Rom Manager - Droid Incredible General

I am using a rom manager from the marketplace. Is it possible for me to make a folder in root for the SD to place all my rom zips? Im trying to figure out how to store all my roms on my sd card so i dont have to rename each rom to update.zip and then load it to the SD root each time i want to switch. Any input would be helpful. Hope i explained that right

If you download from your browser it makes a neat folder on the sd called downloads. I personally dont use rom manager. It is a good tool for root users, but i perfer doing things the old fashoined way.

he meant to use Root Explorer app instead ASTRO, it is better and you will be able to access to everything plus change permissions , edit system files and so and so.
Now in my opinion app2sd and link2sd have something is common and that is that both of them keep a part of each app you send to sdcard, the only different i see between both to my like is that with link2sd you can use widgets while with app2sd once you send apps to sdcard you will not be able to use their widgets.
BUT that is for me old stuffs as now a brand new solution has been released and im talking about data2system method.
Check development threads there are 2 method:
The first one created by Anton_ch and posted by me here in XDA
The second one created by Mu4ik and posted by fishears
Read about each one so you decide for one and try it, that is my suggestion.

I take it you are trying to use the ROM Manager from within Android, at least that's what it sounds like...
Anyway, that doesn't work with the Streak. You have to download StreakDroid and put it in the root of your SD card and name it "update.zip" preferably to keep it simple.
If you have Clockwork properly installed then you have to boot into it, choose the option to install an update.zip and then find the update on your sd card and that's pretty much it my friend.
I was trying to use Rom manager but not anymore How do I create root on sd card and I cant find streakdroid to install or what rom manager that work on dell streak thx

Root on the sd card means
- the first level in sd card
- or as in /sdcard
- or copy the file into the sd card and not inside any folder
However its not absolute that u copy to the root. U can flash even if its inside a folder.
Regarding flashing , have u been able to flash CWM recovery ?

How to view External SD on PC

Hi everyone,
I just got my Iconia Tab. It's rooted and has clockwork recovery. I'm trying to figure out how I can see the external SD card (which is installed) on my PC so that I can install custom Roms and kernels. The only way I can do this is by installing a zip from the SD Card, not from the internal memory.
Thanks.
You can't yet. So copy to internal and then use any file explorer (astro, es file explorer, etc) to copy it over to /mnt/external_sd
Well that's annoying. Even archos could get that feature to work on my internet tablet. Oh well, I'm sure its coming soon.

You know, someone posts this every week. Maybe a search would have helped... anyways, each time I try to respond, maybe no one wants a real (and easy) solution.
Droid Explorer, install on your PC. Use it. Profit.
Listen, I always attempt to find an answer before posting a question. I try on Google, and then on the xda search. Sorry that I didn't find anything or feel like going through pages of threads to find an answer. Also, thanks for the suggestion.

Since you are already rooted give the Virtuous Xoom ROM http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1167391 a chance to land on your tablet.
Its HC 3.2 based and you'll see the external SD card w/o modifying anything. Cake

"Phone storage space is getting low" ... Can I move apps to the SD Card?

So I keep getting the low space alert, and it seems like my emails and texts stop when that happens, which is no bueno... I don't know why since I only have like 5-6 apps installed and have cleared my text msgs, but it keeps happening...
Is there a way for me to move my apps to the SD Card, as well as have them install there in the future *without having to root*? I'm not rooted, and due to it looking like a PITA, I really don't want to have to do it. I did the upgrade to 2.2 when I got it, and the option is in the setting to move each app to the SD Card, but that option is disabled and I cannot engage it.
Any ideas?
No one? Seriously?
Ok, how about this. If I do need to root to remove some apps and whatnot or however to make space, and I have no interest in custom ROM's, Radios, etc, what is the quickest and easiest way to root? One without having to install the SDK or anything like that? I am currently on 2.2.1, stock.
unfortunently, you do have to have root access to use apps to SD. BUT, i said the same thing about custom roms when i first started modding. heres what you can do.
1) Root your phone and install a CWM recovery using one of the many useful guides on this site
2) (optional) Achieve S-OFF in Hboot. this allows for further modification of a roms internal files after it has been flashed.
3)Download and flash the CM7 Rom(and gapps) from cyanogenmod.com (ensure that it is the rom for your phone)
4)Partition your SD card for EXT 4. (this is done in an app called ROM manager from the market.)
5) After you've booted into android, go to the android market and download an app called S2E. CM7 has its own built in A2SD, but ive found this to be the simplest and best overall.

