/sys/devices/platform/htc_battery/ - Droid Incredible General

So, I've had my Incredible for exactly a week, and needing to turn the phone off for 20-30 minutes to get a full charge is really getting on my nerves. I've been poking around in /sys/ and /system/ trying to see what I could find, and I found this directory that looks rather promising.
My issue is that I can't read any of the files on my phone using Astro (they show as blank with a file-size of zero). I've tried doing an 'adb pull', doing cp to the sd card via adb shell (both in and out of recovery), etc.
No matter what I try, I'm unable to get more than modalias, uevent, and /power/wakeup. Anyone have any ideas, or have any experience with this directory? Is the answer to what I'm looking for hidden here?
I'm guessing the 'drivers' directory is a symlink, and that's why I can't pull it, but I don't know. (This is my first Android phone, BTW, so I'm a bit noobish)
Looking for a little help here!

Bump, because it got lost in the pages of Froyo threads.
Does this not bother anyone else? Let's fix it!

I cant say anything to help you out... but I definately want this fixed... its REAL annoying

push data to phone

ok so i was messing with adb and was trying to see what needed to be pulled to have my application data backed up, not the apk's but the saves in games like mystique for example. I want to wipe my phone but still keep my game progress. when i pulled apk's before from data/app the app still ran fine so i figured it wasnt actually pulling but copying. so after messing around a while i decided to just pull everything with "adb pull data C:/" well everything pulled fine but then i seen right away no apps worked. whoops lol. anyways i want to push it all back to the phone but some files from data/data for example show as com.whatever in adb but once on the computer show as an xml file. is there anyway to push everything back to the way it was? not a big deal if its not, i just didnt want to lose game progress. the phone is ridiculously slow and everything force closes so i wanted to start fresh without losing too much, apps to sd is terrible for me. so, any help
P.S. if your gonna talk **** about me cause i messed up, dont bother, i was bored and figured i'd see what i could, it's my phone, not yours, if you wanna help then great, i appreciate it.
It would have been fine if you simply rebooted instead of trying to push everything back. You probably crashed something when the pull locked some file that was in use. When you pushed things back, you screwed up all the permissions. There is a fix permissions script somewhere posted on this forum, it might solve some/most of your problems, or it might not. A wipe will get you going again, but I know that that isn't what you're looking for.
The application data is stored in /data/data/app-path. If you collect the directories corresponding to the apps you want to save, then do a wipe, rerun those programs to recreate the directories, record the permissions on the newly created files, push back the files, and then finally restore the permissions, you should be able to save all your data.
Note: the forum search button might help you find the fix permissions script.

I've pulled lots and lots of times but never had the experience that you had. A pull should just be a copy.
ya when i played with it before all it seemed to do was copy, but when playing with it this time it wasnt even letting me push an apk back which was wierd. i created a nandroid and wiped it last night in case i need to go back to how it was for some reason. i've used that fix permissions script before and will run it again after i fix this. using what you said before i seemed to figure out how to get it to work again. i installed the app again and ran it like you said so the directory is back, and then went all the way into the directory and pushed the files back. i never even though to open up the "com.whatever" in data/data. thanks for your help

[Q] my bn library disappeared

All of a sudden, my BN library is gone. It was there earlier today. Right after I downloaded some more books, my entire library disappeared. My sd card read fine. All of those books are there. It's just the BN ones I have downloaded. My NC is rooted.
Please, please, please...can anyone help me?
This is really odd...did you try logging into your account online to see if all your books and things are still there? If they are, it probably shouldn't be too hard to fix...go to your library on your nook and hit the sync button and see if it comes back.
I know...it's so weird. All my shelves and mags are gone, too. I checked online. They are all there. I have tried sync, but it won't do anything. It does not reload them. I am so stumped and upset.
Please help!!!
Something else I noticed with the missing library
I had a couple of books on the home screen. I can open those. That tells me that they are somewhere on the NC or it wouldn't open. At least, I would think so. Am I wrong? I know I didn't move anything.
When I got the new downloads this afternoon, I had to stop the download do to work, so they never completed. It won't sync. I think it's because it sees the files somewhere, but I have no idea where. I went into Astro library. I can only see the 2 guide books that come with it.
I hooked my NC to my PC. I can see the BN downloads there. Even weirder.
I am a teacher. I teach an AP English class. Of course, my copies were on this library and now I can't access them.
Can anyone help me with this?
please help?
Newest development. I went to download the new freebie of the week and it worked. It showed up in my library like it is i suppose to. Is there a way to move files? Where do I move them to? Can I temporarily move them and put them back and they show up? I can see the others when I plug the NC into my PC. If I take them out, reboot, put them back there, will that work?
*banging head on wall*
help?
I could really use the help please
tried something else - didn't work
I went and deleted all downloads from BN (after I backed them up on my computer) and rebooted. I thought that if they weren't there, I could re-sync and download again. Nope. That didn't work. I could only redownload the one from this morning.
That would lead me to believe that there is some command screwed up.
I am now out of my element. I can see the downloads when I go into Astro. I just can't read them in my library.
Help...I am desperate.
Anyone?

