PC Companion update

Hey all, I did a search and couldn't find an answer. SE PC Companion is prompting me to update it to version 2.00.142. Should I? Could it block me getting root access later?

Nobody can give you that answer, until somebody has rooted that......
If PC Companion is prompting you to update to some version, then it is PC Companion softwrae and not the Phone's Android System....
So go ahead and update it...

I updated the PC Companion and it has no changes.
Plugged phone in and no firmware update.
Still has same UI and sub-windows as older version.

PCC or SEUS can try to update your phone.
Most of the regions in the wold have no update and Sony has left out them in the dark.
at first I got my phone from Dubai and I even didnt had market in my X10.
but I debranded by phone and installed UK version and now I updated it to latest RIFB001 with Kernal version of 2.6.29 and Baseband of 1.0.21

Can somone explain the OTA update system to me,
I have debranded from .14 to .16 baseband, I run the software update and it tells me that I had the latest, how can Dubai have an update,

I no longer have dubai version, pls read my previous post, on the first debarnd I change it to UK version.
and from there I flash it to X10i Generic NCB (R1FA016) after that simply plug it to the PC companion and it will tell you there is an update available, simple do it. you will be on updated to R1FB001 by SE.

From what I gather, ota updating is an update without connecting to a PC. I'm pretty sure the ota available on jerps thread is for Japanese x10s. I haven't tried that one yet as I'm satisfied so far with the r1fb001.

SW Update on Vodafone

Woke up this morning to find a notification saying that an update is available, however unlike 024 that I could do OTA this one says I need to connect to a PC. Is this 026 or something else??

build number R2BA024.... no change? it acted as if it was flashing but upon restart, all i got different was a notification that Vodaphone 360 has an update, which i declined... lol
edit: and now i have an application in my draw called 360 Updates i opened it and it takes me to an install screen for vodafone 360.
how dissapointing!

Generic UK has 15 Mb update after 026 FW, I dont know what is it, never has a change to test cuz i cant stand for an unroot FW more than 1 minute, ha ha

Wonder if it is R2BA027 or R2BA028. Maybe it is to correct the WiFi bug that some have been experiencing.

Nope, as I said, I already update that file, same base band and FW ver 026. I think it is just some small update for fixing bugs. I hope that it is a incall volume fix but it seem isn't

Vodafone 151MB update via Update Service on PC...
Not too sure what this update is all about, am still trying to figure it out, I was on 024, it still says 024...WTH

nothing showing here ........ I unbranded originally from 014 voda branded to 016 uk generic unbranded ..I'm now upto Baseband 1.1.31 and firmware R2BA026 from a couple of days agos update not sure if this is most recent but not offering anything OTA or via SEUS either !?
Ive not seen the WIFI dropout issue with mine as yet so dont know If I maby got an after that bugged release fixed version?!

People just calm down, and stop blowing your own mind regarding FW updates. I'll rather dicuss when our OS get updatet to 2.1 etc later this month or end of September. And i got my hands on a test version for the X10i. So you can all soon been awaiting it on OTA or thru SEUS tools.

@vickysud theres a thread on 2.1 already on the forum please use that for discussion or start a new thread asking FRAPSROOTET directly please!

@All who are confused... The OTA version of the builds is a patch version which downloads only the bits that need to change.. the SEUS or PCC version downloads the complete file and in my experience the SEUS version was actually a bit slicker.

Rooted with R2BA023 now, how to root back stock?

Now I have rooted my phone from R2BA023, how do I root back the stock ROM when I want to upgrade from SEUS to the new firmware next month?

What is the difference between R2BA026 with R2BA020? Is R2BA020 belong to UK Generic ROM? What about R2BA026?

Anyone to help me? Any difference in the selection of network for R2BA020 and R2BA026?

There should be no need to go back to stock when the update arrives. You should be able to plug into SEUS and update. You will then lose root, and have to root again.

Brother, thanks for your reply. Are you on R2BA026 also? I notice my reception is very bad compared to R2BA020 and this evening, I have no connection to the internet at all.

Still on 020 in uk? Stopped getting updates after rooting?

Just wondering as others got 026 other day. Im on orange but dont yhink the phone is branded to them it was from a 3rd party store not sure what the sigs are but I dont have any orange branded apps on the phone. Not had any updates since 020 would annoy me if 2.1 came and I couldnt pick it up lol

Well if that happened then you could just debrand.

Got bad news im afraid the phone is branded just secretly, the traffic TV app is exclusive to orange
to debrand i suggest you download http://www.megaupload.com/?d=NPNW099K that, follow the instructions to install the 026 firmware, that what i did and i believe it is now debranded, it also roots, etc.

I'd follow steps 1-5 HERE to debrand, then run SEUS to get 026.

I rooted and debranded, so I could get 020 generic months ago, but I got an OTA prompt to say an update was available yesterday and to update via. SEUS. Haven't done so as I don't want to brick my phone, so am considering my options, whether or not it would be safer to flash my old O2 016 files, and then try to run the update. Even that could go wrong though,so maybe I should just take the risk. but dont want to brick my phone

I take it debranding is the obly way to get 2.1 on release for me then? Is there a chance of recovery if i brickit lol used ti flash alit of custom roms on winmo but still quite new to android

The chance of bricking it is next to none so wouldn't worry about it.

first of all, is it branded? if so maybe is your carrier if not then you just screwed it XD

I have just updated NEO 4.0.A.2.368 via OTA from .181.
Rooted remain.

Why not update via OTA for X arc?

I think there is OTA update for Arc.
But maybe this depends on place (CDA).
And maybe you must be update from .181 (when my NEO was .145 and check update on phone - before reflash fw .181 about few hours - it asked me update via PCC)

Confirmed:
- My friend's NEO has just updated from .145 -> .368 via OTA (76.6Mb)
with the same CDA 1247-0875
(waiting for root info ...)

after each restart, my phone date and time goes back to 1.1.1980

I don't know which on you're using, but I just checked for updates on UK Generic .184 and Global Generic .181, and both OTA updates are still for .145 and not .368. (Going by the download size which is ~40MB)

Lol all I get ota is 'could not connect to server'.