There are several options on how to root your fone after you've upgraded to 2.2. Your real problem is, & this is the reason why they made the update available on HTC's website, rather than just doing an OTA, that the 2.2 package w/ Sense is just too big for the available internal storage...
The 2nd problem is, I noticed the guy prior suggested obtaining "S-off". This CANNOT, @ least last time I checked around, be done once you've updated to the stock HTC build of 2.2. You can still root the phone using one of the many methods available in the MT3GS android development boards & then install CM7 which frees up a lot internal storage space on the phone....

[Q] Lollipop & SD Card

So I updated to Lollipop via the root method in this forum. My apps are having problems accessing the SD Card. For example, in PowerAmp, I can't delete music on my sd card. Titanium backup will not create backups because it can't access the SD Card. BitTorrent Sync is another app that doesn't have access to the SD Card.
I thought that Lollipop allowed apps to have access to the Sd Card now unlike Kit Kat. I believe the App has to be written to take advantage of this in Lollipop. Is the issue that my apps don't support this? Is there some fix i can do like in kit kat? Is anyone else having this problem?
You're correct. It depends on the app. For instance, es file explorer will prompt for it and have you select the bottom level of the sd card ( I know, it's the root directory, but didn't want to use that term because it has nothing to do with the phone being rooted and wanted to avoid confusion)...anyway, after that selection you can do things as expected through that app and the sdcard. btw, I'm completely stock.

When I upgraded to lollipop I couldn't write or delete from my sd card. Even with es file explorer. I had to go to the play store and find an app to fix it. Just search SD Fix and choose one with good ratings (I can't remember the one I used)
are you both rooted/custom Rom? for stock and me at least, I just updated to lollipop then updated the es file explorer app and that was it.

I am rooted, no custom ROM. I just installed ES File Explorer (didn't have it installed before) and I was able to navigate to the SD Card and delete files. So I'm wondering if PowerAmp, TBU and BitTorrent Sync don't have the functionality yet? I'm going to try and un-install and re-install each one and see if that helps. When I upgraded from KK to LP, I did a data restore for apps. Not sure if that might have messed anything up.
I think you're probably OK and didn't mess anything up...best bet is to check with the app dev directly to see if they've considered or are possibly working towards that. So far, I've only encountered one app that uses that functionality from my set of many that's installed...that one is es file explorer. I'm checking with the devs of a couple others I use.

So I wonder if I should just use an SD Card Fix app in the meantime because I really need the ability for those 3 apps to edit files on my SD Card.
not sure, but sounds like it worked for briantacker. If it does work for you, please post what you did & which app you used so that others may profit from your success as well.

Ok, so I tried un-installing and re-installing BitTorrent Sync but I was still getting a message that it did not have permission to write to the SD Card. So I installed this, https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=nextapp.sdfix , even though it's for Kit Kat and it worked. I've only tested it with BitTorrent Sync but I'm sure it will work with the other two apps.

Sd card fixer for kit kat worked for me. Titanium works fine now and i can backup to the extsdcard.
Sent from either galaxy tab 10.1 4.4.4 or Verizon Galaxy S5 on rooted 5.0
Yeah, looks like that fixed my issue with Titanium backup and Poweramp.
From what I can tell, even though I used the app you recommended, not all apps get access. The one that I found that didn't is didn't is Dolphin Browser. I was hoping to be able to save to card. Oh well. I know the fix worked because titanium backup will backup to card. I guess that I may have to email the developer.
