click the google search mic icon to test it out, there is sound and it picks up my voice. Try out an 8 minute video this time, sound works fine (maybe a little quiet) until the ~6 minute mark, then cuts out again! I decide to try a call, since the mic is no longer picking up my voice when I do google voice search. I call my old cdma phone, put it on speaker, and speak into it. I can hear myself clearly through the cdma phone, no problem. I end the call, and lo and behold, sound again!
I am completely baffled as to this issue. Is it a hardware problem? Is it a software problem? Anyone with lots of experience have any theories? I have no idea whether I need an RMA or some sort of software update. As of right now Im' running the phone as I got it, I did a factory reset this morning. Last night when the sound was cutting off, it had the OTA and numerous apps installed/updated.
