Build.BOOTLOADER and Build.RADIO - Android Software Development

According to the SDK we should be able to read the bootloader and radio versions, but Eclipse is freaking out about it.
I can read any other Build.<whatever> fine.
Any idea?

Unable to update radio on TyTN

I have a fairly new TyTN, but it suddenly stopped working, freezing randomly and at short intervals.
I decided to send it in for repairs, but I havent been able to find the receipt, and even though I have the box and the warranty, I can do nothing without the receipt.
So I found the pages, and have tried several updates.
First I did the Hard spl to 2.1.0 olipro, and it went well.
Now the phone was with the three colored stripes, and unable to do anything at all (though quite stable ;-) )
I then tried several different updates, (RUU) but none came all the way, the best did 13% and froze (RUU_Hermes_QTEK_DAN_2.11.253.1_102_6275_1.38.00.10_108_Ship.exe)
I tried several radio only updates, but none got anywhere, all stopped with errors 262 or communications failure.
I was then able to do the update to Mobile 6 black (Pro_Black_3.0.1) and have a complete, working system, but without the radio !
Any attempt to update the radio since, has resulted in a bricked device, with the 3 color screen.
If i place the "soft slp) file on the device when its with windows mobile 6 and connected, the activating the .exe will immediately place the device in the 3 color screen brick mode, and I cannot update the radio from there either.
Can anybody help ?
I'd hate to believe that I now have a fully working PDA, but no phone !

Did you follow the MrVanx guides?
Mike
You should try reading through this thread. Its quite lengthy so I would probably search for "error 262". Also, check out the wiki here and here Once you find out which type of brick you have (sounds like type 2), there are some steps to unbrick it. Good Luck!
To Mike:
Yes, I started out with the Mr.Vanx guide, but got stuck with the radio updating, it never got past the 0% mark.
To Peezy
I have done alle the threads, and all the different ways of updating, including through sspl.
I have not been able to figure out exactly what Radio bootloader i have, but I seem to have SuperCid, IPL-1.01, SPL-1.40.0lipro.
Its a HERM200 (TyTN) and the short of it seems to be, that I can easily do upgrades as long as they don't include radio.
Reading from the threads, I get the impression that I cannot update the radio in any way at all, if it's bootloader version >=1.09
Is that correct ?
- can you inform me how to read the radio bootloader version ?
In sspl mode I can conect with the mtty.exe tool, and send commands.
The set 14 0 command does not seem to work though, if I'm stuck in three color mode I can only get out by running an ruu without radio (I currently use the Pro black version)
This will get me the OS, but any radio updating still fails.
If for some reason it's not possible to update/fix the radio, will I be able to do it through any paid service ?
radio?
What is this thread about? I have the same phone but it does not have a radio.
What are you talking about?

Firstly install HardSPL v7
Then install the latest Radio and see if it works.

What version of SPL do you currently have? You said initially that you upgraded to 2.10Oli, but then you say that your bootloader screen shows 1.40.oli. It looks like when you initially upgraded your HardSpl, it didnt work, because your BL is showing 1.4.

Because I'm feeling sorry for you and for the edification of the innocent:
All phones have "radios" to transmit/receive signals over networks. This is not a radio in the commonly accepted sense of a device for listening to broadcast radio programmes. Hermes does not have as some phones have, an FM/AM radio built in.
Mike
I did the mar Vanxz updates, to the point where the radio update failed.
That left med with olipro 2.1.0
Then, after having tried several diferent hnhreads, I am at this point, having 1.40
Will it make any diference if I update with hardspl7 to 210 olipro again ?
Im not sure which radio you tried, but you should be able to get some answers here.
You can also use mtty to check your radio BL version here.
Hope that helps.
lets start from the beginning, update to HardSPL 7 (2.10.olipro)
Now when you try to install the radio update make sure you select SPL 2.10 and tick "is it hardspl?".
try that
Okay here we go:
I have done the HardSPL v7 to 2.10 Olipro again, no problems there.
I have previously tried 4 different versions of the radio only updates, with and without soft sspl, but none get past the 0% mark.
I just gave it another go, and still no luck.
Still stuck at 0%, and ends with "upgrade error 262"
I now have spl 2.10 Olipro, and no radio.
I have tried several times to get into radio comm mode with the mtty.exe tool, using the commands descibed at the link.
None work !
All radio comm commands result in a "command error!!!" response from the tool.
This is both using softspl bootloader mode, and the normal bootloader, and it includes the commands "rtask a" and "rtask b" all give error results.
I can do other commands without errors.
One interresting detail: when trying to update radio it says: "updating from image:3.29.707.4"
If I go to os sysinfo, there's no radio version listed at all.

