It can be downloaded from http://www.qtek.se (You have to register to be able to download).

I just noticed that the file is available on the FTP too! ftp://ftp.xda-developers.com/Wizard/Misc/
Thank you but that is the cab that kills the buttons with the new rom. It has worked with all other roms but with new one the buttons stops working. And I have hard reset the phone three times and then installed the cab and every time it kills the buttons if I enable any of the buttonlock feantures. The only button working after that is the powerbutton.
I think I will go back to the test rom from Qtek - at least it makes a working hardware keyboard
I have the same problem. I even downloaded and installed Norwegian version of this new i-mate rom hoping that there is a new CAB for nordic keyboard in the extended ROM, but I was wrong Seems that it is done in some other way now.
Re: How to get swedish hardware keyboard with new Imate rom
I too had the same problem with buttons and keyboard not working after flashing the I-Mate ROM. However, after some fiddling around I found out that changing "Buttons/Lock" settings from "Lock all buttons except Power button" made everything work again...
Cheers,
Christer

Re: How to get swedish hardware keyboard with new Imate rom
For me they work fine with that setting untill I install scandinavian support for the hardwarekeyboard - then they stop working independently of what setting I use.
Have you installed the scandinavian hardwarekeyboard cab ? Can you write swedish characters with it ?

Ok, I installed the CAB again to get swedish keyboard working. Again - hardware keys do not work. I did set button lock to "Do not lock buttons". Buttons really work now, but of course these are not locked any more. And another bug found now - when I turn off the device (sleep mode) it turns itself on in couple of seconds. Really annoying. I have to hard reset now again to get rid of the keyboard CAB
I haven't upgraded to the new ROM yet because of this..
But, one question. Have any of you guys tried just setting the proper registry value? The cabs also contain a keybddr.dll which seems to be a system level keyboard driver. I'm thinking this could be causing the problem.
The registry key I'm talking about is HKCU\ControlPanel\Keybd and the String value "Locale" changed to "0414" for Norwegian layout.
edit: Priit. You said you installed the Norwegian version of the ROM, and the hardkeyboard worked? Could you try extracting the keybddr.dll from \Windows and replacing that file when/if you try out the English ROM? Or even better, attach it here so others can try.
I tried again, did a hardreset and installed the cab. When I have the option set to "Do not lock buttons" all buttons except the D-pad works. But without a D-pad the phone is useless. The other two lock options kills all buttons except powerbutton.
Shall try the registry thing
Tokay, I just found out also that locale ID 0414 works (CAB also creates the same registry key).
Previously I tried with 041d (Swedish) and that did not work.
huh. So all keys work, including the D-pad?
Sweet. Guess this ROM will be installed after work today.. still hate that silly battery indicator on the task bar, though.. :?
Yep. Reinstalled and configured all my software and doublechecked: hardware keyboard acts as it should, all hardware keys ok, including D-pad.
I don't have Norwegian version installed any more but you don't probably want that file any more either

I have no idea how you pull this off. I've modified my registry numerous times, using several different editors (resco, total commander) and the results are very odd.
My keyboard never writes åöä like when I installed the CAB fix with the original ROM (I'm now using the KJAM Rom).
And the strangest thing is, that the changes I make to the registry only "stick" 10% of the time. The rest of the time, my original registry value is restored when I soft reset. I am now stuck with 041d for Swedish. I've also tried (and had the following values stuck):
040b: Finnish
041d: Swedish
0414: Norwegian bokmal
Nothing seems to make any difference though. I can write ä, if I press <blue ball> + symbol four or five times after writing the letter A, but that's probably not the "fix" you guys are cheering about
EDIT: I seem to have found the reason. If I immediately soft reset after editing the registry, it won't stick. That makes "sense" in a weird sort of way, but it still won't fix the order in which åöä appear when I press the blue ball+symbol.

Try this CAB I've made. And don't press reset button, but hold down power button until you see a warning "Device will be off, and ...". Press Yes then.

I'm using an english hardware keyboard with norwegian layout (0414).
I've heard someone complain about the swedish not working, but I haven't tested it.
Try "blue ball" + arrow keys. See if you get scandinavian characters...
The swedish characters are also on the norwegian layout (0414), so I suggest you try that if you can't get the swedish working:
I've set it to 0414 (norwegian) and it works like this:
blue+up = å
blue+left = ø
blue+right = æ
blue+down = ä
blue+period (.) = ö
note that 0414 also changes a few other special symbols:
blue+a = :
blue+g = ,
blue+h = '
blue+z = ?
blue+m = /
blue+tab = ~
(I wrote the new symbols onto small white stickers and put them on my keyboard - it's not pretty but it speeds up my typing)