This really doesn't make much sense to me...my only guess would be to try moving the files around from your internal memory to your sd card or something and see if you can get them to show up. Your files are there but your library app seems messed up...I'm not sure what to do about that man. Hopefully someone with more knowledge can help you out.
I did a factory reset. I have my library back now, but I can't root it. I may just leave it. I was playing too much and not reading the material I needed to anyway. I just wish someone could have helped me, but it's ok. As much as I wanted it rooted again, apparently it won't let me now. I have been trying for 3 hours. *sigh*
Same.
All of a sudden a bit earlier this morning, all my books disappeared. It has happened before and I found that the best way to fix it is to reboot it. .
Same thing happened to me. It's a brand new device. I looked online and they're all there, but there's no way to redownload them to my nook. Will be calling nook support tomorrow.

Files Unmovable

So I was trying to move some files around on my a500 today, backing up stuff, getting things organized, when I came across a pretty frustrating problem.
My Iconia will stop responding when trying to copy / backup / move certain files. Sometimes it does it with a book, sometimes with a picture, either way, once it decides it cannot move that file, the file is stuck. It's been doing this since I got it and it kinda feels like an issue one would have if they had a bad memory card. This is definitely the internal Acer memory though.
My question is this, is this a known issue, do I need to send my tablet back to Acer, or is there a fix for it somewhere?
I think it's a limitation of how the transfer protocol works. Some large files won't copy too/from the device properly. I really can't find a real pattern to give a definitive answer.
Hmm... Well, the file that I'm trying to move right now, is 1.4mb. Not very big at all, and it stops responding.
Well, it maay have just been my laptop, its old and picky and a complete piece of junk. Using a file manager my tablet has 0 problems moving things around on its own.

This is a known problem. I haven't yet come across it in the ICS leak, so maybe it's fixed there... otherwise just 'cp src dest' in the shell (needs busybox), which works reliably.
I run into this problem occasionally when trying to move a file. My solution is to copy and paste it and then delete the original. For some reason it copies just fine but when I try to move it, it fails.

[Q] Android Wear USB Mount?

Hi,
I've googled in vain for info about getting an Android Wear device to show as a mounted devices in Windows. For example, when you plug your phone into your computer, if MTP is enabled, then the phone will show up as a drive in File Explorer and you can easily drag over files.
I haven't been able to find a single mention of this type of functionality on the internet, which seems surprising since it seems like this would be useful functionality.
Anyone have any ideas about this?
thanks,
Charlie
We have it enabled on our gear2 mod

It's not possible on some watches, you're better off just sticking to pushing with adb and managing files with something like ES File Explorer

Thanks for the reply!
I don't suppose you'd be able to point me towards where I could find out a bit more info about this? That is, if it *is* possible on my watch, I'd love to give it a shot!
thanks,
Charlie

A lot of good info here http://forum.xda-developers.com/android-wear/general/list-sideloaded-android-wear-apps-t2908106
Thanks for the reply, I'd seen that thread before.
I'm actually hoping for info about how to enable MTP, similar to what they've done in the Gear2 mod. I tried sideloading a copy of MtpApplication.apk that I grabbed somewhere off XDA, but it didn't work. Either there are other dependencies and/or I need a version of MtpApplication.apk that's compatible with my Sony SmartWatch 3.
If anyone has any tips at all about this, I'd love to hear them!
when i boot my G watch into TWRP recovery in the mount menu there's a button to enable MTP but if i press it nothing shows up on my computer

Hmmm, good to know, thanks. I suppose it's not really a huge deal, but it would be really neat if MTP were enabled.... then the watch can become a no-hassle flash drive.
I do find it really easy to copy music onto the watch using ADB - it's easy to copy a whole folder like this:
Code:
adb push C:\MP3s\WatchMusic /sdcard/Music
And I recently found Wear Media, which does an *awesome* job of playing local files - it seems to be a pretty neat media player. It has a 'swipe-to-fast-foward' feature that makes it totally stand out.
Anyway, if anyone has any advice about how to get MTP working, I'm all ears - it would be really neat to have!