Where did you download the radio from? Try one of these:
1.41.00.10
1.40.30.00
1.38.30.00
these have the RUU necessary to detect HardSPL v7 (if you followed the guide it does link to the top one of these).
Which radio is it you are trying??
Also when this error first began to occur was it AFTER or BEFORE you installed HardSPL?
I have tried al of those.
None work..
looks like abricked device then unfortunatly.
Did you run HardSPL before trying the radio upgrade?
Yes.
Do you mean that I have no options at all, to recover the radio ?
It doesnt sound good dude, refer to the unbricking thread as all cases of bricking should be reported there.
Okay - an expensive pda it is then.
Thank you all for your effort.
Well.. i have the same problem as u, except i can call people, just can't update the radio. I am using the X01HT White!

None of the Android ROMs will automatically flash a radio on your phone.
You have to manually do that using the radio thread. The "r" in the kernel name does not mean radio, it is just the revision number of the kernel so you can keep track of version.
Edit:
and FYI, American Android is an SD only ROM, which means you can actually run it without modifying anything on your phone and keeping it completely stock, you'd just have to launch it from WinMo first.
You can flash HSPL, MAGLDR, then run it from that (which means you would not have to load up WinMo first), but it is still not ever "flashed" to your phone, it is only run off the SD card.
alright understood thank you very much, so for that build i do not need to see which version of hspl i need as it does not require one. I would check which hspl i'd need if i wanted to auto book into android itself correct? anything else to worry about besides radio and hspl that i may have over looked?

Nope,
Any questions on that ROM just ask in thread.
If you are running the latest WinMo ROM, then your radio is 12.15.50 and you are good to go, since that's the radio most custom ROM users use anyways.
your "SPL" (secondary program loader) will be stock and it does not matter. If you want to boot straight into Android from the bootloader, flash WP7, or flash Android to your internal storage, you will need to flash HSPL 2.08, which is very easy and takes a grand total of about 30 seconds.
Just check the HSPL thread in WinMo upgrades, use HSPL4 and flash version 2.08

[Q] How to install XBmod/Yuki?

I'm just wondering since this mod isn't officially supported anymore, and the information on how to use it is scattered all over. How do you install it now to the latest version?
Assuming I have everything ready, since I used to run Pdaimatejam's Tango and I now want to try Yuki's, since it's supposedly easier since my phone will effectively function as a legit WP7 phone.
Radio, HSP, MAGLDR are all working properly.
Can anyone tell me the exact process? Since I'm not exactly sure from what I've been piecing together for the past 5 hours...
Do I...
1. Flash the Yuki v2.1 ROM
2. set the time/date
3. Update via Zune all the way til the end
4. get the activation code(I'm not exactly sure how to get it, does anyone know how to get it if I'm situated in the Philippines?)
5. load the Sp1 cab
Are there any other cabs I need to load? or any other steps I have to do? and how do I get an activation code from my current location? Is it the same as everyone else's?
edit: Though can I also ask, which version is better? Yuki's or pdaimatejam's? Since they say Yuki's can be updated normally, which other ROMs can't do.
why do you say the instructions are scattered all over the place? instructions are in 2 companion threads...the main thread is in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1236027 and the companion thread is in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1250869.
carefully read the threads. yuki is at v8107 with no updates available yet to v8773. we doubt we'll get auto updates to 8773 and beyond. if you are unsure what to do stick with the other roms that are at v8779.
again, read the threads carefully before asking for how-to do something to flash...all you need to know are in the threads above.

