I searched but haven't found any results.
I recently was adjusting my setting in setcpu, and I set it too high momentarily. I set it to 787 and the phone started to freeze. I normally set it to 710 or 729 maximum. After it froze, I rebooted. Since that time, my phone has been lagging at times (scrolling between screens etc).
So I wanted to know if there is a way to test the cpu to see if it is operating normally. Any help, or a point in the right direction would be appreciated.
I just want to make sure I didn't damage anything, or if the lag I'm seeing is a result of something else.
Thanks in advance.
edit: I ran a stress test in setcpu, and it said no errors
Just clock it back down to where it was stable...

I did that, I am flashing a new rom now. I did a complete wipe. I'm flashing CyanogenTazz v3. It was only lagging on home screens. I'm thinking it may be something with launcherpro, since everything else was running normal.
I even did a nand backup, and still had lag. We'll see what happens now with a fresh install.
Try uninstalling SetCPU when you get CyanogenTazz, it's not really necessary as the phone will overclock/underclock itself.

It installed automatically, since I had it installed on version 2. I haven't opened or set it yet. I will uninstall and see what happens. So far I seem to be running smooth.
If I start getting lag again, I'm going to uninstall launcherpro, and try running adw for a bit. I hope there's not a problem with launcherpro, I love that app.

So my wife and myself both have the Fascinate. Both are running JT's 1.2 Kernel, both running LauncherPro, similar apps, etc.
She's been IMing me this morning letting me know that her phone is running really really slow, like it takes more than a few seconds for her to type keys for a text message.
I've had her do a couple restarts and battery pulls, but that doesn't seem to be doing anything yet.
Until I get home to check it out and see what's going on, is there anything I should look into that would cause such crappy performance?
Thanks in advance.
Autokiller doesn't seem to play nicely sometimes, if you have that installed.
(The lowmemkiller tweaker, not task killer).

I have it on mine, it might be on her's, i'll tell her to uninstall it if she does have it.
I have no issues with mine so far though, that i know of.
Did she reset the slider in setcpu to 1200 after reboot?
Just a silly question: not using the setcpu widget is she?

she isn't, and it's set to boot. that was something I was going to look at when I got home, but unless she did something to change it from set on boot, it should be fine.
Maybe something running in the background...?

Yea, until I can actually get the phone's in my hands, I have no idea. There is a chance she might have downloaded or installed something that caused her phone to wig out, she probably would have told me if she did though.
I also won't know more until she starts texting me back too. lol
You're running the voodoo kernel right? If so, the general consensus here is that the build of Voodoo that's in the currently released kernels (like JT's 1.2), slows down with use. I saw this myself. It negated most of the performance benefit of voodoo with time.
A temporary solution, is to wipe cache. I normally did a wipe davlik and normal cache, thru CWM. That speeds it up again, until it slows down, or so it seems... Hard to get definite answers on most of this stuff that don't go over my head.

There are a lot of factors that go into performance, and slow is something I refuse to tolerate. Lol. I don't know what your comfort level is with the various processes, but if I were unable to find the culprit, I would probably rebuild.
This would mean complete voodoo uninstall via adrenalynes thread instructions, and Odin to stock.
Reroot
Apply CWM
Either remove all unwanted bloatware, or just install one of the several roms. I'm running Jt's super clean without issue.
Theme and mod if desired
Once you're situated to your content, Voodoo. I recommend making that the last step.
I run SetCPU on custom, specific to the kernel you're using, and use Juice Defender beta, autorunkiller and auto killer with and aggressive main profile and an ultimate secondary.
I do also make it a habit to reboot once a day, just because Android in general seems to like that.
I don't tend to keep any touchwiz I don't use, including the launcher. It's bulky in and of itself. It can be replaced by dropping your launcher of choice in the /system /app directory, and then freezing, renaming, or removing it.
I know this isn't a correct response to your initial question, but there are so many factors that could be causing your issue, I thought I would share what works for me. Until I occasionally decide to experiment and bork my phone, this process always gives me a perfectly smooth, incredibly responsive device with no FC, lag, slow down, or other issues, and battery is at least 16 hours of high use.
My GF kept her touchwiz launcher, widgets, and wallpapers, but otherwise has the same set up, and she's been running liquid smooth for a month.
If your problem goes away after installing something, disregard this post. Lol. Every device is a little different.