Thanks Priit for your effort with the cab, which I ended up not having to use, since I only have linux at home and I can't activesync install programmes...
Although, since I got this device just a few days ago, I forgot I could probably have done it over my wlan. Takes some time to get used to.
Anyway, thanks to you too, Bredita. I can now confirm that neither the finnish or the swedish locale work with my international keyboard. I wasn't too keen on using the Norwegian locale, what with all your silly letters O with dash through it and so on.
But here's the deal: the norwegian locale 0414 WORKS for me as well.
My mistake was, that I thought I had to use it the same way as the cab I got from our vendor. With their patch, I would write the letter "a", and then press blueball+space (symbol). This would turn the previous letter (a) into first "ä" , then "å".
But this way is much faster: I get everything with only two presses, just as easily as writing capital letters with shift. So this is awesome indeed.
A word of caution about the registry editing though. I saw other people claimed that the registry would simply return to its previous value after a soft reset. This happens if you reset immediately after changing the registry. It appears the changes you make aren't actually going into the registry, but some kind of "copy" of the registry, which is synced every now and then. What works for me is, if I wait for as long as it takes until the screen turns off by itself, before resetting.
I confirmed this happens with other registry values as well: I changed the "usealternateedgeicon" to 1, then immediately performed a soft reset and the value was back to 0. So if your registry doesn't play ball, give it a few seconds before resetting.
EDIT: Just found a related thread:

Just wanted to say that this cab did it for me.
Thank you so much for making it really easy!
Would someone please tell me how to get rid of this new autocomplete, it's really slowing me down...I already tried turning off Word Completion in Settings -> Input.
I haven't seen that type of auto-complete before, but it looks rather good. What SIP are you using? Is it a new function in the latest ROM's or have you added a third party SIP?
Came with my Sprint Touch. It shows up whenever I use the built in block recognizer. Normally I wouldn't mind since it can be helpful for those really long words, but this one really really slows down my Touch and causes my strokes to be recognized incorrectly
Seemed to have figured it out, I just had to disable the Wordcompletion keys under HKLM\Software\Tegic

It also looks like this is provided by the new fullscreen keyboard SIP added to the Sprint Touch
comes in the new rom.. i cant find anyway to off it too..
I installed the new Touch Keyboard and Touch Keypad found in these pages (somewhere ?? sorry not sure...) and this now appears on the default keyboard.
Totally agree: it sucks big time. I couldn't find a way to turn it off also, so I eventually flash a rom without it
hi EliteXen,
could you be more specific which reg key under
HKLM\Software\Tegic
you changed to disable the autocomplete? thanks.
To turn off the XT9 autocomplete for non-Touch keyboards:
Go to HKLM\SOFTWARE\Tegic\eT9\ and change the key "XT9SupportMSSip" from value "1" to "0"
However, to turn it off within a Touch keyboard I think you need to go to "Options" for the keyboard --> XT9 Settings --> uncheck everything...
Can't use "Word Completion" on the Touch?? (Only XT9??)
Turned off XT9 as above but apparently the normal Windows Mobile "Word Completion" doesn't work??
Is it possible to use the normal "Word Completion" or is that functionality not included since they included XT9?
(I actually think XT9 does better prediction that "Word Completion" but XT9 prevents various 3rd-party keyboards/SIPs from working ...)
Here's some info: installed the dictionary editor from http://www.freewarepocketpc.net/ppc-download-word-completion-dictionary-editor-v1-3-2342-39581.html and it showed no entries in the system. Added a couple entries and saved them to the main dictionary so there are entries now, but they still aren't popping up as suggestions
What would be really great is if XT9 can be enabled and NOT interfere with 3rd-party SIPs. (For me, it prevents the "macros" function in MessagEase from working...) Otherwise, would love to be able to re-enable the Windows Mobile "Word Completion" if anyone knows how...
One of my problems (mostly) fixed
Apparently I'll just be sitting around posting repeatedly to this thread all day
Okay, here's something that can help if you are having trouble with XT9 interfering with a 3rd party SIP but you want to KEEP XT9's autocompletion rather than have no autocompletion at all...
The below fix made it possible for MessagEase macros to work along with XT9 being activated, although it looks a bit funky when MessagEase macros are being expanded (as the macro is being typed by MessagEase, XT9 is trapping every character and making new guesses, and then it remembers the macro as a new "autocomplete" phrase).
So here's how to make MessagEase and XT9 work together:
1) DON'T do the registry change described earlier (HKLM\SOFTWARE\Tegic\eT9\XT9SupportMSSip) --> if that entry was already changed to 0, change it back to 1 because we want it active again...and if you make a registry change then you'll have to turn the device off/back on and reboot as usual)
2) from the keyboard selector (the up arrow on lower right of screen), select "Options"-->then select "Touch Keyboard" and tap "Options" button
3) click "XT9 Settings" button --> uncheck everything EXCEPT "Word Completion"
4) click "Ok" a bunch of times
Now MessagEase macros work although XT9 is try to trap every character MessagEase is writing...
[[One note: I *love* MessagEase but haven't used the macros in a long time as there was a bug that started happening due to the "macros" function (I called it Mad WM5 Syndrome: everything started going crazy and you had to reboot). So Exideas made a MessagEase "Lite" version without macro functionality that is very stable...They tried to fix the non-"Lite" version but the last one I tried (long ago) still caused the problem on a PPC-6700...So now I'm trying the non-"Lite" version again, hoping the macro function will work without causing "Mad WM5 Syndrome"...I will post back if the mad syndrome returns!]]
Aaron
Well unfortunately I don't have much to add, but since you're the only one posting on this thread I thought I'd echo your desires for the standard windows word completion. I like to use the keypad at times and xt9 works just fine for that, but when I'm using my hardware keyboard I'm unable to get word completion back. I miss it!
GOod job with the work-around mentioned in your last post. I think I'd prefer the normal word completion to xt9's though, so hopefully someone can figure out a way to to limit xt9's "influence" to only those times that you're using the touch keypads.