[Q] Not suer where to start

I bought this phone three months ago knowing WP8 was coming out soon. :crying:
I see the XevRev for Spark_W stuff, radio collecctions, tons of custom rom stuff, and etc, but I'm at the point where I'm utterly confused at what it what.
I guess I'm asking where I should start?
Here is what I think might be relevant:
OS Ver: 7.10.8773.98
FW Ver: 2305.13.30202.605
HW Rev: 0003
Radio SW Ver: 1.43.00.06.14_23.17w.05.13U
Radio HW Ver: 3.2.3.D4
Bootloader Ver:3.2.230513.2
Changed DUN NAI from dun.vzw3g.com to vzw3g.com
Just got my dev unlock through dreamspark.

Well, dev unlock is really unnecessary if you plan on installing an HSPL and flashing a custom rom. Then again, your OS version of 8773.98 suggest that you are running DFT or ansar's rom, but didn't install HSPL (only RSPL to flash the rom). Even with the official rom, your OS level should be 8779.8 after updating via Zune.
First, if you REALLY want to unlock the power of this phone, install HSPL using my HSPL guide for SparkW. It explains every step in detail so you can be ready to flash a custom rom.
Second, give my SparkW rom XevRev a shot for a great Tango experience. Just flash the rom, then update via Zune after setting up the phone to get the newest radio installed. It has FullUnlock and Root Tools, and is the only rom currently around that allows for the phone to be fully programmed using *228 (older roms have an older Xap Deployer package that didn't allow the programing tools to be installed).
You can ignore the radio thread and the "stock like" threads because the contents of those are now outdated with my rom being out.
Get 10+ post under your belt and you can reply to dev forum topics. I'm working on a 7.8 rom, but I won't be able to test it until my third Spark_W comes tomorrow and I transplant a digitizer into it. Maybe since I'm taking it apart I'll also upgrade the SD Card on that one too? (I don't want to flash my primary phone since it's too much of a pain to get reinstalled when I need it for an alarm clock.
Before you flash another rom though, I want to ask you a few things. Do you have Unlimited data via Verizon, and if not, what plan do you have? Also, is tethering working for you NOW before flashing my rom simply by doing the dun nai change? The dun nai change should only be necessary for Unlimited data users.
I'm using factory updates. All I know is that I have my phone updated as far as I can through Zune.
We just switched from AT&T to Verizon, due to the lack of any signal across the entire house. When we went into the store they had to have their manager bring the phone all the way from Kentucky. Anyways, they had just started to push the share everything plan, but the reps acted like they weren't comfortable with those plans yet. I have a 2gb a month, but I called verizon and they disabled the DUN for my phone (as I didn't want charged one of the wifi access fees) When I enabled the wifi after I called them I got a webpage showing I could re-enable it for the $30.
I tried to do the Interop_Unlock but that seemed to not work. But I might as well wait for your 7.8 then.

Yeah, Interop is a pain to do unless you are running Mango v1. You could factory downgrade to do it.. but its really a big pain.
I'm aiming to have 7.8 and international language roms out by Sunday, work is guna make it difficult. Are you able to use tethering with the dun nai changed though? I'm curious because other users with metered data plans were still having issues.
If you can't use tethering even with the dun nai changed, try deploying JerryJiang's Tethering unlocker for Verizon Trophy. If you still can't tether, I think I know a final adjustment that may need to be made, and you could be a helpful test subject since JerryJiang sent me his apps source code. After I get the details sorted, I can apply the fix directly into my rom without a need for an app (and create a rom package for others to cook into their roms).