This happened to me a few times with my Incredible. It was enough of a pain that i ended up uninstalling it and my phone stopped having mysterious slow downs.
I'm hoping my Fascinate has better luck with over-clocking than the incredible did... SetCPU makes me miss Govnah and the uberkernel from my Pre+
ok so... when i first got shifted, first app i installed was quadrant and smartbench. now... i ran quadrant right off the bat. easy 1607 1657 and 1704
Now Im hitting 1304 1345 and 1205 (this 1 almost made me cry)
also atk'd everything (still low scores) and rebooted then atk'd, same thing
Having else having this issue?
EDIT: Scatch that! it was my lwp and widgets, man do i feel dumb XD
ANOTHER EDIT: Scratch that again , its still happening lol
Uninstall everything then reboot and try again or do a factory reset. Like it's been said before, benchmarking and real life are two different things. Try not to get too obsessive with numbers. If the phone feels like it's slowing down then start removing programs you don't use often.
There is a built in task killer. Go to settings then applications then running services. Stop programs you know what they are and do. That seems to help a little.
Try installing or stopping the ATK and running it then.

Either remove the app with titanium backup, or try using autorun killer. Either will require temp root.
Go into sync settings and disable it
Hi there,
I have been an opera mobile user for some time now but hitting CM7 it crashes all over the place. The crashes are seemingly random but I have noticed the majority occur when loading a link to a new tab; however, I have had it crash on me just scrolling a page.
A tame crash will simply close opera but most of the time the browser freezes CM7 and causes a system reboot (which sometimes has to boot twice).
I've had a search about and found nothing of use. There's something about flash causing crashes but since flash is not supported on the legend this seems unlikely.
I have tried:
1. Factory Reset - No Change
2. Restricting Plugins in case flash was (opera:config - extensions, uncheck plugins) - has crashed as I have tried to change this!
Maybe it's a problem with CM7, I do not know...
Is there a way of testing what is going on? Or does anyone have a fix for this?

If you're overclocking, don't. I had the exact same problem and it was down to overclocking.

CM7 doesn't have any flash support whatsoever, so it's not the flash plugin.

I had forgotten I had even set any overclocking as I changed that well over a month ago! None of my other apps have shown any problems with it...
Never mind, changed it back to stock and everything's running smoothly.
Thankyou and hopefully it keeps running well!

I had very similar problems. The only times I ever crashed was while I was using a browser. Didn't matter what browser though - I crashed regardless.
Anyway, glad I could help.

I only ever crashed outside of opera with blay0's / cm6 (possibly the fault of froyo roms). I was also overclocking to 787 on those roms but crashes were rare.
Cm7, even on the nightlies a month ago, was very stable at 787 and as mentioned opera was the first to crash it. Anyway, just thought I would mention, but opera mobile has had an update in the last fee days which mentions lots of crash fixes (although none specific to CM7 final) so I thought I would try overclocking again.
I haven't crashed so far so they seemed to have fixed whatever was going on!

Please report back as to whether or not you do end up crashing/rebooting. If no crashes occur I may just start OC'ing myself again.

Tried 787 Mhz and opera tended to freeze for half a second every now and again. Crashed twice so far over a day's usage.
768 Mhz has not crashed at all and has not frozen like 787 did. Seems like 768Mhz is possible again
Only been testing for a two days but things look positive. The weather has also been very hot so it bodes well for this update.
Sorry for a double post, but still no crash on 768mhz.
I am on lightspeed 2.01 with the latest Thor kernel. I have tried the taboony rom, civato's and a few others but I have never been able to fully stop randomn screen wakeups even sometimes when I have wifi off completely. Is there a way to fully stop it from happening? Thanks in advance.

