Unlimited internet with throttling over 5 GB - I think it forces edge after that point. Plus you don't pay extra for HSPA+. If you pay month to month, it's very cheap. If you get a Nexus 1 and I think S (since you can undetectably use cheap non-smart phone data plans), it can be significantly cheaper than Sprint.

Sadly this is the truth. I so want the g2, and would drop the evo in a hearbeat for a g2 on sprint.
A lot of disappointment tonight but doesn't HTC have an event next week? I would assume Sprint saved the other phone(s) for that event.

I totally agree! If it wasn't for the Evo, Evo Shift and the Epic...Sprint would be nothing. The Evo is a beast and that's the only reason I'm still with Sprint. However, if they don't release and/or announce a Evo 2, I might just sell my Evo, Evo Shift, my wife's phone and my daughter's phone and go to another carrier.
All this hype for a mediocre phone. This thing doesn't even compare to the Evo at all. This was a disastrous FAIL on Sprint's part!
*Hey everyone...let's not forget about the the other rumored device, the HTC Arrive that is suppose to be coming to Sprint as well. Maybe that phone will amaze us a little bit more.*

Come on dude, you can't be serious:
AT&T - Atrix
Verizon - Thunderbolt, Bionic, iPhone
T-Mobile - My Touch 4G, Nexus S
There are other phones out there and if you get better cell reception, then making the switch is alot easier

Verizon comes out with the Thunderbolt, so that is an option for me. As well as the Motorola Atrix. But the only thing about those Motorola phones is that they're hard to root.
And I had a Nexus S but T-Mobile is horrible where i live. I couldn't get any service at home whatsoever.

do you plan on using your voice/data smartphone SIM with AT&T? I've heard they've been cracking down on that. Do some research as how to get around doing it without getting in trouble. Let us know if you manage to do so without issue.
That is my concern, will AT&T ever support any smartphone larger than 5"?
Streak 5 makes me not want anything smaller, actually maybe smoething around 7" as an all-in-one device.
Ive seen a tab and it looks sweet!

It's kind of a tough call at this point. If I remember correctly, technically there's no need for the FCC to approve the merger. I think it has to do more with regulations and the fact that the merger could potentially cause a monopoly with the GSM market. The funniest part about it, when you look at European markets you only have what, 3 major options depending on where you live?
Back to the OP, i would love for t-mobile to get the SGS2 but I almost don't see that happening, at least according the road map. I'll be surprised if the Hercules turns out to be the SGS2 and not something comparable.
Sent from my Galaxy S using XDA Premium App
i dont see a reason why tmobil wouldnt get the sg2! first off more people will buy a sg2 then a hercules, thats a no brainer. So thats more money for them so im puzzled by this if we dont get it!!! If we dont get it i can see why there in trouble........
are you sure tmo isnt just screwing with us and hercules is the sgs2. ha ha we fooled ya.
Lol if sgs2 doesn't come.
Hercules is definitely faster and better than it.
I'm just worried about
1) screen size
2) no updates
i hope t-mobile will have sg2, the phone is too amazing to pass up. i am sure more ppl will buy that phone more than hercules.
Honestly, if they dont release the GS2 (which looks like a more reasonable phone) I'll end up buying the ATT version and using it. Hercules is to big (wide).

.2" bigger than the HD2 Screen That phone fits perfectly in my pocket Like the bigger screen idea.......... but I want to know how the battery or what battery will give enough power that I am not crying about battery life.
The Hercules looks way better than the S2 by specs...we will see
so nobody knows for sure if tmobil is passing on the sg2? i wish i did.
My guess is that T-mobile won't launch the SGS2 with the other carriers.
Is that a mistake? Yes... but T-mobile probably felt like they didn't have any 4.3" devices and they probably thought that the Hercules would be similar enough to the Galaxy S 2 to satisfy people looking to upgrade.
What t-mobile probably didn't gamble on is how much buzz and good press the Galaxy S 2 has gotten.
I've been with T-mobile for a number of years and they usually have the worst selection of high tech phones.
If not for the Vibrant, there is not really an Android phone I would be able to point to as being a "top phone". G2 has a locked bootloader and the MyTouch is rather average.
Verizon usually gobbles up the good stuff.

You don't have to wait for the merger to be complete, as long as the phone you purchase now has the correct bands to work on At&t.
I'm assuming most of the phones to come out on t-mobile will soon have the correct bands to work on At&t.

Yup that pretty much sums it up. Hopefully this turns out to be a good experience, instead of the nonsense Samsung put us through the first time around.
Lets be honest, T-mobile will release the Hercules and 3-6 months later release the SGS2. They did this with the original MyTouch 3G/MyTouch3G w/headphone port, and they did it with the Vibrant 3G/Vibrant 4G (still pissed bout that one). It's just how things work at T-mobile. IMO, the news of unlocked bootloaders from HTC has really got me considering the Sensation... if its not too late to unlock the Sensation. The only reason is the dev support for HTC products, and not to mention, HTC's superior support for their customers.

Upgrading on another phone
I have 4 phones on my plan but only 3 of them have the data (last is for my daughter's emergency phone).
Of the 3 on the data plan, mine still has the medianet plan on my captivate which the AT&T rep was kind enough to keep for me when he upgraded my phone from an older phone to the captivate.
But phone #4 without the data plan is up for upgrade and I'm wondering if I order it online, do I have to pick a data plan for it? Or will it try to put a dataplan on it if I use it with her sim card but not mine?
I'm thinking if I unlock the phone and just put my sim chip in it, I can keep my unlimited, but not sure if the data plan automatically gets put on phone #4 if I upgrade on that.
Anyone know?
Hey guys
Is it the plan version or the RRP? coz I got mine for $550 from other source=(
Crap, I just bought my Atrix on Saturday... Costco gave me a good deal though.

Lap Dock
Im wondering if they are gonna dump the price of the phone are they gonna drop the price of the Dock as well? With a locked bootloader im getting kinda bored with this thing. Maybe a dock will give me something to mess around with. Im sure not paying $300 for it though.
