There are several Chinese IMEs in the Market that you can download. The highest rated is the "Google Pinyin IME". Another option would be the "HanWriting IME", which allows for handwritten input.
No rooting is necessary, just downloads from the Market. Also, this is a general Q&A type of question, and has nothing to do with development.
Thank You, hanwriting IME is exactly what i needed. Now another reason I dont missed iPhone.
wrong section sir... dev section is starting to get cluttered with stupid posts like this that should be in general...

It can display Trad and Simp Chinese on most applications, you just need IME as well as convertz (tag must be unicode to make it work).
Thanks! Sry about posting in wrong section... I thought I need to flash into a different firmware in order to get chinese in locale...

Google Pinyin IME enables chinese input but is there one that will change the menus and home screens into chinese?
Yea I want to know it too...

No, that would be a Chinese locale, and that must be built into the ROM. Only ROMs that include the locale will give you that option.
Im sure you can grab the chinease locale from the euro rom.

I can only imagine how difficult it must be to type in chinese much less on a phone. I really would like to learn the language though. Ni Hao Ma!

well, the locale is rom dependent as someone has already mentioned it. The apps is just for you to write chinese or type chinese. the vibrant itself can recognize the chinese character even though no chinese IME apps installed.
Icic so is there any chinese rom for vibrant yet? Or I can flash it into the oem i9000 chinese rom? But as far as I know vibrant have 4 hw keys and i9000 have 3 only...

I know you can put Japanese input using Simeji. I realise this doesn't help you, but it may help others.

Well, I understand where he's coming from. I myself would like to know too.
Right now, xxjpy (2.2.1) is europe based. And over the asia region, we have arabic, thai, viet languages. Flashing to xxjpy would lose that.
If only we can mod the xxjpy rom and include whatever languages in it then there be people upgrading their phone to 2.2.1 now, instead of waiting for official release from Samsung.

Can you define 'safe'? If it means keeping your ability to root, then, if you download 2.34.75.1 from danne_jo's thread, then yes, it is safe.
I also tried installing languages through more locale..what do you think about that?
Please guide me, im a complete newbie and i dont need new rom, just the languages. Is more locale dependable?

From what I have been reading around these forums, yes, morelocale2 is reliable, and, has been recommended to many. (Havent used it personally)

Today I was able to download and install Swype for my Wildfire.
Previously I would normally get the message that your screen resolution is not supported.
So anyone who have already signed up for Swype beta can install a working official version of swype for Wildfire.

I was very skeptical about it aswell but when I started using it for a while it really gets faster to type and I cant miss it.
I have an older customized version with English and Dutch/French + few other languages that works with the Wildfire perfectly.
Downside the apps is 5 MB because of the languages.
PM me if you want it.