That is odd. It works for me on lollipop. Where did you put the music?

Galaxy s5 g900a 5.0 - need help to recover deleted sms/text messages

Hello all.....I am trying to recover deleted text messages, pic/vid messages on my stock Samsung Galaxy S5, G-900A, running android 5.0 (lollipop). I have tried to utilize a few different android data recovery systems but all have failed in locating any of the deleted messages---likely because root access is required? I have looked everywhere and am under the impression that this particular phone still cannot be rooted due to the AT&T locked boot loader. I also understand that these types of deleted msg files can be overwritten with extend use after initial deletion, however, I am only concerned with messages to and from one particular person, and there hasn't been much use on the phone since they were deleted anyway. This was one of my company phones used by an employee and it is important that I recover these messages. In my conversations with the AT&T Legal Department I was informed that even with court ordered subpoena they do not have the actual messages to provide because they are "deleted from their servers within a few days", but they were able to provide me with the actual data/message/call logs---which doesn't really help me with the issue. I know that there has to be some way or method to locate and recover these messages-----PLEASE HELP------Thank you in advance.
Additionally, I would like to add that I am not at all concerned with any future functionability of this phone, not sure if that even matters---just thought maybe if there are any important apps/programs/functions were modified or deleted to gain access to these messages I am absolutely willing.
Also, is there any way to copy or save the phones hard drive to my computer and access these messages/files through another function on my laptop????
It's unlikely you can recover them, one thing you can try is imaging the phone as you mentioned though, I only know how you could do it in linux though so I'm not sure how much use that will be to you.

Could probably get the text messages printed out from your carrier for a price

Thank you very much.....Im not exactly sure what protocol is on this but I'm wondering if I could hire you or anyone else who might be interested to scan and locate these messages for me? I see that you live in houston, as do I; if it is possible to find these messages thru linux I certainly couldn't do it as I have no experience with that program/software.

Seems you might have less luck than I thought :/ this is what I could find about finding the messages https://cmanios.wordpress.com/2013/10/29/read-sms-directly-from-sqlite-database-in-android/ to get deleted ones though you'd have to recover the old db, which would be hard to do in and of itself with flash memory, and you'd be lucky to get anything out of what would likely be a partial database file, and that would be hard to read. On top of that, to get an image of anything, even unrooted user readable partitions(internal sd card) you need root, because the command can only be run from the phone it seems, since the phone is presently on 5.0 it's not possible to root it, so your chances are slim to none since no data recovery tool app on the phone would go to the location of the message db file, even if it did it would need root, and even then, to image the phone as far as I can tell also requires root. The only thing I can think of is removing the internal sd card, the ifixit teardown covers this kind of, the card isn't a standard microsd, so finding a way to mount it would be trivial(possibly re-soldering it to a usb?) , if you managed that though, then you might have a chance at attempting data recovery which as I mentioned earlier is already going to be 50/50. As for someone who you could pay for help with this, I can't think of any place, and I also would be of no help unfortunately, there may be someone on the forums or around town who will do it on their own behalf, as with before though I don't know anyone who could help with it though. All this said, it's all speculation for the most part, so I would wait for a second opinion by someone else before taking any action.

I sure do appreciate all of your help and consideration......i sure wish there was some other/easier way to accomplish this...however, i have been able to put the micro-sd card into a larger converter card thing and view on my macbook pro---although there are many many empty folders when i try to access them. Is there a particular file reader that i could download on laptop that would show any invisible files and allow me to view them? Sorry for the amateur questions....thanks again for your help.

The microsd card from the phone does not have any text messages as far as I know, won't help to look at that, you need the internal one used by the phone which is a soldered to the board.

In fact , the lost Samsung can be recovered back depends on whether the messages is completely deleted from Samsung ,you can restore deleted messages from Samsung from Samsung SD card ,or Samsung Memory card ,In addition, the program is also apply to almost all Android devices, including HTC, LG, Sony, Motolora, Google and so on. Hope this can help.
