Hong Kong user using a Hong Kong handset on a Hong Kong network. Still on R1FA014 waiting for an update.
But yeah, the update shouldn't be SIM dependent.
Don't use the pcbs compasion, use the update service tool whitch is called SEUS.
My pc compansion says my phoning is up to date but SEUS just gave me the update to 20.

Im sure that this subject has probably been covered before but
My galaxy, when plugged into Kies gives me the message that the handset cannot be updated. The versions installed are:
PDA: I9000XXJF4
Phone: I9000XXJF3
CSC: I9000TMUJE6
My question to all of you is, is there an update to this firmware and how do i upgrade. The network provider is T-Mobile UK...
Thanx in advance
No there is no official update from Samsung, we are all waiting for the froyo release. So you cannot update officially until now.
But there are leaked testfirmwares like JPH or the newest JPK. Look at adroid development. There you will find downloads und tutorials to upgrade to these leaked testbuilds.

The latest official 2.1 update is JM1 which has been out since August. I guess T-mobile have not released this update for t-mobile branded phones.
thanks for the replies
I have seen another Galaxy S on T-Mobile UK using the JM1 firmware. The only difference was the purchase point for the handset, mine was direct from a T-Mobile store, the other came from the Carphone Warehouse...
t-star
carphone warehouse handsets are generally sim free with no network restrictions so thats why it will be on JM1 using a firmware released from samsung
Tmobile as of yet have released no new firmwares
A friend of mine has JM5; he hasn't upgraded for sure. Too ..... U know
hi, i ordered my note 3 and it came with btu firmware and i was having problems with play store and internet and google now using the 3g data. (everything was ok on wifi) i noticed that a few people have been having these problems so i decided to try the H3G stock firmware from 3 uk. everything is fine in odin untill it reaches the hidden.img.ext4 and then it fails. any ideas? my original details were: xxubmi7, xxubmi6, oxabmi6.
thank f*** for that, worked when i put the original BTU firmware on. Christ i was chewing the chair! guess i cant put h3g uk firmware on my h3g uk contract phone from www.phones.co.uk
New Question : - the box for my note 3 says European model: this product is only compatible with a sim card issued from a mobile operator within Europe. so if this i a European model then why cant i flash a uk firmware on it when the company i got it from is on a uk h3g 2 year contract?
hi, I have a french bought S4 non-network specific, I am now back in the uk and using my 3 PAYG sim. Will i have any problems updating to 4.4 when it comes out either over kies or OTA?
i see t-mobile has released the update today but no sign of the generic update yet.
being in the uk will i get the uk release or will i have to flash a local version?

So I got two S7 Edge's today, both network unlocked. One is running CSC BTU and the other is XEU. Is there any benefit or difference between the two, should I put BTU on both or XEU on both, any performance or battery life difference or does one get updates quicker than the other?
From having a look around the net I haven't really found much in explaining the difference, I see that BTU is UK and XEU is UK/Ireland.
A couple of people have said that the BTU is from Samsung and the XEU is unbranded from a reseller, what does this mean?
Thanks for any input.

XEU used to be the old Samsung csc for the UK, then they switched to BTU later on. I hadn't seen XEU about for a while before I got my Edge and found it had the XEU csc code, not sure why they are using it again and why there is two now?

I think i worked out the difference between BTU and XEU.
BTU firmware are on phones that come directly from Samsung (unbranded)
XEU firmware are on Sim Free handsets that are generic (unbranded) but not from Samsung

It's better to use the XEU one as it's the fastest one for updates. My UK unlocked s7 edge from carphone warehouse came with this firmware. XEU has replaced BTU firmware for fastest updates since the S6.

I read that BTU is for unbranded phones that come directly from Samsung, while XEU is for unbranded phones that aren't from Samsung. (e.g. resellers)

Turns out that BTU get updated faster than XEU.
BTU is Samsung UK unbranded (generic) and XEU is just UK unbranded (generic). Difference between the two, if you purchase an sim free phone from Samsung you get BTU, purchase a sim free phone from any other retailer you get XEU.
So if you purchase a Samsung S10 sim free direct from Samsung it will ship with BTU firmware...
If you purchase a Samsung S10 sim free from the likes of Carephone Warhouse it will come with XEU.