Unfortunately, "Mad WM5 Syndrome" has become "Mad WM6 Syndrome" with the non-LITE version of MessagEase on my HTC Touch. So I'm back to using the LITE version of MessagEase without macros However, it's great using MessagEase on the Touch because you can slide right off the keyboard as there's no "ledge" between the screen and the rest of the device
Has anyone figured out how to prevent the Original "Touch Keyboard" on the Sprint HTC Touch from switching between the 40 key version to the 20 key version?
It's anoying whenyou need to type something it chages to the 20 key.
I've looked in the registries and I can't find anything related to that.
i know there was a cab released that hacks the touch keyboard to stay only on the 40key mode but it disables the xt9 in the process, if you can live without it
http://www.sprintusers.com/forum/showthread.php?t=146118&page=2
look at post #25 your just interested in the registry hack to make it only 40key
Hi,
Thanks for the Reply. But I didn't see a CAB file there. There is a more.zip files that looks like a full keyboard installation. not really a fix to the existing keyboard.
Is there anything else?
Thanks,
suggestion: get touchpal www.cootek.com
ya its a registry entry i typed it out wrong
teste2.zip contains the reg entries to turn the 20key permanently to the 40key

search google for sipchange that allows you to set your default input device
Maybe some of you are experiencing the difficulty to remove the SIPs that comes with the cooked roms that you don't want to use. One of the keyboard that I don't like to use is EZInput.
In some cooked roms, even after you select the default keyboard to the new keyboard (e.g. PCMKeyboard or Finger Keyboard) you had installed, it will not default to it after SR or in some cases, can't even be selected using the built in keyboard selector.
I have created a mortscript that will remove all the registry keys of all the SIPSs and leaving it with only the WM keyboard.
1. Run the attached mortscript.
2. Install your favorite keyboard.
3. Install default_IM_WM5.cab.
4. Run default_IM_WM5.cab. and select your favorite keyboard.
5. SR.
PS:
Default_IM_WM5.cab is not made by me. I'm just attaching it here for your convenience. Appreciation to the author.

Why don't you give it a try and let us know? So far, I had no need to use this script since I started using cooked 6.5 and 6.5.3 roms. SIP Change does it well.
installed the script, chose FingKeyb in Default_IM and now i get blank screen right after SR , windows doesn't boot (event htc splash screen doesn't appear). hard reset...
My elfin auto suggest words when using keyboard on a black horzontal line above the keyboard. How can I switch to the original WM vertical list method? Is there a reg key to change?
Thanks!
I think thats build into your SIP.
Which means you cant change it, you can try googling it though.
I'd really like to get rid of that black bar as well.
Is there some way you can change the SIP?
A solution
Ok I found out how to do it and it just requires a couple of small registry changes.
Change the following entries under registry key: HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Layouts
Ime File: compime.dll (compime.dll was in my Windows directory so I didn't need to copy it)
Layout Text: COMP IME
Soft reset and the old autocomplete that we all know and love is back, e.g. a small box with all the suggestions.

May not be as the keyboard is the standard WM keyboard, not the HTC one. Additionally, for some time, I managed to make the black bar go away and revert to the drop down list. But recently, I did a deep registry celarning using memmaid and somehow something was changed and it caused the blacj bar to appear again...
Wondering where in the Registry should I look for this....
