I wanted to start theming.
Could someone kindly post a fully deodexed 2.2? Unless I could just use the framework and app from Skyraider 2.0, but I don't know if he removed anything from there.
Thank you
in the $ky raider op it says "for your theming pleasure" i would imagine nothong was rremoved.

Mods would have to be done. There a files that have to be added and or modified due to hardware differences. Do a search for "vanilla" and 2.1" in the Hero CDMA thread here. There are a few great vanilla 2.1 ROMs already floating around.
its called an aosp, or Android open source project. the only true 2.1 aosp we have right now is darchdroid, not that doesn't have a working camera yet.
I know fission 1.0 was just released but when someone gets the time can they port the Minimalist theme over to it.
Thanks.

We already have some developers working on this and there should be an update soon! Just posting this as a teaser
I see a bunch of custom Gingerbread ROMs in the development forum. However they all force you to use a custom theme that makes I find difficult to use.
Is there a Gingerbread ROM that keeps the stock TouchWiz and the stock theme?
I have long held the belief that themes should be developed separately from ROMs, but most developers appear not to have similar inclinations.
Revolution is the closest u will get to stock

Or you could learn how to theme if what these guys put out doesnt fit your needs

Don't take me wrong, I am not big fan of TouchWiz, but some of apps that comes with it I am kinda miss them on my newly installed AOSP JB ROM. I know we are talking about two different things here; TouchWiz ICS (Android 4.0.4) and AOSP JB (Android 4.1).

I would love to have this as well. My Files, eBook, task manager, and all the little mini apps. I would switch to JB in a heartbeat if the TouchWiz could ported over.

No. It is not. I already tried it does not works. and I learnt that someone said it needs TouchWiz framework to be ported as well in order to work. so simply copying them over does not works even if you place apk files in right folder with right permission.
For example, someone posted Samsung ebook apk with instructions, but when you use and try to import the book, it gets force close (FC) issue, so for me it has no use.
however, doing a little bit search, I run into this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1666384
so I am not sure if this can be installed on my AOSP JB ROM (Android 4.1)..

You are correct. It is impossible to get TW apps on AOSP ROMs unless you port the entire framework to the AOSP ROM, which is nearly impossible unless you are Samsung.

Hi,
What are the advantages and the reason to deodex a rom ? I read that some mods needed it but... How can I deodex the stock rom of the N4 ?
Thanks !
You can deodex using the Kitchen.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda premium
The advantage is that deodexed roms can be easily customized/themed where it is possible with odexed ROMs it's a lot more difficult and APK decompilers (apktool) don't decompile odexed files (at least to my knowlegde)
Odexed roms do run smoother and snappier since it preloads stuff into the VM. There has been great discussions on the topic.
In which topic ?
So, if i'm understanding good, deodex a rom is running it slower ?

Do a google search on Odexed Vs Deodexed. It's not that much slower. See with odexed each apk has a odex file so for example. SystemUI.apk.
On a deodexed ROM you would just have the SystemUI.apk
On an odexed ROM you will have SystemUI.apk and SystemUI.Odex
The odexed file gets preloaded into the virtual machine's cache

Bump ! Another question, if i deodex my rom, will all the apk i will install after it deodex too ?
Sent from my Blade S using xda app-developers app
Only system apps are odexed.
Yes, they will all be deodexed, yes you will notice it performing slower. I did.
Just use an odexed ROM, I have seen very few justifications for deodexed stuff. Half the themes out there are complete toss anyway, only ones that mimic TouchWiz or AOSP seem to be any good.
You dont need to zipalign them but it's s good idea to and only system apps and framework are odexed. Stiff you install after then is not.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
You can also use the app by Paul O'Brien that will reodex the deodexed system apps after you're done modifying any system files