I couldnt say the issue right now, expecially since you have been trying multiple roms. I do know that random screen wake ups were an issue with original a500s until they were updated for stock. I used to have this issue as well until I updated.
However, in your case I would recommend a complete wipe, no memory card, and test with rooted stock rom or rom of your choice. then if issue doesnt happen, put your memory card in and test, and if still working fine then start redownloading and reinstalling what you want.
If it happens even after complete wipe then might be a hardware problem and may eventually have to contact acer.
If you have a "screen on issue", I would point the finger at some downloaded apps, and not necessarily the rom.
It is normal, for a rom, to goto sleep, then immediately wake for a minute, then go to sleep permanently.
If it's waking at intervals after this point, then it is an app issue.

Again as usual Its likely a app that is causing this.. You can install a app called
advanced task manager and make sure you have TI BACKUP INSTALLED.
run the task manager kill all running apps.
DO not let the task manager run in background you can turn it off in its settings.
look at the apps that keep starting themselves after you put it to sleep. IN Ti freeze one of the apps running.
if the trouble continues try another app. go thru all of your apps until you find the app not playing nice.. try checking its settings to stop it from auto updating..
apps that useally do this are like facebook twitter email news apps weather apps and so on .
Good Luck and Happy Diagnostic Fun..

I was playing a game this morning when my phone suddenly went to a static screen. I was unable to do anything except a simulated battery pull; when it came back up, my settings were gone.
My launcher settings were back at default
My lock screen widgets were gone
All of my app settings and savegames were gone
Some apps were no longer installed (like SwiftKey)
Other settings were still there, though; which is very odd:
Wallpaper was still set
My multiple GMail accounts were still set (though they thought I logged in for the first time on that device)
My ROM Control settings (PIE instead of Nav Bar, colors, etc) were still set
Any ideas?
I get these sometimes... Not sure on cause.

Odd. I'm glad it's not just me, but it still sucks.
Wow, I couldn't even re-install SwiftKey. I had to remove the folder from /data/data for it to cooperate (I got the Google Play "-24" error).
This is just bizarre.
I'm going to have to completely wipe and reflash the ROM.
If it helps one of the devs, I'm using the latest TWRP on a consumer RAZR M. I've been running this ROM for a week or so before this happened with no issues.

never happened to me (yet). I'm guessing that you must have some conflicting apps somewhere. I'm sure you already know this, but I advise to make a nandroid (about once a week) just to help restore in those events. also helps to run a backup via TiBu (or at least backup your ROM control and launcher settings).\
what kernel were you on? were you using crossbreeder? any other custom settings?

Yeah, I typically only did a nandroid when I changed something. I'll definitely start doing one more often, now!
I purchased Nandroid Manager, so I can restore individual apps and settings from my backup, eliminating the need for TiBu. I can also backup via ROM Toolbox, though, if you think it'll help.
Kernel: 3.0.81-byte.Kernel
Not using Crossbreeder as far as I know, unless it was built into the kernel or something. I didn't install it, that's for sure (alpha mods worry me on my daily driver!).
The only other custom setting I have (that can't be changed in ROM Control or the like) is a custom boot logo. I'm not overclocked or overvolted or anything, either.

i think this ROM is over-clocked by default. check the performance control under settings. for me, I set mine to max at 1512 (that's stock JB 4.1.2), and have not noticed any performance lags. I'm still tinkering with the governor and I/O scheduler.

It isn't on mine, for some reason. I just reflashed the latest and greatest and my max is set to 1512.
Do you recommend crossbreeder? I've been reading through the thread and I'm kind of on the fence at the moment. Do you really notice a difference?

jury is still out. perhaps I should have tried without it. the latest version (6.19) fixes the ad blocker.