Tethering works with the internet sharing in settings. I have no issues what so ever.
I'll beta test if needed. (If it says anything im running win8x86 rtm kinda as my main os)
EDIT
Just saw how big RUU_Spark_W_S_VERIZON_WWE_2.04.605.02_Radio_NV_021 5_NV58008_RELEASE is. I have hughesnet and a 500mb daily cap. I'll have to wait till I'm at my grandparents(I'm 19) where dsl is king tomorrow. lol

That is the rom for flashing back to stock. You'll need the older rom in the HSPL thread to downgrade the bootloader. Get both roms and back them up if bandwidth is a problem.
So, I finally got to download the RUU_Spark_W_VERIZON_WWE_1.03.605.22_RS0512_2K_4K_hybrid_new_partition_RELEASE and I got it to flash the phone, but now when I try to flash using [ROM_SPARKW][TheXev]XevRev_Beta1a_8835 the phone gets stuck at 0%. I can follow the instructions shown on the program, but it seems to get stuck at the same place.
I can just unplug the phone and turn it back on and i can get calls in the meantime, but it seems I can't proceed.
I tried the dft rom aswell, but it shows the following:
Code:

SPARK, MOZART, MONDRIAN, GOLD, SCHUBERT.

You need to install HSPL before you can flash a custom rom. After downgrading the bootloader to 1.3, you can then install HSPL. Follow my guide here for complete instructions, step by step.

I finally got it to work! Thanks for the help. I had to find the DFT_XSPL_WP7FG3 that I had downloaded a month ago. The DFT HSPL thread didn't seem to have the file anymore.... When I found that rar, it worked perfectly; I'm now running your 7.8 rom!
I'm still unsure how the WM Device Center actually works, but I'll have to take that up with ultrashot. It seems to work intermittently, I can browse all the files on the phone with the pc that I first set it up with, but all it seems to do on my other pc is just show "error" instead of "not connected."
Its probably because I was trying to do all this on Win8x86.

That did the trick. Been using it for a while now. THe only issues I've had has been with GPSKit Tether. MS Streets and Trips doesn't think that the data is NMEA 2.0 compatable, I can open terminal on the port being used, and it shows data. The only thing I would like to see in your build is the updated start icons. Also I can't seem to get the Nokia Counters installed. I got the files to copy from my ringtones to \Windows, but can't seem to get the provxml file to execute.

[Q] install nativesd rom for mobile banking app on htc hd2

hi,
im trying to run a mobile banking app which restricts its usage under rooted roms. actually i know how to jailbreak an iphone (its easy) the rooting process seems to be very difficult without any good step-by-step tutorials explaining everything needed to prepare, flash and configure the smartphones up to the end where it should be working like expected.
the smartphone is a htc hd2 and aMAGLDR 1.13 is already installed as bootloader and the spl-2.08 hspl is installed too. the hd2 has been already flashed with rooted roms but not by me.
can someone refer me to a good tutorial where i can get a rooted rom with android versions higher than 4.0.4 and lesser than 4.4., anything like 4.3 with selinux on permissive would be great.
i tried the steps explained in this video but after the 4ext recovery i failed at the step where i had to select the rom in boot settings. there wasnt any entry.
heres the code for the video from youtube (sorry dont have 10+ posts yet :/ ):

Hello
I'm not entirely sure what you want to achieve here, but I'm assuming your ultimate goal is to be able to run a banking app that only works on non-rooted devices, correct?
Before going the harder path, have you tried hiding your root on your current ROM? There's an Xposed module called "Hide Root" or something that hides root from apps that check for it while allowing you to continue using root. You have to install Xposed Framework first then the module (from the same app, through "Download modules" submenu) and finally activate the module.
Now you later on asked for a tut on how to install a rooted jellybean android. All ROMs for the HD2 are rooted (except DFT's first Android ROM), so that's one less thing to worry about. Here is a tutorial of mine that should help you: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=16528026&postcount=7 You said the device is already on 2.08 HSPL and already has MAGLDR so you can skip the first few steps. Also when picking a ROM from the HD2 NAND-section, just make sure it's a 4.1/2/3 and you should be good to go.
I know my answer is late so if you do come back, I hope you find it useful.
